I am hoping one of you bright lights on here can help me with this problem I've been having.
I have a HTC Diamond US 3G version. I purchased it unlocked, and recently flashed over the stock 1.93 ROM to one of the EnergyROM series. I had the usual problem of repeating hard resets because I didn't do a mtty.
So now I've done the mtty, and flashed with a stock 2.03 ROM and done a bunch of tweaking and reflashing. I'm currently using the Gen Y D2 R2 rev Y ROM. One problem that I haven't gotten to go away is that my 3G radio no longer works.
I can use my phone just fine (including data) when its set to GSM network mode, and automatic band selection. But when I change the network type to Auto, or WCDMA, i drop my cellular connection and nothing works. This has been going on for a month, I've gone through many different radios and ROMs and settings. I've gotten Rogers (my provider in Canada) to reset my network profile multiple times.
I would greatly appreciate any help that someone on here could give as I'd love to get back my 3G/HSPA capabilities!
shameless bump
You probably tried this but just in case you overlooked it.. Did you select 3G from your comm manager? There's a switch that you can toggle to switch between 3G on and off.
Have you tried other Radios?
Hi,
Some ROMS work better with different RADIO versions... You can either check witch radio is best for your current ROM or try one of the latest Diamond Radios in the following list:
showthread.php?t=470306
I'm using v1.09.25.23 and it works fine with my current ROM (netDrg 2.8) and had no problem with EnergyROM!
Hope this help!
Thanks for the help.
Yes when i turn on 3G, either on 'auto' mode or on WCDMA mode my phone gets dropped from the network.
Also I have tried many different RADIOs, and two ROMs now.

Some ROM can work out-of-the-box, other one you must try the combo of radio and rilphone. In your case you can search after rilphone and try Raphael rilphone or Blackstone. Raphael is better compatible with Diamond. Btw. I assume you already know your radio must support GSM850 (better use the one radio supported quad-band, you can always try the base radio first 1.00.25.05!)

Sadly I've tried alot of this as well
I have tried these radios;
1.00.25.05
1.00.25.06
1.14.25.05
1.00.25.08
1.09.25.23 (current)
I have also tried to use the Rogers rilphone.dll with my current radio, installed via Captain_Throwback's cab (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=465419)
Should I be trying additional rilphones.dll?
Is it possibe that I broke my 3G by flashing a ROM? If I go back to my original stock ROM will i get it back?
sadly nobody has any other ideas?

Try to rollback.. Reflash original ROM and keep your current radio. If 3G works then it's because of the other ROM you flashed. If it doesnt work after flashing original ROM, flash original radio. If it still doesnt work (hopefully it will) I think something would be wrong with your hardware then.
Maybe the ROM has hardset the WCDMA freq., like I do in mine.
Try changing this to AUTO in Settings --> Phone
OR Try flashing a radio, and afterwards install the corresponding rilphone.dll

I am running NRG Rose Rom v1.6 - Remade by Ricky and Stylez, but im not sure is the problem happened before the upgrade as well. It connects to the network but then randomly disconnects and then searches again, to reconnect. I's an unlocked phone I bought from ebay if that helps.
I was doing more testing with the phone, it has really bad reception it gets one bar where other phone have full reception. Is there a setting I have to enable, to boots reception. Is seems weird because I'm in an area with good reception. Any Advice, could there be a problem with the ROM i used or the phone.

A good test would be revert to your original ROM check reception, then you will get an idea if the problem is the phone? I have to say i don't think it is a ROM issue as you are the first person to mention reception problem, but could have been a bad flash?
how do you revert to the oroginal ROM.

You will want the Official ROM. Turn off your phone hold in the camera key and plug in your usb cable, you will see a tri coloured bootloader screen, now click on the .exe of the ROM you have and follow the instructions.
On the link you gave me the file is a nbh. I downloaded the files required to use the nbh file, the question i have is if I upgrade back to 1.22.531.6 (T-Mobile USA, WM6) ROM will the phone remained SIM unlocked.

I'm sure that your sim unlock will stay, with regards to the .nbh there is a link under the official ROMs called files needed to ugrade or downgrade "with only the .nbh file" you will need that the instructions are inside.
I flashed it with the original ROM and it still has bad receptions. On some unlocked phone thiere is a setting to change what frequency the phone will run on, since the Dash is a quad-band phone is thier a option to change it. If its not this than it has to be a hardware promblem.
Hi, I recently flashed leedroid v2.3d and the radio provided. Still, I am unable to connect to mobile internet (I disabled wifi, which works normally).
I am using the GSM version and my operator is Starhub, Singapore. I have no 3g problems when using other ROMs. Does anyone have any idea on why this is not working for me?
Could be the rom itself. Go ask the dev team or ask in the actual rom thread.

Change the Radio. The radio you installed with that rom might be messing with your radio capabilities and you should try and find a reliable/stable radio release and flash that before installing your ROMs

I used the radio provided in the Leedroid post. Is there any other radio that I should use instead?
32.54.00.32U_5.14.05.17 <-- This is the radio version I am using.
Make sure your APN is setup for your service provider.

Weird, my APN is empty. I tried restoring to default but it is still empty. How do I add APNs? There are soo many fields.
EDIT: NVM, I solved it through google. Thanks!
Ok I have a Verizon HTC Touch Pro 2. I've done the HSPL but now no radio will work at all. I've tried each one. After it hit 99% there's a pause then 100% and an error 244 notice. As an added bonus, the phone will not get past the initial Touch Pro 2 screen when I power it on. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Ok I just flashed a ROM so I'll see wat happens with this first
You can only use radios for your CDMA Worldphone device. I suggest the newest Verizon radio here:

Don't flash a GSM Radio or you'll brick it if you haven't already.

This ^^. If you have a CDMA device, you must be careful that you only flash CDMA approved stuff. This site is more GSM focused, so be careful!!!!
Thanks alot. The Radio flashed without any error.
A couple of days back I rooted my wildfire and installed CM7. Everything worked like a charm except for a GPS.
I managed to find the Radio.img version ending in 19.25 which is needed to make GPS work and flashed it over fastboot after installing the Android SDK on my linux machine.
It works and locks to the gps. I'm now going to test it out extensively in the wild and go on a hike. (I'll come back later with the results).
Now my question is: Why would I want to update it to 20.10? Any benefits?
(By the way, bluetooth works as well).
In case it is suggested to upgrade my radio... how would I have to do it?
Would I have to reflash with fastboot or should I first download "Test GPS", clear and upgrade the AGPS data and then reflash radio 20.10?
Thank you!
some radios have network advantages over others IE a radio that gives me great network connection may not give you the same result

Thank you. It seems that everything works perfectly with the current radio. I see thus no reason to change it and won't change it unless otherwise advised.

i am new to this forum , so i could not post my problem in supernova forum, my problem is related to the supernova rom, the built in radio is not good, it has bugs. it cant detect cellular networks, neither 3g nor 2g, fake signal bars are shown. i checked for different network operators. so i thought to update the radio. the latest radio i got 5.17.5.23, but while flushing this rom, it said amendify scripting is depreciated, so i needed to use amendify to edify tool to sign the radio zip. after signing the radio, when flushing for the second time, it said, tmp/radio.img no such file or directory. what should i do now? my phone is no more worthy for cellualr connectivity. :crying: help me.
i recommend to flash radios using fastboot, much safer. extract the radio.img from the zip and check the md5 sum before flashing it, as a bad radio flash can cause a brick.
follow guide to setup and use fastboot. best to read the whole thing.
