Well, When I get a msg or two in the same time, my phone does not stop playing the msg tone, its crazy, if I receive a msg I dont read it inmediatly and I get another one, my phone plays the same two in different time and It does not stop even if I read the msg right away..
Do you understand?

Here how to:

Hope it helped,
Mine did the same thing, the solution...turn it on silent and vibrate. I never did find a fix for it. You must be running kavana 6.1.

If useing an .mp3 for message tone then you will have to edit it as WM devices play the whole tone on message...
How do I do that stylez???

With an Audio Editor a good free one Audacity so what you want to do is cut the sound down to a more reasonable time
Thanks... ah, I forgot to say that I kept repeting the tone many times, for me to stop that I had to turn the phone off...
It is probably due to Notifications from the AutoKeylock program that is installed by default.
Go to
Start-> All Programs -> Tools -> Auto Keylock
and uncheck Notifications.
This is basically a way to remind you repeatedly of any missed calls/messages/etc. If you like the idea of being notified, you can press the right soft-key for Options, and select Notifiications to configure them as you want.
Hope this helps

I couldn't find anyone else complaining about this which surprised me.
I have tried all ROM's so I assume this is a WM6 issues but in WM5 with my 8525 when using the vibrate function whether it be for phone calls or new emails etc it would be a nice long constant vibrate.
Now with WM6 the vibrate function is a wimpy ass short 3 vibrate pulses. I mean I carry my phone right on my belt and I can barely feel it go off sometimes.
Is there a way to change this in anyway?
It vibrates AND sucks and you Complain ??
(sorry, couldn't resist....)
HAHA
but its my phone not my girl
Man I can't believe I'm the only one that this bothers and I can't find anyway to change it :-(

LOL! 10/10
Finally usable vibrate, the wm5 constant vibrate was so loud and hard that it was impossible to hear ring tone beneath it
WM5 used to sound like a cow mooing if on a wooden desk.

Now that's funny
Anyway, to try and give a possible solution (cos I don't always just complain about people posting repeat questions ) I remember reading something about ring \ vibrate patterns ages ago...
If you look in the blue angel wiki reg hacks page (here) there is a section about a third of the way down about phone settings and there's quite a bit there.
I've not tried it but it seems likely to be the fix
Good luck!
Yes but that is for just the standard ringtone because I already tried it. That hack doesn't do anything to the vibrate function for new email notification..
So my search continues but thanks..

I love the three short bursts... just enough to tell me theres a message but not too much to make my trousers look like there's a ferret in there trying to escape (like in WM5)!

Honestly I thought the same thing at first but I have noticed recently that I am missing them because its just not strong enough..Heck if I could up the amount of times to like 6 maybe that might help also..
Ok so to change the vibrate function during a phone call ring its
Phone Ringtone Script [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
Change the value of "Script"
Here's the code:
a - stands for display
r - repeat/replay the script again
c - sets the volume C50, c150, c100
f - means flash .. f1 flash for 1 second and f0 stands for flash continuously
p -means play ringtone
v- vibrate then incorporate te]with number to state how many seconds it will vibrate example. v3 vibrate for 3seconds or v0 for continous
w - stands for wait or pause then specify how many seconds like w3(wait for 3 seconds)
Click to collapse
So I figure with any luck I could find a registry setting for the vibrate on new email notification. The best I could find is under
HKEY CURRENT USER/CONTROLPANEL/NOTIFICATIONS
the ones at the top reprsent all of what you have for settings under sound notifications which I want but under the new email one theres no value called script.
Anyone else who is a bit more familiar with registry settings give me any ideas or anything?
thanks

I agree I could not stand the wm5 vibrate, I am constantly using im+ and that constant vibrate would freeze the device when I would receive simultaneous messages.
my phone is still vibrate like WM5, long and non-stop.
WM5 was too much, I definitely prefer WM6 vibrate, but think something halfway between would be better.
It seems to me that not only is it not continuous but it doesn't vibrate as hard, thoguht hat might be because the motor takes too long to get up to full speed, so the 3 bursts don't get it running flat out?
Definitely an opportunity for someone to put together a little application to make it easy to customise.
Has anyone been able to find where this is in the registry? I have reverted back to wm5 and would like to change it to the wm6 3 pulse vibrate rather then the continuous.
Has anyone figured this out yet?
The long continuous one of wm5 was really annoying (esp. when phone is sat on the desk) but at least I didn't miss calls / not see texts/emails arrive.
I would prefer something inbetween. Perhaps 2x 1 sec bursts.
I don't have WM6 yet, but have been reading these threads before I do apply it -- and THIS is why.
good thing you reported back nahgum. I agree it's long and annoying, but at least if ur in a position that you can't glance at your phone, you know whether someone called or txted.
For those saying WM5 is long -- it would be great to find a way to do something like 2 1 2 for phone and 3 3 3 3 3 for txt. MrDSL is on the right track, just gotta find the key -- then someone could probably whip a little gui to make it nice and smooth.
I have WM6 (Black Satin) and it still has the long long vibration, which is quite annoying.
Any idea how to change to the 3 short pulses mentioned in this thread?
The registry tweak is quite limited (cannot have pulsing vibrations while playing ringtone).
Thanks!
You guys should look into a program called "Phone Alarm". It allows you to change the vibration feature to your heart's content.
Hi,
I'm trying to change my "Silent" profile to be completely silent. Turning off all ringers / changing to vibrate works except for the call initiation sound (the beep you hear when dialing a contact). How can I turn this off? Thanks in advance!
Specs: Flashed Dash to Excalibur / WM5
The 'beep' file is windows/callstart.wav if you would like to get rid of it. But I've never really cared to do anything about it.
*edit* won't let me delete it. probably need to replace it with a wilent second or so
*edit again* yep, you can replace it. if you did the silent startup/shutdown edit than just copy T-Mobile start up and rename it to Callstart
you can also use a registry editor to change this. look throught the other threads concerning that topic for more information.
"he 'beep' file is windows/callstart.wav if you would like to get rid of it. But I've never really cared to do anything about it.

^^^
where is this file located and how do i edit it to rid my self of the annoying. i rather not toy with the registry.

then use a program like total commander to replace it with a silent 'track' like the one used in silent startup/shutdown
Make this change to your registry:
Shut Off the Beep that Occurs When You Initiate a Call
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall2
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
possible error

This is incorrect, at least on my phone (WM6).
Here's what I had to do to mine:
Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change String/Value InitVol to 0
i noticed, that my windows applications are silent with the silent profile. but some applications do sounds anyway.
can i avoid that?
need default sound for in call2
Can someone telll me how to get the default sound back for incall2? I deleted it when I was trying to get rid of the sound made when a call is initiated using the incorrect instructions previously posted. The one below works for me but I still need the other sound back. I believe it is related to the busy signal.

Thanks for that, I hate that beep and the setting for WM5 didn't work.
DELETE. Wrong spot. Thanks!
Hey everyone, sorry to dig this up, but I tried this registry edit shown above, and every time I turn my phone off, and back on, it comes back. Any way to permanently get this registry edit to stick? Thanks a ton! HATE THE BEEP! I have WM6... Thanks!

i don't know about wm6 but wm6.1 usually you can go to start/setting/sounds/ and scroll around to what sounds you don't want and turn them off.
also use the search forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480671 i came up with this and there's two or three posts about this. same kind of questions just three different posts.
I'm referring to the call initiation beep. It's a registry deal. Not a keypad thing. I dont care about numbers beeping, but every time you call someone, it beeps, regardless of what the volume or profile is set to. Please read the previous posts in this thread to understand a bit better.
Then change it....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\CallStart
Change Value InitVol to 0
Right, Like I said, I've done that. It's the fact that when I have to soft reset my phone, IE turn it off for something like a meeting, and then I turn it back on, the beep comes back. Is this something I have to do every time I turn the phone off? Like I said in my original post, I've made that registry edit. But I want it to be permanent.
Edited an old cab to remove the version limits. It now works on Wm6.
Install and then dial a number from the standard phone dial pad to test! You should feel a short vibrate when you tap a number button letting you know that it's been tapped.
Add it to your CAB file collection.
Cheerio

What exactly does this do, with Phone Pad? Sounds interesting
It vibrates shortly each time, you press number in dial pad... or I guess, coz it did not work on my TyTN
but mayby is problem with some SPB products, because I have lot of them installed in my TyTN... e.g. phone suite, which can manipulate automatically with sound, vibration and light according to profile settings...
YUP! When you go to the dial screen and tap a number a small vibrate lets you know that a button has been pressed.
I'm also using bunches of SPB programs, but I still get the Vibrate from the standard dial screen.

It works on my Hermes but you have to long-press the key. Press for at least a half second to get the vibrate motor spinning.
Also, be sure to set either "short" or "long" tones in the phone options. It won't do anything if set to "none."
Hey thanks for converting to WM6 I had been missing it for awhile now!
Any chance this will work in WM5? Please and thanks.
Yeah this is soooooooooooo useful tip man, thanks a lot !!^^
Uninstall Issues...
I liked the idea, just didn't like the fact that you have to push the button for so long to get hte vibrate to react, just a fraction longer and it turns into a speed dial. So let's talk about the uninstall....
I unstalled the app, everything went normal. Now I have no keypadd tones at all.
hshortt, can you provide a fix or provide the registry keys that this install/uninstall modified?
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed on my own...
Works with the HTC Touch / Vouge. Just had to do a soft reset twice. For some reason after the first time, the touch screen stopped responding.
I'd like to know what you did to get your keyapd tones back, this program sucks!!!

guys i have tried the solution in the above link, it didnt work out.
if i exported the registry files from a non screwd device, and exported to my mine... will it work out?
This program is not very effective, cause when I tap out a phone number naturally I tap it quickly, and you have to hold for at least 300ms (I reckon) for it to even do a little vibrate.
it somehow needs to be much more sensitive, lower ms or something. Maybe its a limitation of the whole vibrate mechanism in the phone anyway.
Oh well.
Lost All Sounds
after installing i lost all sound output from my back speaker
no music, no ringtones, nothing
it only made my phone pad vibrate but screwed up all other sound output
tried to uninstall & still no fix
also hard reset & gflashing ROM again didnt fix
did it screw up my device completely !!!!!!!!!!
any fix please???
Vibrate dial pad
Thank you ! This is just what I was looking for
Sorry.Didn't find how to delete message
Hi pretty neat program, until I found a better one TouchResponse... This one allows you to even select the vibration time, and it vibrates on every tap on your touch screen. Well the problem is I un-installed Phone Pad Vibrate and now the the sound is gone when I press a phone number. The link for the fix isn't working, so how do I fix it so I can get the sound back???
Did the link for removal instructions get moved/removed for this?
The link from above is still broken. Anyone have instructions on how to remove this app?
could someone upload it on rapidshare, because i canĀ“t load it, thank you
Well i was looking through the settings and looking for aa way to make it vibrate when i reeaceive an email does anyone know how to set it up. Im on Kavanas rom
If you go into Settings > Sounds, you should be able to set up an audible alert, and I may be wrong, but I think you might need to set an audible alert for the vibrate function to work. Anyway, after that, go to the profile you're using (I'm assuming it's "Vibrate") and click menu, then edit. There should be a setting for email alerts...just set it to vibrate and save.
This is what the method is in the Rose roms, and to the best of my recollection what it was in Ricky's v24 remake of Kavana, so if it doesn't work, I'd wait for someone with that rom.
is there any way to fix the notifications so when i get a message the tone will stop when i press a key instead of playing the whole tone? i like setting custom tones but i hate how they dont stop when i press a key. they always have to play through completely.
Do you need to have a tone that is so long that it bothers you?
if your using a mp3 as a text tone i recommend you edit that sucker down to size, audacity is a free program that works great for that
A simple search would have found u the answer.... Edit the tone....
HTC Audio Manger 2.0 works fine for editing too.
It only edits to the seconds, but it doesn't really bother me.
so there is no way at all to fix it to stop when you open the message like other phones do?

The command to play the sound is not initiated until message transaction is completed. The end key will silence the sound and not affect the message. I have done this by accident a few times, but I do agree, shorten the sound file.
