I don't know if it's just me but it seems like when I preview ringtones/system sounds (defaults and others) the volume seems to be quite loud.
However, when I ACTUALLY get an sms/phonecall, the volume definitely is lower than preview. Secondly, if I play bubblebreaker, and I break two sets and sequence the first one will be LOUD and the second will be moderate, then maybe it will be LOUD LOUD, moderate, LOUD, LOUD, etc. Is this because of typical speakerphone behavior? Would I benefit from the volume increase registry edit?
Thoughts? Opinions? Please?
Thanks.
I've bumped into the same issue.
GPS always seem much louder than what i get out of speakerphone.

hello everybody,
Sorry if this has been already discussed, I've searched the forum but couldn't find any answer!
My ring volume is low, sometimes the vibration makes louder "noise" than the ring itself, no matter what ringtone I set. All the time the ring volume is set to maxim and I try to use only built in tones.
Any ideea how to increase the volume? Does the speaker tweak work also for this (the Audio3 para file)?
Many thanks,
Radu
my speaker is loud as ****!!! are you sure you don't have a bad speaker? time for a warranty exchange?
I agree. It does sound like you have a bad speaker. On max volume, my device is quite deafening (I usually set it down a notch).
Try playing a song at max volume without headset connected so that it'll play through the rear speakers. If the volume is satisfactory, then it's probably a software fault somewhere (ring volume vs device volume?). If the volume is still soft, then you've got a bad speaker.
Thanks
Thank you for your answers.
I did some test and I really hope it's not a speaker problem. During a phone call, on speaker, I could listen very well outside, in a crowded & noisy space. Only the ring tones seems to be lower volume, at least for my ears.
ring
i am hv
aving the same problem. mine worked great till the phone froze up and then it reset it self, and all my info was gone and the ring volume was weak.
will keep looking but thinking i will have to reflash the unit
have you installed any program?
have you installed any program before this? I realized my problems might have come from KeepMyRingTones app... after a hard reset sound seems to be better, but still not as I wanted to be.
Same problem here...I wish the ringer was really loud. I used to have a nokia n82 and really loved the ringer and speaker volumes on it. Hoping Windows 6.5 will improve the ringer on this phone.
Try installing SRS Wow HD or HDTweak
Both have increase in volume settings
I've seen multiple posts here and across the web regarding increasing the volume of the speakers, earpiece and headset volume. The problem is that those who have sensitive hearing often want the opposite and we are in the minority.
Being that the changes require using HEX instead of decimals, I made all the changes to the file and attached it here.
The file attached has all the volume headset levels at 50% their original. I was on a 1hr 35min call with my brother. After that call, I had no headaches, earaches, nothing. My bro was watching Yankees and clapping, yelling in his mic and I had no problems.
Enjoy!!
why wouldn't someone just use the volume buttons to lower their volume? I know that's what I do.
I mean, the plus side to being able to have the volume normal or above is when you are in a crowded place yourself you can hear what the other person is saying right? I just cant see the plus side to having the volume permanently at 50%. Mind you I can see it being a pain in the butt to constantly have to adjust the volume down. Actually now that I think about it when you are in a call and you adjust the volume doesn't it automatically remember the setting you had it at so when the next call you have comes in its the same? It probably resets its self if you restart the phone.
Regardless... for anyone who does want this you have likely just saved them a TON of tinkering so good work!

I understand where you are coming from but I did not lower the volume by 50% for ALL audio output on the device. The way the CSV file is setup, you can increase/decrease volume using hexadecimal values to different audio output ports (earpiece, headset/audiojack, hands-free bluetooth, and speaker). I did not modify the earpiece, hands-free, or speaker. I just decreased the connected headset audio. It seriously was giving me headaches because it was too loud and the volume dial at the lowest was still unbearably loud. I personally don't want to go deaf so I made the revision.
I may do some more tweaking and increase the earpiece and speaker volume as the earpiece is way too low and the speaker could be a little bit louder.
Life is about balance. Sure ice cream tastes great but if you had more than you could eat all the time, you would probably start to hate it.
this is exactly what i was searching for! i use in-ears and they are way to loud when doing a call. thank you!
Is there any way to change the sound that's played when the ringer volume is changed? I just updated to froyo and noticed that when I change the ringer volume, the sample sound that it plays now is more of a straightforward beep, instead of a sort of hollow chime that it had before. It's a pretty small thing, but I was wondering: is there any way to change the sound, either on a stock or a rooted phone?
After poking around some more, it looks like the original sounds that it played on volume changes are in /system/media/audio/ui/ and are named Volume-1.mp3 through Volume-7.mp3. I still don't know why it's now just playing a standard beep, instead of these sounds. Did this change for everyone when they upgraded to froyo, or is it just me?
It changed for me as well.
Although, I have to say, I like this beep a little more than the chime, the chime was a bit high pitched for my taste.

I agree, it just got too high when you maxed out the volume.
But if you want them, here are the stock 2.1 HTC sounds. Just replace the volume mp3's.
Initially, my nexus's speaker volume and incall volume are both really low even at maximum settings. After browsing around xda, I found people recommending volume+ so I paid $1.62 and got the full version. Speaker volume is loud enough now, although I feel the quality is not very good. I don't use speaker to listen to music so it's not a big problem.
There's also in-call volume setting in volume+. I set it to 90 and strange things happens: When I use skype, in call volume is extremely high, I can almost treat it like I'm on speaker. It feels like the settings are working. However, for regular calls, the in-call volume stays the same, still too low for most cases. I can only hear people in quiet rooms. I barely hear anything on a street. Setting in-call volume to other numbers doesn't change the result. So my result is volume+ is only semi-functional. Any other fix for in call volume?
In call volume is the only api not exposed so it cant be increased. Btw everyone goes for volume+ but equalizer by smart apps is free and i much prefer over volume+.
Anybody has any other ideas? Low call volume is really annoying
Still nobody? Everyone‘s incall volume is loud enough?
Basically what the guy above just said:
androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=3927479
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Just did a test:
Removed in call settings
Speaker to +10
Called *611 (bell customer service) let the automated machine start talking..
Click volume down on rocker a few times then clicked volume up a few times and the sound increasef to am acceptable level.
However when i clicked up one to many times it almost mutes volume but the onscreen indicater is at max (found this odd).
Saw this on the thread you gave. I have the same situation. There exists a maximum in-call volume at around 3/4 of the bar. It's enough for regular use but still a bit low
low volume on calls
Still no one comes with a solution, the volume on the gnex is very low on call especially outside...thanks

I have the same problem using ZTE Blade... volume+ didn't work.
I think there solutions, many roms developer put on their changelog things like "in-call volume boosted" then I ask how you did that and no one anwers...
Anyway I did some research and I found on the rom i'm using a file named libaudio.so that says:
Setting in-call volume to %d (available range is 0 to 7)
Guess that for me increasing steps with volume+ only has efect until 7...
Maybe i'm being stupid... can someone with more experience analyse this?
I don't know what happened but the headphone volume is now extremely low, to the point I have it in full volume and it sounds as if it was below half volume...
Does anybody know how to increase it?
I'm using the same headphones I always do, so it's not the headphones.
Something that can influence is the fact that, when an app like instagram plays an audio, the audio of the phone gets crazy after the app stops and the music continues. It can be extremely loud in one ear and regular in the other, extremely loud in both, or extremely low in both. Again, I have no idea why. I have not installed any apps that can mess up with the audio and this is really driving me crazy.
There is an OTA aviable, so I'll check if that has somethig to do, but meanwhile i'm getting stressed over this volume... even with headphones I can listen to conversations people around me are having...
