Hi Weasel, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the Imate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
Thanks
Phil
Hi
I have just gone through the update process (to UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe) with my xda exec as I was on the latest o2 rom and I followed the instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...tion On How To Upgrade with Bootloader method
The bit I hadn't picked up before was the .nbf files have to be in the same directory as the rest of the update and MaUpgradeUt_noID - I deleted the radio version witin the folder (radio_.nbf_) and then pasted in the 1.0.9 one which I downloaded speratly - hit MaUpgradeUt_noID and everything completed within 30 mins or so.
The xda is like a new machine compared to the old o2 rom I was on as it's soooo much quicker.
Oh i was worried about not having my o2 settings but if you download this cab file and run this cab[/url after you have finished setting it up on qtek rom you get all your setting back for o2 (choose basic when using cab not corporate as that doesn't seem to work!
Hi Andy, what do you think of the Qtek ROM? I recently changed from the O2 ROM to the iMate version, would be interested to know what you think are the Pros and Cons of your latest ROM?
sorry for the delay in responding:
My first impressions of the QTEK ROM were fine but.... on Sunday, the phone just stopped working completely - no signal etc. Hard reset was required to get it working again. I've disabled error reporting and will load my software back on later today.
Chris
I have flashed my Orange M700 with the official ROM with no problems, most of my software is working. However TOMTOM detects a new device ID everytime I hard reset the phone.
I have spoken to TOMTOM support who have confirmed that this is an issue with WM6 and at the moment do not offer any official support. They have also stated off the record that it is likly that TomTom 7 will not be released on the WM format partually due to this issue.
Use TomTom 6.0.3 - works for me?!
Which 'official' HTC WM6 ROM are you trying? The only one currently available is the Asian ROM, developed by Dopod which is not supported in the UK; I went from Orange ROM to HTC WM5 without any problem; it was only when I flashed another WM6 ROM (based on the Dopod Beta WM6 ROM) that I had problems. TomTom agreed to give me another activation code, but in the meantime I flashed the Mun-Rus WM6 ROM, and the device code reverted to the correct one.
The ROM 'chefs' suggested there was some faulty code in some of the ROM's- it affected the Hermes as well- which changed the device code, and it looks as if that may have carried over to the release ROMs
Once you have a new activation code, you should be OK, as the devcie code should stay the same till the next ROM flash!
Nealed: The Activation code is linked to the maps, not the application, so if you have one of these suspect ROMs, it shouldn;t matter which app version you have.
Would P3600 owners who have upgraded to the D810 WM6 upgrade please post their experiences here.
ie:
Did you run into problems doing the upgrade?
Did everything work properly after the upgrade?
Was it worth it or did you (or want to) go back to WM5?
Thanks
hi,
i have try to update my HTC P3600 with the oficial D810 WM6 rom!!!
result: i brick my phone!!! the rom update has stopped on 35%, and the PDA stop responding.
just recover it and go back to old ROM!
i will do it!!!
No problems to up and down
Hi, I upgrade to official ROM and any problems occurs, but I prefer PDAVIET Rom, then I downgrade the ROM and upgrade Radio to 1.46.30.11 and have all so far so good!
I hated everything about this ROM including the constant freezing of my Trinity. After 2 days I went back to AXEL's ROM and haven't looked back.
Updated yesterday morning with Dopod WM6 ANZ Rom and radio 1.46.30.11, and for me, it's paradize now...
Thanks for the replies! Anyone else with a positive experience?
I had problems with data connection with the ANZ Rom and Radio 1.46.30.11. Keeps disconnecting from the network Edge/HSDPA--could not use PIE or download email. However, with the SEA Rom and Radio 1.46.00.11 I had no problem. I think it's a Radio issue, at least for me on the USA Cingular/ATT network.

That brings up a good point. Has anyone tried this ROM on T-Mobile USA?
Fast and stable
I have the new aussie rom and the new radio rom 1.46.30.11 and it works perfect really fast and stable everything works...i am happy with it...
For those who successfully upgraded their P3600 to WM6, what technique did you use?
I tried doing a straight flash with ANZ ROM and was not successful. During the upgrade, the process stopped at 28%--similar to what some people have encounted. I got a screen with the new Bootloader 3.03.0000. In order for me to get out of that, I reflashed with a previous cooked ROM. It didn't flash through, but it did reset my Trinity.
While my Trinity is not BRANDED, I found that using the "HTC Trinity SIM CID Unlock" allowed me to successfully flash to the new ROM. I entered the device into the previous bootloader version 1.07.0000 prior to flashing.
As I've mentioned before, I had trouble with the radio version 1.46.30.11 with USA Cingular/ATT. I ended up using the SEA ROM with radio version 1.46.00.11 to flash the second time around.

Last night (14/7), I have upgrade my D810. No problem. According to the Guide, don't forget to take out MiniSD, battery is charged at least 50%, etc. In general the softwares for WM5 (Microsoft reader, Pocket e-Sword, Kevtris, etc) are compatible with WM6. Bass sound is good. I like WM6.
Thanks Thomas,
That's great information!
generally worked fine for me. I think mUns TE was more stable, but the battery discharging was annoying.
However a few issues:
1) Password for the web connection (GPRS) has vanished once or twice
2) Seems to lose GPRS data conenction once in a while
3) Biggest issue- the DEVICE ID has changed. This has messed up my TomTom Traffic subscription and TomTom support want a letter to prove this happened. ffs.
4) I think the main memory leaks away....
I finally decided to give WM6 a try on my P3600 but installed AX3L's all-in-one v2.0.8.1 ROM. It works well on T-Mobile's USA's network and is easy to install.
if the original rom gets stuck, what i did was flash to the original WM5 then reflash to the WM6 version.
I upgrade my D810 to WM6 and it cannot receive phone call using China mobile SIM card, used to work for the previous ROM update.

Thank you so much for the update, I have been looking at the Rogers website a while now looking for it.
Just completed the update. Went from HTC WM6 to this one. This version seems to have a lot more free memory and includes office mobile in the rom.
I am about to try switching from the HTC Generic WM6 ROM to the Rogers ROM as well hopefully it will fix the name display issue for me.
Woooo...maybe I should flash the "Offical" version from Rogers
Damn and I spent so much time flashing the HTC rom... any thoughts so far from this rom?

Just finished the upgrade from the Generic HTC WM6 ROM to the Rogers WM6 ROM. I have not yet bogged it down with all of my 3rd party apps but my general impression is that it seems much faster and responsive. I will update after all of my apps are re-loaded.
Definitely much faster and more memory available then the generic HTC ROM. My one wish is that I could have the Generic Comm Manager background back. The Rogers one is an ugly Blue with Yellow and Red Highlighting.
Hmm, this only work with Rogers?
Can someone post the Radio Version of this Rogers' WM6 update. TIA!

It will work on any HTC Excalibur variants, provided your device is CID Unlocked or loaded with the USPL, see HERE (thanks jockyw2001!)

Note that when you upgrade to the Rogers rom the SDA ApplicationUnlock isn't working ! When you reinstall the original software you can unlock your phone again.
I flash this ROM
but I cannot change the register key. when I use the resco to edit the key, it cannot be saved. is it locked by the ROM?

You can try using SDA ApplicationUnlock by installing this Cab file from Rogers. After installing the Cab file run the app unlocker and reboot your phone. Your phone should now be fully application unlocked

I definately prefer the Rogers WM6 ROM to the Generic HTC WM6 ROM. IT is much faster and more responsive plus it has more memory available. The only thing I don't like is the rogers branded startup and shutdown other than that this ROM seems much less bloated.
The Rogers WM6 does perform much better. IE doesn't use/leak as much memory. Does anybody know how to make a custom CAB file with registry settings and other preferences? I enjoy flashing a new OS on my phone daily, but it's the post-configuration stuff that's slowing me down.
When I got my replacement AT&T 8525, it came with the AT&T WM5 ROM. I decided to downgrade to the Cingular WM5 version since I didn't like the AT&T one. I've been skeptical about upgrading to the official WM6 release, and I figured that since I have some time tonight that I would. However, I do have a couple of questions about how this will work since I had to install a different bootloader in order to make the change back to the Cingular WM5 version possible.
Currently my settings are:
ROM version: 1.34.502.1
ROM date: 09/21/06
Radio version: 1.40.30.00
HardSPLv7
My question are, do I need to modify my radio version before I upgrade? Also, should I modify my bootloader before I upgrade to the official WM6? Thanks.
Firstly good job on flashing HardSPL.
your radio doesnt need to be changed at all, but if you want to take a peek at my tests here that might help you choose an appropriate radio version.
For WM6 DEFINATLY go for it, the updated stacks/drivers/kernel are definatly faster than the WM5 versions.
Give the pandora naked 7 ROM a shot........it will FLY.
Your settings can be restored for AT&T using the HTC network wizard (easily found with a search).......and make sure you backup all your contacts etc... using PIMBackup (in the development forum).
I keep getting an error 264 connection error saying that the update utility cannot connect to my phone. I've followed all the steps. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The only thing that sparks my mind that I don't remember occuring before is that when I plug my phone in via USB ActiveSync automatically begins, so I wasn't sure if I needed to disable that function or not since the instructions mentioned something about being sure that happens before installing the new ROM.
Any help? I'm still stuck here.
I just did mine (I am a brand new to all this) and I followed these steps word for word in this thread, adn man what a difference .
read these all the way through.

and after you upgrade the rom do this, but read it all before doing so
HTC plug in , great look for the 8525

Oh i forgot, the HTC att WM6 included the radio upgrade to the 1.48. which works great.
