It might suck if you have a lot of stuff installed but, I would suggest to make sure you copy anything you might need to your pc, and make sure you have all your contacts saved to your sim , and your pictures are saved in your sd card, and do a hard reset.

yeah man I tryed hard reset nothing seems to work, I wish someone could help me!

Flash stock ROM they can be found in sticky & report back with if sorted if not you may have a hardware issue.

Yeah man I reflashed back to a stock ROM still didn't work. So I flashed another stock rom (an earlier version) still no success. Is there some kind of earpiece driver ha.

Sorry i have to laugh @ earpiece driver "just sounds funny" i'd go with you have a hardware problem, i have no idea what, if your on a contract flash back to stock and try and get a replacement, if not may be worth finding a HTC repair center in your area, not sure on cost so may be cheaper just to buy a new Excalibur on ebay.

It's not a big deal I was just wondering if there was a simple fix I guess not. Thanks to everyone who contributed though. I'll just scoop a new one up when I get a job ha

Very weird, this just happened to me today also. All calls are automatically on speaker phone, turning speaker phone on and off during the call shows like it is working, but does nothing. I am also using Kavana 6.1

Weird, it has to be an issue with ROMS because my phone has been doing so ever since Ookba's 3VO WM6.5 ROM. I installed Kavana and my earliece worked then I reflashed due to a hardware issue and now my speaker phone is permanently stuck on. It's not really a big deal it just sucks for privacy.

I'd defo say has nothing to do with ROMs with 1000's on 1000's of people flashing and a small amount of people with issue generally user error, i'd put it down to hardware and since a flash only sits in nand and is rewriten on a flash the error would not be there after a re-flash bit like the peeps having wi-fi driver not loaded too.
From personal experience i've flashed every ROM here including working on a ROM release easily over 500 flashes and never had an issue touch wood

No, just the simple solution in the posts above...Plug your usb and voila

I tried plugging in the USB cable, wiggling it around, using active sync, and even poking a toothpick around the charger hole. Hmm... unless there's something else I'm not doing right. I'm using the most recent 3VO ROM. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

[PROBLEM SOLVED] MAJOR HEADPHONE JACK PROBLEM (Please help!)

UPDATE
I have flashed back to the STOCK ROM, plugged in my wired headphones and it doesn't present that problem anymore.
I guess it was the rooting method that caused that error to happen
--------------------
I've went through all of the threads that have headphones jack problems, but none of them seemed to match mine.
Every time I plug in my wired headphones and try to select a music player, the program will freeze for about 15 seconds, then it'll start responding again. About 2 seconds after it responds, the headset icon appears and I am able to listen to music. I haven't experienced any random fast forwarding, skipping, pausing, etc.
The ONLY problem AS OF NOW is that the phone freezes or when I select ANY music player when either its the default player, doubletwist, btunes, mixzing (when home) it DOES NOT respond until about 15 seconds, then shows the headset jack icon. Why doesn't it automatically show the headset icon once plugged in? & Why does the phone freeze? Can anyone help me with this problem?
I haven't tried connecting my phone to the auxilary in my car yet, but if there are any problems with that, I will post it.
PS: I've FULLY ROOTED my phone using this method -- http://bit.ly/b36V9j with NO CUSTOM ROMS INSTALLED. Root ONLY.
reflash to stock and try it
I feel like if I reflash to stock and that doesn't solve the problem, it would've been a waste of time. But, if you don't mind, can you point me in the direction of the stock rom please?
HTC Evo ROMs
it might be good, actually - if the problem still occurs then you can return/exchange the device. if the problem does not occur, then you know what the problem was.

This fix is somewhat different than your issue because it involves skipping, etc. However if you don't have success with different headphones and after a factory reset, I would say review this link: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/98880-fixed-microphone-jack-problem.html

No, the phone is naked. I'll be getting home shortly. I will flash back to stock and see if this corrects the problem.
ive had this problem as well, on the rom you get after using simple root. I just upgraded to froyo today (dual booting) and have not had the issue..
PS. froyo is a thousand times faster
If you still have the issue after flashing back to stock, try some headphones or a cable for your aux in that has gold ends. I've had nothing but problems with every cable I've used that didn't have gold ends.. but my new cable I bought for $7 that does have gold ends has worked perfectly.

I just read that the cameras do not work. I don't think I can flash to that ROM. I want a ROM that is blazing fast, has excellent battery life, has cameras working and apps with no problems.
Bumped for update.

Speakerphone works, but normal mic+speakers broken :\

Good Morning,
Unfortunately my HTC Touch Pro2 has stopped working properly.
Everything works fine except microphone and speaker when I answer a call (or call someone). I can still communicate via speakerphone, but that's rather inconvenient.
Is there anyway I can fix my phone?
(it's out of warranty)
Thanks for all suggestions,
Alec Taylor
Isn't this the answer to your problems?

Thanks JackOS (I use your ROMs BTW), but that didn't fix the problem...
The other caller/call-receiver can hear me, but I can't hear them.
Please tell me what I can do to fix the problem (I tried the .cab, and when that didn't work, I tried the manual Phone->Advanced setting change)
Thanks,
Alec Taylor
If you use my roms there is no need for the fix I provided.
Looks like you have a hardware failure. There is nothing I can do about it.
Did you ever find a fix? My phone started having this issue yesterday.

If it's a hardware issue, there isn't much to be done software-wise... as Jackos clearly states.

[Q] [SOLVED] Galaxy Nexus speakerphone mode

I dropped my phones while skiing and some snow must have got in because now, when making or receiving calls, I can not hear the other side and they can't hear me unless I use speakerphone.
No media sounds play any more, however the phone notifications and alarm still work. I understand that perhaps the media speaker has broken but why is the microphone still working only in speakerphone mode?
Is there an independent microphone/speaker set for speakerphone?
There is nothing else wrong with the phone.
[EDIT] Another side effect is that the Google voice search was not working.
Install this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.seb.audiotoggle
I think it will actually solve your problem. It did for me when the exact same problems started to bother me today after skiing as well!
You need to start it at every boot as it don't stick between reboots. Consider using a startup manager.
The problem seems to be a mix of hardware and software in the headphone jack, but I have not examined it much yet.
Thanks for the reply. The app you suggest should be very useful and I will download it anyway. However, this to say that the phone had fixed itself this morning.
I put the phone on charge overnight, and this morning, it asked for my sim unlock code, which I thought was very strange! But I entered the code that I had received from my network provider and now everything is working as it should.
It was probably something do with the remaining water inside the phone or possibly the cold temperatures.
Good to know! Maybe my phone fixes itself during the night as well
Still working?
Has the issue remained fixed for you? I ask because I have the same thing - the symptoms are that I can't hear anyone and they can't hear me, all media sounds are off, and the phone can't hear me.
I ran Tasker to monitor things, and the phone keeps thinking I plugged in headphones (with a mic), so that explains all the behavior. Running the headphone toggle app works temporarily - sometimes only a few seconds.
After doing a factory reset, sound would still come and go. With my Nandroid backup back on, same thing. I want to return it, and so I put everything back to stock, and noticed that now the bootloader is locked again, the issue is gone (for now).
I just wanted to keep the discussion going because I can't even tell if it's hardware related or not, and other people probably have this problem, and it takes some snooping to realize it's the headphone connector (vs sound settings, speaker issues, etc.). It could be a short (my guess) but now that it's working today I can't return it as the tech would probably claim nothing's wrong. I also already used up the one return my stupid carrier allows, so I'd rather fix it myself if it's software-related, instead of sending it out for repair.
I still have this problem, even after cleaning the headphone plug. My guess is that this is a hardware problem affecting only a few. It makes the phone pretty much useless, as you can't hear the other part talking, so I made myself a software fix that resets the sound routing the the default speaker on every boot and incoming and outgoing call. I guess I can share the apk-file if anyone is interested.
Give it a try: ----
Can release source if you are interested, but I am currently in a car getting ready for a ski weekend
I am also having this problem with my Galaxy Nexus. I would be interested in seeing the source, if you are still up for releasing it.

Thanks for releasing this! It works great!
I was going out of my mind trying to figure out what was going on. I was unlocked, rooted in stock 4.02 when this started to happen. I thought it was bad signal quality because i only noticed it when I stopped being able to make calls and use voice dialer. I only listen to music with a headset, so never even noticed that it wasn't working with the speaker til I tried to play a youtube video.
I actually upgraded to stock 4.04 with new FA2 radios and thought I had cured it, only to have it happen again. When I read this I tried resetting all my notification sounds (Handcent, et al) hoping somewhere there was a conflict, but still couldn't find it. I'm using NOVA launcher - wonder if there's something in there?
Anyhow, I gave up since your audiojack.apk works great! Someday when I have time I'll go back to troubleshooting to see where the problem is coming from.
Thanks again!
Works temporarily

This worked, but the OS will eventually think the headphone is plugged in again and I have to press the "Force Speaker phone" button again. I wonder if there is an event that is fired every time the OS thinks the headphones were plugged in? If so, that event can be captured and code could look to see if the headphones are turned off by the user and ignore the event.

If you want the same routing fix as audiojack but have it done automatically in a service try this.
There is an issue with a lot of Galaxy Nexus where the OS thinks the headphone is being plugged in and unplugged on its own. Try this free application to resolve it:

Worked for me on Verizon GN. Verizon already has a replacement on the way... guess I should've done more extensive searching for a fix first!
Spoke too soon. Seems as though the screen doesn't shut off while I am on a call. Guess I'll give the replacement a try after all.

[Q] One X calling audio issue

Hi guys, i have just encountered this problem, it was fine in the morning but gone wrong later then. The calling audio is not working and also the no sound from callers when answer the call. However Everything works fine, The in-call vol is max, songs can be played, calling using speaker on is viable as well as when headset is put on. The normal call is just not working even though it is factory reset
Mind to figure out what problem is this? thanks!

Same here. Any ideas yet??
Hi everyone!
I took some time this weekend to look into this problem again. I tried different roms, including different ICS and JB and even went back to stock (nand backup from first day). No success, still no sound from the front speaker when calling.
While flashing i tried both with sim card in the phone and without, i always did full wipe and flashed boot.img from fastboot. Still not working. No app that needs this speaker works, i also tried skype and talk. So i am out of options now. Is there anything i can do? Would it help to flash a different kernel?
I guess the hardware got broken somewhere along the line. Would HTC fix it under warrenty? Does anyone have experiences with that?
Thanks again for all your kind help! I know this might be cross posting but im going to try and get my problem solved in other threads as well.
Regards heintosz..

I had the same issue and got it fixed at the HTC service center. I also had wifi fixed and changed my LCD since there were yellow spots on my screen. Since the phone was under warranty everything was done for free.
Ok thanks, i will try HTC sercive center nearby. Though im on unlocked, rooted device so im not sure how they will react... will report!

Epic4g SPH-D700 Mic issues

I have seen that others have had this issue and not found a solution as to how they fixed it.
I just bought this phone from ebay and it was working fine then one day I was using Voxer and the mic wasnt working. I tried talking on the phone to a friend and they could not hear me as well. If I reboot the phone the mic works again. Others have said there are 2 mics in the phone and one is malfunctioning at times. Has anyone had this problem? If so how did you repair it?
I have tied installing CM10 (JellyBean) and it seems to work but I didnt test very long to make sure. Jellybean seemed to have issued with the screen and I couldnt install google apps with Clockworkmod and had to install manually. I ended up flashin back to the Normal Sprint 2.3.6 ROM (My Wife like it better). The problem is still there though. Any Help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

the mic appears to be directly soldered from pics I have seen. I am not sure if it is a surface mount solder or not. The mic works after restarting the phone.
**EDIT** Looks like I was wrong on that. I must have been looking at some other phone. I found this break down of the phone here: h ttp://ww w.youtube.c om/watch?v=g6npRaFm0d4 looks pretty straight forward. I may tear it all down then put it back to gether and see if that corrects it. Thank you
