it only allows you to select one at a time. anyone know how to do multiple files?
I think if you open up the on screen keyboard, you can hit the ctrl key and select multiple files.
what about the tilt 2? there's no control key.
Set the on screen keyboard to "compact keyboard" I believe. One of the keyboard types on the "on screen" keyboard has a ctrl key.
I've been selecting the first thing then Shift+down arrow on the keyboard to select multiples. Will have to try the compact on screen keyboard.
thanks, do you know how i can multi select in inbox? so i can delete more than 1 email?

Does anyone know how to map the "OK" button (the one on the side next to the scroll wheel). I have practically no use for it. Or what about the ok button on the main face?
Its button five. Just go to settings, button and then select a different function for it.
I have SPB Pocket Plus and map that button to ALT TAB

button 5 is the voice button not the OK button.
I too would like to remap this button. I use Wisbar Advance and I could map the Close/Ok command of Wisbar to this button. Right now I have it assigned to the Comm. Manager button. but as the OK button is of little use to Wisbar it would be nice to us it.
Is it possable?
Try using PQzII. I have successfully mapped the ok button with it. The button code is hex 0x75 or decimal 117.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
Just put a line at the Program.ini:
"0","117","\Windows\VJOkButt.exe",""
yeah,
works great.
I used AE-Button before, but the nag screens were really annoying.
It is much easier using WkTask.
If you dont want to edit the Program.ini manually, here's a small tutorial
1. Download Install the appropriate PQzII*.cab file for your device
2. Right-Click(Tap&hold) on the uqly white Square at the Top of you screen and select setup.
if this does not appear for any reason, Start the PQzIISetup right from the Programm directory.
3. In the Setup, select the Program Tab.
4. Check "Use this function"
5. Click "Add"
4. Leave 'none' for the "Key" field, enter '117' in the "Code" field.
5. Enter the path to the programm which minimizes/exits your programms (for me this is \Windows\WkTask.exe"
6. Enter the parameter for the programm (for me this is /c)
(7). If you want to remove the ugly white square select the icon tab and uncheck "use this function"
8. Save Settings with "OK".
9. If you want to startup PzII automatically after device startup, create a shortcut to the exe in \Windows\Startup
Hope this helps you
regards,
Tobias

I'm looking for the code, dll, or application location that locks the keypad on wm phones. I'm looking to map one of my keys to lock the keypad whenever pressed. I thought the lock functionality on wm phones was an application but tons of searching turned nothing up.
Specifically, I have a t-mobile dash (htc s620) and want to map my t-zones key to lock my phone by editing the \Windows\short_IE.lnk file which controls the key's mapping
lock app
im looking for that too did you find it?

Hey, you can use the star key and it will lock your phone. Also holding the end call key will lock your phone. Additionally if you want to download the new 3volution ROM by Ookba on the Dash/Excalibur forum it comes with a built in keylock that locks the keypad after 10 seconds of inactivity. If you come post over in the Dash forum I'll hunt you down an app to solve whatever problem you have.
I figured out how to do this:
1) Find the DeviceLock.exe in windows/
2) Tap and hold on the EXE file, and select Copy from the context menu that popped up.
3) Navigate to Windows\Start Menu and you will see your current start menu programs in that folder. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list and tap and hold in white space (a blank part of the screen below all other programs), then choose Paste Shortcut. This will place a shortcut in your start menu. You can then rename the shortcut to whatever you choose.
Then you can go an modify the button mappings in settings and select the new shortcut you created in the start menu and you're done.

In WM6.0 Pro I didn't had the DeviceLock.exe on windows folder. so I had to use the cab above.
Still I don't get it why in a Samsung Omnia with WM6.1 you can lock the keyboard by pressing for 2 seconds the end call button and on HTC P3600 with WM6.0 the end call button doesn't do that.
Hello,
I test file explorer in omina and I find that I can simply tap on the
screen and select multiple files.
but in TP2 taping on the screen and moving the finger doesn't
do the same function as it do in omnia.
Is it some thing that HTC disable it?
how can I enable this function in TP2?
Thanks
+1 I would also like to know this as well. How can we select a file, cab or whatever just to select or highlight it without actually opening it? This is what I use to use the d-pad for on my previous devices, was to select or highlight files.
Example: I want to delete a cab file from my device, How do I highlight it without the cab file opening? I am sorry if this sounds like a noob question, but I just haven't figured it out yet. Since this is my fist device without a dpad.
*edit* Nevermind, brain fart. I know, just to tap and hold the file or cab for delete, copy, paste and highlight.
+1 but generally speaking, selecting multiple files as well. I did find that the soft keyboard has arrow keys that you can use to navigate the way the d-pad did on previous devices. Not as quick but the functionality is there. Had the same issue with threaded SMSs and needing to scroll through so I could forward certain messages. I hope this helps.
The new TF3D seems to have lost this function. You have to go to menu, Select multiple files, then tap to select/unselect the ones you want.
Tedious I know!

Sorry, getting confused with items in the message interface.
(BTW, MENU is bottom right soft button in File Explorer)
Yup, you are correct, there is no multiple select in the standard Win File explorer anymore due to the dumb TF3D replacement pop-up menu!
On all other Menu's there is a multiple item selection mode, even on Resco Explorer.
Looks like some bright spark at HTC forgot to add it to the File Explorer menu as touch selection is disabled it in the registry in preference to scrolling with the stylus!
I use Resco myself so never noticed...
I know this does not answer your question but I suggest you really consider an alternative to MS explorer.
Resco Explorer selects multiple files by sliding over the icons and scrolls when touch flowing over the file names.
Further more you can enable a double tap setting to open a file so you can select a single file by tapping it once without opening the file.
Include the finger friendly text size, bookmarks feature etc etc together it makes Resco to one of the best if not THE best explorer for WM. Just my 2 cents...
[email protected],
Why don't you just open the device's hardware keyboard and select multiple files by holding down the SHIFT button and using the arrow keys?
Laszlo
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Gestures\Touch]
"Disabled"=dword:00000001
Softreset. Now you may easy select multiple files using the stylus.
i always use the total commander (cab) it is easy and straigt
and u have a lot of more options.

IMO, well worth the money... even over the free file explorers & reg editors out there.
Hi guys
Any idea how i can do a cut, copy and paste function during editing of my contacts info? I tried to tap and hold on the selected text but no cut, copy and paste function is made available to me. Or is there any available freeware that will allow me to do this?
It's quite difficult not knowing or having this function for shifting the text between the fields as i need to re-type them out each time.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.
That's easy... ctrl+c, ctrl+v, ctrl+x. There is a reason that I LOVE my TP2 for having a Ctrl key, I use it all of the times. Contacts and Google Maps are two areas where the right click menu doesn't appear, and the keystroke shortcuts come in quite handy!
Jason
if you have a tilt 2, theres no copy and paste on the keyboard, i still havent figured out a way to map it to FN+C or FN+X or FN+V, but i just use swype onscreen keyboard to do it =X
You may could use "VitoCopyPaste.exe" to Cut, Copy and Paste. Just Google around. I also had it on my phone once.
You can use Keyboard Controller (link below) to remap many different keys. Since the Tilt2 doesn't have a control key, I suggest remapping the FN key+C for copy and FN+V for paste. You can allow keys to directly open programs and lots more - GREAT program. I can vouch for it working very well with the Tilt2.

Enjoy!
theres no function for copy and paste on the keyboard controller, or else i would have done that already, unless someone has a solution that i dont know about
Yeah why i didn't think of that - Ctrl + X, Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V
Thanks all for the help.
Cheers!
Jon
anyone have any idea to do this for the tilt2?
if you don't have the ctrl button, the "HTC People" contacts manager seems to have left out the popup cut/copy/paste menu on tap and hold of selected text.
but if you go to the windows contacts manager, the cut/copy/paste does come up. just either go to "More" within the HTC manager, or just start up contacts manually through the program list.
i actually prefer the windows contacts manager and have disabled the HTC tab.

Pick a key you are unlikely to want and map it is the Ctrl key then you can use ctrl x ctrl c and ctrl v

I use the Keyboard Controller on a Tilt 2 and have FN + C mapped to Ctrl -c (specifically, emulate key press, key 67 [C key], with the Ctrl box checked, send to OS). I have done similar with FN + X, & FN + V. Works great as copy, cut, & paste everywhere I have tried it.
I cant select ( highlight ) text from windows live messenger..
Also its very annoying to tap on the screen, and than select: select text, to be able to highlight and copy something.. is there anything i can do, to use it like htc kaiser... being able to select the text immediately ? without all those steps?

This works for me, I have been doing this since I got my Tilt2.
I have Z,X,C,V,A mapped. Very useful.
ctrl key functionality w/o need for ctrl (or Fn) key
I have found that the keyboard controller program also allows you to do this without having to use Fn (or any other two key sequence). What you can do is assign a long key press for C, X, V to serve as copy, cut, paste by emulating CTRL-C, CTRL-X, CTRL-V, while assigning the short key press (click) to retain the default key functions (i.e., c, x, v).
Of course, you can expand on this. I applied this method to create a Fn-key-free keypad. For number 1, a single click is still an apostrophe, but long press is number 1. While the built-in option to double-click Fn is definitely more efficient when you have lots of numbers to enter, my sense is that a long key press is more convenient when you have just a few numbers to input.
And, this method also works for undo (i.e., control Z on your computer can be long press z on your tilt 2). Which is a beautiful thing.
Two issues with this rom:
A) can't get home switcher to stay loaded so that I can switch to Launcher Pro. Is there anyway around this?
B) Is there any way to get rid of the HTC embedded mod keyboard and use Swift Key? There is no setting under KEYBOARD which allows you to choose which keyboard to use?
Thanks, in Advance....

A) Ok do this presss menu>settings>applications>manage applications>press the "All" tab>Scroll down to HTC Sense and tap it> scroll down and select "clear defaults"> now from the Home button on your phone(looks like a house)>A Complete Action Using window should appear> Check the "Use by default for this action" button>then select launcher pro......Laucher pro should be your default launcher now.
B) under settings>Language & Keyboard. Check the box next to all the keyboards to enable them. now open a text or something where you need to type. tap & hold in the text field until the "Edit Text" window appears then select Input Method and then pick your poison....DONE.
Hope that answers your questions bud.
