How well does it work? What FPS do you get for the average game? If it's like 12 then it's not really worth it =/
But if it's above 24 then count me in!
EDIT: I think you meant a NES emulator... not SNES...
I'm confused -- it this for NES or SNES games or both? It appears to be for NES games.
What are you guys talking about!?!? it clearly says NES XD!!! (I edited lol)

It is a NES emulator. I don't know if there are any good NES games worth playing lol.
SNES would be awesome.

hmmmm, I have no clue what this is or what it means, can you please explain so I can be in the loop?
also......here is a link to a pocket SNES
http://freewareppc.com/download/utilities/pocketsnes.shtml
Oh it means frame rate per second.
So how choppy the game is. The human eye can hardly tell the difference in 24FPS and 30FPS is good. 60FPS being the best.
it only runs at about 15 to 25 right now, but there is a new version coming out that has been leaked all over the net that will allow you to play any game balls to the wall. everything 60+

The NES has tons of good ROMs. The problem I have with TP2 NES emulation (I use Smartgear) is the spacing of the buttons. They're too far apart for fast reactions in games like Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. I miss the 5-way on my Treo 650.

So i've tried GBA, SNES, NES and they all kinda run crappy. Nes is the only one that runs well, and I can play the other two with sound turned off. GBA and SNES both are slow and have audio glitches, clicks and such.
I was under the impression that SNES would run excelent, is that the case for anyone?
Which ones are you using? The ones that end with oid work great (by Yongzh). I use SNESoid and NESoid, and they both run flawlessly. I haven't tried the paid versions of the GBA and Genesis ones yet, but if they are anything like the SNES and NES ones, they are well worth the money.
SNESoid works perfectly. I'm not quite sure what you're smoking.
Yeah the oid emulators work great

yep, SNESoid and NESoid are the bombbbbb and work just fine.
i have tried a few from the marketplace..
While the snes ones are still a little laggy (on the evo atleast), the genesis one seems fine.
Hi people
I been trying out all sorts of different emulators to find ones which best suit the phone. I come to a conclusion that emulators for super nintendo and sega megadrive and anything else which is based off of 4 button and d pad controllers are the best playable on phones. obviously people will want to try and get the most up to date graphic games emulators but i found without good game play these do not matter. but i was hoping that everyone who uses emulator could share their own opinions in this thread for people who are looking for the answers that myself and others once did
i cant seem to find a sega master system emulator to work on sgs2 if anyone knows of one please let me know. snes9x ex is great for super nintendo and its totally free from the market
Im using 2 emulators now,
FPSe for PlayStation 1
N64oid for Nintendo 64
They both work well, though not perfect. On the FPSe I play Final Fantasy VIII, Tekken 3, Tony Hawk 3.. Quake 2 is weird to play, Metal Gear Solid doesnt work for me.
On N64oid I play Zelda Ocorina of time, which again works but not perfect. Some graphical glitches and sometimes crashes. I also tried Mario 64, Zelda Majoras Mask. Super smash bros doesnt work
So overall they are great, but I really hope the devs will start optimizing these emulators for the Galaxy S II!
Oh, and good thread. There should be a big thread emulators in general.. At least. Maybe seperate thread for each emulator.

For me it's not so much the system but the game. For example Mario Kart on snes is not great as it's awkward to use the "bumper" buttons to jump round corners. Whereas Diablo on PSX works perfectly control-wise.
It's all just trial and error to see how controls translate to touch screen devices.

I'm on VillainROM 1.1 (KE7) so maybe that's the difference (I've also got Chainfire3D installed)?
Controls are actually pretty good and it's quite playable. No lag or anything. It's more fun than any game Gameloft makes that's for sure
*accidentally thanked you too, lol. you can keep that *
Alright, this is trivial. For those who have the GS2, hows the performance with Nintendo 64 emulator and roms? Sadly, my original Evo doesn't handle it well.
Why don't you check the gs2 forums and do some searching... lol, btw... this is the top phone on the market. It handles it well.
Try searching next time.

Have the newest n64oid. Its running smoooth. Would be better with a gamepad. I am used to using the epic 4g keyboard as the gamepad so playing on screen with the analog is weird to me.
Was just playing James Bond Goldeneye.
Every few mins I hear a sound stutter but it could be my rom because the 007 Worlds not enough game has no sound but Mario kart 64 has working sounds.
I'm just sad that I lost all my gamesaves
Btw sent from my E4T! Lol or ET. Hmm wonder what people will call this as a acronym.

Hey, what is the NAME of that emulator? No links, no downloads (unless it's free...don't post warez), but the name of the emulator so I can go find it (and buy it).
Thanks, I wanna try this out. My emulators work beautifully, even Mario RPG on the SNES, which ran like garbage on my OG Evo.

Figured since some of us already have their N7's and most will be receiving their toys in the next week, we can start discussing gaming!
Holding the tablet itself, i can tell this is going to be a comfortable gaming experience, i think the bezels are just right and the weight is great for extended holding periods.
What games are you planning on trying out first?
What are some games that you want to recommend?
What are some games that you are looking forward to?
We can also discuss game compatibility, game controller solutions (wireless and wired), and other :highfive:

I know the first game that I will be installing and playing is Dead Trigger. It's got zombies and stuff... 'nuff said.
I currently have FF3 on my I/O but will add ME;I & Shadowgun THD when I get my 16GB.
Watching them demo Horn during the keynote was very impressive. Unfortunately it's not currently available and I can't find any information as to when it will be

I want FF3 so bad but can't justify the price.. yet! haha
I'm going to install 4 games first, in this order... GTA 3, Max Payne, Dead Trigger, and The Amazing Spiderman!
Horn, the game that was unveiled at the I/O looked so cool, really looking forward to that!
The very first thing i wanted to do when I got home with my Nexus 7 was download and play NOVA 3, and of course it crashes every time at startup. So disappointed. Knowing Gameloft it will be months before they make it Tegra 3 compatible.
dead trigger and heroes call, cant wait! got my wired 360 controller and a ps3 controller so i have choices.lol
GTA runs great compared to on my Gnex. Max Payne took awhile to download but runs great!
I want to test out a PSX emulator and an N64 emulator sometime tomorrow!

+1 on this. Cool thread. Can't wait to start trying some tegra 3 games. I'm into rpgs and fps. Been playing max Payne on my evo LTE and its damn good. Wanna try on n7. From past experience with xoom, fpse looks to pixelated on tablets but I'm sure ill try it. Runs great on my phone tho for both ff7 and ff9.

N64oid and FPSE, I wish i had a Wii controller to use over bluetooth.
For FPSE i tested Diablo, THPS2, THPS4, Spiderman 2, Dave Mirra, Spyro, Tekken 3, and Gran Turismo 2 (crashed)
For N64oid i tested Starfox 64, Mario Kart 64, and Super Smash Bros.
Anyone know if there is a way of using a wireless Xbox 360 controller on the N7? I have the wireless receiver thing and I'd like to use my controller if I can, but I don't really want to buy a wired 360 controller just for my tablet when I already have wireless ones sitting here.

Yeah I didn't think so. Oh well, I'm quite happy playing Starfox 64 on this thing so that'll do for now
I wanted to buy Machinarium with the Google Play credit but it's not compatible with the N7 yet :/
Just paired my PS3 controller via Bluetooth through Sixaxis Controller. Works like a charm, i might put together a quick guide how to do it.
Made a custom mapping profile for GTA 3 and planning on making one for all major games specifically for the Nexus 7
I'll upload them here of course :good:

Just watch out it sometimes prompts you to download applications, so make sure you read all the pop up windows. Otherwise compatibility and smoothness are awesome! Overall good emulator
Use My Boy! Free - GBA Emulator for gbc/gba. You will need to find the bios for this though.

My personal chart:
N64:
Super N64 (tried Super Mario 64 and Smash Bros both flawlessy)
Mupen64Plus AE (a bit outdated but will be ported to OUYA in near future so we can expect a better optimization for tegra devices, to be IMHO monitored)
GBA:
GBA.Emu (Compatible even with golden sun 1/2 music tracks, have a problem with mario advance 4 music otherwise i'd say perfect).
My Boy!
Gameboid (Not available on market anymore)
PSX:
epsxe (Tried only Tekken 3 and it's perfect).
NDS:
NDS4Droid (Around 30-50% speed but I'd say good compatibility).
DSoid (Less compatible but with some games emulated up to 80-90% speed. Games like FF XII Revenant Wings and Fire Emblem don't work correctly).
SNES:
SuperGNES
Snesoid (No more available on market)
PSP:
PPSSPP (No other alternatives but to be an early version it's IMHO very good).
Awesome guys I appreciate the help.

I just started playing with SuperGNES. It is a very well made emulator. Downloads coverart and lots of neat features. Scans your storage automatically. Very easy to use. Probably the best emulator I've ever used.
I also do PSX using FPse but it is a crap shoot. Games play great mostly but the interface is clumsy and require lots of tweaking each time. Some settings don't seem to want to stick after a restart. OpenGL plugin makes games look very good though. I'm currently mid way through FF7. Games play full speed in normal mode and a about 40-60fps using OpenGL.
Those really are my two consoles I really like to emulate.
I also use a Moga controller. I also have a PSx tethered (4.2.1 screwed up sixaxis wireless support afaik).

Way to go guys, you just recommended the same exact emulator, but one is riddled with adware and downloads, not to mention the author probably stole the source code and is profiting off of it without the permission of the guy who actually ported it. (Paul Lamb, paulscode.com and author of Mupen64plus) Also, Mupen64 Plus is NOT outdated. He simply hasn't pushed the latest updates to the Play Store yet. Version 2.0 is coming out soon with multiplayer support (Multiple controllers on one device) and a nice cheat system. You can try some bleeding edge builds here. - http://www.paulscode.com/forum/index.php?topic=723.0
Plays great and the interface is much better. Please don't support those assholes who take other people's work for a quick buck.
Yup, there are recent builds of mupen64 - ad free and fully open source. I'd say the games run almost as well as n64oid, but I like it better because of its great gamepad support.
