why use windows mobile SDK, when you have all you need into real roms???

Hi ervius,
I look a rom in the style of Korand 3,1 (WM6.1 Clean, without modifications or customizations) and didn't find none... therefore I am trying to make a proper one... I obtained disassemble the archive "bin" that he consists in the Windows Mobile SDK... now lacks to know accurately what to modify in this.
I need a ROM standard, only with the essential (CommManager, Phone) and some utilitarian packages (PIM Backup, Hibernate, SQL Server, Adobe Reader, RAR) without modifications of themes, splash screens (Windows), etc. Therefore I decided to disassemble the image supplied in the SDK, that if approaches more to the one than necessary...
Any suggestions?

The FZLTH.ttf can read CHT
I use CHS and I have not CHT ROM or CHT OEM File.
You can add .net oem file to tommy's kitchen to cook.
BTW: If you can write and read Chinese(CHS or CHT), you can Private Messages to me.

Hi likeme, you've done an excellent job! Your rom is even faster and smoother than the May1 Tommy's rom, mainly, I think, is becasue you have a ramdisk. Where this ramdisk come from? Also after installation, I actually have more storage space left than Tommy's one for my hx2410, about 12.4MB. Again, Great job!

If you want more program ram, You can change this value to change Ramdisk size.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RAMDisk]
"Size"=dword:10 ;This value 10 is 16M,if you want 8M,change it to 8
I can not add more storage space, i don't understand. 64M ROM so small.
But ramdisk just speed up the Internet Explorer,other not obvious.
And i just Chinese localization othe oem file (such as power.exe, bt)。

I update the rom to 99.99% Chinese and true 19199 XIP.

Watchout! New version cannot revert back to other versions
After installing the new fuller Chinese version, it is not possible to change back to any other versions. My pda is now crippled by this rom. I think, it cannot be updated to any other future rom. Help! It always says "incorrect language" and does not allow further processing.

Your problem not this ROM's problem.
Take your pda to PreBL mode (hold contact+itask+power and then lightly press reset, after about two second unhold remaing buttons).
Run hpRUU.exe in my rar file to flashing ROM to other language.
Or flashing to English.
I can flashing my device to CHS/CHT/ENG version ROM.
Sorry likeme, my mistakes. I did not use the hpruu.exe included in your rar file instead I had used the older hpruu.exe that comes with the Advance Pack. Thanks likeme, you are great! Now I can play around different versions of WM6.1 in different languages! I like the Pocket Calc and the SRS HD included in your new version.

sorry i am if this is a stupid quesiton, but i am looking to upgrading my rom to able to read chinese. i certainly would not mind to have a full chinese system. However, I am knida new to this htc rom stuff, i have a herms htc 8525. Will most of the rom work for the htc system or do i have to find one that is specfifc stated for my system?

windows mobile only got the drivers it require and all of them
if one is missing it fail to boot
and if non ms programs like camera, mms and the like software is not included those
features are absent
windows mobile device manufactors use the program which ms only give them access too
to add the custom made drivers for their hardware along with the 3th party apps to use those features

I need to write an app to run on Windows CE .net 4.2. I would like to get platform builder for Windows CE .net 4.2, but it doesn't seem to be available on the microsoft site. Can someone help me find it?
It is not the .net that was 4.2, it was the version of CE. This appeared as WM 2003 and WM 2003 SE. The .NET compact framework for the machines was 1.0 or 1.1.
To test the app in an emulator use the standalone emulator. Now at version 3.0

To write .net 1.0 and 1.1 WM apps you will need VS2003 PRO.
VS 2005 and VS 2008 can be forced to create .net 1.0/1.1 executable images but it's a total pain in the ...., you have to hack the build files to get it to work.
For C++ Win32, AFC or MFC you can use the free version of EVC 4.0

For that you will require the CE 4.2 Platform Builder package. Microsoft pull superceded versions off their site, the current version is for CE 6.0
The evaluation version works fully for six months then you have to licence it.
Search in Google for "CE Platform Builder 4.2". Some non Microsoft sites may have a copy of it, but some of these sites could also be of a rather dubious nature. i.e warez peer-to peer file sharing etc.

wm 6.1 is lite and fast but the scroll (contacts, options...) is really bad.
Could anyone let me know if it is possible to make scroll as smooth as in wm 6.5?

what is the build / rom version you are using.
i m using my own build rom as in signature. and i must say compared to the roms i have tried from the forum, my scroll is so much smoother.
of coz i dont use sense 2.1 or 2.5 in my rom as the RAM is more important to me.

I tried 6.1 20764 (stock rom for europe, downloaded from htc's website). There is no scroll (scroll bar is not finger friendly)! I also want pure wm, not sense, and no break effect (if scroll never stops if you don't touch it again).
I have to use sys from 6.5 21899 (com2, because I like start button on top-left). Of course, scroll is smooth, but it uses much more resources (ROM, RAM) and performance is not as good as 6.1.

Thanks, actually, I've never used the scroll (the circle and the button). I always use the screen as main input method.
I am trying to find if possible to combine advantage of both 6.1 and 6.5
Would also like to know if there is someway to have a better scroll in 6.1
as the transition from 6.5.3 to 6.1 you can notice the difference
I prefer 6.1 for speed and space while still using Sense 2.5 for CHT
To have the scrolling as good as in 6.5 would make the ultimate ROM for the diamond

Do you know which part/package in SYSs is responsible for scrolling?
and what is HTC scroll package responsible for?
actually its package in OEM and mainly set in EXT\{Device}

I have changed only SYS packages from 6.1 (original, 20764) to 6.5 21899 and unchecked all EXTs (HTC scroll, framwork, touch...) but the scroll still works perfectly as normal in wm6.5
I think scroll must be in SYS packages. Google gives something like Physicengine.dll. I could not find this package in 6.1 (SYS/Shell), I cooked the one from 6.5 (21899) by simply copying and placing in SYS/Shell but no scroll effect was observed in the cooked ROM.
and which kitchen might you be using. maybe the scroll and framework packages have been duplicated there in SYS

I use OSkitchenZero http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948.
I imported a stock ROM (downloaded from HTC's site), sys 20764. In this kitchen, we have three categories:
- SYS: all window mobile packages
- OEM: device driver packages
- EXT: all extended packages (for apps such as camera, photos, sense...)
My test is like this:
1. exclude all "useless" SYS packages (indicated by the kitchen), exclude ALL EXTs (I saw HTC scroll, NO HTCframework) ==> the ROM works well, fast and stable, but NO scroll effect (of course, apps such as camera, album don't work)
2. based on the kitchen above, replace all SYS packages from 21899 (also exclude useless packages) ==> the ROM works well, stable, a bit less responsive, but scroll is smooth (everywhere, contacts, menus, ...)
3. I checked, there was no scroll, framework in SYSs (21899)
So, I concluded that the scroll must be in some packages in SYS
and how abt the OEM packages. diamond by default has the scroll included via the OEM packages and is independent of SYS build
SYS build is just the M$ side of Windows Mobile
Its OEM build / folder that includes all the drivers inclusive of scroll, g-sensor...etc...
so even if you remove EXT...scroll will still exist...

Nop, I did not touch OEMs (I think they are for drivers..., which belong to HTC devices). HTCscroll is in EXTs and is dis-selected.
