There is an old PPC feature that seems to be missing from this phone (TP2 Sprint) and that is the option to wake the phone (turn on from stand by) by "Pressing Any Key".
This used to be a feature under settings, but not there on this phone. I think it would go perfect with S2U2. Can anyone tell me if there is a reg entry I can do, cab I can download or _____? to make this happen on the TP2?
Thanks

I second this request. In addition I would like to be able to suspend the device (put the device to sleep) when I hit the end call key ONLY when I am on the home screen. My Treo 750 did this and i liked that b/c I do not like always going to the top of the device to hit the power button. Thanks in advance for anybody that can help.
Both seems like good suggestions & now that i think about it....i want them too!
Once again, thank you too anyone who can sort them in advance!
Power Button To Resume Alternative
I agree, how can we set our phones to resume from standway by pressing screen / other buttons?
Thanks,
Michael
If you want to wake up TP2 by any hardware keys, please try: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD "KeyLock" = 0 (default is 1) then Reset..

Perfect! Thanks. That did it.
And it works perfect with S2U2 so no accidents.
OK I am going to 2nd the the "end to suspend request" too. Personally I would prefer the press and hold of the red end key to have an option to power down (suspend). Anyone got an answer for that? That would really get us ex-treo users in the goove

Additionally, is there any way to make the device resume by only pressing the end call key and not just any of them.

Hi guys,
My tp2 used to wake up on any hardware key , but after the upgrade to WM6.5 available on HTC we site , it stopped and now it just wakes up using the power button.
I have tried with no success:
- Keylock changes in the registry
- AE Button Plus
- Keylock.exe
- CS Dev control
I know that this is not big deal for some, but for me is kinda annoying as i was used to wake it up using the hardware keys.
Anyway, thanks for your time and i would appreciate very much if anyone has any suggestion on this matter
Thanks

Thanks for the tip. It works like a charm on my Tilt2.
Hi All
Good news. For those who upgraded their TP2 to WM 6.5 and now are having problems to wake up the device with any other key apart from the power button, even using the tips from the previous messages in this post, here is how i solved this problem today.
I used the application "Rhoduim Keyboard Controller" from the post :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
attention for the red line :
This is for Rhodium only! Do not try to install this on other devices!
Also a good list of applications for TP2 can be found at this post, and it was there were i found the "Rhoduim Keyboard Controller"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
I hope this will be helpful for someone.
does anyone know if it would be possible to wake the device from a quick double tap?

I am a noob, and was wondering where do I go to change this registry. plus can i change it without have a registry editor of any sort?
Interestingly, installing Rhoduim Keyboard Controller allows keylock.exe (attached) to work. Rhoduim Keyboard Controller looks like an excellent app but a little complicated for what I want to achieve. I just want my "do not lock buttons" option back, and that's what I've got.
I'm running a UK TP2 with WM6.5.
If anyone is intersted, I use my TP2 with Memory Map (a topographical mapping app) in an otterbox. The problem is, without being able to turn on the TP2 from the front buttons you have to open the box to get to the power button - defeating the object of having it in a protective box!
Hope this is of some use to someone.

I've searched for this also. The reg edit in the pervious post works like a charm, but I would like to take it a step further but waking up my phone with a screen tap or dbl tap.

Along the bottom of the phone there's a home button and an endcall which, within programmes, seem to do the same thing - take you back to the today screen. Or, in my case the 6.5 CHome thingy. And the back button in most apps takes you to the home screen too - so that's three buttons largely doing the same thing most of the time.
The new phones with 6.5 preinstalled will have a windows-flag start menu button, I assume this will open up the new hexagony start menu.
Is there a way of remapping the home button so it launches the start menu instead?
That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking for the last days. Pressing Home-key should naturally bring up the start-menu.
Nice idea, even because reaching the top left corner with your right thumb(maybe for left handed it's easier ) while holding the HD with the right hand is a little bit tricky
I'd like something small to do this but I have a feeling most people will return with the suggestion "use aebplus to remap"
I have the same feeling wiggz, There must be a registry key or something that can be changed and put into cab format? Anyone got any ideas?

so as the home button is coded into manila it mean's one has to play with the manila files and remap to start menu all that would mean is to change some scripts!!
bottomline Home button in theory can be mapped to the start menu!! so it's plausible!!!
i'm going to watch this thread as well --- i've been looking for this since I got hold of my HD. I've already remapped the "back" button to S2U2 via AEB since you are correct, essentially the home, back, and end buttons all work very similarly.
Hoping that someone posts a solution to this!
i have the solution...install this program and you can change all the hard keys to do almost any function...i have mine set up to do the exact same thing that you want it to do!!
cheers!!

Thanks, but could give more informations to remap keys, please ? The list is empty when i launch the application ...
Same here. I was so happy when I found this thread..
When I tried installing that, it did not work... Maybe it was my ROM.
There are REG keys that remap home in certain cituations, i.e. manilla but I have yet to find a way to get the reg key to do anything else.
The new keypad.dll maps it to a normal vk_lwin, so you can remap it as you like.
Unfortunately I have not yet seen it an any ROM.

It is for Diamond and the author says here post 10 "For the touch HD, maybe you should download HTCAPI.DLL somewhere, put it in /Windows and try again". Haven't read the whole thread though so not sure if this is what the problem is.
i know its a little confusing to get it started...so heres what you do...install cab, go to program files\dredsensor and click on dredsensor.exe and a config.ini will appear...now close out whatever app you are using to view files...and open dredsensor...now you will see default under name...tap default and then click menu, then edit...change type to launcher...then go to click and tap the gray box next to the home key...go to events and chose Misc:Start, hit select, hit ok to comfirm, change whatever others you want to...then hit save, then hit ok to confirm...then hit exit...then you should be good to go...hope this helps!!

hi!
I've installed PSShutXP and it works like a charm!
I was wondering how I can change the Power Button settings to assign PSShutXP to Power Button!
Registry? Tweak?
Thanks
I don't know if this would work on the TP2, but for the kaiser, you just go to psshutxp's folder (in program files if it's installed to your device) and copy the .exe, then go to the windows folder and make a shortcut and name it short_power or long_power depending on if you want it for just a short press or a long, delayed press. let me know if this works, I'd like to be able to still do this when I get my TP2
now working!

You can find an updated PSshutXP cab file that replaces the LongPowerButton press here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=475762
Hi, i just looked at the homepage of psshutxp, however i fail to see what additional benefits i get from this program? Anything that this program does seems to be already built into the preinstalled software. Am i missing something here?

Someone few months ago posted the same query and got a reply to do a registry entry edit. It worked great. Now I have upgraded the ROM and cannot find that thread or any solution.
I know it was a registry edit that had to be done in order for other hardware keys to also be enabled to bring the TP2 out of stand by instead of just pushing the power button.
anyone knows which registry needs to edited?
Thanks

If you want to wake up TP2 by any hardware keys, please try:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\OEM\KEYBD
"KeyLock" = 0 (default is 1) then Reset..
or you can try this app that seems to work on all C phones: http://www.fuzemobility.com/wake-up-your-fuze-without-the-power-key/
Here's the file from the other post.. Appears to be just a copy from the Tilt, and just modifies the registry as mentioned above.
I was actually going to suggest running this program, but looks like it wasn't included in the Fuze onward I guess!

AT&T, in their typical way, pre-loaded the Tilt2 with tons of garbage bloatware. Free RAM is patheticly low, as is the roughly 100MB of storage space....
Is it possible to go about deleting stuff thats pre-installed, or is that going to require flashing a custom ROM?
Are there any ROM's available yet which keep all the critical components but remove all the garbage stuff so a user can choose to reinstall only what he wants via cab?
I sympathize with you on that. I couldn't take not being able to have more than 2 programs open without the task manager killing them. I ended up flashing to the latest NRG rom. The 2 tab opera limit was insane too.
I must say that the frustrations with doing this now include some keyboard functionality lost and the loss of the good ATT software. For instance, I can't download the ATT WiFi Hotspot software because I lost my ATT Media Mall.
Are you by chance able to post your opera proxy settings. I can try and grab the cab once I have these settings and share it with the forum.
Easiest way is to find opera.config or opera.ini and see if the settings are in there and copy to the forum. Also found if you type in opera:config in your address bar and look under proxy.
Got these settings from a FUZE forum post:
[Proxy]
Use Proxy On Local Names Check=1
HTTP Server=wireless.cingular.com
HTTPS server=wireless.cingular.com
Use HTTP=1
Use HTTPS=1
Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy=1
Seems to have done the trick. I'll upload the ATT Wifi Cab tonight when I'm home.
Yea, I've also gone to the NRG ROM.... SO MUCH faster and so much more free RAM & ROM its insane.
its a real shame ATT loads so much junk on the phone. I know all carriers love to do that, but it just seems like the Tilt2 is particularly polluted with crapware.
Anyhow, now I'm happy...
I sure miss AT&T
Just got my TP2 a few days ago and loaded the NRG Photon rom yesterday... Soo much faster than the AT&T rom... I did forget about the AT&T Wifi software though... There anyway to get that software back? Anyone have the cabs? Just fyi, there's an AT&T Keyboard fix cab out there now, just doesn't map the OK button...

I have installed it, but haven't actually tried it out yet at a hotspot.
For you folks that installed the NRG rom: Did you find a keyboard .cab for the Tilt2 that is 100%?
The existing keyboard cab fixes 98% of the issue.
The two buttons that dont map correctly are
1) OK button on the keyboard
2) PTT buton (below the volume on the side)
Both can be fixed by using Keyboard Config controller (do a search). I've been able to remap the PPT button, just waiting on someone to explain what to map the OK button to.
So ya, its a 2-step process but it can be 100% correctly functioning with the NRG or any other custom rom
I will be getting Tilt 2 & selling in Dec 1st week

I remember reading somewhere else that people were mapping the OK button to some command like "Go Back" which some felt was the closest approximation to the OK button. As for the PTT button, a lot of people (including myself on the stock ROM) have mapped to the camera.

I mapped my PTT to screen rotate.
I'm finding that even with the latest cab, you still have to remap your bottom row function shortcuts. However, the biggest bother is that on the unlock screen and certain other applications, the top row is still read as the default TP2 number row. Perhaps we're still missing some settings.

OK, either I'm blind or I did something, 'cause now the option is there.
i found a solution for the "ok" key..
you map the "ok" key first for anything on the Keyboard control/config program, update config, then uncheck the box and update again...
THEN, download AEB button Plus and install that, press add new key, press the ok key, and map that to "ok/close"... soft reset, and you're good to go, just dont mess with "ok" button on keyboard control program and you're good to go...
i also mapped long press on the "ok" key to open notes,

Goodnight people ...
I have a question for you:
Because I hate the touchscreen keyboard, I wanted to know if there was a way to prevent it being opened automatically!
Let me explain .. when I write a new text message, a new mail, when I use opera but when I select any text box, it automatically opens the touchscreen keyboard!
can prevent this thing from happening?
I only use the HW keyboard ... and would prevent the automatic opening of the touchscreen keyboard!
I dug into the registry, more precisely here:
[HKLM \ Software \ Tegic \ eT9]
and all subfolders below ... I could not find anything about it!
How can I do?
Thanx!!!
Try this:
Code:
[I]HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\TurnOffAutoDeploy[/I] = 1
[I]HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange[/I] = 0
[I]HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Disable Auto SIP[/I] =1 (Note the space in "Internet Explorer"; there's a different directory without the space)
I found these online, so I don't know if they'll work.
Actually, I think only the second tweak ('AllowChange') is necessary. I remember trying it before. You have to know, however, that it will (should) completely disable the virtual keyboard; you can only launch the SIP by changing the value back to '1'.
yeah i used to turn it off with a tweak program. turning off auto works most places but not in opera. however later builds of opera wont show the onscreen keyboard if the physical is kicked out.
thanks for explanation ... really helpful, but my intention was not to completely disable the keypad, but only prevent it opened automatically!
I don't like the on-screen keyboard popping up all the time either. So I took an interest in this thread. I found that of the suggested registry changes mentioned above, the oly one I needed to impliment was this one:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\TurnOffAutoDeploy = 1
This seems to keep the on-screen keyboard from popping up on its own, but still allows me to access the keyboard when I need it.
Hopes this is helpful...

It's strange, however, that I have that same exact reg tweak, but my virtual keyboard still pops up on its own (using the ROM in my sig).

I tried one of the tweaks I listed a few months ago. I think the "AllowChange" tweak disables the launch (auto and manual) of the virtual keyboard.
I remember helping someone on an EnergyROM thread about this same topic. He wanted to completely disable the virtual keyboard, so he was happy with the tweak.

With this tweak [HKCU\ControlPanel\Sip\AllowChange = 0]!!! the problem is solved, because the touch pad is completly powered off!!!
The only one problem, is the impossibility of opening the touch pad when I want without remod this register key and make a SR!!!

You could just add a DWORD for the "TurnOffAutoDeploy" key. That should suffice.
You're welcome for the tweak, but I understand the problem of having to remod the registry and soft reset when you need it. Maybe you could push for an app that can "switch" the registry key for you without a soft reset?

You're right... I never thought to create the DWORD!
I try now... and then I post the result!
PS: I can create an app that modifies the registry to enable and disable the touchpad, but I think it is impossible to avoid the SR, because without it, the touchpad still does not work even after I edit the registry, because this type of change requires necessarily an SR to become effective.
I've tried to add manually the DWORD "TurnOffAutoDeploy=1", but the problem isn't solved!!!
PS: I can create 2 different CAB... 1 for "Powering ON" and 1 for "Powering Off" the Touchpad... because i'm not a programmer, and i haven't the necessary competence to create an application in c++!
The only one problem, is that i don't know how to avoid the SR necessary to make active the change!
If I find a way to solve the SR problem, i have solved my touchpad problem!

Update: After using my phone this weekend with the above tweek applied, I found that the KB still pops up occasionally, but less often than before. For me this is acceptable. You mileage may vary.

Can you post here the list of the various DWORD that you have in SIP folder of your registry?
I think that you have other settings that I haven't....!

Like I said in post6, I have that DWORD in my registry, but it does still pop up. As a matter of fact, the only time it doesn't pop up is when I try to send an SMS!
Mobilnaut SYM

Because I hate the touchscreen keyboard, I wanted to know if there was a way to prevent it being opened automatically!
Let me explain .. when I write a new text message, a new mail, when I use opera but when I select any text box, it automatically opens the touchscreen keyboard!
can prevent this thing from happening?
I only use the HW keyboard ... and would prevent the automatic opening of the touchscreen keyboard!

You can try Mobilnaut SYM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459253).
When Mobilnaut SYM is activated, the SIP does not pop up when the keyboard is open.
for my it work with the "Deploy" reg kack. the "allow" one killed it all toghether. I't wouldn't apear, even if i click it.
I have a diferente problem now. I'm Portuguese, I need special char "ç" a lot. my harware keyboard doesn't have that. so I have to pop up the SIP every time just for that one.
Can someaone develop a small app i can link to a hardware button, that all it does is type "ç"?
Thank you!

There is a registry edit that worked just fine on my T-Mobile HTC HD2, so you might want to check it out.
