Hi guys,
I saw a several post for the problem with the WiFi which dont want to connect after phone waked from standby
in my case - WM6.5 WWE Official Rom
how I solved this
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
string Value - "EnableAutoConnect" must be set to 1
this work for me.
At first when you powerd from StandBy you will see that the WiFi icon still missing, but when you open the browser or Im .. or whatever using internet
WiFI Start to connecting
Thats from me
I Hope that this will work and for you guys
Regards,
patzkata
Thanks! Hope this works.
Is there any way to have it connected w/out editting the reg? Also, what program is best for doing so?

I don't know
did you tried it already?
it seem that this is some king of bug in WM6.5, and after the phone sleep (stanby mode) after that the WiFi is ON, but it dont want to connect
so if you chance the registri like i said, you will have no problems any more
Regards,

The Registry Settings dont exist on my device. im running 6.5.3
Trying this - hope it works.
On do this.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
string Value - "HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended" must be set to 1

that worked for me. Thanks
the EnableAutoConnect edit worked for me, but the HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended did not hold after a restart. It would be nice if i could get my wifi to stay on. Any ideas?
BTW I got an HTC Tilt 2 with original rom WM6.5 rom ver 1.59.502.3 WWE
LiquidXed what i use and has worked with no problems so far to Keep Wifi enabled and on always ( even through standby) is Wifinostandby
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5353195
just install it and it will basically do what the Tweaks do (BBtweaks etc) but it does it auto on startup every time since the registry keys don't hold after restarts.

Hi all,
I recently migrated from old Handspring Treo 180g (PalmOS smartphone)
to new MDA III and now, only one thing miss me, a little utility (called TreoTools), which was able control switch on/off of GSM module by a sheduling.
So i was able to shedule to turn off module everyday at midnight and turn on back 8:40am at workdays and 11:00am at weekends.
This greatly improvement battery life on that device.
PLEASE, does anybody know, if exists similar utility for MDA III ?
Thanks alot !
Hi,
I think this software will help you
Thank very much !
This utility works perfectly, but do only a radio off (as its names). Unfortunately this can't do a "tooggle", and when is radio already off, popups an error message.
OK, there is other utility, shipped with MDAIII, RestartRadio.exe to turn radio ON. Unfortunately, it needs to launch twice, when radio is off  .
Code:
EDIT: Hey, i discovered, that RestartRadio.exe DO a radio togle !
Any idea, how with this two (now one) utilities do a daily shedule? Turn off at midnights, and mornigs turn ON? Some scheduler, that can launching .exe at specified time ?
Thx

I was were busy for last few days.
Want to thanx all, who tried to help me !!
I tryed these software utilities, and it seems, that PhoneSnooze work perfectly with MDAIII !!!! Thanx again.
P.S. i find yet another program for this task:
http://www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk/products/mPhoneSchedule.htm
The difference between PhoneSnooze and PhoneShedule is, that PhoneShedule plays a sounds while phone is switched on/off (it is good to know, that phone going off or on) and can also switching power to BlueTooth !! But seem to be little unstabled. (maybe due WM2003SE)
could you post a link to restart radio.exe?
I tried an eval. version of mPhoneSchedule and although the interface is great and it looks quite a good program, I found the following serious problems.
-Does not schedule properly when phone power is off. Specifically I mean when the radio is on and the phone is sleeping, i.e nothing is on the screen it will not turn radio off. Seems a bit ridiculous. I am trying to save power, why would I want to require that the device be fully on to turn the radio off.
-Only will turn BT on/off with radio if you have Microsoft BT, not Broadcom.
I am still also searching for a tool that accomplishes this. Can anyone chime in on the review above. Does PocketZenPhone have the limitations above?
Aaahhhhhhhhhhh
Can anyone help please?
I am running a PDA2K with i-mate 1.4 roms and radio 1.13.
Sometimes after a telephone call my GPRS fails to connect.
As I have Smartner push email on my phone this is a REAL pain and means I need to reset my device in order to re-establish GPRS and hence email.
THIS HAPPNES 4-8 TIMES A DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas for a fix out there please?
Cheers.
Robin
I've got this problem too. But i don't know how to make it work correctly!
Every time i need to reconnect the GPRS.
And i realy doesn't like it!!!
Try this chaps. I have applied the registry tweak and now I keep GPRS on all the time.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\(GPRS connection name)\AlwaysOn
Just change it from 0 to 1.
(GPRS connection name) is, of course, the name of your GPRS connection, and I'm not sure if that GUID is the same on
every machine or not, but I only had about 5 GUIDs under Providers, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

HOW do I make this change please?
I have no idea how to do it?

Dude you need a PPC registry editor. I use EdReg.
Very similar to a normal windows registry editor.
Fatzzz
I have found something like that there: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\Providers\(GPRS Connevtion name)
But there is no key named "Always on"!!...
Well you have got further than I have.
I download PHM Registry Edit.
I opened KKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then Comm and the only 2 options that start with a C under there are:-
Cellular Line and CXPort?????????
Is it something I am doing wrong????

Now I am getting really worried.
Either I am doing something very wrong or some of my setup is shot to peices.
And yet apart from this disconnect issue the phone is working fine!!!!!!

Okay.
It DOES help to check one of the check boxes asking for the kind of data I am looking for............. Dohhhhh
Well I found it under Microsoft.
I Have the following:-
Vodafone Internet
Vodafone MMS
Vodafone WAP and
Vodafone WAP CSD
NOTHING that says GPRS?

GPRS problem
From another post someone indicated that in the new rom build its a problem with the caller ID program, and that downgrading this will help the issue:
Here is a step by step instruction:
1. Download the older version of caller-id from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CAB_Files/Caller ID/IA_CallerID_1.20_WWE.CAB
and transfer it over to your device. Any directory is OK. I used ActiveSync to put it into the My Documents folder.
2. Remove the file IA_CD-Startup.exe from \Windows\Startup on your device.
3. Rename iacontacts.dll to something else (e.g. old-iacontacts.dll). This file is in the \Windows directory of your device but is hidden. However you can rename it using your PC. Open Windows explorer, and navigate to Mobile Device>My PocketPC>Windows.
4. Rename displayCID.dll to something else (e.g. old-displayCID.dll). Access it via your PC the same as for the previous step.
5. Soft reset
6. Run the CAB file on the device - just tap on it.
7. Soft reset.
That should do it.
Hope that helps someone, I have downgraded to the 1.22 rom which does not have this issue, but I am considering trying to upgrade to 1.40 and try this as a workaround to the gprs not able to reconnect issue, except after a soft reset or flight mode on/off cycle...
Many thanks.
I am off on holiday tomorrow so don't want to do anything that I cannot repare very quickly in case I have no phone while I am away.
I will give this a try on my return.
If anyone else tries this and is succesful please let us know.
Cheers.

GPRS Problems and caller Display
I too have been having problems with GPRS connecting once and then not again until a soft-reset or turning the phone off - on top of which caller display was slow and would often hang. (This is on an Alpine) I have succesfully downgraded the caller-id app and the GPRS problems have completely disappeared - on top of which, the app responds quicker, does not hang at all, and responds quicker on an incoming call. All in all, a result!
One note of caution - I had a password on my machine, and after renaming the files and doing a soft reset (as per instructions above) my Alpine would not restart. I had to to a hard reset! if you have a password on yr machine, disable it before you do the downgrade. The GPRS issue was really my only problem with my XDA, and now I'm a happy bunny.
Im just had to install this. Will see if it will be ok. I'll let you know.
I installed yesterday.
Seems to be working a treat.
EXCELLENT.
Many thanks for all the help.

Hi Robin - Glad to hear all is ok.. I notice that you're running the i-mate 1.40 ROM.. Any thoughts of updating to the 1.42..?

Anyone know how to turn the GPRS off so that it never comes on?
What you need is this ......... creates an icon called No Data, with it you can toggle on and off your GPRS, I've been using for a while and it is excellent, stops GPRS connections altogether until you want it...
Activesync it somewhere on your orbit and then click on it within File Explorer
Ah! Stew! Saviour! A million thanks... exactly what I was looking for...
Why?
Hi
Why turn GPS totally off? does it use more battery when your not using it?
MicTh
Hi there MicTh...
I'm with O2 and their data tarrifs are somewhat expensive.
I use wifi a lot so don't need GPRS. There has been the odd occasion where I've lost wifi signal and the phone started connecting with GPRS...
The above program put a stop to this!

I thought u were talkin about turning GPS off.... My bad
thanks i have also been looking for app like this

This can be done easily by:
Settings->Connections->Connections->Advanced->Select Networks->(in the first ComboBox) select "My Work Network" and click OK
No GPRS does it much simpler, simply toggling between on and off....GPRS can sometimes connect on demand, the phones demand not yours when receiving messages or when Quick GOS has become outdated, NO GPRS is the simplest solution I've found.......
Thanks - I've installed this - one question
I have disabled Mobile Web and O2 Active
Will I still receive MMS messages ???

now ive installed it and i click on the nodata icon it shows gprs as deactivated but if im usin wifii it says connecting to gprs is that normal or have i done something wrong.
also if it says connecting to gprs while nodata is installed does it still run up the bill, orbit is all new to me so im still trying to find my way around it im used to normal phone.
Hi,
just a question on this wifi-gprs. Is there a way to include a priority on one of the two?
I would like my phone to connect through wifi is it finds free or known connections, otherwise it should use wifi.
Anybody know of a setting to get this done?
Patrick
I have a Hermes and I can stop my GPRS connection instantly.
Please try this (also on other HTC models)...
When you still have a GPRS connection press and hold down the hangup button for 3 to 6 secs. (the red phone you use the end a phonecall) until the little GPRS icon disappears.
GPRS as a service will stay available.
Hi.
I'm sorry but I am having a noobie moment.
I have transferred the 3 NOGPRS files into My Music (cos I couldn't think of anywhere else to put it) and clicked on the "setup" file which opens revealing lines of code. But that's it, how do I install it? Where do I find the icon?
Sorry, this might seem basic to you but it is very complicated and difficult to understand for me.

I upgraded my ROM to the official Cingular WM6 (got it here). I have a problem with pocket IE on any connection other than GPRS/EDGE/3G.
I cannot browse anything with Pocket IE over wifi/active sync. I tried doing other stuff like checking my email and that works so I know its not the wifi settings on my PC. I also tried to connect my PSP and my NDS and both worked so its not some port problem.
Has anyone encountered this and does anyone know of a solution?
I have a problem with PIE not displaying graphics in full resolution. They are all down sized. view -> desktop no longer shows them at full size.
I'm using vp3gs wm6, with IE cache to card.
Any hints on how to restore graphics to their full size? I'm trying to view my network traffic graphs, and when they are downsized, they become useless. I was running Custel's 1.3 for months without issue.
Thanks!

I found the fix on the WIKI. It had to do with the had coded proxy that they put on the ROM. Deleting 1 key fixed it. If you encounter the same, look under Hermes_Problems of the WIKI.
i am having this same exact problem...off to the wiki!
edit: awesome, seems to be working well so far, thanks for the heads up!
and here is the fix if you don't feel like searching ( and who does? ) and woo 100th post!
Turn off hard coded proxy into IE
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings] The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000 Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001 Or simply delete it. It's more of the fact that if it's there and =0 it's used. if it's missing it's not used. But changing it to =1 will also make it disable. This way you can simply change the value back without re-adding the seting back in.
For some reason, the registry entry above will occasionally revert from =1 to =0, causing IE's proxy to be active again. Deleting the registry entry prevents this from happening.

I gave this a shot cause I realized I had the same issue. It didn't work for me. I don't know how to edit the registry yet. Could you point in the direction to do that. The first time I did it it worked without problems. I did a hard reset and after that it didn't work any more. Any tips.

Well, if you do a hard reset it's going to re-enable the proxy by default. I've never seen the Proxy Manager not work, let's put it that way. That said, if you go installing other settings cabs, etc... all bets are off (at least with my ROM, they are...).
Salute to you all!

I re-disabled the proxy. I guess it may be because I am at work right now and the wireless is crapy. I can't get anything other than a local connection on my PC. So I'll let you know later

The only way i have found to do this is to go to CommManager and turn off "Phone" and enable WiFi and then sign into Windows Live, and then go back to CommManager and Enable Phone again! it forces it to connect to wifi rather than the choice between wifi and gprs stuff
hope that helps

Sure but it eats you power, and borthers you when new AP are detected... if you can live with this no prob...

You can change your power settings to never let your device go automatically into standby mode which would allow the wifi to stay connected. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have it plugged into the power supply because the battery won't last the whole day with wifi always activated.

thanks so much !
searching for the prog right NOW !
A little late but someone maybe finds it usefull, no need for programs, all you have to do is this:
The solution to have "always on" wi-fi, is applying three registry hacks. Please note that you must apply all three registry edits and soft reset your device before this takes effect. If you're looking for a free and reliable registry editor for your Windows Mobile device, you can take a look at the PHM Registry Editor.
The necessary registry edits are:
1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\Suspend\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} - change to 1
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Resuming\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} change to 1
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Power\State\Unattended\{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006} change to 1
Now the wi-fi connection will stay on even while your device is suspended. Remember that you'll have to re-enable the wi-fi connection if you soft-reset your device, though.
Tested and it works!
