What do I need to do to use T-Mobile's Touch Pro with my ATT Sim Card
1) Unlock the Radio, that's the only way.
2) It should work out of the box as long as you don't need 3G frequencies.
3) Not sure because we don't have the phone yet.
You need to unlock it for it to work, there are 2 ways to do that, one way is to get the unlock code for your tmobile touch pro 2. One way, is to get it from T-mobile directly, or to buy the unlock code from someone online like on ebay once people start selling unlock codes. The last method is wait for someone to make a program that can unlock your touch pro 2 through software. Keep in mind that even if you unlock it 3g will not work and that [email protected] will probably get its own version of the touch pro 2 that does support [email protected]'s 3G later
I concur. You need to unlock the T-mobile Wing II first and then you can have it on AT&T. This however won't give you 3G on AT&T USA however since the frequency is unsupported by the T-mobile version. You will need to purchase the T737X unit to have AT&T 3G. Wow, HTC should just make 2 versions really: International CDMA & GSM and a GSM all 3G version since it's easier.
Hey guys... here is a simple questions but I need your help.
Id like to buy from a friend a HTC touch pro2 with WM6.5 on it.. originally bought from Telus...
I am on Rogers...
When I put my SIM card in it... it says... SIM card isnt valid... Please insert a valid SIM Card.
Is there anything I need to do to fully unlocked this phone?
I tought that since Mighty Rom is running on it... it was fullly unlocked... but it doesnt seems to work..
Any help will be appreciated!
Regards,
Jeff
You need to get your phone sim unlocked to allow it to work on a different network. Telus can provide it or there are aftermarket ones you can use. Olinex has a sim unlocking service. You can find info on the first post of his HardSpl sticky in the rom section.
Once you have it sim unlocked it will work on Rogers but you will not get any 3g coverage as that phone has the wrong frequencies for the Rogers network.
.... 3g + with telus either
Hey InRBigness
thanks for your quick reply.
This phone isnt getting the 3g+ from telus either... I bought it before they launched the 3g+ network. So I guess its not a big difference right ?
thanks for your help and point of view about this
regards,
Hello! Im thinking about purchasing a HTC TP2 Sprint version - UNLOCKED. The only problem is I live in Romania, and my question is that if the phone is SPRINT version, but unlocked, will I still be able to use all the radio tehnologies on my local carriers.
For example : Will I still be able to use mobile internet over EDGE/3G/HDSPA ? or since the phone is Sprint, it will connect only to Sprint EDGE/3G/HDSPA ?
The only 'flaw' I've found so far in unlocked phones, is that they can't be used on the carrier they've been unlocked from.
I plan to use the PHONE with a SIM CARD, since it's unlocked. Will I be able to use the 3G tehnology ? for internet and other hi-tech stuff ?
Also, will the FM radio work ?
Thanks in advance!
Is there anything I can do to make my T-Mobile Touch Pro2 usable on Verizon's network?
Root it? Unlock it? Anything?
No, the T-Mobile Touch Pro2 is exclusively GSM, and Verizon's network utilizes CDMA technology. You would need to buy a Verizon Touch Pro2 from Verizon to use Verizon's network.
LOL.
AT&T, T-Mobile = GSM
Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular = CDMA
You CANNOT use a GSM phone on a CDMA network and vice versa.
AT&T to T-Mobile??
Hello,
I just upgraded to HTC Evo and moved to Sprint couple of days ago. I am trying to sell my Touch Pro2 to my friend who has a T-Mobile.
My TP2 is currently running the EneryROM, so I am wondering what I could do to get this phone run on T-Mobile.
We inserted his SIM-Card but unfortunately the phone asked for a code because the network is blocked.
I think I can download the T-Mobile's official ROM for TP2, would that work by itself?
Any suggestions?
Thank you
niM

nope... wont work.. you cant just install a rom on the phone and have it work on another network... The phones themselves have to be compatible.. like was said up there.. gsm phones run on gsm networks.. cdma on cdma... now that said.. arent the touch pro 2's with verizon and sprint world phones so will run on both gsm and cdma?? Although I'm fairly certain even if it is possible to get it to work on the network you want you definatly wont get 3G....
You're better off just selling your phone to someone ON your network... craigslist or ebay can be your best friend... and he's better off buying one made for his network.
Just my two cents!

First of all, don't try to flash the T-Mobile ROM onto your Sprint Rhodium, since that's a great way to brick your device (the ROM is for a GSM device, flashing that to a CDMA/GSM device will brick it). Sprint allows the use of SIM cards for any carriers except US ones, so what you need to do is Security Unlock your Sprint TP2, then flash this special modified radio that will allow for the use of SIM cards from US carriers. Only then can you use your Sprint TP2 on T-Mobile US.
EDIT: Disregard this entire post, I misread it and this probably doesn't apply to the actual situation. My bad...

AFAIK, the TP2s on Verizon are World Phones, but I really doubt that you could go and use a Verizon TP2 on a GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mo. I would assume Verizon would lock the feature to do that, and that the GSM antenna is more then likely an underpowered or unable to really take advantage of GSM networks (3G/HSDPA, Edge, etc). I think they are only set on on Verizons end to do basic voice and basic features.

Apparently no one is READING your post. You want to take an AT&T Tilt2 and run it on T-Mobile. It will work with the following restrictions:
1. Your phone is network locked to AT&T. You have to either call AT&T and get an unlock code, or buy a code off ebay or one of the forums here. That way the phone will work on a different carrier network.
2. Having unlocked your phone, with a T-Mobile SIM card it will work - but only on the slower Edge speed, NOT 3G. AT&T uses a different 3G technology than T-Mobile.
I would suggest selling it as an AT&T locked phone on ebay.

Thanks Steve
Everyone,
I apologize for the confusion.. I re-read my post and I didn't mention that my Touch Pro 2 is an AT&T phone. (I was an AT&T customer and moved to Sprint). Sorry about that guys..
But thank you everyone especially stevedabi for reading between the lines.. LOL.. He won't buy it but my other co-worker is very interested. Need to sell this thing so I can offset my termination fee from AT&T. haha.

Why not just transfer the entire contract to him WITH the phone.. Then you don't have to pay a cancellation fee... Can they do that here? I know of a few people that did it up in Canada but have never heard of anyone in the states doing it. I'm sure it's got to be possible down here.

Hi,
I ordered a phone on eBay (refurbished Touch Pro2) unlocked (originally from Sprint). This is the phone : cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170495455167 (new user, can't post full links ...)
I would like to know, is it a GSM or a CDMA phone? It says I just need to put in a SIM card and it will be ready, is that true or it must be specific carriers?
Thanks!
Sam

GSM = Sim Card
CDMA = No Sim Card
The Sprint Rhodium is a CDMA/GSM worldphone. It primarily operates on a CDMA network such as Sprint's, but is GSM capable for operation in areas where CDMA network service isn't available, like overseas. So long as the Sprint Touch Pro2 you've bought is properly unlocked depending on where you plan to use the device (there is a special unlocking procedure needed in order to use US carriers' SIMs in the Sprint Touch Pro2), you can use any SIM card from any GSM carrier in that device.
Just remember if you are going to use a Sprint phone on AT&T the best data connection you are going to get is 1X.
Thanks for the replies!
I don't know if it's been unlocked properly, but I won't use it with a US carrier, since I'm in Canada. I guess it should be fine?
Thanks!
Sam
