Hi everyone, I need help!
I bought a new HTC magic from ebay, all the guy did was open it and add the hero ROM, but it is running really slowly.
I tried to use the overclocking widget but it didn't work as it says it needs a rooted phone.
How can the phone have the hero rom n it without being rooted?!
Also, how can I now increase the speed etc and stop it reloading the homepage everytime I press home (30 seconds odd!).
It's a Google branded Vodafone.
Welcome to forums
Perhaps try to disable some of the today UI´s
or reinstall another ROM
Have a deep read in the Wiki:

Thanks Orb.
Sorry but i'm a complete noob!
Do you know why it appears its not rooted even though its using the hero rom?!
Just looking at the system info it says...
Model number: HTC Hero
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband version: 62.50s.20.17h_2.22.19.261
Kernal version: [email protected] )
Build number: 1.76.405.6 146733 cl#47214 release-keys
Software version: 1.0.0.a6288
Ok, I've managed to install the drivers for vista but I still can't access the phone through the pc (not even the windows mobile program), any ideas?
Also, my phone IS rooted.
When I download a ROM, the wiki guide says run the .exe but they don't have executable files!
Confused!

Is this an update? My Hero came shipped with this rom..
Can this be used to replace the Orange UK shipped ROM? It seems to be a slightly later build if I am reading the numbers correctly.
Thank you very much for uploading!

Would also like to know this as this does look like a later build than my Orange version.
Well it seems so *.405 vs *.63, but I cannot get it to update. Custom ID fail or something
Nice to see HTC have a sense of humor with "flash fail!" hehehe...
anyone got any ideas?

Did you already rooted the device? If no do it and try again.
Well i gave it a go on my rooted Orange phone, but also got the same error message as qpop.
As the message states "Please get the correct ROM utility I'm assuming there's either:
a)country restrictions
b)Operator restriction al la blackberrys "vendor.xml" file
c)due to rooted phone.
Hi, I pulled this image apart. The versions of the components it contains are:
Radio: 63.18.55.06_6.35.04.25
HBOOT: 1.76.0004_090703
kernel: 2.6.27-a5504199 [email protected] #521
system: 1.76.405.6 146733 CL#47214
build number: 1.76.405.6 146733 CL#47214 release-keys
Radio/HBOOT/kernel are the same as on my phone, but the system in this image is much newer.
So, thanks loads! Can't wait to see what has changed in the system image....
Surely one of you clever people can help us circumvent the error we're getting?
Another Android noob!!
Hi All
Im an Android convert!!... after being with Symbian for 7 years... I have finally seen the light...
Sorry to ask but can anyone point me to directions on how to install this ROM.
I have a UK T-Mobile unlocked and Rooted.
Thanks
Well, I extracted the update zip from the firmware image by running the exe, and looking at the files it extracted in c:\windows\temp (or wherever your OS has it). One of them was called "rom.zip" and is a standard signed firmware update zip (zip with 256 bytes signature header at the start).
So renaming rom.zip to update.zip and running it via adb will perform the update?

How does It differ to a normal 2.73 Rom?

No it isn't - the 2.73 is the build number, the rest just indicates operator and region.

Hi, whats the radio version in this ROM?
Thanks
Interesting that this update arrives at the same time t-mobile are rolling out Android 1.6 OTA to USA G1 owners ...
Could this update be Sense UI on top of Android 1.6?
Its not, its a 1.5 system
I can confirm issues with flashrec.
Installing custom recovery from adb shell is not working either..

as i suspected it might, sounds like it ships a kernel that fixes the one-click-root hole, and it replaces the recovery rom image.
Anyone know how to extract the rom images from that windows executable?
i want to mess about a bit and install only parts of it from linux.
Searching the forums the closest i can find is a suggestion of using winrar, but i had someone try that on their windows box and it doesnt work.
or as a fall back, does anyone know if someones managed to do a nandroid backup of a freshly upgraded g2. (after rooting it the hard way presumably)
Paul @ Modaco twittered that he'd root and repack the T-Mobile UK update on Thursday (i.e. tomorrow).
Regards,
Dave
I have extracted the Rom Images
Run the RUU then leave it running
then Start-> Run -> %TEMP%
then look through the folders untill you find one with adb in (search) this has a rom.zip file.
So the radio rom is 63.18.55.06FU_6.35.07.08.
But isn't this version supposed to freeze T-Mobile UK HSDPA?!

'supposed' is an odd word to use.
I don't know how many people have reported the freezing on HSDPA, however I have not had any.
I only installed the new radio earlier today, but I'm not having eny problems with HSDPA, I even downloaded a 200mb file and whatched the whole process just to see if it hung.
It didnt.
I do not know for sure whether the signal is better, but it's definately not worse.
I'll post again tomorrow when I've tested out the signal and internet a bit more.
hi, when i try to flash this rom i've got this message "erreur 131: erreur client id"????
somebody can help me???
thank you guys;-)
i think that means it is not meant for your device...do you have a t-mobile branded uk hero?

If you've already applied the T-Mobile UK update via the RUU, you're probably out of luck, as it seems it replaces your recovery image with one that can't currently be replaced.

Dave
So, I bought it about 2 weeks but since I went on a vacation I didn't bothered to mess around much with it, but now that I'm back my friend directed me to this forum and I'm pretty excited with all the possibilities. the problem is that's a bit overwhelming, I don't know where to start, I started reading, and following the instructions, on this topic but came to a stop after the 3rd step since I have no idea what ROM the stock version uses:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893291
I'm just gonna dump some of the info that I found out on the settings page of the phone, hopefully that will help:
System Version: Blur_Version 6.14.5.MB525.AmericaMovil.en.BR
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1

Where do I get the 2.34 ROM ? I see it mentioned everywhere but there's no guide to get, and install, it.
Ok, dumb me, now I noticed the info on the right with the 2.34.1
Just another question, what is that version number related to ? Is that the Android version ?
Hi there,
I have a Motorola Defy on Vodafone UK, that has just had the Vodafone Froyo update. I have tried to find an answer to my question, but no joy.
I would like to get rid of the Vodafone software and use the UK retail version, as then my phone would work as advertised. Unfortunately I get confused by all the different software identifiers on my phone, and wondered if someone would be kind enough to explain what bits could/should be updated.
When I look at Settings/About Phone I see the following
System Version: Details removed to allow posting
Firmware version: 2.2.2
Baseband Version: EPU93_U_00.59.02
Kernel Version: Details removed to allow posting
BPflex version: UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA03A.0R
APflex version: GAS_EMEA_USAJRDNFRYOVFGB_P021
I had to remove the software file identifiers to be able to post this, but the phone has just had the latest Vodafone Froyo update applied. Hopefully someone will still be able to help by explaining what the titles mean.
I have successfully rooted my phone with SuperOneClick, but am just trying to get a bit more more understanding before I do anything stupid. I quite like the idea of CM7, but think that may be a bit advanced for me, so will perhaps stick with the UK retail Motorola Froyo once I am sure I know what I'm doing.
Thanks
As you have rooted it yet you could delete app with titanium backup from the market.
I can say i have installed custom roms on my defy a few days after i got it, just follow the faq and how to post and you won't damage anything.
Btw, if something goes wrong you'll find help on this forum anyway...
Hello XDA forum!
I've been researching my topic for some time now and I noticed alot of vague information and the only usefull info seemed to be specific to each model... So, I have a Desire HD and my carrier is telus.
1. Is my phone branded or not? (There's not a bunch of telus apps or wallpapers, there is just one telus scene. Also it says HTC on the back where you would expect it to say telus)
2. Can you downgrade the Telus HTC Desire HD running 2.3.3 Gingerbread at this time? If so what tools would you use?
The reason I am doing this is because everything seems to be very vague information that, like stated above, seems to be specific to each post. However all the posts that I've read don't describe the methods used to identify key information or how to troubleshoot what to do if a step doesn't work (ex. Getting $ instead of #)
If someone could post back on this it would aid me greatly. I aim to downgrade, root, and flash Android Revolution HD and possibly a new radio to improve battery life and signal strength (which is non-existent in my basement)
My phone info is...
Android version:
2.3.3
HTC Sense version:
2.1
Baseband version:
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel version:

Thanks in advance!
PS. Any additional information you require from me don't hesitate to ask!
Now running Android Revolution HD!!
Ok so I found some key factors in this that I'd like to point out to anyone looking into rooting and flashing a custom rom.
First Downgrade
Settings > About Phone > Software Information > "Build number"
That is what you're looking at when searching for a downgrade. 1.32.405.6 is what you want to be at.
The downgrade guide I used is here.
Remember if your build number is above 2 you'll need to use section 2b and skip 2a
Make sure you download the attached folder at the bottom of the first post and the stock 1.32 ROM (link in section 1)
After this point I had a stock phone with 2.2 Froyo build number 1.32.405.6. My speakers did not work (no sound at all) and I could not connect to the mobile network which alarmed me at first thinking that Telus wouldn't like me hacking my phone or something x3
Second Root
Telus Desire HD - Rooting and Flashing
This was the first guide I tried to follow and it would have worked if it had simply added in that extra file and the commands:
Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell
./data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF
Anyways I downloaded the files for this one (the light version since I had previously downloaded the PD98IMG.zip) and skipped to step B.b
I did the temproot successfully but the easy radio tool wouldn't work for me so I just used Visionary+ to permroot and Then I got the superuser request on my phone and the radio finished rapidly.
Went very smoothly after that.
Third Flashing!
Finally the time came when I was ready to flash my shiny new ROM. I read through step C of the above mentioned guide but decided to go through with the proccess mentioned in [ROM] Android Revolution HD™ 6.1.3 since it was more of a do it yourself thing and I like starting clean (it wants you to run superwipe from cwm before flashing the new rom)
I would recommend using a card reader rather than mounting as a disk drive cause it's more reliable.
Hope this helps someone!
Not sure if this has been said or not but:
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-htc-desire-hd/
It's as easy as "download, run" and it works brilliantly!
I suggest you just boot a Ubuntu Live CD (it's not as bad as it sounds, I actually liked it the first time I tried it and now I have it installed by my Windows) and just run the command:
wget http://droid.neolobster.com/roms/aahk-25102011.zip && unzip aahk-25102011.zip && sudo ./hack-ace.sh
Click to collapse
in terminal, press "1" and be afk for 5 mins.
Doesn't erase your data, doesn't format your phone, doesn't downgrade your Android OS. It...it just works!
Good luck with it

Yeep! It sure does work I tried it and flashed the android revolution hd rom. Brilliant thanks a lot! Only thing is the sound seems a little different. It is much louder but also has this tinny effect at times. I will patch the cm7 audiofix and see how it goes.
