I installed cm9 after using cm7 and cant get the four buttons on the phone to light up. They are accessible but not illuminated. has anyone else encountered this problem.
Also I was wondering if the Cm7 uses more battery than cm9
You have to use auto brightness.
cm9 illumination
If you mean display auto brightness ok but when I'm outside I can't see the screen...guess ibhave to toggle back and forth. I had switched back to cm7. In your opinion is 9 worth changing to. It seems like in 7 everything is working pretty well.
Thank you for the reply

Toggling auto brightness on and off solves it. Just tinker with it..

Ive been using the dinc2 since last July and I got used to the buttons to the point that I noticed they didn't light up, but until I saw this post, I never considered it a "problem". Since I knew where they were and didn't need to see them to use them. If they ever do "fix" this issue I hope they allow for a settings option to keep them turned off. I actually enjoy them off, in my mind its just one more security feature. I know when my wife tries to use my phone she needs to see them, and since recently rooting to CM9 I don't want her bricking my phone. Because of the unlit buttons she has stopped using my phone (she uses some cheap AT&T phone, refuses to switch to Verizon). Just throwing my opinion in the mix. Thanks for the post as well I wasn't sure it was intentional or not.

I believe in the advanced brightness settings under CMSettings you can do just that. Whenever I run a CM rom, I always go to the brightness settings under edit Other Levels and set all the softkey values on the far right column to 255 so they're always the same brightness and look nice. I like the sheen they have, but I can only see it when they're close to full brightness.
If you did the opposite, set all the values to 0 and then click Save and Apply Values at the top of that screen, they should, theoretically, never turn on.
Thank you ....as I am new to a rooted phone and this forum I didn't know those adjustments were available...learn something new everyday ......
Does cm9 drain the battery alot quicker or is it unnoticeable

Unfortunately, I can't answer that question for you, as my phone doesn't like our ICS builds. Until we get a leaked official kernel and some source, I'm SOL.

Where exactly are these settings? Running CM7 with the same problem as the OP and can't find it anywhere. Edit: found the settings and putting them all at 255 didn't do anything. Any other ideas?
When i turn off auto-adjust screen tone and auto dimmer and have the brightness up full blast cause thats the way i like it when im in a dark room the screen still adjusts brightness and bounces back and forth between full brightness and a cooler tone. Its kinda aggravating just wondering if anyone has experienced this and is there another setting im missing. Power saving mode is off too

You may want to try the Lux app, which provides you control over display brightness beyond what's normally allowed by the device's own setting.

Lux is awesome https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vitocassisi.luxlite ...there's a paid and free version
Still does it even with the Lux app
Doing it a lot now , did a factory reset and about everything I could , thinking of returning it to tmobile
I don't know if this fixes it, but have you tried to turn off the adaptive display under the settings?
Yeah that was turned off too

It's gotta be software related , I wonder if a fresh flash from ODIN would fix it or if it's something Sammy Is gonna have to fix.
It's software I believe, does it happen when you have the browser open?

Don't matter what's open. My girl has an S3 and she said the S3 had an issue similar and it was tied to smart stay having trouble detecting your face and the screen would auto dim by default even if everything was turned off. I turned smart stay off and it still does it though
Have you tried turning off smart stay? Also make sure power save mode is not on with screen power saving checked.

Good day all,
I have a problem with my nexus 7 (2013)'s auto rotation .It suddenly stopped for no reason. is there a solution for this problem and if I put a custom Rom does it fix this thing??
Please Help
Thanks
Settings / accessibility /auto rotate screen is it checked?
Does it happen everywhere, even in apps? I would check the settings first and maybe try a cold-boot and then a reset on the device.

it does not work even in the games. it doesn't rotate unless an app designed for vertical or horizontal .
I did I factory reset and it didn't work. If you have something tell me what to do please.
Thank you

I had this problem as well a few days ago. What I did (which seemed to fix it) was I went in recovery and wiped my dalvic cache. 3 days since and only time will tell if this is a permanent solution.:fingers-crossed:
Yesterday I had also a rotation problem:
When I set autorotation to "off“, it always went to landscape mode, regardless in which position it was atm. It was absolutely not possible to lock the screen rotation in portrait mode.
After a reboot all was back to normal - strange though!

mine just got the same problem since yesterday! really need help
My rotation isn't working nor is the gyroscope. Started on stock UN rooted , then I rooted it and flashed kangabean and now the latest official CM build and it isn't working on any of those either. I'm thinking mine is hardware and not software related

We'll turns out that my other nexus 7 tab that I got for my mother is having the same issues with the accelerometer and gyroscope like I am. So I am going to be taking both back to bestbuy and either exchanging them or returning them.

I randomly realized my G4 wasn't rotating the screen anymore and I have since tried everything - factory resetting, calibrating the sensor (doesn't work) and even the banging phone on table method, none are successful.
This may indicate that it is a hardware issue but if I hold the phone landscape and open the camera the buttons do rotate, but if I rotate whilst already inside the app nothing changes so I'm not exactly sure what is going on. When I use the app CPU-Z to track the accelerometer value it stays static until I turn the screen off and move the phone a bit, when I turn it on the value changes again but stays still.
Any idea what the cause is??
does booting into safe mode make any difference (i know you said factory reset, but I'm curious).
Also, probably won't, but is there any difference whilst the phone is charging?
Throwing this out there. Did you debloat? On the Samsung models, if you uninstall the Hub app, rotation gets broken for some weird reason. I don't know what that would be on the G4, but maybe? Just a random guess.

I believe I did remove a few apps but since I factory reset and flashed a fresh image I believe they should be restored?

Not necessarily. I know a factory reset doesn't restore any previously removed apps, and flashing factory a fresh image depends on how it's flashed I've discovered. Only a CSC restores the phone to factory specs, while other methods didn't for me.

Safe mode didn't help, and I actually don't know which ones I removed but they looked pretty normal, how do I check or compare vs stock?

I think I recall seeing a debloat list somewhere. See if you can find it and compare what you've got. I'm not saying this is the problem, but it could be.

Yeah I found a few lists but they only have apps that are safe to remove and don't warn or mention possible ones that cause problems which I may have already removed

I had the exact problem a few weeks ago, thought my hardware was already flaking. Don't remember what I did to get it working, but it wasn't overly complex.. Rebooting didn't help, I think I pulled the battery, waited a bit, and then rebooted and then went to calibration from there.
Do you happen to have xposed installed by the way?

Hey thanks for your reply, I am trying now the battery pulling method, did you then calibrate through the sensor in display settings?
And yeah I do, hmm not sure if it stopped working after that actually.. but I remember after I flashed a fresh .kdz even without xposed it still doesn't work.

Yea would have been the calibration from the regular settings.
As for xposed, flashing a kdz will keep user data and settings.. It might have been gravitybox causing the issue for me, which if you uninstall that, reboot and reinstall it, might help. Same goes for any other modules you had enabled.

Oh yeah it did but I factory reset as well so... I never installed gravitybox since I heard there were some problems with it but I'll see if there are any modules causing issues.

Yeah I have I don't even know there are signs that point towards it being a hardware or a software issue tbh.
Problem happened to me too. Started yesterday, sometimes worked, sometimes stuck on portrait.
Shutting down and pulling the battery for a few seconds seems to do the trick. It works properly now..
Have you been used apps which could calibrate the accelerometer before?
etc. some games that needs to be controlled by rotating the phone on its axis..

Me? Not that I know. Some new apps yes, but still proper screen rotation.
This problem happened on my g4 today...
Stock ROM?
LG 4 not rotating??
quick fix which worked for me was just take the battery out, wait 30 seconds, put back in switch on and problem solved...
hope this helps guys.... regards Steve
Hey guys i know i own the gpad 2 8.0 lte but i saw other threads say post the question in here so here it goes.
Now on my tablet just bought it a couple weeks ago and ill have the screen brightness set to 40% then randomly when i go to use it ill notice its at 100% brightness. Today i set it to 40% brightness and restarted the tablet and then it showed back at 100%. I then set to 40% again and restarted and it again changed to 100% brightness.
So my question is anyone with this tablet have same issue and or anyone have any idea what the problem would be?
Just a software bug or something? I really dont want to ship this back to get another one but if its hardware then i will.
Thanks in advance .
I don't have your device but you could try Lux Lite in the Play Store.
Just be aware that apps that implement screen filters, as Lux does, can sometimes interfere with installing / updating apps, as in you might start having trouble clicking OK to confirm manually installing an app or updating am Xposed module. Usually a reboot will fix that for a while.

Thanks i tried this however didnt help. I contacted lg support and first was told to uncheck auto brightness i informed him there is no auto brightness on this tablet so he put me on hold came back and told me that its a common issue with the tablet and a new firmware is being worked on and it will solve the issue but he didn't know when or how long it was going to take to be released.
Not sure what to think but hopefully he is correct and that its sooner then later.
