Anyone else having this problem? I deleted all my text messages and the header still says Text Messages (1) as if there is 1 unread one... ????!?!
Not sure exactly...When I get a text and read it but don't want to delete it stays on the topbar. I have to go back to text messages page on the panel and scroll on it again. It will usually then remove it from the topbar. If you don't need the text message just delete it and it also is removed from the topbar on homescreen. I don't know if thats what you are having issues with but that's not the end of the world for myself.
I'm using WM6.1. It has the threaded text message strings. After i go into a message/conversation and read the text message it should remove the (1) from the top bar signifying no unread messages. I've read all my messages and even went as far as deleting them all but the (1) still persists!
Did you try to restart the phone like turn it off and back on... Also check your MMS maybe you have some message that was unread in there... Check it out and get back if this does not fix it...
Go to your registry and check the value there, look in : HKCU\System\State\Messages, and look in sms or wherever and check the count, if at 1 then set it to 0.
Also, remember the message is not "Read" if you just view without responding.
if you dont respond, you need to <- out of it....not hitting the home key or cancel or whatever.
that is the only thing that works for me.
I have a similar problem, when I view a text message it is not marked read immediately, and home screen shows the mail icon. To get over this problem, I do the following: after reading a message, I press Menu->Close instead of just pressing the BACK button.

nooooooooooooooooo i can't seem to do anything to get rid of it! i delete all the messages and even after that reset the registry key stated by showaco and after a restart it still shows [email protected] ARGghghhghghg
Could it be an unread message stored in another folder such as Drafts or Trash?
Unfortunately not
I checked each folder and went as far as emptying them all

OMG YOU FIXED IT.. THANKS A MILLION AFTER MONTHS! TOTALLY WORKED EXCEPT AFTER YOU DISABLE THREADED TEXTS YOU HAVE TO DELETE EVERYTHING THEN TURN IT BACK ON THANKS!!!
When using the text messaging tool that comes with the Cingular/ATT Tilt 2 (not the one from HTC), sometimes when I am reading a message thread, I will select several messages for deletion, select "DELETE" but they won't delete. When I leave the thread, all of the messages within that thread will appear to have been deleted. But if I open the HTC messaging tool, they are all there.
Anyone else have this problem, and is there a fix for it?
Is there a way on this phone to change individual notifications for contacts and text messages? What I would really like to do is mute text messages just from a certain contact. Is there an app I can maybe even download that will help with this?
Handcent will do what you want...
Either Handcent or Go SMS either one would actually do what your asking for some have said Handcent has a wake lock but ymmv but usually use Go SMS
Hello everyone,
The built-in Messages app takes time to load large / long text thread (5,000+ or 10,000+ thread messages. But this is not an issue for other SMS Applications like Handcent SMS or GO SMS Pro.
Any ideas?
Thanks and regards,
Nikki
How long did it take you to load your 5,000+ messages thread?
Mine seems to load forever, but GO SMS works fine.
I think it's because the stock sms app loads all the messages in one list (look at the short scroll bar) while those 3rd party apps like GO SMS only load the most recent messages.
is anyone else having issues with sms badges not deleting after sms messages have been read? if there a fix? if i reboot it seems to clear it, but wanted a better solution.
anyone have the same issue or found a resolution?
i have this issue. this doesn't happen (most of the time) if i check a new message by pressing the "Messaging" icon. if i view new messages using the notification bar, the badge (number indicating new messages) doesn't go away.
