Sponsor Flywhc a TP2 to speed up development of TMC driver - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

The development of a tmc driver for the touch pro 2 is stucked, since htc uses some other hardware and driver for the radio chip.
see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497977
Member Flywhc has no rhodium device, and because of that the development goes slowly.
My idea is to setup some donation to sponsor Flywhc a rhodium device. If everybody, who likes to have tmc on there rhodium, puts a few bucks in the donation pocket, we can arrange a rhodium for cheap.
So somebody needs to open a paypal for donation or use his, when there is suffiecient money to buy a rhodium, close the donation, buy a device and ship it to flywhc.
Why do you people think about that?

How to make Bluetooth voice dial work on our HTC devices.

No bull ****.
I have an MPX300 and the bluetooth voicedail work swwwweeettt!
I am almost tempted to keep the MPX300 because the BT handsfree works great and the ability to make calls by pressing a button on my BT headset and only using my voice is so wonderful.
I can leave the phone in my briefcase or in my PDASkin case and make a call by simply pressing one button on my BT headset and speaking a number or simply saying the name of one of my contacts, perfectly. Even while I drive my car.
Ha, and other people ***** about the PDA-cell phone being to big! They can't any more when the little BT headset on my ear can do everything there dumb "small" phone can do!
The maker of the bluetooth hardware driver and voice recognition software is www.voicesignal.com
If they make it for all the other phones out there, dam it, they should make it for the HTC devices too.
The only problem is they do not think there is a market for all the individual "end users" like us and I think they only deal with the OEM clients.
If we gather together and become a "high dollar" client like the OEM is, they will listen and make it. They are in their business for the money.
If we can find out their bottom line dollar amount they would need to develop a solution for the different HTC devices, and have xda-developers set up a special paypal donation account for bluetooth voice dial, and we all donate, we could do this.
I am willing to donate $200.
Because they will have to make a hardware driver for each HTC device, they may want a certain amount of money for each device. We may have to set up several donation accounts.
Hey, it is worth a shot.
Or, we could just bug the **** out of them and maybe they will start making it for our devices if they think there is a market for it.
Word of caution though, if we bug the **** out of them, they think there is a market for it, they will charge more if we go with the group donation idea.
Well, opinions please.

VoiceSignal software for smartphones
VoiceSignal would be happy to provide its speaker independent dialing solutions to HTC (or any other smartphone manufacturer); however, even though the HTC smartphones are based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile OS, we still need to work with the manufacturer to be able to get our application to work effectively on their phone.
If you would like to see the VoiceSignal application on the HTC (or any other smartphone) please contact the the manufacturer directly.
If you wont sell your software, http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23739&highlight=
then people will TAKE it.
We know that there is a special driver for each device needed to activate the your program when the BT device's button is pressed.
Make the driver for our devices and we wil buy it or donate money to any account you want.
I will personally donate $200.
The OEM's will not do **** and they do not listen.
I have bought a VITO Technology voice dialling solution which is advertised as working with the XDA II and a Bluetooth headset. Called VoiceDialer, it cost $15.95 and you can download a free 14 day trial from http://vitotechnology.com/en/products/voicedialer.html . It seems to work but I haven't checked it with my Bluetooth headset yet.
Please try it and let me know what you think

PETITION NOT TO BUY XDA2i

hi
i want to get as many ppl on this band wagon.... DOnt buy any new ppcs.. lets wait it out and try to get companys like o2,vodafone,qtek and imate to give us 2005 upgrades...
i figure if we dont buy..they might just give in...
BTW: applause to HP and dell for the upgrades
Hello!
Do we know that they are NOT gonna offer this upgrade to us?
Björn
well not sure about s and i
but somebody did get some reply to a mail that 1.72 was the last
rom for xdaII from o2 or something
actually no confirmation yet.. but judging from the support or lack of it more to the point from imate etc.. i can safely assume they will not..
plus the best defence is a good offence..
Hello!
Why is everybody complaining about the support? What has happend?
Björn
I'm having trouble understanding how 2005 can realistically work properly on an XDA2...
isn't it a bit like putting XP on a PentiumII 333?
Ant
well newer pda's with 2005 is not that more powerfull then xda2's
cpu speed or memory have not really skyrocket'd that much
newer devices just come with wifi really and maybe 500Mhz cpu's insted of 400
and VGA
RE
I would be happy if O2 gives my O2 XDA II the WM2003SE upgrade... with a small fee though.
What makes you think they would provide the WM2005 upgrade?
I think O2 is trying to monopolize the market.
@zohaer21: i can agree on your frustration cause the product is not made compatible with other types then the xdaII, coincidentally the type being used the most probably and being modified to the rightful end-owners wishes use, likely against the wishes of the developers.
WM2k5 is launched but forgot to mention that at this moment it's only available for a certain type of mobile phone. Which type of wm2k5 is being discussed and described on all the sites? Neato.
Applause to HP & Dell indeed. Their prices are the same as XDA types yet their upgrades on software... ohlala, what a difference.
@WaspWorld: reading many informational sites on Mobile phones, it's more like one local/geographical user will have luck and another can bite the dust, which is wrong yes. Try finding a general QTek support site, you'll end up biting the dust paying more where you bought it.
@ Anton: from what I've been reading here, wm2k5 runs smooth on an xdaII. Isn't more like it's built with more extras, so the end-user would be obliged to buy a new phone because the current phone doesn't support it? Remember the fact that it's (new) software with new 'features'.
I could get XP running on a PentiumI 200MMX, sluggish system but it ran ok, bugged out the non-necessities and it ran better.
@Rudegar: true, so it's not that the xdaII isn't up for wm2k5.
by not upgrading ?
they dont make their money selling the devices
since the device cost alot more if you dont get it
with a cellphoen subscription
so they are spending money when people buy their phones
of cause they plan on making even more on the subscription
the reason i think they would not offer the upgrade is because of
the support cost it would bring yet another platform for their tech's to
advice people about how to get working and how to get working like their old nokia worked and ....
and about monopolize then i guess that depend on where you are
because they are not present here at all
@Rudegar: so true. That's why large OEM companies like HP & Dell have such a large support staff. For the rest of them like most of use are subject to, it's tougher to provide excellent support. I guess that's one of the major reasons for the existence of this forum.
I think they will never offer an uograde to make us looking always for the missing things as I am sure they will never offer us the device of our dreams. there will be always something missing to look forward to buy it when they offer it in a new device lacking some other things,... and so on

Anyone with a HTC P3300 yet?

Does the wifi work?
Do you like the mouse button?
Does it take 2 GB mini SD cards?
How many hours can you use TomTom on one battery load? (wifi, Bluetooth, GSM, FM Radio, enabled)
(That's 5 receivers!)
T-mobile germany has a P3300 (T-Mobile MDA compact III) on the website.
A dutch guy maggoo has a preproduction? T-Mobile compact III, only he is on Holiday now...
His wifi is not working BTW...
Offcourse BengalBoy (King of gadgets) has a preproduction? P3300 since august 2006.
Apparently, Bengalboy has posted his on ebay

Nice Phone and a ugly Woman
LOL,
i wish i would own such a sweet device for changing it with my Trion or Wizard. The only thing i really appreciate is the FM receiver. Everything else i wouldnt exchange with my Trion. Due the fact that this device is not that perfomant like other PDAs
But why not having a small device in the pocket? Fits perfectly to my suit
I was thinking about the GPS.... Does the GPS work fine?? I really2 like the size
That ebay auction looks fishy to me. No recent feedback, bank transfer, no warranties etc etc....
guess it has not been release yet still, same here for my country singapore, anticipating it release along with the p3600
Hi!
I did actually test the device last Saturday. It was displayed at the Microsoft stand on a Norwegian multimedia exhibit. The device performed very well and the GPS and FM tuner worked perfectly. The head of Microsoft Windows Mobile in Norway confirmed that the mass production started October 13th, and that the device would be shipped to Europe after 15 days (October 28th).

Does anyone know if it will support Blackberry connections?
The Artemis Proto is available for purchase. The ebay auction was mine and not fishy.
As for the "ugly woman", I suggest getting your eyes checked immediately, or, should you be at CES in Vegas this January, come introduce yourself to me and say it to my face. Hehe... but we all know you never would..
BegalBoy - don't know if anyone else has greeted you, but it's great to have you on the forum! You're a legend! Keep up the exceptional work.

Thank you Vijay555 for the welcome. I visit XDA-Devs all the time. This is the "Site" for operating system development and individual work for improving the performance of the devices we all love. It has been the only place since I got my first XDAII (imate Pocket PC) back in the day to offer assistance and improvement on issues with the operating systems long before solutions are provided by the manufacter. I always have respected the "code warriors" here and the fact that you rarely see any juvenile posts,,, only tech and device related. But I couldn't resist when I saw that unusual comment about one of my girls.
Thanks to all of you for assisting the community, if I can ever be of any help providing ROMs on unreleased devices don't hesitate to ask.

It would be nice if you could dump the roms on your unreleased devices and post them here, if you need technical assistance just ask
just out of curiosity, where do u get the devices so early?? I saw that no one bid for them on ebay... but what you have to do if you want to sell them is send the ebay auction link to people at imei-check, they usually buy preproduction devices at any price to have the unlockers ready when the devices are released.
was really tempted to bid n buy the item coz its not available in singapore yet, really a neat device after seeing the video introduction on Youtube by none other than bengalboy himself, the p3600 n p3300 are really devices worth waiting for, would choose either one to replace my exisiting O2 mini aka magician which have been serving me well still...
any idea regarding the price over in your country yet?
Zomg it's BengalBoy
hey there bro nice to see you here, yeah this is probably the best gadget forum in regards to wm phones, hope to see ya around more often you could contribute greatly to the community,
p.s. nice site you have
Be happy to dump the ROM for you guys, got some instructions??? Its prototype, but, maybe you guys can help me.... I have this proto rom as well as a new ROM with Tom Tom on board.. Which do you want? Would be nice if someone could help me CID unlock my device to install the new ROM on.. Also have the Trinity if you want that ROM as well...
pardon my newbie-ness but just whats the purpose of dumping the ROM here?
BegalBoy, this is a good description of how to dump roms the "hard way", so to speak. There are other easier tools, but they've given mixed result on the Treo, so this method is generally sound.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HowtoDumpRom&action=BackLinks
lmf_slacker: we enjoy taking roms apart to see what's been changed, updated, perhaps incorporate new features that haven't migrated into our roms yet. Not all operators are diligent in updating "obsolete" devices, but we like to keep them alive!
V
i can see from the link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...on=Back Links that u can change the language of the device if u change the ROM, is that all u change?

Meeting with HTC

Hi all
i'm an engineer doing R&D for Leaf Wireless in South Africa. We supply wireless solutions and HTC phones to Africa.
i'm going to Taiwan to meet and recieve training from the HTC engineers from monday the 12th. And since i've received so much help from XDA developers in the past i thought i'd offer.
if there are any customisation questions you have or HTC issues that are proving difficult to solve post them here. i'll ask the guys when i get there and try get some answers.
cheers,
Greg
hmm this thread sounds like it could take off.
i dont think you know what you got yourself into supaspud. i know lots of people are going to have questions and suggestions for htc.
i for one would like to see them implement a wheel mouse not unlike the one in the danger sidekick 3. that would make wm experience 100 times better.
also ask if crossbow will officially be released as an upgrade for the wizard.
when i think of more questions or suggestions ill reply again
?Why don't they make a full size (3.5" or whatever) screen in a cdma with more memory. Hell it doesn't even have to be vga. I use mine as a pda, if I wanted a tiny screen, I'd just get a damn phone.

Save yourself the bother. It would be up to the telco's to decide on releasing an official update and they would then pay HTC to build the rom. Expect that to happen about the same time as the telco's decide to donate all their profits to third world charities.
It's not a telco thing. If you are refering to the companies who re-brand the HTC machines (most of whom are not telcos) the decision will be based mostly on whether HTC will actually supply the ROM and at what cost if any. They would have a fairly good idea about what they are going to do for some machines as they own one such company that retails their machines (Dopod). Find out about possibility of Artemis crossbow ROM if you can
Linux
It would be interesting to get their opinion on Linux on the HTC platform, and whether they would consider contributing to the development of a well rounded Linux based phone environment.
Yes, their opinion on linux would be good to know
Ask if they have any future plans to support it officially.
Ask them what (apart from soldering the chips on and editing the rom file for memory alocation) needs to be done to make 128mb of ram work on UNIVERSAL (it origionally had it, so the motherboard supports it and it can work
Hello Leaf Wireless
Well, well Greg, I thought that Leaf would not come out of the closet.
I have been the source of information till now, but now please take the stage.
A few months back I introduced a few of your staff to the XDA site.
I am now and then fed tit bits of information which I share on the forum. The ROM 1.35 update is a good example.
There are some clever guys here and we can all all learn together.
The problems I raised with Renier was:
1. Storage card getting lost in Media Player
2. Windows 5 is full of unresloved problems, with the BT stack poor.
3. Battery life on 3G is shocking. I have upgraded to 1.27 to see if things improve.
4. I have an Email from Dan Mackie @HTC Eupope stating that an Major ROM upgrade would be released at the end of January 2007, "to resolve all known issues on the TyTN". Nothing has happened yet!
The issue with the storage card was a known issue and I was informed at the end of September that it would be sorted with the next upgrade.
It hasn't happened yet but I have noticed that the TyTN's that you have received do not have this problem.
Please feel free to contact me should you wish.
Enjoy the trip and let me have a copy of the new ROM before you leave.
Regards
A wish list would be for the keyboard have some kind of a lock to prevent it opening when retrieving from the pouch. I find that I often drop call on closing the keyboard.
The magnets in the pouch are also troublesome and cause screen rotation and also dropped calls at times when rotating back.
GPS in the Hermes
What component of software (hardware??) is missing in the Tytn compared to the Trinity to make the GPS work.
Thanks
Francisco
PS. My first post, and I would like to thanks all the excellent XDA-developers community for this great forum.

Several people have already asked this question:
- How can we install 128Mb RAM on Universal?
HTC never replied.
sheesh...
wow... looks like I opened up pandora's box. i'm making a list of all the queries and i'll ask them on monday. keep em coming...
ps: i'll find out bout the rom now.
Hey SSpud - gr8 offer !
1. I''d like you to ask why they dont set the default Bluetooth (a2dp) to Stereo (and the bit rate / max bit rate to 40+) ... and generally fix stereo BT.
2. How do they acvtually work with customers (eg BT in the UK) .... I get the inpression they are extremely slow and unresponsive.
2. Camera - if even cheap sony ericons can have autofocus and macro settings why cant HTC ?
3. Stereo Jacks (3.5 or 2.5mm)
4. Direct access to microSD card
5. When will they update their FAQ's and trouble shooting guides beyond the patronising " check that it is turned on type " answers.
Thanks for this oportunity !!
(I'm especially intersted efor Artemis/ XDA orbit)
Hello 'Spud,
Apart from sorting/mentioning the listed problems here - especially the poor bluetooth stack IMO - please do bump the question regarding their future GPS roadmap for TyTN/Hermes series of phones.
Now that will make a true convergence of technologies.
Kind regards,
Mine is a small and trivial request... could they please please please fix the battery meter on the hermes... the [email protected] +/- 10% drives me nuts... wish we could get the +/- 1% like the other devices.

Tell the guys at HTC to watch the XDA-Developers site to find out what's wrong with their phones and what features are needed to turn them into great devices - remember the IPhone is comming!
Basil
Tell them not to save cents in devices that cost hundred of dollars. For instance they use cheap and weak cpus like samsung (which has only ARMv4T) ot OMAP with it's low clock frequencies. Or they save memory and instead of using 128MB or more RAM! RAM is cheap! I'd like to see smaller touchscreen displays with VGA resolution! Look at the size and resolution of some nokias: E60 or E70. I'd like to see hermes (device with foldable keyboard) with gps, 624MHz intel cpu, 128MB RAM and 2.2 inch touchscreen in the near future!
YES! Tell them about this forum! Tell them not to do stupid things in locking their devices - this simply reduces their markets!
And tell them that maybe it is about time to see their x86 UMPC! Look at the sony vaio UX180P or UX280P!

Collecting money for Cotulla to purchase Samsung phones

Hi everybody!
Recently I've spoke with Cotulla and he agreed to try to hack Samsung handsets to create a custom ROM. I think it's a GREAT NEWS! The only one cons - Cotulla don't have any Samsung handset. So, I've decide to collect money to buy used Samsung handsets on ebay and send 'em to Cotulla.
I've checked price for used Samsung handsets on ebay and got about $160-180 for used Focus and $260-270 for Omnia (Cotulla asked for two different handsets - I beleive he knows what he needs!). EMS shipping will costs about $60.
The agenda is:
collect $550 using ChipIn service;
buy two Samsung's handets, Focus and Omnia;
send these phones to Cotulla via EMS or FedEx;
rest will be donated to Cotulla;
All money flow will be open and clear; I'll post a receipt scans and periodically will report progress (ChipIn service is already open and clear).
The backup plan (if we can't collect desired amount during month) is:
if we'll have money for one Focus, I'll send Focus only to Cotulla. If not, collected money will be donated to Cotulla.
I hope the xda already has at least 50-100 generous Samsung handsets owners who want to get a "ROM freedom", so
WBR, SeNS
P.S. Just tried to make a first donation by myself but I can't because ChipIn is wired to my PayPal account BTW, I'll donate anyway!
P.P.S. Project finished, will publish project's statement later.
*********************************************************************************************
P.P.P.S. Project's financial report:
HTML:
Total donated: $161.00 (13 contributors)
Cash collected: $151.19 ($10 - PayPal fees)
Samsung Focus: $163.61 (bought on ebay, price with S&H + MA tax)
Shipping to Cotulla: $ 11.39
Grand total: $175.00
(my donation) $ 23.81
Maybe I'm missing something, but why not ask the seller to send the phone directly to Cotulla? Oh, I see he is from Russia... maybe you can get someone to buy and send a phone from Germany to him? It's about 200 Euro in Germany, brand new. Maybe ebay.de will find you something cheaper even.
Yes, we talked in XDA PM with sensboston about ability for DFT team try to "unlock" Samsung devices for custom ROMs
Usually we working only with HTC devices, but why not try new?
Actually, We need few days to do static analysis on Samsung ROMs to finally confirm that DFT take this project. (Maybe Samsung devices are too strongly secured so it can become very hard work )
something in case you didnt know yet.
just Omnia7 Sales are already above 5,000 at Taobao a month in China.
so large Samsung handsets owners...
Charging Paypal via Alipay we usually used is inconvenient.
ChipIn. More difficult ..for chinese . i think..
from wpxap.com
I will donate next month something.
Personally I own a Samsung Omnia 7 and its a pretty beautiful device, but what will happen with Custom Roms?
It would be simple fing awesome.
I owned the Xperia X1 with Custom Roms and the Samsung Omnia itself.
DFT you're making a awesome job for the community.
I'm looking forward for your Samsung roms.
I'd donate if they it was for CDMA based models (I dont have a Samsung phone a HTC but, a CDMA one). THey don't touch CDMA because they dont have phones and that's with HTC..
Verizon Trophy and the Sprint Arrive is what I am talking about...
Good luck on the quest...maybe someone will start one for us...
Edit: Maybe a few people have some used ones for sale, sending them 2 used ones over 1 new one would be more usefull on testing (incase they brick one in testing), Just a thought to help. As long as the phones work, are in good shape and are not blacklisted it should be fine for testing....Unless they said they only will take new ones for donation.
Just a thought....
I'm afraid we collect nothing at this rate
C'mon guys, don't be so cheap! I'm expecting xda members not a children/teens only with mom's birthday gift - fancy expensive handset...
As for adults - donating $5 - $10 is nothing, you've spent much more to pay your monthly bill or even usual tips to waiter in restaurant!
Lets appreciate Cotulla's hard work for community, don't be cheap!
yeeah and after Samsung only LG is missing ,waiting for DFT LG roms ^^ Are there som plans or have LG users no Luck ?
And Cotulla/DFT you re bringing back the wm feeling with your roms

Sorry, guys, for reposting, but forum moderators are ignoring my requests to pin this topic to the top for a month Also it moved here, to "General" but seems like people here don't know Cotulla (and didn't appreciate his outstanding job!) and not interested in custom ROM's Most topics about how good/bad WP7 is, complete blah-blah-blah... But (I believe) with custom ROM's WP7 can beat Android/i-fancy-Phone etc.
20 bucks from my side (fdf5840e5b297852).
Keep the good work up guys
