I installed WM Longlife and I didn't like the popups that came everytime I opened an application that wanted to connect to the internet; so I uninstalled it. Then I noticed that my TP2 will no longer connect to 3G automatically even when I was in several different 3G zones. I installed Longlife again and used their switcher to connect to 3G and it worked. I tried tweaking the settings back to normal and then uninstalling it again, but the same problem with automatic connection occurred again. As we speak, my phone is sitting in a 3G network but is connected to EDGE.
Any thoughts?
Man, I have the same problem! Im using a Touch Pro, but same bad!
check to see if 3G is disabled. You could be locked on to just GSM instead of of GSM/WCDMA.
Settings>Phone>Band & make sure they're both set to Auto
You all crack me up
Hard reset time
I have the same issue. My phone doesnt connect to 3G ever...ive seen the icon change from Edge to 3G but very fast...it doesnt stay on. hmmm I hope tmobile or someone here finds a fix for it..i feel like im missing out using Edge..
If the advice posted by xnifex doesn.t work here is what you could do (other than hard reset ), reinstall wmlonglife, soft reset, wait the app to load, than chose from ,,band switcher,, 3g auto, wait till you see the taskbar icons change to 3g. Now you can uninstall the app (used to happen to me too)

Lately I've been having a problem with my hermes where if I have the Wifi on for any amount of time after turning the wifi off the phone will not allow mt gprs to connect and the data icon in the comm manger is grayed out. Ive tried resetting my connection settings and soft resets work some times, a hard reset seemed to have done the trick but then it happened to me again this evening. I would just skip using the wifi but the reception in parts of my house can be spotty at times and I really don't want to miss my emails and such.
Any insight would be appreciated.
btw I'm running the latest version of LSVW and I have a cingular branded device.
for some reason, my phone keeps going to 'no service'. i have set it to gsm for network type and auto for gsm/umts.
i installed the no data cab because my phone always keep getting connected to the internet after turning off data connection and 3g. i even went into task manager and i don't know what else to disable that connects to the internet. that's why i installed the no data cab.
after installing the no data cab i noticed the 3g is turned on in communication manager, and i get the bars and see the big H. i turn off the 3g, and then i get no service, but then no service again.
i then went into network connection and chnaged gsm to auto. and now it works with the big H and the 3g is turned on, but even when 3g is turned on, i can't connect to the net unless i toggle in the no data cab program.
anyone please help!
radio issue?
do you think it's a radio issue?
i think its just telling you that ur in a 3g/HSPA area not that ur actually connected to 3g
but it didnt do that before, it would just be no service and I would have to change to 3g..not sure why.
True, the 3G or H icon will sometimes show up to tell you that those signals are present, even if the phone is not actually connected to them.
The toggle in the Comm Manager is basically useless. It will connect automatically if you open your browser or other program that uses the data connection, even if the Data Connection is toggled "off". The only exception is if you are Airplane Mode.
If I remember correctly, you also need to toggle the Data Connection off in the Comm Manager, after you toggle "off" in NoData. I don't think NoData can shutdown a data connection that is already open. So I guess the bottom line is that you have to use BOTH the Comm Manager and NoData to toggle the data connection off and on.
radio reflash
So the odd thing is, no issue occured after I reflashed a different radio. Maybe it was the radio? But yes, I do have to use NoData and CommManager together. I had to soft reset after installing.
I changed the apn settings on my desire and now I am having problem connecting to the internet using either 3G or hSPDA. before changing the settings I was able to connect to the internet using 3G but now when I have try to go online and the 3G icon is displayed the phone does not do anything and if it will evetually connect to the internet it will only do via the H (HSPDA)... I have reset the apn to default and its all the same, no improvement, I have input the mms settings again with no effect.... no its getting on my nerves now... am thinking of reseting the phone back to factory settings.....
I suggest you get new settings from here: http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS

thanks for that
tried it but they only had hd2 and touch 2 listed for phones under android...
So far i believed that hd2 and touch 2 phones are wm not android :? ??? strange...
are there any options for different android phones? hero, magic, etc... as they should work with desire
just go to the APN settings and press Menu>return to defaults. The settings are preprogrammed in for t-mobile UK, and they are definitely correct.
As for not being able to connect on 3G, that is a known t-mobile issue. When 3G is showing, it is supposed to change up to H when you try and send/receive data. sometimes, their network does not change up successfully, and you end up sitting on 3G with no data transfer.
turn mobile data off and back on again and that usually fixes it. There's three or four threads on that on the T-mobile website.
Now this is interesting ...
After I read your reply below, I think that issue is NOT only in the UK.
Because I use T-Mobile NL and I got exactly the same problem!!!
I am still using my HTC Kaiser though and I was (still) confused why I "suddenly" could not connect to the internet
I use Opera Mini, at first it was connected fine, browsed several websites and then suddenly dead on ... cannot connect.
Restart Opera Mini, same issue ... the connection still there.
Restart the data connection ... there you go, I was able to browse again.
Damn! I did not know that this is T-Mob issue I tried to clean my WM device, reinstall Opera and whatnot ....
Oh yeah, this issue just happened recently ... like a month or two months.
Before that, I have no problem like this.

I searched through these forums and I could not find an answer, so if I missed it, just let me know. I am curious if anybody knows how to solve this problem. I live in a small town that is on the At&t's Edge network, and I commute to a larger city with At&t's 3G/Hspda network.
Whenever the phone transitions from E to H networks, the data connection will not work. I activate Opera or do the weather update on the home screen and a message pops up saying that it cannot connect. Now, if I do a soft reset, it works perfectly. It never disconnects or gives me any problem. Also, when I return to the E signal, it switches over perfectly with absolutely no need for a reset. It started this when I installed the new Tilt2 rom from the HTC website. I have installed Net 3.5, jh2001 data speed fix, the advanced config tool, and have properly set up the required options on the config tool and under settings->connections->advanced network. If necessary, I have never changed the radio.
Has anybody else run into this problem or know of a fix? Thanks in advance.
This morning my phone lost i-net. I'm no longer able to connect to internet using 3G my browser says error on network and android market says "no connection" or something like that
The icon "H" is still displayed in status bar indicating that there is HSPD connection, but there isn't. Under the "H" there are two arrows pointing up and down, wich usualy stayed gray while no data used, and become bright while data is used. Now "down arrow" is bright all the time - something wrong. The problem is that I haven't touch any settings recently it just gone wrong this morning.
I've done hard reset - no luck, same problem.
now even cannot send sms.
What is wrong ? can I tottaly reset the phone somehow?
P.S. SIM card seems to be alright. I've put it in another phone and i-net and messages go allright.
..how do I get rid of this HSDPA ?
I want force it to regular UMTS (3G)
Hi yonef!
Firstly, I think that HSDPA is the only 3G system in this fone.
So, if you really wanna test if everything is working fine, I suggest you try to put it in 2G mode and check stuff.
Go here: Settings > Wireless & network settings > Mobile Networks > Select network
and select 2G only.
Now try to SMS and surf and see if stuff works. If its still a dud, then a call to the customer care is what you really need!
Although am quite new to android, I have been successfull in modding my trusty old Sony Ericsson K550i fone
yeep, I've just found that 2G kind of working, It is receiveing data (slow), but occasionally it says that there is no connection to internet.
It should be something with the phone, because when I put this very SIM in another phone, 3G is working just fine. When I put it back to the motorola, it is connecting ( "H" symbol apears but there is no internet
Hard reset did not fix it
And it happens jut this morning, I havent touch any settings since last week (weird)
