Hi
Anyone knows if there is an Amon's RAv1.2.x for Hero?
Or RAv1.2.1 for 32A/B is compatible with Hero?
Thanks.
I plan to build a version for Hero, i've chatted to the developer about it already.
P
Could someone please test this one and tell me if it boots?
I don't have a hero, so I kind of did this blindly...
Just do :
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-RA-HERO-v1.0.0.img
Thanks!

Can you stick it up on RS again and I'll get you a dump of the boot up?
Shouldn't be too hard to get it to boot.
As for memory offsets, if you mean the boot.img layout, it is the same yes. Iomem is different though I think.

New upload.
Hmm, it just panics and reboots. Couldn't get into it at all.
Gonna unpack it and have a look.
arghhhhhhhhhh, wrong thread
mods, delete please
Looking at the init.rc it seems you don't actually start the recovery binary, it might be that it boots fine and just goes on to boot the phone.
adb gives nothing out anyway.
yes the kernel boots fine (if i haven't swapped by mistake the kernel, 2.6.27-8dd6deee)
the problem is the "packing" of the recovery image
on hero the base is: 0x19200000
so you need to add --base 0x19200000 when you run "mkbootimg"
also you have to fix the recovery binary to check for the right event for hero "trackball press event".
the keycode is: 191

Thanks for the info!
I'm still using my own compiled mkbootimg using the brute force hacked offsets that we found for the 32A Magic (see here).
I'll compile a new mkbootimg and start using the --base option
I'll try to make a new build with the keycode changes etc and put it up for testing asap.
Changed the trackball keycode (BTN_MOUSE) to 191, and used base=0x19200000 when making the bootimg, I hope it will boot now
Could someone please try this image?
Thanks

Thanks for testing guys!
I changed the kernel this time... could you please try this one?
Still no go, I'm afraid - blanks the screen for a moment, then boots into the normal OS.
Same outcome here I'm afraid.

Yep you need to flash a new rom because as far as I know thats the only way it can be changed since its written at the same time as the ROM. Tom's B&Bv3 has just changed mine from the o2 default to the HTC logo, ask him how he did it but I'm pretty sure you need a new ROM with the logo of your choice embedded.
PS: Don't think you can do the log seperately either but I'm sure a more knowledgable person will be along shortly

Totally not going for me.. just upgraded to wm6 and the new activesync... maybe that's the reason?
There was a way I heard of using the RUU and replacing a file with the new image you wanted for splash...
"Perhaps you should look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12898.
There is a great program on there for converting pictures to .nb files and also a CAB which, when run, will change the boot images.
This does require putting the splash1.nb and splash2.nb files into the /windows/ directory before running MDA3_bootimage_changer2.CAB,
but if you want to just run a CAB file you can just edit that CAB and place your own created splash1.nb and splash2.nb files
in it with the location set as /windows/ (I tried it with WinCE CAB Manager and this way works as well)."

It does depend on the rom, B&B v1 & 2 didn't update my boot screen but v3 did so maybe you've got an old version? Are you actually using the B&B rom at all? Not all rom updates change the boot screen, it depends on the chef if they include em in the first place

B&B? Did i miss something?
Tried two ways:
1: making the splash1 and splash2
2: tried RUU updating the splash, but fails, think it's the new activesync.
Did i mention that i'm trying this on a htc p3300?
Sorry, B&B is Black & Blue. Its the ROM that Tom Codon has been releasing and updating for the P3300\Artemis\Orbit.

WOOT, Finally, i got things running
How i did it:
search the forum for: "3-splash-screens.txt"
do step 2 (might run it in a dos box, to see errors)
search the forum for: "dutty's good NBH tool v1.1"
make the nbh file
flash it into the phone
Dudes Guys
ZRAYS give you the link on post 14.
Just download the right file depending on the logo you want.
Weblink : http://www.aray.cn/?cat=34
zip files are:
P800-logo-dopod.rar
P800-logo-HTC.rar
P800-logo-HTC-new.rar
P800-logo-O2.rar
P800-logo-Orange.rar
P800-logo-T-Mobile.rar
Shall I install it for you then...
Unzip the file go on folder etc... (backup your data, but this upgrade does destroy it) launch ROMUpdateUtility.exe
..wait and smile.
Annoyed with the volume bug on your Galaxy Nexus? Well, i'm very proud to present the forthcoming official fixed boot image which resolves this problem. In order to flash this boot image, you need your bootloader to be unlocked at this time (use './fastboot-windows oem unlock' (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in the download). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device.
APPLY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! This is still in a testing phase internally. Although it works great for us, well, you never know.
Volume Bug Fix r3 - DOWNLOAD - MD5: 292ba3630f475b2f779a19057649200a
How to use - Windows, Linux and OSX
- Download the zip file above and extract to a directory
- Put your device in bootloader mode - Turn off the phone then turn on with the 'volume up' and 'volume down' buttons both pressed to enter the bootloader (as pictured below)
- WINDOWS - double click 'install-windows.bat'
- MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-mac.sh' followed by './install-mac.sh'
- LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-linux.sh' followed by './install-linux.sh'
Please don't rehost this zip file - if you want to link to the fix, please link to this topic. That's all I ask. Enjoy!
P
Thanks a lot for your effort!
Does OEM unlock touch my guarantee?
Thanks Paul, I get the phone tomorrow morning & thanks to you we already have our hands on the fix. Thanks a million!
You can reverse the unlock with lock when required;
./fastboot-windows oem lock
I'm very curious as to whether the volume bug is also fixed for the bootloader, and if it affects CPU load in any way, anyone tested something along those lines yet?

Paul if you dont mind i will repack it to zImage flashable mod because your stock boot.img will disable all tweaks in my ROM if people flash it.

Thanks in advance(Nexus on its way)
With all credits to paulobrien, who delivered this stock kernel to us, I made recovery flashable .zip with zImage file (kernel) instead of whole boot.img, because I do some changes to ramdisk (another part of boot.img) and by flashing default boot.img over my ROM you will loose all my tweaks. Also there are no changes to ramdisk, volume button fix in only zImage related. So you can grab it from here
Just flash it in recovery. You can flash it on any ROM, not only mine.
Hope we get the updated kernel source soon!

The phone suffers from the volume bug even when it's in the bootloader. A lot of people think now it could be a hardware problem because there isn't much going on the software side in this state.
Which means if it is a hardware problem and you fix it with a software patch then it could still cause some problems under the hood. For example the phone doesn't sleep proberly while it is in a 2G area.
But according to Paul it doesn't cause any reaction on the phone. Which makes the bug really strange.
Edit: At least for me.
Paul,
The .bat file is "fastboot boot *.img", which i understand wouldn't be permanent, can we also "fastboot flash boot *.img"

i have manually run fastboot flash boot <image> on mine, and it worked.(i also backup a copy of my boot.img before hand just incase).
i believe what paul is trying to do is just a temporary fix (running it once) untill google release a proper update.
i was just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to change the splash screen on the galaxy nexus.
I have tried the "fastboot flash splash1 .img" that i used on my nexus one, to no surprise it didnt work, there isnt a 'splash' partition on samsungs as far as im aware.
If i remember correctly on my mates nexus s, he managed to change his by flashing this kernel he found. If it is in the kernel, could anyone tell me how to change it?
cheers in advance
Anyone? really want to change it ...

It's in /system/media, but that will be wiped out every time you flash a new ROM. /data/local is where it should go for a permanent fix.

I can't give you a complete answer, but I could maybe point you in the right direction.
Look in /dev/block/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/by-name. That is a list of all the partitions on the GN. We know it's not boot, system, user data, cache, efs, radio, recovery, sbl and xloader. That leaves param, misc, metadata and dgs. Maybe try dumping these and see if any of them can be converted to images (using nbimg.exe).

I came across with your question now!!!
The command is not "fastboot flash splash1 .img" but is "fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img". I hope that helped. If you have tried this please let us know!
I'd suppose it's in the param partition, or better I used to use the param.lfs in a tar, flashed via Odin and did it that way... I'll give it a try and see how that works out...
On second thoughts, I haven't got Windows, I'm running Ubuntu and that usaually has problems with Odin, I'll still try, though!

This is just a recovery I compiled from the latest available code from the CM10 source. It does not offer any major upgrade in function from ACL's latest cwm recovery, but is slightly aesthetically different.
Installation:

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Bugs:
recovery.log may show these errors:
Code:
failed to open /sys/class/android_usb/android0/state: No such file or directory

sorry to revive this old thread, but i just realised this recovery has a big problem and wanted to warn anyone who may want to try it: most blckups made by it have md5 mismatch, i meant i got that error at 14 out of 15 backups created.
EDIT1: i had a look at the backup folder and as far as i can see some .img files are not generated (i think cache and recovery) and also the nandroid.md5 is not generated, but that is easy to fix by generating it by urself throu adb.
Battery loading Led not working
The Led is not working with this recovery while charging.
I guess the Battery is not loading, too.
Edit - This is only, when phone is off. -
Hope this can be fixed.

Sorry about the bugs/lack of support but I do not have a Touch Pro 2 anymore.
The most help I can offer is uploading the device tree that I used to compile recovery in CM10 (and potentially compile a booting version of CM10 but that has never been accomplished due to kernel issues).

Maybe some of the kernel issues will be fixed there? I can probably get the git for it if you would want it.

It will has: HBOOT Upgrader, an how to and more more functions! The size is decreased of 30%. Sorry for this little problem
Some trouble.
Hello and thank you for your effort! I tried to flash twrp2853-endeavoru-NewLayout over the old one but while in recovery, the phone stays stuck at twrp hox welcome screen. Any idea of how can I pass this and access the twrp menu?

Hmmm. Isn't passing at all TWRP welcome screen? The phone can boot up in fastboot? If yes, Try this: go on Resources-ADB_TOOLS. Right click on ADB_TOOLS and select command prompt. Then reboot your phone in bootloader mode and type: fastboot erase cache , press enter, type fastboot reboot bootloader or fastboot reboot-bootloader and try to access in recovery.
P.s. tomorrow i will publish beta3 with HBOOT Upgrader and much much more!

Thanks for reply! I've just tried what you suggested but in recovery I still can't pass the twrp ''hox teamwin big'' screen. If I put the old layout back everything is fine again but can't flash any newer rom.
I must tell you though, that I've tried to install it before using different ways but I had the same result There's no way to pass the twrp new layout's start scxreen. So I guess there's something wrong on my side... (I had cwmr before, it may be that?). If you have any other suggestion i'll be happy to try, If not I'll try to dig more.
Once again, thank you for your work and support.

Hmmm... Probably the zip is damaged. The TWRP is flashed successfully or there are errors? No, the cwm doesn't make any problem. I will try to view if there is a problem on the code. Thanks for your test

I don't know for sure, but I rather think your zip file is ok. The flashing was ok, no errors. It's probably my phone. Of course, a double check on the code doesn't hurt, it just might be loosing time for nothing. Of course, if you will come back with something new tomorrow I will try my luck again

I will check the code asap. In 10 minutes i will update you... No, if it's your phone other recoveries doesn't boot at all. Anyway, i will check. Retry and update me. Good luck!
Edit: I've checked all the code, of all recoveries. Now i will add stock HTC Recovery (if anyone wants the stock recovery). Anyway... I will add another TWRP with New Layout Support.
Edit2: Check the beta3!
Beta3 is out! Check the new version! It has 7 more functions. You can find them in OP post at Downloads section!

Hmmm... I've read all the steps... But i don't know kali nethunter. I know only Kali for pc. If you explain me because you want it i will add them in a separate batch that will be called by the main program. The main step is to build the cm... the 2nd is more difficult... The 3rd too... Please explain me. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how to explain it to you because I am not a programmer. I tried to follow that guide but got scared because it looked a bit complex.

Okay, so... The process for me is a bit complicated because now i'm a win user, and not a linux user due to my bad pc (only 1gig of ram, single core 1.66GHz), but i can create an .sh script that can do this process automatically. Maybe if this work i will create some .sh script to build some custom rom . I need only to write the code that is in the guide (maybe with 2-3 sec of delay too and some echo) and optimizing them with some request. Anyway, stay tuned!
