sim swapping on tp2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

just wondering, is the tp2 sim-swapping friendly? I swap sims about twice everyday and would like to know if i'd end up damaging the phone if i were to do it?

I got myself one of those dual sim card things fom simore.ch
I first bought the gold, didnt work and then a week later the platinum came out. So I got that and so far so good. Its a bit slow in the switching, takes about..30-40seconds. But its nice when I travel and land at another airport and just do the switch with an app then to pull the phone apart and worring about losing a sim or something.

Dual Sim (Ghost Adapter) SHARE YOUR EXPERIANCE

many say dual sims work and many say they dont so whats the final verdict. i have an orange connection and they seem to scam me every month as i said too many text messages. i have just got one of those 300 free text message o2 sims and wanna use both of them togather without having to carry another phone.
i think you will find that your phone is locked to you network. so you won't be able to use the o2 sim.
SORTED!!
for anyone who is scare of doing this ive doen it and it works. i have an orange contract sim card and o2 onlien pay as you go sim card working togather. these sims are both new so this has nothing to do with how new the sim cards are so thats bull.
the adapter i bought was a cheaop chinese one rather than ones people pay £15 pounds for so its dosent matter if you see a cheap one.
the hardest part was cuttiing the sims cos i was scared i would make them useless but there were stickers that helped to outline how to cut them. still i had to cut some of the sim bits as well. works fine. another diffciult bit was getting the stickers off.
dotn worry after you cut them you get a resume card which you can use to make your sim normal again and it all works fine.
im me if you have any questions ill be more than happy to assist as i can...
I bought two adaptors because initially I didn't want to cut the SIMs and I had no idea how they phisically where. Here you can see the photos:
http://pof.eslack.org/blog/2005/05/19/dual-sim/
The first one doesn't fit, so I had to cut the sims and use the second one. It works fine for me. Just turn flight mode on and then off again to switch sims.
FYI I bought them at eBay, really cheap.
Were you able to fit it at the back? Were you able to close back the battery properly. I am worried that the space at the back will not allow such SIM adaptor. Waiting for your reply as I do intend to use another SIMCard if possible.
The one where you don't have to cut the SIMs doesn't fit, so don't buy it.
This one is the one that fits, because its the size of a single SIM card, but contains two SIMs:
http://pof.eslack.org/blog/wp-content/dualsimholder.jpg
the adpater is thicker no doubt. you can push it in though. if you dont wanna get it out every so often theres no problem. if you do then you are going to have a struggle. when you do take it out do it carefully cos you dotn want to break the clip that holds the sim. i havent broken mine but always scared i will.
BUY THE ONE WHERE YOU HAVE TO CLIP THE SIM. SOUNDS SCARY BUT IF I CAN DO IT SO CAN YOU. IM NOT GOOD WITH DELICATE THINGS LIKE THAT AND I MANAGED
forgot to tell you one thing. it does make life simple by not having to swap sims or carry two phones. the hassle is when you have to keep switching the radio off or dooing a soft reset to swap around. someone on this forum suggested a facility where you could use two sims at the same time so you could get netrwork from both. good idea but not possible i thought about it and im not a techie.everytime i go on the tube it swaps netwroks when im underground. that is a hassle but i guess theres good and bad things about everything.
read about the sim programming sim if you can get hold of that get it cos that sounds interesting. i cannotbe bothered as this works fine for me.
Why so confusion...Gaurav...go to any telephone shop and ask for a dual sim adaptor where ever u are in India....the shop man will show u differrent kinds of the adapters...choose one which fits your device ...
I am using the ghost sim,,,china made...in XDA2s very successfully since past 3 months.... 8)
hdubli... im indian but live in teh uk so its bit difficult. i saw them really cheap whilst on holiday last time. round here cannot find shops that seel them cheap so had to get it off ebay. think i got hold of the same one as you but i bet you got it 10 times cheaper than what i paid maybe you can start supplying to people from there. i dunno...
would be nice if there was an accessorties shop of some sort on this forum where people could buy tested items which are guaranteed to work.

It's about my personal experience with a twin sim ghost adapter and might contain information you consider useful.
Ghost Dual SIM
I bought a Php500 (around USD9) Ghost Dual SIM Adaptor.
It works flawlessly switching between my main Globe SIM Card and my secondary 24/7 Sun Cellular SIM.
Switching is done thru Flight Mode ON/OFF. Losing signal like passing thru basement parking and elevators does not switch SIMS.
As bonus, the local mobile phone accessory stores here in Philippines have their own puncher so trimming the SIM card is not a problem. They do it for free.

thats the same one which i had, it broke after about the 5th time i took it out
With that information, I will never remove this Dual SIM Adaptor until it is really necessary and unavoidable.
Actually, I installed mine in the store where I bought it. The first two adaptors were defective. Of course, I didnt pay for it. I expected high defects rate of these SIM Adaptors as they really look cheap construction-wise.
Multi SIM - SIM MAX - changing phone number by STK
HIIII! I'm from Portugal and i have bought a SIM MAX ( http://www.sim-max.com/ ), i´ve programed 2 of the 12 numbers that the card supports. In my Alcatel mobile phone it works, but in my Qtek 9090 only works with the 1th number, i can't change between numbers or networks....
Can any one program the Radio version to make it possible, in my alcatel, in STK menu e see the SIM options and i can change between the 12 numbers, but in my Qtek 9090 i can´t see the STK options...
Qtek 9090
Rom Version: 1.40.00 WWE
Rom date: 03/10/05
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.42
ExtRom version: 1.40.147 WWE
Be CAREFUL
while inserting the dual sim "container".
Not only is the cintainer "fragile", the QTEK ALSO.
I bought a dual and, while trying to insert it, I broke one of the two "metal clamps" that hold it on the sides.
Happily I can still fit the dual sim inside and, by pushing the battery on it, it stands still... and works....
However: since then the QTEK does not "feel" the backup battery anymore.
on every reset I get the "low backup battery msg" and indeed if I look at the battery level in settings a nice 0% is shown.
Annoying but at least I did not broke it altogether.
So: be careful and if someone has some clue on how to repair let me know.
Ciao

King of Doublecard SIM adapter

How many people on here have the king of doublecard twin sim adapter off ebay and how are you getting on with them?
Does the battery still fit ok?
Mine arrived today & I fitted it in a matter of a couple of minutes - the battery still fits, the two SIMs lie flat no problem.
I've also splashed out on the WIVIT SIM Status switching software
I have the one where you have to cut the sims, working very well. Done quite a few for friends, cant go wrong. Try it, no need to pay for a switcher, it has an stk app that does that
king of doublecard working great for me.

can you explain further ...with pics would be nice
thanks
anyone got a link to this on ebay? cant find it anywhere!
I did a post somewhere on the board showing you ebay links and methods.
I've got one without the stk app, so you have to go to flight mode off, then on, to switch, but cutting the sim cards, although risky, can be done successfully, as I've done it with an O2 contract and orange PAYG.
V
did people actually slice up their SIMs ???
Hi guys go mine and it works atreat now , bought it from ebay
Not going to lie to you, the product is made from poor  quality but from £3. I get my money worth, and it does the job the ways i can switch are either by doing a soft rest or by puting the phone into flightmode and then back to normal phone mode, , iv addedsomepics for your benifit.
Guys, I've got a magician and I sliced and diced my cards fine.
Had troubles getting the Magician to register the sims, but that was because of it not providing enough pressure on the back of the SIM (stick some paper into the metal sleave to correct this).
This is the ebay link for the one I bought:
Look for "UNIVERSAL DUAL SIM **SHIPPED FROM THE UK**". I cost me about £3. The card is fine, the guy was ok, but shipping was steep from London (ie P&P is hiked up, but overall can't complain).
It works, but there is another one out with an "STK" menu built in to switch cards by going into the SimToolKit program. However, it's easy enough to go to flight mode and back quickly enough to switch. I read that this one drains battery faster. No comment on that. It worked for me.
So: SLICING DOES WORK. But, do it carefully. I've posted about 10 times on this - do it carefully, ensure you remove the transparent guide sticker after the cutting, and check it in a nokia or another phone before putting it in the Magician, to convince yourself you've done the slicing correctly
That ebay guy will also "stamp cut" the cards for you for free if you post them to him.
Good luck!
No, it's not possible to have two sims working simultaneously. Best we can hope for is 2 lines per sim, like Orange's Line2 service.
There are some cards that are 16in1 card copiers etc. these don't work in the UK, and will fubar your SIM when trying to crack the encryption. Be warned

There was a phone once, sometime in 2000 I think, it was a benefon dual band (1800/900) that worked in europe. That phone had two SIM slots. Too bad they did not make more

2sims working at once in a pda,, i know mate but let me keep on hoping lol
what about the data settings then?
sounds great, I am tempted to go for it, but do you have to re-enter the GPRS settings each time you switch from a sim card to another? Since say, O2 and orange don't use the same proxy servers to connect to the web via GPRS, I guess the right proxy details must be entered after each switch. Am I wrong? Can you connect to O2 mobile web using your o2 sim card, then switch to your orange sim and connect to orange world without making any change to the connections details?
Cheers
I think you will have to reenter the details each time.
However, if you're in the UK, there are cabs available on the board, or from Buymobilephones.net, with all the settings in one file.
So, switch to o2, click the cab and you're running. And likewise with Orange etc.
V
You can create all different accounts in the network section and just choose the right one you want to use. I have one SIM now, but several accounts for GPRS usage, MMS, dial-up connections etc. I just select the one I want to use in Settings-Connections-Advanced-Select Networks. The only problems that could exist are with sms and voice mail accounts, but I think these are stored in the network in combination with your sim card, so these should be ok as well.
that's great -thanks

I am seriously considering getting a king of double card for my SX66.
Can I still use the apps on my SIM (the ones accessed through "SIM Toolkit" or will I lose that ability once I use KODC ?

Did my Gnex fry my SIM?

Okay, I have been pretty vocal about the heat generated by the Gnex around the camera when it's under heavy load being "normal" and "nothing to worry about".
But...on Saturday morning my mobile service suddenly stopped working. No calls, no SMS in or out, no mobile data. Wifi was fine. I swapped my SIM card into my SGS to see if it worked there...no dice. Since everyone else in my house uses the same provider and their service was fine, it had to be the SIM.
I called my provider today, who told me that sometimes the SIM gets heat damage and stops working, and that he's "seen this before". Now I get to wait 5-10 business days for a new SIM to come in the post.
So, since the SIM is in the same area that gets hot on the Gnex, do you all think that the heat from the Gnex was the culprit, and can I expect this to happen every few months? Discuss amongst yourselves.
I use my phone pretty extensively on a daily basis and have yet to have this problem (Verizon GNexus), and have owned it since December 15th. Is it possible that the SIM cards your provider gives you are "cheap"? I don't think any plastic should have that much of a problem at 140 degrees F.
Mine's a GSM model. The SIM looks fine physically- when I used a different provider my SIM was cardboard, but this one is plastic, like a credit card...

Most are plastic nowadays, I've not had a cardboardy SIM for, I dunno, six years or more.

Don't think you can get non-plastic SIMs anymore...
Could have been the GNex, could have also just been the SIM dying for something else. SIMs go bad from time to time.
If it happens again, a co-worker of me had it with his iPhone.
Basically it was a hardware fault, putting too much Voltage on the SIM.
I highly doubt the temperatures could be high enough to fry a SIM to be honest...
My LTE Nexus has a cardboard SIM. I've had to replace it once due to dropped phone calls.

One V not recognizing any sim card, sim slot is dead?

Hey, I have my One v for about half a year now, and it worked perfectly with one sim, few weeks ago I changed to a different service provider, and the sim worked fine too.
Few days ago, I look at my phone and the bars just start to disappear, until it got to a state where I couldn't receive calls, SMS, surf the 3g web and so on. This morning (and yesterday's evening) I had bars fro few minutes, then it simply showed the name of the provider in the notification area, now there's just "no service". I tried swapping Sim's with my sister, which has the same phone - my sim worked on her phone, her sim didn't work on mine.
So my lucky guess is that the sim slot is dead, I wanted to know if there's any solution I should try before sending it to a store to find out wat is happen, or I should just do that and forget about it. Also, if the sim slot if dead, how much will it cost approximately to fix it?
Slot may not connect - maybe it's time to use "toilet paper solution" (as originally named for Nokia N900)? You should make piece of paper the same size as sim card and insert it with SIM card to slot to hold it with connectors and disallow separation. If not working experiment with paper with other thickness or size. Try this one and say about any changes.
And try with prepaid / old card
it may seem obvious, but have you already tried cleaning the sim slot by blowing all the dust out of it? that used to fix this sort of problems in my dumbphone.
Which nmforu
I owe my life to trees everywhere. Thank you dskowronski! it worked! tried doing what you told me, second time it worked - then I tried without the paper and voila!

Faulty SIM reader! Anyone else? Getting phone replaced

Got my 16GB Ice Nexus 5x today. Took my att nano sim out of my nexus 6 and put it in 5x. Phone said no sim detected. Tried about 20 more times taking it out putting back in, nothing. Tried my old tmobile sim, nothing. Went to att store got a brand new nano. Still nothing. Working on getting it replaced now. Wont detect anyyyyyy sim. ugggggg
Maybe you your 5x needs to be added to their database? Not sure but I had a similar issue with my N5 with Sprint when they first released and bought direct from Google
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
A friend posted that he needs to buy a new SIM for his 5X because the SIM from his N6 is the same size but electronically different. (His is a Project Fi SIM if that matters.)
I'm skeptical about that but it seems clear that you are also having an issue using the SIM from an N6. I'm wondering if the SIM from my N5 is going to work.
this made me cut my att sim a few minutes ago from my N5. The cutter worked fine. http://tinyurl.com/o39so98
tested in N5X and worked fine, H to LTE hand off was about the same as N5, I was worried about that, but it's all good.
I put it back into the N5. But I had to use the old surround from att sim instead of the adapter that comes with that cutter.
There's a small difference, and for sure you can definitely f this up if not careful.
My Ting/GSM (The carrier who must not be named is T-Mobile ) Sim worked without difficulty. It was die cut for the smaller size. I kept the part I popped it out of just in case.
It took a surprisingly long time to get on the network. I kept checking and it showed no phone number for what seemed like a long time. I started looking into the Ting web pages and started to run through the process of activating a phone, thinking I needed to do that. At that point when I went to the settings to get the IMEI I saw that it had the phone number and calling was working. It was probably over an hour.
i have this problem too actually. After trying maybe 10 times it worked, but it would keep saying no sim card, and it would IMMEDIATELY work on my MXPE. That being said, i probably need a new sim card. A coworkers SIM card worked without issue.
