augmented win mo game? - Windows Mobile Software Development

so here is a new game for the iphone
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/13/iphone-augmented-reality-game-sets-the-world-on-fire/#continued
and palm had a fun one where you did the same idea but shot flying little space invaders
why doesnt winmo have any good camera games?

i think because we dont have a good standard API for the cameras ,, thats a shame though ... goes for the accel too on my incite we dont get any accel enabled stuff ;-(

Something fishy
Fishopolis kinda does what you described... worked on my wizard back in the day.. unfortunately didn't work on kaiser or raphael
Sort of makes my post useless.. figured i'd post it anyway

iPhone Games on Touch HD ??

Is it possible to install and run g-sen enabled iPhone games on Touch HD ???
Only thing in iPhone which is beating touch Hd hands down are the games available for iphone . One of my colleague is rubbing it in all the time by showing amazing games on iPhone which is not possible on WinMo devices like diamond/pro or now HD.
games
Not sure if there are any games like that, but show him the things HD can do that iphone cant do. My daughter has an iphone, she doesnt play games, but other things such as tons of programs, Tom Tom are just a few. She walks away....
Oh yeah, thats also my question. I had seen on an IPhone of my friend "Super Monkey Ball". I fell completely in love with this game... But for sure, I'll by a Touch HD, can I port this game for windows mobile? Or does it exist already this game for wm? I really want this game.. Or at least, knows anyone here something equal? Greez, cad^^
I don't think it will be possible to port the games - besides the different Operating Systems there is one mayor difference in using the games -> MultiTouch
Yes, but for example "super monkey ball" doesn't use the touchscreen at all (besides for the menue, but this isn't multitouch), its a game only for the g-sensor. So, wouldn't it be possible to play the same game on the touch HD? Its suuuch a great game, really!!! Please, is there some hope? Greez, cad^^

Actually both even have similar processors, but the main problem is they run different operating systems, so if you dont port the application itself you would need some kind of emulator which might not only exceed the present processing power but also might not offer the same experience as if run natively.

Or would it not be possible for someone to figure out how to run Iphone OS on HD? Or is that even possible?
With a screen with twice the pixels than the iphone don't spect the HD to be able to move the screen on games smooth like iphone.I think only games using 3d aceleration can be smoother.... And why is not a Direct 3D standard on WM ?
I really like the bowling game on the iPhone. Is there an equivalent for WM?
Im interested in this to. If we currently cant port iphone games, then what games out there take advantage of the g-sensor and 3D drivers inside of the blackstone? It has to be more then tweeter.
hi !!
Is there any news about that...because to be honnest, I'm a little bit disapointed by HTC... I thought that more games would came for it...
Games!
Yep there don't appear to be any good games, the current crop such as machines at war or call of duty 2 have various bugs because of the high resolution. Apparently the hd actually has a custom graphics chip that HTC wont allow developers to access.
I wish someone could make HTC understand that with this screen if there were games comparable to the iphone the HD would have mass market appeal and blow the iphone away.
yah!!!
That is exactly what I also think... lets wait and see, maybe they need more time
an iphone emulator for hd
hi guys
there are some issue that we should notice :
1. i think we as developers should take participate in this and make emulator to run the iphone gamse on blackstone , waiting for game companies to figure it out is not a good way.
2. the multi touch problem will resolve in WM7 , so just be a little more patient fo it.
3. blackstone really need some thing to resolve this problem , if there is not , iphone will win.
4. please come together to make it right.
thanx all
Unfortunately, an iphone emulator is out of the question -- the two devices are too similar in processing power for one to be able to emulate the other. Running the iphone OS is also unlikely, given how much trouble there is even with running Android. All we can hope for are native ports of games, which, given the current market trend towards the iphone app store (e.g. warfare inc.), is unlikely.
i dont know ive i may post them and ive its freeware but i have a lot of games/funny stuff for the blackstone
dont know ive i may post it because i got it from somewhere else and i think some programs are cracked ive a mod can help ill upload it somewhere and send the link to you so the mod can check ive i may post it

porting games == having the sourcecode and doing the changes required for it to run on another platform
2 problems with iphone source code which makes it hard to port
1. it's objectiveC rather then c++ / c or c# which are the languages more used on wm
2. it use cocoa the apple version of .net kinda which don't exist on wm
another option is
redoing the whole game
writing it from scratch but thats a lot of work
i think ms has done a good job of persuading devvers to jump ship from iphone to winmo. i think that, by wm7, gaming will be far more commonplace on windows mobile.
games
Well there is a website with some pretty good freeware games. This is the link
www.krenisiswinmobilegamesapps.com
Has games like supermariobros, metalslug, and canabalt. They are all freeware but they are pretty fun.

Samsung Ominia

Has anyone made a ROM using the Samsung Ominia User Interface? i saw it on youtube the other day and it looks cool i was just wondering if anyone can make it.
I could. The Omnia interface is nice, but its not all that better than the M2D imo.

ofcoursee NOTHIN is better then ur ROM (1.27 BELL) that i m running ryte now NO doubt about that.
but its nice to have different things you know to see little change in our HTC TOUCH thats what i think. you dont have to do it just for me. beacause i do understand it takes countless amount of hours and hard work.
soo if more people agree and if they want it too, then ill kindly request you too make it.
I KNOW tht if ur gonna make it then it will be the BEST thing out there!!
thanxx alott bro
im sorry but that would be wicked !!!!!! the FEWedgets plugin was cool for a minute but boring, to limited.. and not tha best quality.. I aswell wouldn't ask for tha amount of work to be put in.. but 4real that would be pretty sick! imo
yea ehh thats what i thought
no doubt it takes lots of hard work but if we have more people wanting this
then we can kindly request NFSFAN to make one for us.
so can everyone who wants this ROM just post a reply saying "yea this would be nice or yes u want want this ROM.
yea this would be nice!
Hey all,
One of the guys I work with actually has one of these phones and I played around with it for a couple hours the other day, and IMHO the interface kinda sucks LOL
While the wow and cool factor lasted maybe 10 minutes or so the actual usability and functionality of the phone with added configs and settings didnt really do alot to the form and feel of the phone compared to anything custom on a WinMO device, Android (referring to the Vogue port of Android) or even the IPhone
Really, the adding and removal of the widgets are nice, but its through 5 hoops to get to any real apps or make any useful activity of the phone plus with the smallish screen on a vogue device the widgets would dominate the available area and with like the Omnia start apps without the intention of wanting them opened when trying to open something else.
Again, not against it, but seriously I dont see anything all that useful other than a few minutes of wowability until the omnia gui is unchecked and tf2d or standard WinMO UI would be re-enabled by the user - of course to each their own and if the desire is there enough someone will build it although I would personally love to see more progress into the area of WinMO 6.5 or 7 than the Omnias interface or even more stability and speed being developed and worked on for the existing 6.1 WinMO/Custom ROM that currently exist

I'm with him ^^^. The gui doesn't really appeal to me, but like I said, depending on the factor of people wanting this, I may consider making a ROM using it. When a reliable and real build of WM6.5 comes out, I will port it to the Vogue.
lol yea I kinda agree, still would be cool, just to say tho.. any possibilty geting a omina style on screen mouse cursor ? its cool in skyfire, but if possible to port that to be able to use thru out menues etc on a htc would be sick!
just a thought
I would also like this. It reminds me of the Android, with the removable widgets. It's nice to have a change every once in awhile!
Not gonna lie I would like to see this a lot
I would like it I'm actually thinking of getting one when my phone is up for renewal or a blackberry storm....just wish there was something new and exciting coming out just seem like we have maxed out the vogue. And android seems like a pain in the ass to get going from reading the thread to many damn steps and buttons that do the opposite of what they were intended to do?!??!
+1 on the boring UI. It would be cool, but the avail widgets are quite useless and can't be used with other plugins. One thing I found odd was that you can't lock the widgets into place, so everytime you click, they move.
I just think the mouse feature would be really cool to have.
Mouse
Hey, those of you wanting the mouse feature, you might wanna try a program called VirtuaMouse One-Hand. I know it's probably not the exact same but it's somewhat the same concept.

WP7S promotional video shows HD2!?

Is this HD2 or not, seems like HD2 when the kid is playing Xbox live games?
Video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eV16Ff0cFb0
Source:
http://pockethacks.com/windows-phone-7-series-promotional-video/
dont know, but for me it really looks like a HD2, but not only the handy of that kid, watch 0:35, dads handy looks like a HD2 too, cause u see the same camera xD
but yea, it just looks like
I think the hardware props used in the commercial are pretty inconsequential. HD2 probably just looks good on camera, so they used it.
That commercial really sucks though. MS better be trying to make better and more affective commercials than Apple. If WP7S is such a different phone, then turn down the background music and have someone explain how great and different it is! That commercial didn't make windows phone look appealing whatsoever
Yeah Microsoft really just needs to show the phone's UI and show what all the hubs can do in commercials.
Also I think it would be funny if they did a commercial saying there's a phone for that. Need to take high resolution picture? There's a phone for that. Need a keyboard to type faster? There's a phone for that. What a large screen with big text for easy reading? There's a phone for that!
@Kloc lmao.
pretty neat feature how the screen is projected into thin air. kinda like a hologram thing. thats really the only benefit im seeing that WP7 has to offer over other phones and OSs available today.
but on a more serious note...
WhyBe... i completely agree with you about the commercial. the iphones greatest selling point is the huge amount of apps available for it. so thats the main spear in their marketing campaign... an iphone ad is pretty much just an appstore ad - mainly speaking of TV commercials.
this commercial for WP7 has little-to-no information about the OS/features that distinguish it from other smart phones (and some non-smart phones) currently available.
It looks nice... But it doesn't look like the HD2 I own...
Anyone has pink glasses, maybe i'll see it then?

VR Hologram for Android?

Had this on my Diamond and wondered if there was anything available similar. I have checked myself on the net but so far couldn't find anything.
Maybe someone could create one.
i was looking for the same thing, but i geuss nobody has done it yet.
to bad, it would be really cool to have somthing like that.
Re VR Hologram
Yes, loved it on my Diamond.
Come on guys, someone must be able to create one.
no disrespect, but i'm geussing it might be a lot more difficult then it sounds or looks.
i'm really NOT a computer-specialist, but it sounds really difficult to create a software that can do the things this program can do.
i mean, it checks your movement, it calculates the motion, it adjust the picture, etc.etc. and all of that on several levels.
maybe it's just not doable.
I'm sure integrating the accelerometer and the Compass, that can be achieved.
Interesting, but then what ? I mean, would this application be useful in some way ? orientation+accelerometer and some math *_*

yeah, like there are no widgets or apps that are useless, but just fun.
i've got a few apps that don't do anything, except something a bit funny.
does it have to be usefull?
i've got quake 3 on my phone, is that usefull?
it's just cool to show that your phone can do that, besides that VR program (which they had running on the htc diamond) looks really cool.
it has no purpose, but it just looks awesome.
but perhaps it's just way to difficult to port a windows mobile app to android.
This thing? What's the point?
I want!!
..
It's called cgPerspective
I almost was worrying that nobody would ask for it.
I loosely ported the application to Java and OpenGL, you can find it on the market as cgPerspective. (cgPerspective)
I would appreciate feedback in how I could enhance it even more.
Thanks
Excellent stuff

do you know of 1 single app that shows a really cool virtual show off wath a phone like this can do with visual entertainment?
there is none.. except for this thing.
there is no app that uses it's possibilities, and no game that does.
still, it's possible, but apparently nobody ever though that visual beauty would work great in games (ooh wait, they do, but no programmer for phones ever thought of it...).
so it's an awesome app to just show you what can be done.

looks great dude, awesome.
but i wonder why it reacts a bit sluggisch...
there's this tiny delay between the movement of the phone and the movement of the image.
to bad i can't zoom in or out.
but still, it looks great.
it's almost the thing that i was searching for.
oh so cool!!
any more ports of iphone 3d hologram apps?
There are so many wonderful hologram apps for the iphone, those must be possible to make for the iphone too right?
looking forward to see them in the marketplace
cgperspective works like a charm on my Desire..
Dennis
VR live wallpaper:
where can I download this? It is awsome..
Heh, that is really neat!! Thanks for doing it. The only thing that could make it even better is if you could add a zoom feature. I have the HTC Desire.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but this is pretty cool on the ipad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1StCGhmjvI&feature=player_embedded#
Wish something like this would come to Android.
VR Hologram running on my HTC Touch HD... I think, an Android-version would be great!
Edit: Ohh, VR live wallpaper seems to be great...

[q] a little hope for rhodium

i have been around xda for awhile now (owning the Tilt 2) and found that many people have lost hope in the Android project. Some say that the internal hardware is just to "old" to play decent games on the android marketplace. But when i look at the tech specs for the Rhodium and see a 528 mhz processor with 512 mb of ram, i question myself. Obviously not as impressive as other phones now a days, but lets take the Ipod touch 2nd generation for instance. The hardware inside both devices seem to replicate one another (i mean acccording the tech specs the ipod touch is clocked at 533 mhz but isnt the Blazn android clocked at 700 mhz or plus!) maybe its a graphic card issue (correct me if im wrong), but i dont find this hardware that "old." I personally own a Ipod touch 2g and it runs games beautifully, but then again, it could be the os. Tell me if my thinking is totally off, or is there hope in the Rhodium android dev.
Also, it seems like the HTC leo (HD2) android dev went up quick and works 99% perfect (or should a say evo status without the front facing camera?). The possibilty for the Rhodium is greater than what people actually think.
I tend to agree. If you look at the specs on the device, you cant replace all the features it has with anything on the market yet, till the TP3 is out. Its a Saphire on steriods. I wont give this phone up till it breaks. My only wish was a front camera. If we get the camera going, what cant you do with it that a saphire will do

First, the RHOD has 288mb of RAM.... Second, the specs on the HD2 are ridiculously better - similar to most Android phones, hence the porting job for them was a breeze. Plus, they had a dev that was really, really good at disassembling WinMo dll's, so that made the porting job easier for them as well.
We might be able to get it up to a level of the Vogue... but your iPod Touch is a very, very different device from your RHOD. Lot less for your iPod to worry about then your RHOD...
Devs are makin great progress tho, I feel confident we can get it to a level where it would be comparable to a native Android device with similar specs - like the G1.

The legendary dev I speak of has helped us immensely already... he doesn't want money.
It's just he doesn't have the device himself, and it's not worth his time working on the RHOD... Already tried to get him a device, he wouldn't have it
Either way, he's a very helpful individual - we just have to go to him with very specific questions/problems, which is being addressed. We're getting there, progress is flying lately.

ahh yes.. the infamous dev has helped us many times. BUT if you read the logs far back enough we did help them plenty of times as well. I guess it was exciting for me specially since having gone through it with the tp2 it was nice to lend a helping hand when the project was in it's infancy stages. The HD2 apparently is far easier to program according to those devs.. they look at the tp2 and wonder why htc made such a beast. It really is a weird device compared to the others we see.
We also went through a rough time losing some key devs this year. Thats never easy for such a small team that has never even met.
still .. we are getting close cheers
It has come a long way in the last 2 months, you guys are doing great! Keep up the good work
Other techies have taken double takes a few times when im playing angry birds on a wimo phone.. Its always entertaining.....
Tech: "Who's playing that darn game"
Me: "Dont look at me, im a wimo guy"
