I once installed a programm whcih I then deleted, because it was crap.
Til then, every time I connect my PDA to the computer a message pops up saying "\StorageCard\StorageCard\crappyProgramm.exe could not be executed".
Is there a way to delete this entry from I guess the resistry?
thx
Dumas
use card reader to delete it manually or if you don't have one...find app called WM5torage which will allow you to use your device as an usual usb card reader...simply do to explorer and delete those leftover files manually...
The file is already deleted!
But there seems to me an on-connect-autostart of this file somewhere in my windows. So every time I connect the pda to my computer, the error message "Couldn't find ..." pops up. How can I get rid of this error?
thx

Only one solution in my views, hard reset the device
Go to My Device/Windows/StartUp and delete the shortcut which tries to run the program

Hello,
My 9090 has been changed, and I reinstalled everything.
I get from time to time a message "Notification error" "Impossible to execute My Documents\Data\pCTimer.exe".
Has someone got this file, in the same folder or one else ?
Where should it come from, and what's the use ?
Thanks for your help.
Jean-Jacques
I really dont know what is that.. but sure you can try to backup and delete the file from Windows\Startup
The fact is I miss this file, there is no data folder in My Documents
Anyone who has got the file PCTimer.exe, how did you ?
Feel free to send a link or any info.
Jean-Jacques
Did a hardboot and reinstalled.
Data folder dtill missing, but no more warning. 8)

Some program was at some time installed into your "My Documents\Data" directory, and added itself to your notification database. You've since removed the application, but the removal didn't get rid of the database entry, which is why you were getting this error.
You could have gotten a utility like Anoton Tomov's Pocket Mechanic (Look at http://www.antontomov.com), which would allow you to look at all the entries in the Notification database and even remove the offending entry.
This would have saved you hard resetting your device.
I've had a similar problem with eWallet 4.0 installed on my SD card, where I'd get an error like that if my XDA shut off before I closed eWallet.
Hi,
I'm having some trouble with my TomTom 6.02. It wasn't pre-installed so i had to install it on my device. I've installed the mail app on the device itself and the maps and other crap on the storage card ( 2gb ).
Now the problem is that whenever i soft reset my orbit tomtom start up automatically. i found a folder in my windows dir ( /windows/startup/storage card/autorun.exe ) which is responsible for this trouble. I've tried to deleted it ( or rename it) but as soon as i make a soft reset the folder just comes back.
I also found the autorun.exe on my storage card ( /storage card/2577/autorun.exe ). after deleting this file and making a soft reset tomtom doesn't start up anymore, however if i start tomtom manually it tells me that there are no maps found. if i place the file back on my storage card tomtom start's up normally with all the maps.
I looked in the register but didn't find any links to the /windows/startup.... and yes i've tried to re-install tomtom twice now.
Does anyone had this problem or maybe knows a solution?
thx for the help
Just re-name the folde (anything2577)
I had same problem where it always wants to re-install after sprite backup resets. Just re-name the folder named 2577 to eg. AB2577 and that stops the repeated installs. If you want it to auto install in future just re-name again to 2577
the problem is, if i do this, tomtom doesn't find any maps anymore. it starts up, but with an error that there are no maps found.
Why not install version 6.03?

I use this on version 6.03 without any problems, so you may want to try that as well.
Hi,
First copy all the data onto a harddrive. Then delete the whole data on the sd Card and format the SD card. Then all you need to do is copy all the files into the SD Card this time using activeSync and it converts the files. This takes about 20-30 minutes. Leave it and then go to file explorer. Go to storage card and then go to 2577 folder. In this folder don't click on autorun instead run ttn ot ttn2003. I think this would solve the problem

it works! Strange, cause bluetooth explorer wasn't enabled, I 'enabled/disabled' it and deleted the folder.
did you try turning it off and on again, sir?
This is really weird...
I followed the instruction and all started to work just fine..
Then, just for the heck of it, I checked the "enable Bluettoth explorer" box again...
Guess what? It doesn't find the maps! If I uncheck it, it cmoes back to worki perfect...
Mystery...
Hey everyone first time poster, just wanna say love the site and I come to you guys for some help........
I installed "Alfonso ThrottleLauncher" and my touch became very slow. I then attempted to remove it via Settings/System/Remove Programs. Everytime I try to remove it I get " Alfonso ThrottleLauncher was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs? " I tryed doing a soft reset and that didnt help. I also tryed removing it through MemMaid and that didn't work. Can anyone please help me get this thing off my Touch, it's running like crap.
I was under the assumption that it was making my touch slow because evertime I would open windows from file explorer it would take nearly 10 minutes to open and the ppc wouldnt run until it was opened. Now the problem i'm having is that i finally got the app removed, but the windows opening proccess is still giving me trouble. Any idea why this is happening. It only happens when trying to open windows.
The "\Windows" directory will always take longer to open due to the amount of files stored there. MemMaid should have wiped out all the files, I use and it works great. If you think there are additional files, just search the folders and registry. Or you could reinstall and use only MemMaid to clean it, I also have "Remove Bad Registry from Unistall" used during QuickClean.
Or.....hard reset if you want it all gone.
Hi guys. I am running stock ATT Tilt 2.
From the files in the Windows\StartUp folder
HTCStartUp - What does this program do? Important
MessageCSPTool - Does? Important?
PKG - Does? Important
poutlook - I assume it just loads the mail in the background so it loads and responds faster.
Question though,
On StartUp it runs NewBreak.exe, I want to dump that. How?
Also, it is running two programs for mail, one called "tmail.exe" and the other is the "poutlook.exe". Do I need both? What does tmail.exe do?
I'd also like to know what I can remove from startup. I have Tmous, and do not use Outlook to sync, I also do not use push email. I would like to remove anything that is not ABSOLUTELY necessary from startup. Some programs may have installed in startup, and I am perfectly happy just starting them manually when I need them, rather than having them start every time.
poutlook.ink
bttrayce.ink
delwmptempfolder.ink
htcstartup.ink
syncmanager.ink
instant forward.ink
pkg.ink
rungnangent.exe
ysrem.exe
Thank you in advance for your insight to this matter.
Try to move the files...
Try to move (cut / paste) one of the files in the startup folder ONE AT A TIME!! to a temporary folder (any place will do other than where it is now)
(these files are "links" or "'Shortcuts" to the real files in /Windows directory)
Make sure you have all your data backed up to a flash card or SD micro flash card or try the Microsoft "MyPhone" service... After all.. it's free. so if you end up with a phone that wont start up normally you can do a hard reset and the phone will revert back to factory clean install or what ever ROM you flashed into it. Then you can recover your stuff off of the MicroSD card or the MyPhone service.
1 make a new folder in the /windows/startup folder e.g. "temp" or "test"
2 tap and hold one of the files e.g. 'poutlook' - hold it untill you get the blue dots and then a menu.
3. select the "CUT" option from the menu
4. tap on the new folder you created to navigate into it, and then tap and hold untill you get the menu again, and then select "Paste"
5. do a soft reset and see what happens. Play around and see what is working and what is not working.
6. If nothing bad happens try another file until either you get the result you want OR all the files a gone, OR badness happens.
Most of these programs just run in the background and start services like bluetooth or Pocket Outlook so that they will start faster when you select them.
I removed Myfaves from the startup folder on my wing and it stopped My Faves from starting and gave me about 6MB of program memory back.
I never tried the others.
I just got my Touch Pro 2 so i'd be curious to see how you make out.
Good luck!
i have, on sprint, the galaxy s3, NOT the i900 or whatever that means. mine says model number SPH-L710
i have it rooted with the phantom rom installed, with superuser permissions. however, not sure what happened
but for some reason, i can no longer transfer files, any files, from my pc to the phone. this includes pictures,
music, documents--anything. the files are my personal files and music i ripped, and never had a problem
copying before, and all this just started. unless im hooking it up wrong, which i doubt--using the usb cable from
pc port to the phone directly. it does show the charge icon, and in the usb settings, usb debugging is checked
and also checked on media device (mtp). another option which isn't checked is camera (ptp), unchecked.
what happens when i try is, on the pc i get a box that pops up and says--do you
want to copy (file name), your device might not be able to play or view the file. i do have 2 options, to skip or copy
anyway. well when i click copy, it goes through the motions, but its not on the phone. no matter what file i try, a
pic, small wav file, etc....just will not copy and no
where one the phone is the file. another issue that seems to be going on is, the best way i can
explain it is--when the phone is hooked up to the pc, is it possible for whatever it is thats running to make the
phone able to receive copied files, go to sleep? because another error message i get when trying to copy is
it sits there for awhile, then eventually says "device not responding, disconnected" and on the phone itself its
on the main home screen like i wasn't doing nothing.
ive rebooted the phone several times, same results--nothing wil copy to the phone....
sooo, what am i missing?
update--- since that post, something else now happened. the phone flashed on, saying "sd card not mounted"
when it is. it is in the right way and all that, but when i go into settings/storage...at the very bottom it says
sd card, insert sd card
lol...so what the heck is that all about? the card is definatelly in there, and astro file manager shows some
files on the card but........
Well, it could be a couple of things.
First of all, make sure you have the Samsung USB drivers installed. It could be a corrupt driver, but probably not. It won't hurt to reinstall it, anyway, just to be sure. Here's link:
http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...nt_L710_GSIII_Samsung_USB_Driver_v1_4_6_0.exe
Make sure your phone is not locked when you're trying to transfer files. If you have a PIN or a PATTERN lock enabled and it locks, it will disable the MTP application from trasferring files.
Try reflashing the ROM as well. Maybe the MPT application got corrupted somehow?
As a last resort, you can restore your phone to stock unrooted status and see if that resolves the issue.
I had the same thing happen to me. I fixed the problem by going into device manager and clicking on to mtp and updating it..
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I had the same thing happen to my SdCard and now it is kinda dead... before yours gets damaged, remove it and insert in a PC with a sdcard reader. Run command prompt (Start>Run>cmd and enter) and do a scan disk or check disk by entering "chkdsk /x /f driverletter:" use the drive letter assigned to the sdcard then enter, let it do it's thing.
This will fix the file system and you shouldn't more problems with the sdcard not being read. As for the MTP, do as the other member said and try updating the MTP device in in device manager or uninstall the drivers and install directly from Samsung.
