I was looking around for a way to start playing audio when i insert a audiojack, and stopping it when i take out the jack. I use my phone to play music in the car but i dont want to go through selecting a song when i get in and stopping it and closing WMP when i get out of the car, so it would be handy if music starts playing any random song when i insert the audio jack and stops and closes WMP when i take it out. (Or even maybe theres another audioplayer that has that?)
Interesting concept. Would also be interested in this if any existing apps exist.

Yep, Slide2Play can do this when used with Slide 2 Unlock (there's settings under slide to unlock to activate this).

Not a big fan of S2U2 and would rather have this option in a simple fix or basic app allowing user to still use his/her choice of media player.
I'll have a look at Slide2Play later to see if this works without S2U2 installed as well.
If anyone is aware of alternatives, please feel free to post

You could also try g-profile. You can make a profile based on the audiojack and let it start your music player. And another profile closes the player when there is no audiojack.
Find this : AudioManager_HeadsetTool_Setup.

I installed it and played around with it untill i got it to open WMP.. now, is there a way of making WMP start playing when its opened?
Is there a command line switch that will tell it to play? If there is it will likely be the same as in the the desktop version.
hope someone can realize this...

Ok I have searched every thread i could find but didnt find an answer for either of these questions:
How do i limit what folders it adds music files from?
How do i make albums sort by track number?
Many thanks.
No insight, anyone?
Oh, another question too: How do i REMOVE music from the library? I even deleted the file and the library wont update itself or anything.
Or does anyone know why the 'trim' function is greyed out and doesn't work? At least, it doesn't work for me... Thanks.
I REALLY need the tracks ordered by track number. With compilations of continuous music this player is unusable and its so well integrated!
the last version ordered by track number inside albums.. i know mine does, if it wasnt for that update it would've been annoying, cos its a great audio player.
I don't know of anyone way to add/remove, each time you start it up, it rescans certain folders..
It definitely automatically rescans, because it always adds the podcasts I download into my Music folder on my storage card very quickly, and removes the ones that I delete.
I use great software called BeyondSync to do this automatically BTW.

Yes i know that, but when they do work on the Hermes they usually show up in the Hermes forum. I dont go into the (enter other htc phone name here) thread and assume everything there will work.
Nevertheless, gracias for ur help.

Hi - this might not be specificially related to the WM6.1 update - but I hope I can gain some insights.
I used to stream a particular radio station from my phone. It is obvious that the site was not really designed for pda/phone use but it worked soso despite the site graphics/buttons not displaying well in the mobile browser ... the streaming was choppy but OK. I am not sure this is a problem with their site or with my device (Dash) - since other sites stream OK, and this site streams OK from other devices and PCs.
But recently the page for the streaming site glitches out such that I cannot navigate or get the stream started. Might be a browser setting or something else. I can't tell.
Anyway - I was hoping someone here using WM6.1 and the included IE browser could give it a try and lend some insights.
Here is the bookmarked URL that I use, that used to start the audio directly:
http://gateway.andohs.net/player/?sid=5864&nid=2920
Alternatively, you can start here: http://www.ksfo.com/article.asp?id=53139 and click to 'start live audio'
I'd be interesting in know if anyone here can see the page and/or get the streaming working - particularly on a WM6.1 T-Mobile Dash, but also on another device (as a reality check).
Depending on what others see, we can discuss whether this is just me, or something quirky with the WM6.1 browser or something else.
Thanks!

OMFG - my life just improved immensely! I've spend the better part of 2 months trying to get bluetooth stereo working with my streaming sites for my daily run ... now I can listen to one of my fav radio stations again.
Thanks so much! Profanity was definitely warranted here ; )
Another Site ?
Well, I might as well push my luck.
ANother streaming site - different problem

the browser brings up the site with a message that says something like "Flash lite player play back flash files that are created for mobile devices"
Any solutions, insights or alternatives?
Thanks again!
Try this one, I think it's KFOX (KUFX):

Well, happy to help :^)
For this one I brought up the player in the URL you provided, then right-clicked on the 'Play' button to get the link properties. These stations often use reflectors or other indirection, so you need to get as close the the music as you can to start poking around :^)
My own personal quest was similar a few years ago, trying to get WMVY to stream.
Enjoy!

thanks - that was a nice try but something is amiss. Apparently KFOX also goes by KUFX ... but when I click directly on the radio station's site their special player says a specific song is playing (and the song is playing). When I click on the URLs you clipped or on that usliveradio site - the KUFX link brings me to a windows media player that actually plays video - and certainly not the song the radio station is currently streaming.
The search continues.
Thanks for the help! And I definitely want to encourage more help!

I use The Mobile Stream Center for all my radio streams. I use TCPMP to save the link in a playlist so I can have all my favs in just a click It list all streams available in the 50 states.
I am not sure how this helps the thread. If the specific radio station I want is not on the list, then my problem still remains.
I was hoping someone could offer another "miracle solution" like the first radio station I listed (they somehow were able to extract the URL in a different way that worked like a charm on the Dash). This other station - just as popular - seems to pose more problems.
The other station is: KFOX in San Jose (actually the real call letters seem to be KUFX) http://www.kufx.com/cc-common/streaming_new/index.html
Thanks.

Perhaps you should have looked and saw how it helps the thread It is listed 98.5 KFOX (KUFX) [San Jose, Classic Rock], and it has a PDA only stream (WMP), which means load it in your Dash and play away. By the way the other station is listed as well 560 KSFO (KSFO) [San Francisco, News/Talk] in both PDA (WMP) and MP3 streams.
Like Isaid, I use TCPMP, Windows Media has problems with some streams that I have never had with TCPMP (in options/ file assoc on TCPMP make sure you select HTTP and MMS).
yeah, you're right ... that link probably helps a lot of people - just does not solve the current problem-link that I was posting here. Thanks.

You know, as the OP, I have to again thank this community. At least with the KSFO station, I am just a happy camper listening while I run etc on my Dash. This forum has really saved me so much heartache and in this case added some productivity and enjoyment to my Dash use. Thanks again! KUFX (KFOX) from thestreamcenter.com works on my Dash. It's down toward the bottom of the CA list.
Is that what you meant by KFOG or are you really looking for KFOG?

Usually a look at the properties of whatever's playing will reveal the final URL. Many streaming feeds go through one or two levels of indirection. In extreme cases you might need to look at the source HTML of a page in order to discover the link...this happens a lot when there's a JavaScript popup player, for example.
I have a Bluetooth-enabled car stereo and use the Dash all the time to stream internet stations into the stereo.

I used the link for KSFO radio in SF on my BB 8800 and got an error message as follows: "Error Playing: The media playing is of an unsupported format" i believe the radio station uses Windows Media Player, and an MP3 streaming format.
Any ideas anyone.
hey there,
i am one of those guys who frequently goes out to student parties where most people only have a laptop with some random musicplaylist. so most of the time that even runs on shuffle and those people mix oldies with techno and so on...
wouldnt it be interesting to have a windows mobile app that was able to crossfade 2 songs from the SD-card? maybe one can add some effects. maybe even a little database wich gives you the BPM. one could scratch via the touchscreen and so on. (thinking about a small version of a program like: TRAKTOR DJ STUDIO)
anyone interested in developing?
i can do the GFX work : )
just let me know whether that could work.

If you get it working then good for you. I had this for my diamond 2. Bought it on the marketplace and it didnt work they said if you have long song names or a more than 200 mp3's it wont work. I put it on my kaiser with a different sd card and it crashed on that.
try this though.
http://pocketdjstudio.x10hosting.com/pocket-djstudio.com/index_en.html
its more stable (well it at least works) I've used it a few times. the difference is djmixer searches for the tracks to built a playlist. where as on djstudio you load tracks onto each deck.

These are the worst answers I've ever seen. Obviously the OP is asking if it is possible to SYNC windows media player with the device.
So, OP, yes you can sync WMP with the EVO. You don't need iTunes or anything. When you sync WMP with the phone, then all your music shows up in the music app.
You can't sync videos, but it's easy to just place them on the phone using your phone as a hard drive.

i was suprised to see the ringtone size limitation(300kb) implemented on the newer androids. i didnt see any posts from the smarter folks on a work around or even trying to remove all together (like on froyo for example). is this only important to me? i understand how to recompress an mp3 file to achive required size or use 1 of the available market apps to accomplish the goal. i just thought it was nice to add any old song out of the library on a wim(i would change my wifes ring 2 or 3 times ina given day depending on how much she annoyed me)
guess im wondering if i bothers anyone else or if anyones working on a fix?

there are some (music) apps on the play store that can process ringtones.
I use PowerAmp (unfortunately it's a paid one) and use it to set ringtones. If you have GoSMS, that app also sets ringtones.....hopefully this one helps. If you are talking about "Assigning Tones" among contacts, it's quite challenging.
EDIT: oh...and just observed that .WAV files do good as tones...

so its an carrier things not an andriod? its nice not to have to edit songs in ringdroid just add straight from your music dir. maybe if i load a rogers based rom....
Interesting that AT&T would do this but it makes good business sense.
Not many people know how to edit songs to make ring tones so rather then learn they will pay AT&T for there 2$+ ringtones.
Glad Rogers does not do that. I just find it's hard to find a good song that starts off relatively loud for a ringtone. This is why many people edit and grab the middle or the chorus of the song.
