I have noticed that my thumbnail views of my different albums are often the wrong picture, they are the correct picture when I select it, but the thumbnails can be just about any picture in my albums. They migrate from different albums as well, and from storage card to device. A soft reset does not help. Not a huge problem, more frustrating than anything when looking for a particular photo.
Anyone else have this issue, and is it fixable?
Nobody has encountered this?
Yes I've noticed it too. It seems to happen where the photo is an unusual size - for example, a cropped landscape that is long and thin.
Don't know how to fix it however!
When I sync photos with Windows Media Player, photos arrive in tiny, pretty much unusable format on the TP2 - can't seem to find a suitable setting in WMP to fix - anyone?
I've noticed this too. It seems to only happen when I start to scoll through the pics before they're done loading the thumbnails.
I tried letting all the thumbnails load first, but they load and stay incorrectly. Also, the more I go through pictures/albums, the more incorrect thumbnails seem to appear.

Hi All
Small question...
My Music Tab seems to display the songs i have OK, but oddly, it has picked 3 or 4 cover thumbnails and uses them for all tracks?
No real biggie, just tends to make Cover Flipping kinda redundant.
Anyone know where the cache is for these thumbnails. I did look in App Data/ etc and cleared that, but no difference.
All my songs are on my 16GB Micro SD, i do have a few hundred tracks, maybe that's it - it does seem to scan pretty slow too...?
I have also noticed the thumbnails on the Photos Tab get screwed up too. When looking at Albumss I seem to have thumbnails from other places displaying
for the wrong pictures in the wrong places..?
Could this be a cache kinda thing too?
Cheers

mine does the same thing. it wont change off the first song. same artwork for ALL artists. how can it be fixed?
Anyone with knowledge...?

I think it ll extract the cover for each album and put it in the directory where the MP3 file is.
So this cover will be used for all over MP3 files in the same directory !
The solution is to have separate folders for each album you have.
At least, it was how it was working on my old Kaiser, i m not sure it still works the same way.
Album art is cached in a hidden file called HTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg under each folder, but AudioManager should generate a separate cache file for each album or song (if stored in the same folder). Try deleting the cache image and see if AudioManager will recerate them correctly.
Photo Album cache issue - try delete all files and folders under this folder:
My Device\Application data\htc\htc album\

Thanks for all the info...
I did try the cache idea for the music tab, found the 'AM' image (saw all the others too), deleted it, it rescanned and came back with the exact same image for all - even in Library view...?
It seems it just recreates that specific AM file with the same single album art and applies to all tracks as before.
I did manage to sort the Image Thumb cache issue with your advice - thank you.

the other day i was playing around with htc albums. this app uis what i primarily use to view pics and vids. in fact it it linked to the camera app as the app that is used to view picture that you would take.
anyways, i somehow got this to show me every picture on my phone which i thought was nice and interesting, bad thing is that now every time i open this app it shows all the pics on my "device" and storage card and they are all mixed up. i want this to be like it used to be, it used to juts show the pics i have taken with the camera....
i tried to change the "favorite album" but it goes right back to showing all my pics even thumbnails in the opera temp folder
please advise
well i figured what was causing this, and the fix.
apparently booting to android causes something, prolly android, to create a thumbnails folder within my dcim folder
and it seems to make a thumbnail of all the pics it can find and drop them in this folder. it will even make thumbnails or thumbnails
this also explains why some of the pix i was taking with the cam looked like crap, because i was viewing thumbnails
fix: delete this thumbnail folder, but it will come back as soon as i boot android
just thought i'd share
I have two problems and i wanna ask if there is anyone alse sharing this problems
1. Gallery it froze every time, sometimes when i open it, sometimes when i open folder there... after update I literally didnt see single photo there
2. Music, songs have different album pic...
Porcupine tree is Offspring now... Slipknot is Sex pistols etc. restart didnt help..
what's wrong??
I don't know the problem but there have been a few issues with it going slower etc with some people.
I had same problem gallery freezing. I think some files are reason because of gallery app try to create thumbnails, and i put in folders .nomedia files which i suspected. and now its ok this fix my gallery "force close" problem.
lohpsch said:
Just put a .nomedia file in the folder where you have the pics and videos you want to hide.
You might already have this file in your sdcard (some ebook reader or other app that has pics not show in the gallery).
If not, just create an empty text file and rename it.

Hello guys! Greetings from a newcomer to these forums!
I would like to know if any of you know how to get rid of the facebook albums that appeared in my gallery on my S3. i've tried conventional tactics like trying to delete, unsync, etc...but to no avail.
Also, is there any way to set where a certain file ends up such as where a picture goes when you take a picture with the camera app? I've moved the folder where the picture gets sent too via the "My Files" icon and moved that folder to my SD card but when i take a picture it still ends up in a new folder on my phone memory.
One more question. I have a Picasas album which I cannot delete as well in my gallery, any advice?
Apologize in advance about all the questions and I appreciate your responses!
You even get your picasa web albums... even if you tell it not to sync albums in sync settings. So I froze the default gallery, and use QuickPic as my daily driver.

Exactly what I did. I fooled around for 25 minutes trying to remove that extra junky: Samsung failed hard here. QuickPic is great: fast and you can pick which folders to show!
I have a few albums where the album art refuses to change no matter which program I use.
Based on some searching I found that if you delete all files in "com.android.providers.media\albumthumbs" that the phone should stop forcing its art on specific albums. However after doing so you also have to change the folder to read-only.
I did this on an old s5 neo and it worked.
However on my current s9 I don't have the option to delete files in this folder. So, I found the folder by connecting my phone to my pc and deleted all the files... but I can't change the permission of the folder either on my phone or pc to read-only, so the album art is still not changing.
Tried a bunch of different apps, and in the apps the art is ok, but in the actual music player it's not.
Is there any work around for this? Or any other way to force the album art to change? Any way to change the folder to read-only?
Thanks!
It seems strange that art wouldn't change. Are you sure there isn't art embedded into the files? Download a music tagger, I recommend Mp3tag if you're on Windows, and open the files in there to see if there's any art embedded. Also make sure there isn't a hidden folder.jpg anywhere. If you can't figure it out maybe upload one of the files and I'll have a look to see if I can find the problem.
Hey sure thanks so much if you could help that'd be great.
Here is one of the files. I just opened it in mp3tag, deleted the album art, added a high quality pic. Yet when I uploaded to my phone it still shows some low quality crap as album art.

I've taken a look and the file appears to be OK. Did you happen to check if the previously embedded pic was low quality? Because if it was you might just need to clear albumthumbs again, then recopy over the album with the high quality art embedded in each file (you might also just be able to put it as folder.jpg in the same folder with no embeds on any files, not certain if that works) and let the cache regenerate.
If that doesn't work then I have a couple more questions - how low quality are you talking (a screenshot would be helpful), and what music player are you using? Because testing the file in Samsung Music looks fine to me. You could also have a look at another music player with an option to ignore mediastore's cached covers (which are usually compressed more) and reads the art directly from the file. There are a bunch available that can do this like Retro, Shuttle, Phonograph, Poweramp, and probably tons more.
I've attached screenshots of what it looks like for me on Retro (with mediastore disabled) and Samsung Music.
Hey no I didn't check the previously embeded pic. I did however clear albumthumbs and then recopied the song, but still didn't work. Don't know what the f is up with this phone lol.
I'm not sure what you mean with the folder.jpg. I'm supposed to name the album art file folder.jpg?
Ya mine doesn't look like that unfortunately. Here's a pic of how mine looks on Samsung music player. Also here's the pic I'm trying to use.

Welp, my last idea apart from trying a different music player is to clear the data of Samsung Music. If that doesn't work, I probably can't help sorry.
By the folder.jpg thing I mean instead of embedding the file in every MP3 on an album, which takes up more space (say your album cover is 700 kilobytes across 10 songs, that's 7 megabytes), you can just put it in the same folder as the files (like the attached image). It could also take priority depending on the app, not sure how Samsung Music handles it.
That's alright thanks so much so far.
How do I clear the data from samsung music?
In terms of putting the album art in the same folder as the files... do I do that on my phone or my computer?

Open Settings, then go to Apps, find and tap on Samsung Music, then tap Storage, and Clear data. And you can do it on either.

Oh man thanks so much... it finally worked. There are still a couple albums which it didn't work for but it worked for most. Maybe clearing albumthumbs again will work.
Also there's another problem, lol. The mini album art at the bottom of the screen shows up as the old one instead of the new one. I'm gonna try clearing albumthumbs and samsung music again and hopefully that fixes it.
Hey so I (or better you) figured it out finally. If you change the album art right before you clear samsung music then after clearing it will show up with the correct album art in all places. Some of the older ones I changed didn't show up, but if I changed them right before clearing they all showed up perfectly.
