Touch Pro 2 Upgrade ?? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Just thinking how good would be if we could get
possibility to change processor and memory in our
TP2? For example from HD2. That would be the coolest thing ever.

Why? Do you find your phone slow?

Yes while using manila 2.5 and playing videos H264 some of them.
I just saw few movies HD2 in action. So smooth using manila 2.5
You can see it here: http://vimeo.com/6970304
Everthing hi touch appears immediately. Tp2 needs bit more time.

Slingplayer performance on the touch HD?

This is the one of the first questions I want the answer to whenever a new windows mobile device comes out?
So has anyone tried it on the touch HD and how does it perform? What happens to the display when you try the full screen mode, how does it cope with the high resolution? Any screenshots would be particularly helpfull.
PS I know there is a update to the slingplayer planned especially for these high resolution devices but I want to know how the existing version behaves.

I have used slingplayer on HD and its very good. But , when you want to change channels u have to change the channels via , File , Menu System rather than the image on slingplayer.Looks like the remote control picture is not scaled properly as the HD is wvga device. But other than that, slingbox performance is very good.

thanks for the reply, does the full screen mode cover the full screen or not? is it possible u could post a screenshot in full screen mode.

Yes, the fullscreen mode, covers the full screen and its very nice. You can set the settings for high action under slingplayer settings and it runs really smooth and superb.

But the only problem , I am facing right now , is the remote control image where it shows up is not scaled properly for wvga screen. It works fine on diamond, but not for HD. Hope someone can find a fix where you can find a wvga fix for VGA apps.
here's a video of slingplayer in action on the touch HD, looks pretty impressive.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ejqCn-Hy4A0
Hi,
I've uploaded that video on youtube.
Slingplayer works quite good as you can see.
If you add channels (with logos) to your favorites, it's no problem to change channels. Works fine to me.

I've not seen it cover the full screen. Could you confirm again that you're getting full screen video? I have a Touch Diamond 2 and can't get it to cover and I called Sling and they said it's not possible. Is there a hack somewhere?
Thanks. it looks very promising.

NO. Can't see any more area than on a 2.8" screen. Was a big disappointment to me.

I get most of the screen filled in landscape mode. I only have the small 2-3mm black side bars that don't fill in. I am using the HD Pro slingbox. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. When you are no in landscape mode it is around 2.8" but otherwise it is pretty much fullscreen.
slingplayer on duttys r9 6.5
Hi It looks like the poster above has slingplayer mobile working on duttys 6.5 r9 rom? I try to install it and it says not a valid pocket pc app? any hints?
ignore that got it working...
Works fine on HD (I have the Sling Solo).
The upload rate at home is 800Mb/s.
The framerate on HD is jumpy sometimes. The picture quality is resonable. The images (including movies subtitles) are clear and readable.
In landscape mode, the image almost fills the screen, but not entierly.
I'm happy with that. Hope that a real 800x400 player version will surface up.
I have a Slingbox Pro and suffer from the fullscreen issue, I also think they should make the remote control etc. more finger friendly for windows mobile.
I have a couple of requests on the customer feedback forum
More Finger Friendly on WM
EPG / Now & Next Info for Freeview on Windows Mobile
Full Screen on Touch HD 800x640 (I know I got the resolution wrong but I can't change the title. lol)

So far It seems like its only been me voting so it would be great if other Slingbox users could get voting to help improve the Software for windows mobile and out Touch HD's.

I'll put my two cents in when I get a chance. I done some invite only beta work for sling before. Not that is going to make a difference but it might help. I gotta say that the video quality is better on the touch hd than the iphone. I swear the iphone was better before the update.

It doesnt now work with Hermes as Josh said! Its slow even in my kaiser, and its not practical to use to daily due to standby issues. I wont recommend using it unless you have raphael or phones like that!
To be frank, I dont think we will ever get a "full" D3D driver for the Hermes.
HTC is awful about drivers, its a real shame to.
I DID have the old TouchFlow 3D betas running, at 3fps, but running.
Its been some time since I had a Hermes, but, give me 2-4working days and ill try and see what I can find. (New phone gets here then!)

Touchflo 3d for Blackstone?

Hi there,
can anyone give me a link of where to download Touchflo 3d for Touch HD??
I've recently found a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470164 which compressed whole manila files to make the Touchflo 3d relatively smaller and faster to the original one, but this is for diamond only, I'm looking for something that suit for my touch hd, if anyone got what i'm looking for, please let know, many thanks!!
wrong post ?
dude, the Touch HD comes with Touchflo as standard, why on earth would you want to download it again ??
Also this is a the wrong part of the forum to post on !!, if you havent got it, then contact your phone provider

I believe lynne02191 is asking for a compressed/sleeker version of HD Manila (i.e., the images in Manila's qtc files are compressed) that runs more smoothly, etc. than the stock version, and this would be the right place to discuss this, IMHO.
I think with the inherent capabilities of the HD, as well as the wonderful cooked ROMs people are making, Manila runs very well, and there is plenty of extra memory on the HD with it running, so a compressed/sleeker version may not be a priority.
Just my opinion, but this might explain why no one is trying to do something similar to the thread you linked, which was done to make HD manila run smoothly on the Diamond. Then again, someone may already be doing this, I do not know.
You may want to look here ( see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=470798) and look into the compression process.

Hi sk806,
Thanks for reply!
I've already been searching for a while, and I didn't found any version that is manila compressed but several .cabs which claimed are ported from the original blackstone manila.
after that, I installed all of them, but the result disappointed me, since I've encounterred many problems from the procedures.
anyway, like what u said, there are plenty of nice ROMs around there which run HD manila very well, so I won't bothering meself from searching anymore

mach 5 web browser

superb alternet of skyfire,
for me skyfire was slow in comparison of mach 5 it use to take lots of time to start up and sometime it use to just not authorise to login
and in this mach 5 we can watch videos in full screen when videos are detected it plays it in full screen.
have a look guys
http://www.wmexperts.com/netacceler-...native-skyfire
Corrected link: http://www.wmexperts.com/netacceler-mach5-browser-decent-alternative-skyfire
It does look good, but I don't like that it's just a demo and they will charge (or plan to charge) for it when the demo expires
thanks for correcting link.
it seems they are charging for fuller version but believe man the lagging problem of skyfire and all those slow interval in pages when u zoom in and out. really i found not usefull at all when i used skyfire except self console of watch every type of videos.
but i have used it and will be using till june ofcourse coz its free and ya believe me its better interms of:
tab pages
smooth scroll
fast
doesnot take that long to open pages
it identifies video and enables us to zoom in
landscape view manually thats what i think is much more better den using skyfire and one additional rotation program.
i would appreciate opera browser with all those functions if its what i am understanding from forum about opera 9.7 but i am not sure..
any way
my opinion

I have been using their trial version for more than 3 months, it seems there is no expire date.
the new version is really fast, but still not fully support Java and active X as they claim in their offical site.
i guess trial version will end by next month according to there website
I registered on their website and they only have the QVGA and VGA cabs. Anyone have the WVGA version?

[Question] VGA to QVGA for more speed

Just a question, it is possible to develop a ROM that make Diamond work in QVGA mode? I know the diamond screen is natively a VGA (640x480) but if we could make diamond work in 320x240 resolution, there would be more memory and cpu available. A fair compromise IMO.
Is this possible?
what do you mean by by "if we could make diamond draw only half pixels"
running diamond with QVGA resolution???
if yes then look here

A I expected Sense 2.5 refuses to start in QVGA resolution using Virtual desktop. Anybody can tell me If there is someone who is actually developing a QVGA ROM for the diamond?
Thanks
i think this is a good idea, my brother has a qvga phone (HTC Polaris) with 54mb less ram and 128mhz slower processor speed but runs winmo 6.5.5 and touch flo really smoothely, but in someways i prefer the vga screen such as in opera and tomtom, it makes it much clearer

I don't understand why anyone would want to do this. The Diamond's screen is already small enough as it is!
If you use a lower resolution Manila, you can only see a quarter of the screen, I think. CaptainThrowback have tested HVGA Sense and all was smaller. So not so usable

he means that if we make the phone draw 240 x 320 pixels on the screen rather than 480 x 640
ie running the phone at a virtual QVGA resolution
full screen will be occupied but phone will draw less pixels and hence some processor power and ram will be saved at the cost of screen clarity.
I don't think this is possible, and even if it were, it will still be using the same amount of processing power and it would be ugly and pixellated because the image will have to be stretched to occupy the entire screen.
