I can't find a way to import favorites into Opera from IE. Every version I've used of Opera allows this, so I am suspecting I am simply getting a case of the dummies and missing it.
Could someone enlighten me? It's Monday morning and the caffeine hasn't fully kicked in.
...bump...
Use Opera desktop to do the import and transfer the bookmark file to the phone.

Hi I was thinking of switching from Omnia to TP2 and use Opera Mini all the time due to its speed. Had anyone tested it on the TP2, wondering if the different screen res makes it differcult to read due to size or should it be better.
I just installed it in JBlend. The legibility is OK, although the default font size is a little small. The main problem is that opening or closing the keyboard requires you to restart JBlend, which is a royal pain in the neck as I often want to switch between landscape and portrait mode when I'm browsing.
This problem seems to exist with all JBlend apps.
Install JBed, works like a champ. Will thoroughly recommend it. Much better than JBlend.
On Jbed what is the font size like?
Are there no problems with keyboard as described with jblend?
I just installed the latest JBed and OperaMini now loads fine. The font is pretty small, but readable (by me, at least).
Does anyone know how to create a direct menu shortcut to a specific JBed application (e.g. OperaMini, GoogleMail, etc)? (i.e. without having to launch Jbed then select the app you want to launch). I'd also like to assign a different icon to each application, so that I can tell them apart purely from the icon.
Sorry for the obvious question: JBed? JBlend?
Are these some sort of Java runtimes that one must install on a WinMo device?
There's no Java ME edition in WinMO 6.1 by default?
I don't get why you wouldn't just use opera mobile which comes with it
Because until Opera Mobile 9.7 with Turbo ships, mini opera is several times faster with proper settings.
For the past 3 years I've used almost nothing but Opera Mini myself, instead of the full fledged browsers available (I have bought Opera Mobile as well and a Webkit browser).
It's just so much faster due to Turbo caching and fits my needs.
I suspect many others are in the same boat.
Good site for Java MIDlet info

Thanks for the link.
So....following the instructions for jbed...I created a text file on the PC containing only the following line:
"\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_"
(with the quotes included). I copied this file to the TP2 and renamed it "OperaMini.lnk". When I run the renamed file it doesn't know how to handle it - I get the "Open with..." dialog.
Can anyone advise what I'm doing wrong??
itm,
I believe what you need to do, is create the shortcut file on your TP2 using a file explorer other than the stock WM one (at least on my Uni, it is not capable of creating shortcuts). I think you can either use the inbuilt function of the file explorer (i.e. paste shortcut or something like that) or create a file and change the file extension to .lnk (as you have done) Once the new shortcut file is created, you need to access the "properties" box of that file and in the box where it says something like "go to" or "link" you will need to paste "\windows\jbed.exe -run s0_" (with the quotes). You then save the change and should hopefully be ready to roll...
Appologies for the vague explanation, but left my Uni at home today, so can't physically go through the process on an actual WM device atm.
If you're still stuck after reading this, PM me and I'll try and walk you through once I'm home.

When I go to "bookmarks" on the Internet tab, I only see about half of my Opera bookmarks / folders. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a fix?
there is a limit to the amount of bookmarks that can be shown on the internet tab (I think the limit is 5). So if your bookmarks exceed that number, only the first 5 are shown on the internet tab. Maybe there is a registry key that can change that.
I think the original poster is referring to the screen when you press the left soft-key "Bookmarks" on the Internet Tab. I experience the same problem. Unfortunately, my only work-around is to simply not access that screen.
OK, sorry for my mistake. If that what he is referring to, thenits important to know which version of opera he/she uses. With opera 9.5 on my TP2, I do not have that problem.
It is Opera 9.5 ... the version that comes pre-installed on the Sprint Touch Pro2. However, my bookmarks were copied over to the device from another phone that was running Opera 9.7 (I copied them over by moving the opera6.adr file from the old device to the new one), which may be the source of the problem. They do show up fine within Opera though ...

I once thought that was my problem as well when I copied the opera6 file over from my Diamond. But it's not. I created the bookmarks manually with my TP2 and it worked fine for a while. But after a couple days, they started disappearing again. I somehow think it's related to the little image icon that Opera saves for each bookmark (eg, the "Y!" icon for a Yahoo bookmark).
Did anyone find a solution for this?
Okay so I downloaded Opera 10 for windows mobile phone. Save the .cab file to my memory card. Ran the .cab file and saved the program to my phone (Tilt2). I was giving the choice to set it as my default browser and I clicked yes. After it downloaded I was asked if I wanted to open Opera, I said no because I like to do a soft reset after I download and install programs. So after my phone came back up I went to my internet tab and brought up my NEW BROWSER. Things was looking great but I noticed the zoom feature on my Tilt didn't work with my new browser and noticed that when I tapped the menu button nothing happened. Well the screen kinda greys a bit like it's thinking but nothing happens. I was disappointed, the website had me excited to download Opera 10 for mobile. I removed the program from my phone using the remove program program. Now here is my problem:
1. IE has become my default browser
2. How do I get Opera 9 back as my default browser?
I went into "windows" and found some many Opera icons that I don't know which one was which. I do think I found the right icon, I believe it is the one that has the Opera icon and next to it, it says "Opera 9". I clicked on it and it took me to my home page that I have/had saved so I know that is the right icon. I just need to know how to set it BACK as my default browser.
Can someone please help me out? I'm so
UPDATE: The icon is not Opera 9, it's the Opera icon and next to it, it says Opera Browser. Hope this helps someone out that can help

It would have been easier to answer the question and then also give the link for further information. I mean you took the time and all to respond; how hard would it have been to say "No currently there is no way to enable the zoom bar, but this thread is worth watching regarding that and many other pieces of information" Instead of a blanket "look at this thread with one bazillion posts and maybe you will find your answer before a new version of opera is released"?
Just like the title says: I would like to set my wifes tp2 up to use opera 9.7 as the default browser. The snag i run into is setting it as the default on the internet tab on tf3d.
There are several ways to set the tf3d internet tab to use 9.5 and it handles it well: bookmarks and search from tf3d tab all are opera 9.5 intigrated. but as i said I would like to set hers to 9.7. Please please no comments on "just flash the rom". we dont want to go that route because after months of searching and experimenting with my own tp2, ever rom I have tried has either had a shlew of dibilitating bugs, or if they were perfectly operational they ate up 70% of the available ram after a few hours of use.
Yes I did search, and there doesnt seem to be any info on this. I even read through a lil over a hundred posts on the opera thread; nothing.
bizzump....
Not sure on 9.7, but when I installed 10, there was an option at the end of the install that asked if you wanted Opera to be the default browser. I said yes to that and everything is working fine.
I had tried a number of things prior to that to manually make the browser the default for everything, but nothing seemed to get it all. Maybe try re-installing Opera?
you should be able to its in the registry, you just need to put in the path to the .exe file for the opera u want as default.
Download latest Opera 9.7.35964 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5928300&postcount=1709
Install Caliban Opera Browser 9.70.35964.cab to the main memory, not storage card.
As with others here it did so automatically for me.
right I understand that it becomes the default. the problem is that I also want my bookmarks to continu to be added to the internet tab like I could with 9.5. when I tweaked 9.5 to be the default I was also able to tell tf3d that when I add a new bookmark, to display it on the internet tab. just installing 9.7 will use my previously existing bookmarks i set in 9.5 but will not allow me to create new ones that will transfer over to the internet tab.
Anyone?
For those of you who installed the 9.7 various cabs, how did you make your bookmarks appear in the internet tab?
Internet tab using this folder for the bookmarks: \windows\Opera9\opera6.adr
Opera 9.7 using different folder for the bookmarks: \windows\Opera9\profile\opera6.adr
Temp. solution:
Enable Opera 9.7 to using \windows\Opera9\profile\ folder
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Info]
"UseOperaBookmark"=dword:00000001
In Opera 9.7 edit/add new bookmarks then copy \windows\Opera9\profile\opera6.adr file to \windows\Opera9\ folder.
I made fix for Opera 9.7 bookmarks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6099429
wow thank you. I will try this out this weekend and let you know . again thank you
It would be great if someone knows of a way or a hack or perhaps I'm doing it wrong, but I want to be able to click a shortcut on my homescreen (say from within Wisbar), and for that to link to a bookmark in Resco File Explorer and for that to load up in Opera, but when i test it by opening a saved page and opera loads up, it says Invalid URL and gives the link address as http://\Program Files\Opera 10...... ETC.
Does anyone know if a registry tweak or hack to make opera be able to load up saved pages or preferably bookmarks from resco explorer?
Please let me know! Thanks!
