I'm looking for the code, dll, or application location that locks the keypad on wm phones. I'm looking to map one of my keys to lock the keypad whenever pressed. I thought the lock functionality on wm phones was an application but tons of searching turned nothing up.
Specifically, I have a t-mobile dash (htc s620) and want to map my t-zones key to lock my phone by editing the \Windows\short_IE.lnk file which controls the key's mapping
lock app
im looking for that too did you find it?
the closest i got was this:

Hey, you can use the star key and it will lock your phone. Also holding the end call key will lock your phone. Additionally if you want to download the new 3volution ROM by Ookba on the Dash/Excalibur forum it comes with a built in keylock that locks the keypad after 10 seconds of inactivity. If you come post over in the Dash forum I'll hunt you down an app to solve whatever problem you have.
I figured out how to do this:
1) Find the DeviceLock.exe in windows/
2) Tap and hold on the EXE file, and select Copy from the context menu that popped up.
3) Navigate to Windows\Start Menu and you will see your current start menu programs in that folder. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list and tap and hold in white space (a blank part of the screen below all other programs), then choose Paste Shortcut. This will place a shortcut in your start menu. You can then rename the shortcut to whatever you choose.
Then you can go an modify the button mappings in settings and select the new shortcut you created in the start menu and you're done.

In WM6.0 Pro I didn't had the DeviceLock.exe on windows folder. so I had to use the cab above.
Still I don't get it why in a Samsung Omnia with WM6.1 you can lock the keyboard by pressing for 2 seconds the end call button and on HTC P3600 with WM6.0 the end call button doesn't do that.

I have a vodafone universal, and using Start-settings-buttons, it was possible to assign functions to the 2 keys on the top line of the keyboard with dashes "-" on them.
I have installed jwrights crossbow ROM and, I would like to assign these buttons.
I have searched and failed to find out about these 2 buttons (ihave found the backlight mod thread, but cant figure out about these 2)
thanks

Using any registry editor (eg. resco), go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys. The key 112 is the left "-" key, and the key 113 is the right "-" key. Open and edit to name and point them to what program you want to assign as follows:
- default: in the string box you type the name of the program you want to assign the key
- Open: in the string box you type the link to the .exe or the .lnk file of the program
i thought 112 and 113 are buttons on th etoday screen, not the hard buttons on the keyboard. the ones next to the red and green phone icons. Are these OC07 and OC08, but i am not sure
Have assigned 113 without problems but 112 (left "-") somehow became assigned to PHONE application. So now if I press green button - phone appears, if I press left "-" again phone appears. Although in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys it shows different program to be opened. Any ideas please?
p.s. after few soft-resets started working in the way it's been assigned in the registry.
Those buttons with dashes are called soft keys. So just search for soft keys and you will find an app that will enable you to assign different applications to the soft keys. Search for HACKS, you will probably find it in the hack thread.
I suggest use of PQz as a great alternative.

Yes you can. First step is to find the soft key CAB or files I mentioned. After installation, go to the windows folder and locate the comm manager icon and create a copy or shortcut of it at the Windows>Start Menu>Programs folder or to any folder you want.
Of course, you don't have to assign this to any soft keys, another way for the Comm Manager to show up is by pressing the Fn key and the Right arrow key simultaneously.
cheers geezer!! top man! so long little green dot, it was the only thing cluttering up my today screen! i am now fully happy with my exec!! just gotta sort out my gprs and skype settings! and then i think it'll do everything i want it to do!
ok, well, iv put the soft key applet onto my phone, then moved it into the windows directory and then soft reseted, but im a bit stuck now? how do i reasign my 2 soft keys?? please help!

Look into Start>Settings>System Tab>Here you will see the app for soft key assignment.
But before that, you need to go to Windows folder and copy the Comm Manager app and create a shortcut icon on Windows>Start Menu>Programs.
Does anyone know how to map the "OK" button (the one on the side next to the scroll wheel). I have practically no use for it. Or what about the ok button on the main face?
Its button five. Just go to settings, button and then select a different function for it.
I have SPB Pocket Plus and map that button to ALT TAB

button 5 is the voice button not the OK button.
I too would like to remap this button. I use Wisbar Advance and I could map the Close/Ok command of Wisbar to this button. Right now I have it assigned to the Comm. Manager button. but as the OK button is of little use to Wisbar it would be nice to us it.
Is it possable?
Try using PQzII. I have successfully mapped the ok button with it. The button code is hex 0x75 or decimal 117.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/PQzII.htm
Just put a line at the Program.ini:
"0","117","\Windows\VJOkButt.exe",""
yeah,
works great.
I used AE-Button before, but the nag screens were really annoying.
It is much easier using WkTask.
If you dont want to edit the Program.ini manually, here's a small tutorial
1. Download Install the appropriate PQzII*.cab file for your device
2. Right-Click(Tap&hold) on the uqly white Square at the Top of you screen and select setup.
if this does not appear for any reason, Start the PQzIISetup right from the Programm directory.
3. In the Setup, select the Program Tab.
4. Check "Use this function"
5. Click "Add"
4. Leave 'none' for the "Key" field, enter '117' in the "Code" field.
5. Enter the path to the programm which minimizes/exits your programms (for me this is \Windows\WkTask.exe"
6. Enter the parameter for the programm (for me this is /c)
(7). If you want to remove the ugly white square select the icon tab and uncheck "use this function"
8. Save Settings with "OK".
9. If you want to startup PzII automatically after device startup, create a shortcut to the exe in \Windows\Startup
Hope this helps you
regards,
Tobias

Is it possible to assign to xpanel button switching between programs? i don't use this button and this option would be great for it i think.
p.s
don't redirect me to thread where is written how to assign exe to xpanel button
Hah found how to do it I will write tutorial maybe someone need it.
1. We need software called AltTab.exe
Download and put in Windows directory
2. Take any registry editor and go to ( thanks to jackleung )
HKLM\Software\SonyEricsson\PanelManager\ApplicationName
and Change it to \..\Windows\AltTab.exe
3. Nothing more now xpanel button switches between running programs
amazing.
Will test this now.

yes, you have to reset your system, but NOT the "hard" way...
go to \windows\startup and delete the panelmanager.lnk in there. do a softreset. now change the reg-key like mentioned above. do NOT press the x-panel-key!!! (you can use any program-file, i use it for starting comm-manager)
one more softreset and you're done.
the reason for this is:
if you press the panel-key the first time after flashing a rom, a .lnk get's put into the startup-folder, starting panelmanager with every boot and overwriting any changes to the reg-key you may have made. (kinda like autostart on your pc)

Not only got rid of the panel manager, but can also cycle through open apps.
However... it seems to cycle through just 2 apps. If 3 or more applications are open, it will just cycle through the last 2.
I followed the instructions as above - maybe there is another tweak?
Try installing TaskFacade and assigning the X-button to it. Really nice program, all cred goes to GPS-lover.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420220
Use the fist state on the camera button instead. That isn't used for anything anyway. Assign alttab.exe with AE Button Plus. I use it with double tap on the button so I don't press it by mistake. When entering the xperia camera it works as usual. So you don't need to worry about that.

If you press Xpanel button fast it will switch between other apps.
I loved TaskFacade
If you want to assign TaskFacade to Xpanel - you just write \TaskFacade\TaskFacade.exe
fantastic, thanks a lot to vladimired and caliban2! Now I can finally switch between programs (and also turn to the today screen) with the X-Panel button and close programs quickly with the OK button.
For this I do not use TaskFascade. I prefer the app switcher from Spb Pocket Plus. If you use this program, just copy the AltTab.exe in the folder ...\programs\PocketPlus into the windows folder like mentioned above. The rest is similar.
Im kinda lost, can you post clearer instructions on how to do this with the tab.exe and taskfacacde, thanx
Here is video how everything works with TaskFacade
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bw1dIW-YBLA
i will write more detailed manual lately today, if my work will not swallow me
TaskFacade its the best aplication i have in my x1a thanx
TaskFacade is a very nice app, but it does take some time for the images of the open applications to appear.
I'm after speed... compared to TaskFacade, it's faster to go to the Manila home page and click on the "OK" button area, and then switch as necessary.
That was the benefit of AltTab... but it'll only cycle through 2 open applications
I've installed Ae Buttons but i don't figure what button from the menu is the X Panel button? Any ideea?
I want the x panel button to open the panel manager when pressed short, and another program when pressed long.
Cheers!
Edit: I found this: Press File->Add button and press the button. The X-Panel button code: #00EA. Now i try to make it work on long press
Later Edit: Done. If you select from the drop down menu and chose "4.Long press" you can choose an action. I thought that if i select "4.Long press" , the "1.Single press" will become inactive, but i was wrong. Now my Xperia is Perfect
Hi all,
i'd like to inform You about small application that could be useful with changing mapped x-panel button:
RWA - Run With Argument - 1.0
small application that allows to run any other *.exe file with arguments...for some reasons it can be useful especially when working on HTC devices...
so we bind XPanel to RWA, and in RWA for ex. tmail.exe with SMS argument... to we get SMS Inbox under XPanel Button
and that's all... maybe somebody could find it as an useful application ...
XDA Thread Link
thank you!!
thanks to vladimired for this trick, very usefull
i set XPanel Button with TaskFacade (that looks like a Panel Manager ) and it works fine
Everyone,
Does anyone know how to set up a keyboard shortcut to the Start Menu? I want to be able to press a button on the keyboard to open the start menu. I can assign a button via the Send button (using button programming in Settings, a stock Windows Mobile feature), but I can't see how to get the the keyboard.
Any ideas? Thanks!
there is a key remapper program in the apps, themes, & software subforum that someone made that can do this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554240
Or does anyone have any alternative program list screens that would work just as well. Looking for a favourites type list.
thanks
Three step process for me to get this to work.
First, you need to download the CAB that adds the Program tab to TF3D and re-enables the WM start menu. That can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528760
Second you will need the keyboard re-mapping utility found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528760
Third, you will need to re-map your home button on "click" to run program: \windows\manila.exe with arguments of "--switchtopage Manila://programs.page
For long press I use the same program with arguments of "--switchtopage Manila://homepage"
And for double click I "Emulate Key press" left Win key to bring up the WM start menu.
I have the best of all worlds with this config.
i downloaded the SPB Mobile Shell and added it to the jump screen...fairly simple set up...
i downloaded the free trial 2 weeks ago and its still working...dont know how long its supposed to last tho...
