I'm working getting a build together, but am a little out of touch with what's the latest and most popular cab's going around.
If you can, please post or PM me samples of what you'd like a new rom to work with. Idealy they'd be dialpads, comm managers, today screen, etc. I'll do what I can to be sure they work with the base build.
It's currently at 82.74 Storage and 30.18 Program, with just camera 4.0 installed. Testing battery usage and stability...

And a welcome return to the kitchen sir
The file manager dutty (the old dutty) released a while back which is based on GSFinder+ is a great file explorer to use, JJ released the black ROMs for a while with it.
Gimme a sec i'll get the files zipped up.......done
I ALWAYS use it, support for zips and just runs RINGS around the stock file explorer.
Current chefs I like
Are CRCinAU and Abusalza (PDACorner)
I haven't seen any compressed or big storage ROMs that work well with activesync with exchange 2k7.
In my opinion HTC Home is a must as it has the launcher, the weather, the profile settings.
Some people don't like it because of it takes up so much realestate, but I beg to differ because of the features above.
I also would like setaccousticparam.exe to run upon install of a ROM it helps a lot with sound, PDACorner V19 and most of the DVH roms are good like this.
Split MMS, with arcsoft MMS 4.2.81 is also wanted. and of course the 1% battery DLL would be good too.
What I like is storage, stability, and looks, which I am unable to find them combined together! Oh I also like video calling and am a heavy data user.
CRCinAU is coming out with something real special, might worth talking to him. But again, his hasn't got the looks I want, I like nice icons, some sounds while clicking and colours on the task bar, come on it's a 2 year old gadget, let's spice it up a bit! What MS CE OS build are you working with?
As for files, PDACorner has a bunch of cabs that works with most builds these days including CRC's
Further thoughts on naked light roms:
I don't understand why people look for such ROM, as far as I can see your SD Lists are as long as a trip to Bombay! Might as well get them cooked in, the necessities as they are what we all use. I am happy at least with PDACorner with the different things well cooked in, speed and not compromising stability. I am only putting the heads up on the returning chef. Let's face it I am lazy, and who isn't sorting out SD config list compatibilities etc. I like nice icons I like colours on my task bar, I don't like S2U2 at times it conflicts with BT voice commander commands as far as microsoft goes.
Further thoughts again, you guys should stick to one chef, and get them to make things the way you like it and reward the damn chef accordingly. I see people jumping from chef to chef, and yet I see some chefs only make so little from what is considered as a full time job.
These are only my 2c

I like iContact, but PocketCM is ok too.
I generally install UltimateLaunch myself (via Sashimi auto-install), so I prefer a Rom that doesn't waste space with anything else. With that I use TodayAgenda, and other 3rd party apps for weather, etc.
Don't like Big Storage. Also staying away from compressed ROMs.
Do like big Program Mem.
Lately I've mostly played with ROMs from CRCinAu and PDACorner.
Stability and Speed are the most important. Since I'm not a data user, I tend towards the "Lite" ROMs, since I figure most stuff I can install myself (tho I get the impression some things run faster if cooked in? Haven't unravelled that mystery yet).
For Comm Mgr I am not too picky.. however its nice to have a ROM where either a) the CommMgr has a vibrate button or b) push-and-hold on the Comm button toggles that (yes I can install after, so not a big deal)
For dialer, the bigger the buttons, the better, and easy access to call-history and contacts list (recently there has appeared an infinitely un-useful IMO
screen when you "hide keypad" before making any call.. seems to be more a function of the ROM than the dialer tho...)
Looks are nice.. function is better.
Any task manager is welcome.
matt isn't this for a naked ROM for the kitchen that you use to do where we can install cook our own apps in? If so then theres no need to have HTC home or any other crap loaded as you can cook it yourself.
ANYWAY matt I'm glad to see you back and can't wait to try out the kitchen with new ROM..
here are some cabs..all of these work with the latest 6.1 ROM's
Don't forget Call Firewall. Personally I use Total Commander instead of File Manager, but that's personal taste. I'm not a fan of the S2(fill in the blank), and definitely not a fan of any menus with large fonts.
Would also like to have a theme where the top/bottom bars are glossy black, and just a plain black background (not the diamond background)
Thanks for the feedback and especially the files!
After I'm sure it's good and stable, I'll open the "pandora's box" and get a new kitchen setup for the masses.
Most of my old OEM Packages are outdated, so there's lots of work to do to get new ones built from around the site.
realty clean clean latest build AKU 1.3.3 (no MMS, NETCF,office, HTC Home) compressed with big storage will be very welcome
the minimum files in windows folder the better

Agreed..
I think some people think your actually like making a full ROM or something which is not the case. For those who don't know he makes a very clean naked ROM and releases with the kitchen and OEM packages so you can COOK your own apps in and make it the way you want.
So it might save some time and not ask for a bunch of apps cooked in..Provide some cabs and maybe there will be an OEM version of it.

Yes it does. I've using it for a week now and works perfectly.
people here says right things, but few corrections. htc home, snaps tools, and .net3.5 difenetly must be included. as for me no need to include ms office and mms. maybe you need to include dutty task manager, and sort of comm manager which allow to use 10- buttion stile. and personal reqest from me - cab whith dialpad, I'm from ukraine - so english dialpads not for me. and if you provide cab I will translate it by myself.
you doing great things - wish you inspiration, and if you need some photoshop work with rom - my icq in profile, will help whith pleasure.
Many of you who flashed WM6.5 are happy with Titanium but face the problem of decide to keep better looking and fresh WM6.5 Titanium or going back to dull Manila because of its better functionality accessing applications.
I am happy with Titanium since i installed Touch Commander and got two scrolling pages, one scrolling up for Photo Contacts and another scrolling left or right for applications, links or folder access.
I suggest everybody facing this situation to try it and will never want to go back
Manilla vs wm6.5
thanx for u comment i think if the rom is fast and steady why chanced
better look ???new drivers new interface, better performance really don't know i
very happy whit manilla of course not the standard one
any screens/vids of what this might look like?
I don't think manilla is dull, I actually lik the GUI better than WM home page since it is cleaner and slicker, and has functionality at every tab rather than just one giant menu with small rectangular blocks that you cant fit anything inside of. It will just take you longer to do what you wanna do.
I want to wait for a speedy, stable WM 6.5 rom with TF3D2 from the Topaz ROM HTC finalized and fixed the major issues in. I that they cleaned up the scrolling bars and tabs found in the uglier WM 6.1! But the menu enhancements on the new Topaz rival the finger friendlier menus of WM 6.5 in my opinion.
Just my two cents but you sound pretty ecstatic about the marriage of WM 6.5 with Touch Commander so I am curious what that looks like, how it performs, etc.
looks are debatable; but titanium definitely feels much more responsive than manila (rhodium or otherwise)
it'd be nice to get manila up to that speed; or at least add in little things to titanium onto the main wm tabs (like weather)
but i think u can hv both Manila and Titanium from WM 6.5 at the same time
i flashed a WM6.5 rom with XBMod Rhodium Manila installed, and it works fine except for the Windows Live Application
I am liking titanium and I think it will be better than manila in the end one more and more tabs become avalible for it.
I think Manila2 > Titanium > Manila
I just love the extra facebook functionanlity of the Rodium manila and HTCs music player is much better to use when compared to WMP, the calender is prettier on Manila 2, as is the contact launcher.
I just love titanium, but i miss some thing from it.
Here it is my thread about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503045
Actually im begining to prefer titanium now, the fact that it doesnt hog the memory anywhere near as much and you can customise it quite a bit is good. I think that alot of extra tabs will start to appear soon and I will definetly be using it over manila
I never liked manila in the first place.
Sloppy.
Titanium uses only ~3Mb of RAM and the ease of access to base apps > manila.
It's relatively easy to skin the basic components. Some ppl have begun doing it.
Just decompile a WM6.5 theme (it's basically a CAB), study the install xml and you'll know all there is to know to get you started.

seemingly fake...
first of all...everyone who offers cooked roms did a great job.
but the last months i noticed there are only WM6.5 roms with titanium.
for myself, i made the experience that 6.5 "with" titanium isnt realy made for our little devices. besides that it doesnt really give the comfort like manila does.
sure...at the beginning it seems smooth, but then after u start to work with it more often u notice the lack of "power"
so, is it possibe to try WM 6.5 with M2D insteat of titanium?
or if it doesnt work because of ram...why not just go back to the latest WM6.1 and make it stable and comfortable. after testing several wm 6.5 roms with tianium i went back to joshs V15 m2d, its just faster and easier to use.
just my thoughts, maybe others have the same.
but anyhow...keep on cookin'!^^
I have played with 6.5 a little, and I kinda feel the same. Except, I like a very lite today screen (lite on memory) and the standard 6.1 today plugins have suited me just fine, with the addition of pocket digital clock.
I guess we will have to see what the future brings, maybe titanium (chome) will improve. I'll probably be sticking with 6.1.
And, to me the latest build number (at least for 6.1) doesn't mean a whole lot. So many things can be changed in the kitchen that the build number becomes irrelevant.
ya, it doesnt have to be always the latest one.
but i guess it is just the hype for 6.5 an its titanium
it looks fresh and new, everbody wants to test and use it. and here the desire for the latest stuff comes in. a lot of people forget about the comfort they had with their previous roms (speed and usablitly).
we always have to keep in mind...6.5/titanium is made for another generation of devices...our hermes cant keep up with them anymore and it doesnt make sense to have a pseudo diamond2 which cant be used for daily tasks.
I have cooked a 6.5 ROM with manilla instead and had wayyyyyyyyyyy less memory then when using titanium. I like manilla better but the scrolling with 6.5 is something I just can't live without anymore.
I guess it's 6.5 all the way!
Hi,
I agree with MrDSL that things like scrolling in WM 6.5 is something even I cant live without... And I am on wm 6.5 and there are very good ROMs for hermes dished out by our chefs.. and in my personal experience are stable as any of 6, 6.1 ROMs.. I use them every day for my professional use..
and on the proactive note since the world is going forward.. I guess we should adapt WM 6.5 rather than taking a step back to 6.1; in any case if I would ever go back I'd do so to WM 6 than 6.1 since the later is more stable...
Titanium takes really low RAM... not comparable to Manila - even my small HS++ theme takes more!
For now the best ROM is 6.1 with one of the latest builds (21051/21048) - they're hell fast and rock solid. In the meantime I'm working on the WM6.5 stripped of the honeycomb and Titanium - and it seems really fast and stable! Soon I will release it, too for you, guys

sounds cool!
@ manila issue
ok...it might use more RAM than titanium but its way more usable than titanium.
you have quicker access to main features. and i think that is what one wants...easy to use and comfortable.
of course its just a matter of taste but why should i "upgrade" to something newer which isnt that comfortable and with less speed than my previous version?
@scrolling issue
some guy at pdaviet managed to include a working touchflo into his hermes roms (6.1), without FTouch. i think it was dvha's rom.
M2D it's not for Hermes. I'm sure.
Titanium works fine in WM6.5 if you use only the plugins you need. I don't use titanium because I can't (or I don't know how to do) configure Weather for Spain cities and quick shortcuts to my favorite applications. Until I resolve that issues I use and recomend the old HTC Home.
M2D.....never again....
Titanium....yes...in one or two months.
Hey there,
right now I am thinking about getting a new device and there are some questions that keep me awake at night.
1. Are there any news or rumors about the following model of the Touch Pro 2 ?
1.1 When do you expect the follower model of the TP2?
2. As far as I know from going through the respective threads, there is no possibility yet to get BlackBerry Messenger working on the TP2. Is that just a matter of (a bit of) time, or does this require some hardware/server/technical changes from BlackBerry?
Since in (most) German mobile phone stores the devices on display are not working (you can't switch em on), I wanted to ask about the performance of the TP 2.
3. Is the (outdated?) 528 Mhz processor of the TP2 capable of running smooth 3D user interface operations (I think it's called Manila) on the org. WM6.5 ROM?
3.1 While the TP2 comes with the standard WM6.1 ROM, would you recommend to switch to the org. WM6.5 ROM or are there any cooked ROMs which are not too much about customizing, but optimizing performance or overclocking?
4. I couldnt find anything about that on the HTC website, but does the org. WM6.5 ROM include apps like Facebook, Twitter, etc.?
4.1 Does the org. WM6.5 ROM for the Touch Pro 2 include HTC Sense, or more like: does it have the same user interface and functions as the Touch HD2 ROM? And if not, is there any cooked ROM for the TP2 that has all (or some of) those functions and is it working properly/smoothly? (just asking because the HD2 runs on a twice-as-fast 1 Ghz processor).
5. If you have time and feel like answering this: Are there any Apps for the TP2 that make or life easier, increase the performance, simplify the handling, etc.?
I would really appreciate some help on these questions.
Thanks a lot in advance for your answers.
an answer to only some of those questions would be helpful already
1. Here's a page with the supposed HTC roadmap for devices of 2010. Keep in mind these are leaked files; the phones might not be released, or there might be phones that are not on the list that could launch this year.
The last phone mentioned is the HTC Tera. This seems to be a more powerful (600Mhz CPU), yet downgraded TP2 (check out some of the mentioned specs, and look at the picture of the more inferior keyboard). IMO, I don't think it's worth waiting for this!
3. I don't have, nor have I ever tried, the official HTC-released WM6.5 ROM. I'm using a beta-ROM of WM6.5.5, which has the Start button at the bottom left of the screen. The processor is "outdated," especially since it was present on the original HTC TP1 (Raphael).
I have tried the stock-carrier-ROM with WM6.5 and Manila 2.1 for T-Mobile USA (HTC's ROM is also WM6.5 with Manila 2.1) and the Manila UI (the screens with the slider/tabs at the bottom of the screen) was fast.
3.1 Some people prefer not to switch to WM6.5 as it uses more program memory to process all of the graphical changes.
If you look for ark666's Rhodium_AF ROMs in the ROMs section, you might find they look very "stock-ish" but run efficiently.
4. I believe there is Facebook integration in the ROM. Otherwise, you could go into the new WM Marketplace on the TP2 and download the Facebook App for free. Likewise (I think) for Twitter.
4.1 The HTC ROM comes with Manila (aka Sense) 2.1. Sense 2.1 looks something like this (of course, there will be some visual differences, as this is customized).
Sense2.5 is currently official to run only on the HTC HD2. XDA-Developer ROM chefs, however, have ported this to many other HTC devices. Sense 2.5 looks like this. These are usually a little laggier, but not too much. I've loved these "'Leo' ROMs for Rhodium" for 4 months now.
5. There are many apps out there! You would definitely want to have Advanced Configuration Tool as it contains many tweaks.
Here's where you can get apps: 1800PocketPC, WM6software, freewarepocketpc, the WM Marketplace on the WM6.5 (though there's a download to get it on WM6.1) update, XDA-Developers (via searching). You will notice many apps can be found in any -- if not all -- of the links. There are many people who upload the same software on different websites.
Thanks heaps sumflipnol!
1. I totally agree, the HTC Tera (as of todays available information) doesnt seem to be worth waitnig for.
3. & 3.1. You said ark666's Rhodium_AF Roms are WM6.1 and run efficiently. So I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552821 As far as I understand, he is offering 2 versions: 21889 as WM6.1 and 23518 which is the WM6.5 version with Manila 2.5 (looks like that in the youtube video he posted). Are both version working smoothly/efficiently?
4. & 4.1. I took a look at the Energy "Leo" ROM and it looked very nice. What I really like about Manila 2.5 is the bigger buttons which makes it easier to navigate with fingers. But what are the differences to ark666's 23518 ROM?
What I would appreciate is a smoothly running ROM with Manila 2.5 (the bigger buttons). So I dont know which would be the better choice. ark666's 23518 ROM or Energy "Leo"'s?
5. Thanks a lot for that. I saw a bunch of useful Apps on those sites. However there are 2 Apps I would really like to have:
A. WMWifiRouter (which turns you phone into a regular Router so you can connect your laptop via wireless and have mobile internet), but the website (http://www.wmwifirouter.com) doesn't say whether it's working for WM6.1/6.5 or not.
B. An App which I dont know the name of, but I know it is available for Iphone. With this App you can let your phone record a few seconds of a song (maybe while driving and listening to the radio) and then it searches online for the Artist and Title of the song.
If anyone knows anything regarding question 2 (BlackBerry Messenger), it would be much appreciated, since most of my contacts have BlackBerrys.

I'm afraid I can't help you with the BB questions, but I've got some other stuff that might be useful...
WMWifiRouter should work for you in 6.1/6.5. They have a time-limited trial version so you can give it a test drive first, I've attached the cab below. However, there's also a free solution available here on xda that may be adequate for you, it's called HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing, details on THIS THREAD. Try 'em both out and see what you prefer...the free one works just fine for me!
The music app you're thinking of is probably Shazam, and it's available in the windows marketplace. There's also at least one other app that claims to do the same thing, but I think Shazam is the more mature and widespread app.

3. & 3.1. Sorry! I meant ark666's ROMs are all WM6.5, but they look close to a stock ROM, and run as efficiently as WM6.1 (so I've been told)!
Build 21889 is WM6.5, which [still] has the Start button at the top-left corner.
Builds with 23xxx, 24xxx, 28xxx are WM6.5.X (X being either 3 or 5). These have the Start button at the bottom-left of the screen, as you can see in the Sense2.1 link I had in my previous post.
Based on that info ^^^ ark666's ROM, WM6.5 with Sense 2.5 is here. While his WM6.5.5 with Sense 2.5 is here. I have yet to try these newly released ROMs, so I cannot comment on them.
4 & 4.1. You can't really notice differences in WM builds, especially since the chefs usually enhance it more. The EnergyROMs are highly customized and have many apps and tweaks already built-in whereas Rhodium_AF ROMs, like I said, are close to stock. The flashing process is very easy and shouldn't take that long, so you should try these ROMs.
However, now that you're asking about the EnergyROMs, you should also check out agent_47's ValkyrieROMs. These are sort of "in the middle" of the EnergyROMs and Rhodium_AF ROMs.
5b. Shazam is okay, but I really use/prefer Midomi (attached).
Hey,...
...sorry to push this thread to the top.
Just a quick question: I just got my new TP2 and saw, that on the back cover, there is no protection glass over the camera. It is just a whole. Is that normal?
I'm just wondering, because thats the first time is see this on a HTC device. I mean it's kinda unconvenient, since dust can get underneath the back cover easily.
**push**
Yes, that's normal.
I really need a help for obtaining an excellent WM6.5.x ROM + <<sense 2.5>>
I've searched all WM6.5.x ROMs on XDA but i don't know which of them can be better for 'HTC TOUCH DAIMOND'
In fact ,i want "WM6.5.X CLEAN ROM+SENSE 2.5 ,STABLE,FAST AND WITH SETTING ITEM IN START MENU "
IF IT IS OFFICIAL ,IT WILL BE BETTER CERTAINLY
THEREFORE,Please Help Me For Finding best ROM ,tanX
simple, not exist
LOL
Don't waste your time with 6.5 it is always going to be slow
Now I can tell you what a good all rounder rom is an that is the MEMO one.
I would say this as I'm helping with it but IMHO it's a keeper.
MEMO Rom
Yes, i too say that 6.5 is not for Diamond. So why u try that?
With all the options the MEMO ROM is the best one (Try it and feel it)
Regards
I'm using the latest energy rom + cookie home tab, and is fast, stable and has good graphics..there is only one problem the free ram is a bit (18-20 mb)
energy rom
Sure, energy roms, especially the latest, are bright, fast, BUT NOT LIGHT due, perhaps in a certain way to the huge amount of apps included. Things that most people does not use. I prefer using wm 6.5.5 rahter than 6.1, but today there is no light rom WITH SENSE (2.1 OR 2.5) AND WM 6.5.5. You can find a good titanium rom wm 6.5.5 (ralpfudsion ralGT1J) with plenty of free ram and stable
Hi,
First you need to understand the limitation of your equipment and specially for the ram. On my side I have tried several rom and I have normally a preference for rom 6.5.x due to my HD2. So I found a good compromised between 6.1 and 6.5.x it is a 6.5 rom (build 21907) back to basic. There is enough ram left and I can customized as I want. The other solution as stated above is to use a titanium version of 6.5.x or 6.5. I also recomand Ormet rom the 8.32 one.
Hope it will help you
I would suggest you to try out the Gen Y WWE ROM. Its a 6.1 with Sense 2.1 ROM. Pretty stable. It has a share of its own issues, but you may wanna try it out yourself. Its got a very good integration of Sense into it with a Start Menu that the Topaz (Diamond 2) shipped with.

Here you go. Try it. Its got some good features. If you are starting out new, I suggest take small steps. Rather than taking a leap into 6.5 or 6.5.x give this one a try.
What's your idea ?
tanX of all for your nice suggestions nonetheless it's better that i use WM6.1 for HTC touch diamond instead of WM6.5.X
I INSTALLED DONSALARI ROM(WM6.5) ,IT WAS NOT BAD... , however it has some features that i want
roughly OK : WM6.5.X+SENSE 2.5

I personally had issues with that rom. Diamond does not truly perform too well with it. Had it for a few days then removed it. For instance my video stuttered horribly with it and my album never even began playing H.264 videos. I could only use WMP.
I personally think you should fall back on a tweaked 6.1 ROM with Sense 2.1 or Sense 2.5. Maybe you could search for Manila cab and install it.
try the Don Salari rom dude. i think it's the best official rom n' it's very light (clean basic). good luck!
you might want to try out Benko's 6.5.3 ROMs for Diamond.

P.S. Even that has issues though.
