I've just started breaking open some apks and playing around with the idea of changing some elements I don't like but I don't know if it'll ever be much more than that right now. It's mainly the Advanced Launcher I've been poking around in and blueifying (yes it's a word, shush!) I used the Eclair theme that's around here but anyway less chat, more pics... all three of them >_> Gotta start somewhere, right?
First thing I changed - the app drawer handle

Deleting icons now becomes a game...
I tend to lose interest quite fast in doing things but this is kinda therapeutic. If someone out there could tell me how to go about testing themes on an Android VM it would speed things up a lot considering I only have one G1 and it makes it painfully slow to test things. I'm gonna go hunt around for the information anyway but if anyone wants to point me in the right direction I won't complain
A quick way to test things now would be to use the new MetaMorph. You can test most things without flashing.
why would you flash the whole thing? up to now, you've only changed Launcher (I'm ignoring all the other icons you changed on purpose), so all you'd have to do is, after you modified your pngs (and put them back in the apk) just "adb push Launcher.apk /system/app", it will automatically overwrite the old launcher (killing the process first) and then load up the new one with the changes (don't re-sign it, don't listen to people, makes things worse)

I haven't been flashing the whole thing, only the themed files such as the launcher. I did try using "adb push" but for some files I tried it on earlier it lead to big problems with gapps FC and loss of all wireless service. Thanks for the heads up on MetaMorph. I found how to run different ROMs in an emulator but I'd have to throw on a Linux install for that so MetaMorph will help avoid that.

Hello! I need help with changing the clock on my HTC Touch Diamond (VERIZON).
Okay, guys... I am SO frustrated I could absolutely SCREAM.
I've had the phone for a week, and I've spent hours, literally, trying to change the CLOCK appearance. It is currently ANALOG and has an atrocious purple background that I HATE.
Here's the main screen, so you can see what I mean:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I have installed some themes successfully, and everything changes but the clock! I can't get rid of that purple background, and can't change the style from Analog to FLIP, which is what I really want.
I have tried to install several clocks from the clock thread on this site, and followed the instructions to the letter - soft reset the phone and..... NOTHING. Still the same awful analog clock with the purple background.
I have also downloaded TF3D Config, hoping a new Theme will override the clock, but can't get any themes to appear in the drop down menu no matter what Path I choose (another massive source of frustration).
Sorry for the rant, but seriously, I'm about to throw this phone out the window. Part of the fun of having a phone like this is the customization features, and if I can't figure out how customize it, why bother?
I really hope someone can help with some detailed, step by step instructions or send me to a thread that has the answers. Believe me, I've literally spent hours searching this site and the rest of the web and can't find a specific answer. Maybe it's because Verizon's version hasn't been out for very long?
I'm definitely a newbie at this stuff, but I can read/follow instructions - so please, please help!!! (That's right - I'm begging! LOL...)
Sorry for the long post! Thanks so much for reading this and I hope to get some replies soon.
miabelle98
Did you ever get an answer for this, just got the touch diamond today and this is driving me nuts as well.
let me know
thanks
You have to install nissedilligaf's sprint2flipclock (search the forum) and don't forget to soft reset. That nasty ugly purple background will be removed after soft reset, then you can install any clock you want. Find any flip clock or analog and just copy it to your windows folder on your device. Don't forget to thank nisse for his work.
I have been running Launcher Pro Plus and use Desktop Visualizer to set Widgets with Custom Icons. If by any chance my EVO reboots or I turn it off, I loose all my widgets that were set on my homescreens. Wherever I had a widget set in will now say "Problem Loading Widget". This is a real pain in the A$$ after I put in plenty of time setting up my homescreens only to find them all jacked up after a reboot.
And Fede if you are on the site, please answer the questions and fix these issues on Launcher Pro's forums. Thanks.

looks like it having troubles reading the location of the widgets on your sdcard
Do you use apps2sd, native froyo or otherwise?
If you're putting either Launcher Pro or any of the widgets/apps from your homes creen on ur sdcard, then that would certainly cause the type of problems you're having.
Not using app2sd, I just use titanium pro to back up all my apps then use the built in batch to move to internal memory. I do keep all apps that I use as widgets on internal memory. Should I just clean slate everything and start from scratch? This is just a pain in the a$$ every time I shut down or reboot.
Anyone know how to get in touch with Fede the developer of Launcher Pro program?
Sent from my EVO 4Gees
BUMP, anyone else out there?
Well that's weird then. I guess try to start over fresh. Maybe clear the Launcher pro data/Defaults, or uninstall and reinstall I guess. That's pretty annoying.
I have never tried to contact the developer, but heard he's pretty responsive.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
I guess he has his own forum for bug reports and such.

Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!
Yeah I am about to post up over there too. I was just trying to get a feel from users here. Thanks again.
I'm having the same issue - not with all of my apps, just some of them. Also, my custom bar at the bottom changed back to the stock launcher pro bar, and I'm getting force closes all the time w/ google and other apps. I'm thinking a fresh start might be in order for me too. I've screwed something up, and can't figure out what it was. It's fun to start over anyway
Hey ya'll: a while back I was trying to get this acer liquid metal launcher working on the Evo3d.
Honestly, I didn't get very far, but what I was able to do was to pull this sweet, interactive live "raindrop" live wallpaper out, and it was awesome, but it was sized completely wrong for the 3d.
That stock live wallpaper is included in the following zip file.
http://db.tt/7uo30Kk3
Another thing that came out of the whole effort was that I sent a copy to xda user jschmier, and asked for his help in the resizing, because,well, that's his forte.
Long story longer, he worked a long time working on the resizing angle, and though he wasn't able to do it, he DID re-theme a couple of them in kind of a blood-and gore motif, and they look great. The true size of these were 480X800.. (sound familiar?)
Anyway, there's the zip^^: extract it, and the LWP's are in subfolders:
1. The stock "raindrops one"
(which works perfectly.)
2. Jschmiers "Halloween" ones
(which work perfectly.)
3&4. Some wip apks based on stock and Halloween that I tried to throw together
(that mostly need a .png resized, they dont all scale right.. The file that is switched out in each one is a png called "back512" in the assets folder within the apk., if anyone wants to give it a go.)
Anyway, enjoy the ones that work, as I just remembered I had these laying around and now own this awesome phone with a 480x800 reso...( And feel free to lend a hand on resizing any of my pitiful attempts.)
ALSO: You can ONLY install these 1 at a time. If you want to see what another one looks like, you MUST uninstall the previous one, or the new one WILL NOT install (they all share common names..)
*Like I said, WIP.
(But Halloween is over a month away).
(Also, I want the 'Mike Tyson sweating' one the most. )
I'll post some screenies in a minute. Thanks.

Hello people, I'll start off by saying good morning to you all and hope your not in New England like I am where all the damn snow just **** on us all. With that aside here I go's....
A co-worker on 3rd shift an I were talking about themes for android when I came into work this morning. The conversation got long so I'll sum up what made me post this question. I searched the forums and treads and did not see anything of this nature. Is it possible for someone to make a rotary style dialer to replace the stock dialer that everybody themes? Something that looks like the images below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

I understand that this is a HUGE request and I am in no means expecting anyone to pull this off. I'm not thinking down on any of you, I'm just assuming that this takes mega programming skills to build android apps / apks. If this is doable I think it'd be a hit. I know that there are android apps like this on the market but it should be part of someones ROM with options to use stock dialer or rotary dialer.
There's a few rotary dialer on the android market. Check there.

Yes i understand that. If you read my whole post you would see i already mentioned that. I'm looking for one to be made to replace the stock dialer.apk and possibly integrated into a ROM....
find one of the rotary dialer replacements. then freeze the stock dialer, and push the new dialer app into system/app. then run the dialer and set as default.
there you go
Hmm, every time i use Titanium pro, and root explorer, i freeze what i think is the system dialer apk in juggernaut 5.0, and immediately am bombarded with com.process.android.phone yadda yadda has stopped working. So i should restart and everything will be kosher? I am wanting to change the stock dialer apk to something off the market, which i already converted to a system apk, and switched it to the /system/app folder via root explorer. However in titanium, i see a few different things that say PHONE or DIALER in them. I freeze them restart my phone, same issue, even switched in the new apk and renamed it Phone.apk in the system and moved the original to another folder for back up purposes. Here is where i run into a snag, everytime i get it to get anywhere near working how i think it should, com.android.phone stops working, and i get a Not registered on network pop up, and no signal in the signal bars. Any ideas?
because i changed the resolution a tad using a root app and the stock dialer only fills like the middle left of the screen and looks trashy, everything else, however, looks amazing. REALLY makes the screen look huge now.
A few days ago, I started modifying my stock launcher on my Galaxy Tab3 (GT-P5200). I've focused on the dock.
Till now I've managed to modify the launcher so far, that I can store up to 13 icons on the dock.
I also managed to remove the text from the icons. This is how my screen looks at the moment.

}
Now I want to continue modifying the dock by making it scrollable (like the homescreen or appdrawer).
And before anyone suggests me exactly, what I do not want, I'll explain briefly what is important for me.
I don't want to use a different launcher (like Nova / AWD / Apex / or something like that).
I also do not want to use any other app, which modifies my launcher.
I simply want to modify my stock launcher (TouchWiz) by modifying the code itself
I would appreciate it if anyone could help me or at least could explain to me
where the scrolling of the homescreens is defined in the code.
.
Wonder how you get 13 icons in the dock? Wish I had that option.

Well, ... I just modified SecLauncher3.apk. But I recognized that these 13 apps won't survive a reboot.
When I reboot my device, the system/launcher (or whatever it is) resets the dock, so that only 10 apps
will be shown after reboot. I still have the possibility to put up to 13 apps on the dock, but after reboot,
only 10 apps will be shown.

Oh, yeah...thanks! I had never concidered (with my limited knowledge) that the launcher is also just an apk running on android. big ah-ha moment for me there. Thanks for the eye opener.
