I am looking to get a new windows mobile htc phone. Of course its that time of year an my two year contract happends to be up in feburary so im available for a full upgrade. So im just trying to get some advice from the more experienced programmers, developers as to what kind of phone would you recommend? I would like it if they made a phone like the dash 3G but also with touch screen.. Do they make anything like that right now? I have looked at plenty of phones and am leaning towards the HTC touch pro but im iffy...
HTC Touch Pro is a nice phone.. i actually have a link on some right now are you in toronto area ? i can sell you one in brandnew condition just battery and phone no box or accessories but works we just have these phones left in the back we are a SP ppc test company they are coming up for sale. let me know 175$ cnd cash only in person. ?
Vtheme aka touchFlo 3D Pro wannabe lol its great..
on the s621, touch pro tho in my opinion is best hTC pocket Pc to date i think, even nicer looking then the Touch Pro 2.
Long Live the wm 6.5 HTC S621 and Touch Pro.. Best PPC

It's in 10.10 shape was only used 2 charges maybe.. no box ya an anything lol.
I like the S621 cause its keyboard design keys fn.. symbol camera button, IE, and email etc keys are nice i have a Ozone aswell an touch pro but Touch pro is worth getting they rock best design overall and fast and does eveything you want why by a HD when the touch is just as good moreless, still hTCs best looking ppc to date i think. Ozone is a nice phone tho dash 3G is nice a proper hTC Snap : )) touch pro is a wonder for touchflo etc homescreens cabs lots stuff to download to make it do a lot of cool things.
Owning them both i'll make my view:
The s620 is an awesome phone still, but slow processor low on storage and RAM but a nice layout regards smartphone.
CPU:Clock: 201 MHz
RAM_capacity: 64 MiB
ROM-capacity: 128 MiB
Display-Resolution: 320 x 240 (QVGA)
Cellular-Data:Links: CSD, GPRS, EDGE
The Touch Pro is more recent device with better specs and a far easier nicer interface with TF3D also far more programs available.
CPU:Clock: 528 MHz
RAM_capacity: 288 MiB
ROM-capacity: 512 MiB
Display:Resolution: 480 x 640 (VGA)
Cellular_Data_Links: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA
Now my s620 is used by the gf the Kaiser is sat on my desk (being cooked) & the TouchPro is in my hand
Hope that helps

I would try an get a HTC Dash 3G as the A key is in a bad spot on the snap especially if you are used to the S621 layout but i would honestly get a HTC Ozone.

just wait a bit and get the HD2
1GH SNAPDRAGON!
Wow I checked out the HD2 an that is an awesome phone but I still may have to go with the touch pro only because of a vast price difference.. But, the HD2 still maybe an option. Its a toss up now, time to draw straws.. LoL.. Thanks..
Like the title of my thread, will it be possible?

thats an HD2 not an TP2, HD2 is the only device from HTC which will be official compatible with WM 7.
because WM7 needs a capacitive tochscreen it will not work on TP2.

hi realy dont think so since wm7 needs a captive screen and needs all the hardware like hd2 manely or tp2 cant handle this
Time to upgrade my TP2 as soon as Win Mo 7 is out.

Haha, I hope they will release TP3 in time with WP7 I'm also curious about the dual core snapdragon processors which are announced with the end of this year
Regards
When I had the T-Mobile Wing they said we could not get WM6.5 and now thanks to XDA we have it. Now I have the TP2 and even though the screen doesn't support some of the command I would not be surprized if there was success in getting WM7 onto this phone (limited in functionality and may be very slow). At any rate I will be getting the HD2 on March 24 when it comes out to T-Mobile.

IMHO, the GUI is not that complex that you really need complex hardware. If MS really wanted, i believe it could run on a TP2 too (even with multitouch). 529Mhz is not that slow. And your TP2 has OPENGL 1.1? hardware which is not really used very well.
But like MS said, they put a lot of work to let the hardware and software work really together. Which in other words they say you need to buy new hardware (faster CPU, OPENGL 2.0; base ram 512MB)
Even now it could technically run on HD2, the HD2 device is not officially compliant with the 3 hardware buttons a Win7 mobile device needs (back, start , search). I wonder how to map the search button.
Let's only hope!
I am sure that if someone can get the current ROMs for the HD2, which are technically designed for a capacitive screen, to work on the TP2, I would bet money that someone will be able to port it over and make it work. We won't really know until stuff starts getting leaked. That would be great though. I would really like to give WP7 a test run before dumping $500 on a new phone!!
TP2 will be able to run WP7 (maybe there might be problems with OpenGL ES 2.0 missing). The right question is - will MS make BSP for it? I highly doubt it.

Yep me too. Although i'm gonna ditch my TP 2 as soon as I get confirmation of WM7 running on the hd2.
I saw somewhere that Windows Phone 7 will require a 1ghz processor. The HD2 has that and the Touch Pro 2 doesn't.
If someone does get Windows Phone 7 ported over, it's likely going to run a little slowly.
don't forget mandatory 4 point multitouch... that might be a problem for full functionality.
I seem to remember the guy who introduced WM7 (WPS7) saying something about the 7 series being slated for all manner of new phones including those with and without keyboards (I think he made reference to phones similar to BBs with keyboards on the face of the phones)...So unless the price of processors comes down significantly I really don't think every new phone running this 7 series OS will meet such demanding base requirements (1GHz processor, capacitive multitouch screens etc., etc.).
YES!

Touch Pro Series The Best Option HTC have!
according to several websites like: http://www.redmondpie.com/htc-hd2-to-get-windows-mobile-7-upgrade-9140128/ the HD2 will get windows mobile 7. but TP2 will most likely be up to the devs here at the XDA if they can do it. My feelings are that if they can get android going on TP2 (so far so good) then they can do windows mobile 7.
In my opinion, our devices are transition devices, most of us are waiting/hoping for a TP3 better than HD2, or at least with similar specifications as the HD2.
TP2 runs WP7, but it reminds me of my old Artemis with WM65 and TF2D, .
We´ll see it coming soon.
Cheers.
i have a blue angel runnign wm 6.5 so anything is possible especially if there is enough interest.
I understand why the move makes sense for MS but personally from what I've seen of WM7 I'm in no hurry for it to get here. Now if i could get my TP2 with a 1ghz cpu i might look at it but until the smart guys here at XDA figure out how to get past WM7's limitations i'm not in any rush to give up what I have.
It might be able to run it, but Microsoft and HTC aren't going to release anything needed to make an unofficial port happen. Sorry, but it's extremely likely that the TP2 is not going to get WM7, officially or otherwise.
And to everyone who always cites the example of Windows Mobile 6.5 running on an old device, I hate to break it to you but it's not that easy when dealing with WM7. Windows Mobile 7 is based off the Windows CE 6.0 kernel, while Windows Mobile 5 and 6.x are powered by the same CE 5.2 kernel, making a port of WM 6.x to a WM5 device pretty easy. It's much more difficult when you have a different kernel with from an OS that doesn't support most of your hardware, as it means someone has to create a BSP themselves.
No multi-tasking = No dice for me! It'd be like a downgrade! Loving my TP2 with Deep Shining Rom. I use my phone for a whole manner of things, usually business orientated. If I wanted the type of phone the Windows mobile 7 looks like it's gonna introduce, I would've bought an IPhone!
why it is so slow on version touch pro, and why there are many bugs on verizon?
there is no sound when i run android on my verzion touch pro and when i give a phone call to my friend,i can here what he said, but he can't here what i said?
who can tell me which ROM can solve these peoblems?

i dont think slowness is caused by you service provider...
No dev has a RAPH500 to play with (to my knowledge) and the kernel for the 500 is in the doldrums as a result. Sorry, until someone more knowledgeable about coding that has a 500 steps up, or one of the devs gets their hands on a 500, progress will be slow.
You also realize that VZW crippled their version of the TouchPro right? It's working with something like half the RAM available to the 110's or 800's.
How do I get there?
I've been playing with android on my htc titan and just bought a Raph500 off ebay. How can I help get the raph500 off the ground? According to wikipedia the raph500 has 192MB ram, which should be usable. The HTC titan only has 64, and android almost works. I'd like to learn more. Is that what chef central is all about?

the at&t version (htc fuze) has 288 mbs and i know in WM around 90 mbs are always free. also the htc titan is a much more understood phone on how everything works and is not as complex/ undocumented as the touch pro.
if your asking about chef central its not for you but seriously the people that makes android for wm phone or roms are called "chefs" and their roms are what they "cook" (its like a inside joke) but it is were all the new chefs go to get tools or help from experienced developers (or called devs)
question, if your on verizon, why are you using a touch pro and trying to run an android rom on it, if you want android, you should be using the droid eris, droid, or droid incredible. those are much better options for android on verizon than using a rom to try to run it on a WM phone.

If we all used this logic, then this project probably wouldn't exist at all. People are tied to contracts, don't want to buy a new phone, like their TP, for whatever reason... They'd rather run it as a ported project. I will probably get an Android-based device eventually - but until I do it's pretty cool to be able to run Android on my WinMo phone. I'm sure he just feels the same way...
I was just wondering if it is possible to have windows mobile, 6.5 or the new 7, installed on the HTC hero (G2 touch)
No, this is impossible!!
My wife has Hero. It's quite nice but not a performance monster.
Why want WinMo for a device that has quite oldie CPU and android-based design? =)
Hi, I am looking at buying an HTC Wildfire S to activate on Virgin Mobile. I want the Qualcom MSM8227 (not the 7227 that most Wildfire S phones have). The specific phone is released on US Cellular.
Code:
htc dot com/us/products/wildfires-uscellular/
I can get it unlocked on Amazon for $200-$250. I BELIEVE it is the A510e but I have seen differing specs, so any Wildfire with the 8227
Code:
amazon dot com/HTC-A510e-Unlocked-Android-Bluetooth/dp/B0055DXZZY/ref=pd_cp_cps_0
My two questions:
Is the 8227 as great as it is made out to be? What version ARM is it?
Will I be able to activate it on VM (again, I'm buying unlocked, I'm more asking people's experience with non-carrier-branded devices on Virgin)? (if not, what prepaid service can I in the USA, I'm not tied to Virgin Mobile, and their utter lack of Google Voice integration steams my peas).
Bonus: Given the hardware difference, what are my chances of easily attaining S-OFF and Root and flashing a custom (Ideally Cyanogen) ROM on it. I'd kill for CM9 but I have my EVO 3D and ThinkPad Tablet for that (eventually), CM7 would be nice, even CM6 would be very acceptable.
I ended up buying a Samsung Intercept and hacking that (UbuntDroid, Cyanogen was not flawless) but it is still a slow as heck pile of crap and we both hate it equally.
I used to have an HTC Aria so I know HTC can put out a decent 600MHz phone, I'm wondering if the 8227 is the same ARM version as my HTC EVO 3D (MSM8660). I know it is geared towards low end, but will it run Firefox (the Aria and Intercept do not), and overclocking aside, is it a good processor/phone.
I love me some HTC so I'm hoping for favorable answers above. I don't care about cell phone carriers, as long as it's not AT&T (which unfortunately rules out GSM entirely in my area). I am located in Central Vermont for anyone generous enough to suggest carriers.
And honestly, as long as I can activate it at some point, that's fine. She HATES it when I spend money on her (perfect? yea she is lol) so this is going to be a "toy" for me for a while until I "get bored with it". Yeah it's obvious and yeah she still gets mad but I have that technicality to fall back on
In an unrelated but while-I'm-here question, I have an Ex with whom I have a joint sprint account and she just trashed her EVO 3D screen and is in need of a new phone, something reliable (it was always crashing on her), just wondering if an EVO 4G with Cyanogen is as bulletproof (software wise) as you can get with Android on Sprint as I am going to end up surprising her with a new phone eventually.
I think u have to use virgin mobile only phones on there network, (I could be wrong) if you want a faster procesor there are oc kernels that will oc to 806 mhz compared to stock 600mhz , I'm not sure what you mean about low end arm processor, the wildfire s are good phones
