Sprint Touch Pro 2 UNLOCK!! - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

As its mentioned the sprint version is CDMA/GSM so is it possible to unlock the GSM of sprint version to use with other carriers?

There is a wealth of information on this subject in the Rhodium CDMA Portion of this forum.
It is being worked on, but is not finalized yet.

yes, at PPC Geeks they are working on it. I really want to see it work on the Verizon network. I hate carrying two phones around.

I am sorry it doesn't make senc eto say you want your sprint phone to work on verison both are cdma unlocking won't help you!

I want the sprint to work on other carriers because I live in turkey where the phone is not available yet.. and I currently only use gsm so cdma won't bother me too much for now if only the gsm could be unlocked and used untill the cmda is also unlocked.

You say you live in Turkey? Then a Sprint Touch Pro 2 will most definitely work because by default it's already unlocked to international gsm providers.

Aye - the dozens of threads containing this info say as follows:
the sprint 'touch pro 2' ships sim-unlocked however US sim carriers currently blocked
and lots of 'we're working on it'

Thank oyu very much for your replies.
I am happy to hear that it is possible to use in turkey, I found one on ebay and asked seller to be sure that it will work and when receive the answer i will purchase one right away ..

Cdma Diamond Rom

Hey guys. Just wondering some things here, and can't get an answer anywhere. These same questions are posted all over the web, so please lend a helping hand.
So, there is already one CDMA Version of the Diamond released to Telus, and soon to be Verizon and Sprint. Now heres the question. If I were to buy a CDMA Diamond off the web, one that is used on Telus, can it be used for Alltel, Sprint, or Verizon?
If so, would it be possible to make a ROM to go along with these carriers? I see that there is already a Diamond Kitchen available, so what would have to be done to get one of these phones to work on these carriers? Or is it already possible?
Thanks for any help guys.
I think the rom would not help because it is hardware. Not too sure though.
u can unlock it but alot of good that will do since its cmda you have to give sprint/verizon your esn and they will have to allow your phone for use on their network and as far as i know they dont allow unlocked phones even if its the same model as one they carry since the esns have to be sprint esns. if im wrong someone feel free to correct me.
verizon said they will open their network so when that happens yes you can.
the rest no.
and telus has NOT released the diamond as of yet.
telus is launching this little cdma beauty aug 14th. my question is this:WILL THE CURRENT ROMS AVAILABLE WORK ON THIS DEVICE
sprint will let you activate any phone, they just have to load your esn into there system
You can't use a WCDMA Diamond on CDMA networks because of its hardware.
The CDMA version has got a different hardware for make it work on CDMA networks...
I think that actual ROMs for WCDMA Diamond will work on CDMA version... the software part that controls radio hardware is the Radio ROM.

Can I use my T-Mo TP2 on Verizon?

Is there anything I can do to make my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 usable on Verizon's network?
Root it? Unlock it? Anything?
No, the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is exclusively GSM, and Verizon's network utilizes CDMA technology. You would need to buy a Verizon Touch Pro2 from Verizon to use Verizon's network.
LOL.
AT&T, T-Mobile = GSM
Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular = CDMA
You CANNOT use a GSM phone on a CDMA network and vice versa.
AT&T to T-Mobile??
Hello,
I just upgraded to HTC Evo and moved to Sprint couple of days ago. I am trying to sell my Touch Pro2 to my friend who has a T-Mobile.
My TP2 is currently running the EneryROM, so I am wondering what I could do to get this phone run on T-Mobile.
We inserted his SIM-Card but unfortunately the phone asked for a code because the network is blocked.
I think I can download the T-Mobile's official ROM for TP2, would that work by itself?
Any suggestions?
Thank you

nope... wont work.. you cant just install a rom on the phone and have it work on another network... The phones themselves have to be compatible.. like was said up there.. gsm phones run on gsm networks.. cdma on cdma... now that said.. arent the touch pro 2's with verizon and sprint world phones so will run on both gsm and cdma?? Although I'm fairly certain even if it is possible to get it to work on the network you want you definatly wont get 3G....
You're better off just selling your phone to someone ON your network... craigslist or ebay can be your best friend... and he's better off buying one made for his network.
Just my two cents!

First of all, don't try to flash the T-Mobile ROM onto your Sprint Rhodium, since that's a great way to brick your device (the ROM is for a GSM device, flashing that to a CDMA/GSM device will brick it). Sprint allows the use of SIM cards for any carriers except US ones, so what you need to do is Security Unlock your Sprint TP2, then flash this special modified radio that will allow for the use of SIM cards from US carriers. Only then can you use your Sprint TP2 on T-Mobile US.
EDIT: Disregard this entire post, I misread it and this probably doesn't apply to the actual situation. My bad...

AFAIK, the TP2s on Verizon are World Phones, but I really doubt that you could go and use a Verizon TP2 on a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mo. I would assume Verizon would lock the feature to do that, and that the GSM antenna is more then likely an underpowered or unable to really take advantage of GSM networks (3G/HSDPA, Edge, etc). I think they are only set on on Verizons end to do basic voice and basic features.

Apparently no one is READING your post. You want to take an AT&T Tilt2 and run it on T-Mobile. It will work with the following restrictions:
1. Your phone is network locked to AT&T. You have to either call AT&T and get an unlock code, or buy a code off ebay or one of the forums here. That way the phone will work on a different carrier network.
2. Having unlocked your phone, with a T-Mobile SIM card it will work - but only on the slower Edge speed, NOT 3G. AT&T uses a different 3G technology than T-Mobile.
I would suggest selling it as an AT&T locked phone on ebay.

Everyone,
I apologize for the confusion.. I re-read my post and I didn't mention that my Touch Pro 2 is an AT&T phone. (I was an AT&T customer and moved to Sprint). Sorry about that guys..
But thank you everyone especially stevedabi for reading between the lines.. LOL.. He won't buy it but my other co-worker is very interested. Need to sell this thing so I can offset my termination fee from AT&T. haha.

Why not just transfer the entire contract to him WITH the phone.. Then you don't have to pay a cancellation fee... Can they do that here? I know of a few people that did it up in Canada but have never heard of anyone in the states doing it. I'm sure it's got to be possible down here.

[Q] Using the TM GSII on other Networks

Hello guys!
I have a international I9100 and I live in Brazil. I'm looking forward to buying the TM GSII for a girl to use here, since it is cheaper then the I9100 and has a bigger screen.
What I know:
It is technically capable of running here, both the GSM and 3G frequencies.
I can install CM7 (when ready) and forget everything about something locked.
You can unlock the olders USA's Galaxy S.
What I want to know:
Is it locked for T-Mobile?
Can I unlock it using a Samsung ROM?
Can I use a International GSII ROM and only the Kernel from the TM GSII?
I will update this post with the answers to properly share with everybody.
I really appreciate it! Thanks!

Not easily at least...

any known link that i can use to at least try?
Nope. This has been discussed numerous times over the last 2 months the phone has been out. It just isn't possible especially with Sprint, as they are not very open to activating non-Sprint devices on their network. The ESN won't be in their database.
You have a slightly higher chance of getting it onto a Verizon MVNO, but even then that's kinda low.
i have the same question but i am from mexico and here exist a carrier with cdma network, i try a lot of times unlock my i515 but is the same answer... is not possible yet, my friend has an HTC EVO 3D CDMA and has the same network spesifications that my nexus and he can use normally in the same cdma carrier, i know the nexus has LTE/CDMA network, also i know in mexico doesnot exist yet LTE, my question is: can i unlock some day my nexus to use in CDMA?

No. Still no, and always no. I highly doubt you'll ever see a reliable method of unlocking this (or any) CDMA device for use on other networks. Its extremely hit or miss when it comes to CDMA devices.
You aren't going to be able to unlock an LTE/CDMA phone for VZW to work on another carrier, and if someone did manage to do so, it is only going to work on the CDMA network and nothing else. If you wanted to flash it to another network, you would need to find a way to unlink the LTE and CDMA radios. People have been looking into this since the DROID Charge came out (almost a year) and still have not found any way of getting it onto another network.

CDMA Devices aren't that bad to flash to other carriers .. You do however need the SPC and/or 16 digit password to do so.. Some newer phones are locked down pretty tight .. Most older CDMA can be manually programmed and prl updated to preferred carrier

This seems to be the root for S8+

Has anyone here tried the new root file for Verizon S8+
https://download.chainfire.eu/1080/...to-Root-dream2qltesq-dream2qltesq-smg955u.zip
It will only work with an unlocked bootloader. Since all US Snapdragon based S8's have a locked bootloader it useless.
So why has Chainfire made this at all if it does not work or will brick your phone? I should ask him but not sure he will answer.

He clearly states that it only works with an unlocked bootloader. If the snapdragon versions of the S8/S8+ had an unlocked bootloader it would work. Not sure why you could have an issue with him.

The U version isn't ever unlocked. Not with him. I'm just confused why it seems this would work on that model but it doesn't
If the bootloader ever gets unlocked by any means, it will work.

You missed my point and question to him. Which is "U" model is LOCKED because it is all phones inside the USA that are distributed by all 4 major carriers. So there is no such thing as SM-G955U which is unlocked. Does not exist. Thus I wanna know why there is even a zip file which chainfire created since it cannot be used on any of these phones. And why would it "get unlocked"....it is done at the factory. Only way to "unlock" it is to use a root method like was done on S7, where it basically involves flashing an engineering boot image/kernel that has root. At some point, this probably will be made and then using same modified ODIN (PrinceComsy) would potentially be the solution.

I will try and clear up some confusion. All US snapdragon versions of the S8+ have the same model number SM-G955U. There is an "unlocked" SM-G955U version of the S8+ in the US. It is carrier unlocked not bootloader unlocked. Apparently the CSC file carries the carrier information in the firmware. Also the S7 was rooted but never bootloader unlocked. So you could use most root apps but you could not modify any system files. The root was achieved with an engineering kernel and was not very useful.(ie bad battery life, phone getting hot and unstable). You could however flash any US S7 to any carrier or even the Unlocked firmware.
But if you cannot flash even the csc, how do you gain root access when Odin basically does nothing. That's my question and point. Seems that if I stick with Galaxy phones that I'm never going to attain root again. Probably because they don't want risks of pay apps being misused. I have one app that refuses to even run if I have usb debugging on. Vendors are getting smarter about locking things down.
It's not Samsung's fault...it is Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. I can't even take my Verizon phone and change it to T-Mobile. That's ridiculous!
If LG lets it's consumers unlock there bootloader then why don't samsung? I'm selling my ccarrier unlocked s8+ and buying a unlocked g6. Screw this crap. I hope samsung goes bankrupt! SAMSUNG ALLOW US TO UNLOCK OUR BOOTLOADERS.
I wish my S8+ was rooted?

The reason you can't do this is the bands are different (I believe). Or, at least Verizon is CDMA while T-Mobile is GSM. I don't know much about the differences between CDMA & GSM, but I know that CDMA phones won't work on GSM networks & vice versa. That's why Verizon phones won't work on T-Mobile. Hopefully that (kinda) cleared it up for you.

My goodness you could not be any more wrong..... That is no longer the case anymore. Verizon phones work on T-Mobile and all GSM carriers. I should know since I was with Verizon and I switched a while back but am now back on Verizon. Some phones from T-mobile won't work with Verizon but some do. It just depends on the phone and what bands it has. Like the S8 from T-Mobile will work on Verizon but an iPhone 7 from T-Mobile won't because it doesn't have CDMA bands. It's simple research

CDMA is only for 3G. With 4G, Verizon is using LTE GSM (same with AT&T, T-Mobile).
Verizon LTE covers over 98% of their network, but there are still some remote places where there is only CDMA coverage.
Verizon is moving away from CDMA and it will be retired by 2018.
So as long as you don't mind not having CDMA in a few places, any LTE GSM phone with Band 13 would work with Verizon.
Look at HTC U11, it doesn't have CDMA, but it's still advertised as "Verizon certified".
Sadly, the Internationals versions of S8/S8+ don't have band 13. But fortunately, all US versions have both bands 13 and CDMA support. That's why you can switch to any carrier as long as it's a US version.

My point exactly about the S8's. US variants are all the same no matter what carrier. All Google phones after the Nexus 6 are the same way. The Nexus 6 worked on all US carriers no matter where you got it from and it's like that all the way to the new Pixel phones. Where as iPhone's, just as an example, have different bands when it comes to different carriers. Unlocked, Verizon, and Sprint iPhone's have all bands both CDMA and GSM where as the GSM ones like those bought straight from T-Mobile or AT&T only have the GSM bands.
