How install XML files?

I can't install xml files
Please tell me? how i can do that

You cannot install xml files Think about it - its just a text inside...
edit: XML stands for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML

it's related to html as internet pages it's not a bin file which one can install

XML file is an input to another program and that would read the content and install whatever needs to be.

i have the same problem!!
The XML format files opend by document as defult, I cant install any XML format files.
Also in pocket PC the explorer is the defult to open XML files.

ad2master: Are you dumb, or just cannot read? Everything is explained above. I would just add, that XML is TXT, or INI file. It's just text prepared for a program to read.
When you got such a file from and what makes you think, that you can install it?

i think he's meaning is to load info in OMA xml foramat files that wince supports
like registery info ,network setting info,or file operation info etc.

We don't know it. Anyway for future reference: If you have problems with "XML file installation" provide us with example, we will be able to check what it contains.

Good news and Bad
BAD news = (jakubd) is a jack *EDITED*.
GOOD news = I have a fix.
WARNING = using this fix may make you kick yourself. I did.
PROBLEM = When you open the compressed file you see the content, some files and the important SETUP.XML Like years of Windows use has taught us, the SETUP file is the only one we need. It's like magic, we click and the preprogrammed file will do the rest. BUT all you get is TEXT. Thats crap.
CAUSE = You have WinRAR installed on your desktop PC, Don't you??
See WinRAR is telling your desktop computer that your .CAB file is a compressed .RAR file. It is but we will not get in to that. Confusion sucks.
FIX = You don't have to do step 1. but I recommend you do.
1. (on your desktop computer) go to START and to ALL PROGRAMS and open WinRAR. That was easy. Now click on OPTIONS and go down to click on SETTINGS (or just hit (CTRL + S) Click on tab INTEGRATION. On the left UNCHECK the BOX marked CAB. Say my name over and over while dancing on one foot.
2. Take the file you are installing (STILL COMPRESSED) and put it on your device. Use your FILE EXPLORER in your device to EXECUTE the still compressed .CAB (note: if you did not do step 1 the file will LOOK like a .RAR on your PC but a .CAB on your Phone/Device.)
SHORT ANSWER = do NOT uncompress the file on your Desktop PC. Just take the file just as it was when you downloaded it and put it on your Phone/Device. Use your Phone/Device file explorer to locate the file and execute it.
NOW = Kick your own *EDITED*

So going back to the very begining - you never ever install XMLs. Good explanation DJ_SirG - I would never guess that anybody at any occasion would try to decompress a CAB.
But as usual I'm asking myself - how many times people will as on forums "how to install xml file"... At least I have a place to point them to. Thanks!

I am just asking for help, you can help others if you want, or just keep your self away with your huge experience.

ad2master: I'm doing my best to help, but if somebody asks you "how to do X" and the person receives answer "you don't because it makes no sense" and then another one asks the same thing multiple times in multiple places instead of thinking for a while you can get irritated. Also when people ask hundreds of times the same question (like where is reset button) that are clearly explained in Wiki or were answered many times here, you can also get irritated and more over - they get irritated when you point the to the wiki or suggest HR.
And of course sometimes you can miss the point (like here) because of lack of information from the other side. I would never guessed that smb could first decompress a CAB file to install it and you need to know this part to understand the whole story with "xml" installation problem. It's like a person calling Ford support and asking "my car doesn't go" just to find out, that it run out of gas - it's so obvious, that you need fuel, they you don;t even take it into account. Same with CAB - it's so dead obvious to me that you don't decompress it before installation, that I would never take it into account.
So if you want precise and effective answer, check the wiki, search, use google, if nothing comes out and you think your are the first in the world with this specific problem: ask. But because you think you are so special, please try to be specific: give all the details that might be needed. answer all the questions that might help other people solve your problem. There is always somebody that might be able/want to help you, but you also have to help him.

I think The miss communication is when we would click on the .cab file to download it once it showed up on our desktop, it was a .rar. Like the file name was changed. So if you download XDA.CAB once the file was on your desktop it said XDA.RAR. So you click on it to find your .CAB file just to find .XML and let the confusion began.... I Must say to all you.."A-Holes" That Spitted on us for asking stupid questions like that you guys bashing us this guy actually knew what we were talking about and helped us why you guy stood back and did nothing Grats buddy you answered my question. and it just goes to show not everyone knows everything about computers.

The only reason I found this fix was because I ran out of hair to pull out.

I too had no idea how to install a .cab file with a setup xml file. Once the one gentlemen said to install the file with the file explorer it literally took as long as it took to open that file. I am really disappointed that I had a question and in order to get it answered I have to go through the abuse of being called names and being cursed at. I get enough of that at home. If you are going to run a web site that is a computer forum, you can safely assume that most of us do not have your knowledge; otherwise, we would have the web site. I have read all the previous messages but cannot get the answer im looking for. I have a folder which contains text files and a xml file. I do not see any setup file for me to click on.

but as all the previous posters, you probably didn't download a folder, but an archive and you extracted it to see the folder and its contents. that was the mistake. the .cab file appears like an archive on the pc, but is the extractable setup for the phone. try it again by extracting nothing and copy the file to the phone and start it there.

how to instal .cab

I searched for the exact title and I wasn't able to find anything. I am wondering how to install a new Chome thing. I think that is what a .cab is right?

Yeah, you're right. Installer files to have the ".cab" extension at the end. Just use ActiveSync to send the file from your PC to your Dash. Remember where you've stored it, because when you open File Explorer (on your phone) you'll need to go straight to that same location. Open the .cab and the file should install on your phone. Reboot.

I put the file on my phone went into it and clicked the setup file, it went to like Internet Explorer and did a bunch of crap, then I restarted the phone and nothing changed?

Install this... "Cab via Activesync".

After that installs, go to where you downloaded the cab file on your computer, right click on it, and choose "Cabviaactivesync". Make sure your phone is connected and synced up before you do. It will automatically install on your phone

how much spoon feeding do I need? You must not remember what it was like to be new to this stuff? I am very new to this modding stuff so I would appreciate if you would let people who are helpfull and not rude help me and you just ignore my thread. Thank you.
I DLed the fix for the .NET problem. Correct me if I am wrong, I download the file from

and then I extract the folder to my desktop, then I open the folder and right click the set up file and click cabviaactivesync. When I do that I now get Exception of Type "System Exception was thrown.
What to do?

Alright so I have been looking (Googling) my problem and I found that 1.3 doesn't have the bug's so I DLed it and now I get unable to install the cab visit there website to report the problem.
I am thinking that I am doing the installation wrong.
In my last post please tell me if I am taking the correct steps and right clicking the correct file(s).?

with the .cab installed my HomeScreen is a little weird, it didn't seem to install the whole file because it doesn't look and thing like the pictures given in the thread.
All of my thing's are X'ed out now, such as MY5 and my different browser's?
Also just for info. how do I uninstall a .cab

You just go to Start -> Settings -> More... -> Remove Programs. Voila.

Now I can't help you there. I haven't tampered with this .cab just yet...so I don't know how it "should" look.

Well seeing how's that's my .cab he installed... I would probably be the most apropriate person to help with it. But since you don't need my help, I'll let someone else have the "honor"
My advice, google BEFORE you ask simple questions...

I never said I didn't need your help, in fact your help would be awesome.
Can you help me out as to why the .cab doesn't look like the picture and why My5 and Programs and so on have a red X for the symbol for the Slide?

question about installing something

I tried to install the FM radio cab onto my phone, but when I go to run the setu up, I get an error message saying "there is no application associated with (this file), run the application first, then open the file from within the application.
What should I do?

What kind of file is it? .cab or .exe? If it's a .exe then run it from you're computer. Make sure you got active sync working

.cab files need to be moved to the phone (best to make a folder on the SD card just for that), and run from there.

Do other .cab files behave this way when you try to run them on your phone? It sounds like the one you downloaded might be corrupted..? Your phone should run it directly with no problem as long as the file extension is still ".cab"
I would try a soft-reset, and then try the copy I have attached here instead of the one you first grabbed (it's the same file, but I know this copy works ok). You'll just have to unzip it and then move the cab to your phone.

I had a wizard (which I think was the same phone as the MDA), and nothing will take the special place it will always have in my heart. However, the TP2 does a damn good job of carrying that torch

The Wizard is the MDA... it was my first touch screen/windows PDA... I'll never forget how excited I was to get it... I miss the nav pad a lot though.... and they removed the IR port (not that I used it) and the camera flash (not that it was very effective)... I don't think new phones should have features removed that their predecessors had... I had to fight Tmo to get a decent price on my TP2 (and I was still raped, and I'd been with them for 10 years) and then the touch screen stopped working completely after a few weeks... Never had that problem with the Wizard (MDA) or Herald (Wing) and I had them for years.... that combined with no nav pad and NO TAB KEY haven't made me fall in love with this device!

ive copied psfreedom files modudles zimage and psfreedom.ko to my sdcard.
ran gscript or terminal, but i get the error message unable to insmod psfreeom.ko.
before i changed my android version, i was run xdandriod, with config changfe and was loading fine, when it used to tell when to disconnect from usb.
ive gone with Android 2.2 Froyo][CyanogenMod 6 because it looks better and runs better,
is there a way i can run the ps jailbreak hack with this android version.
i look forward to all the help please, and can you provide files that i need to make this work for me.

did u remove ur old modules.zip, when u copied the one from psfreedom to ur SD Card? happened to me the first time i tried to install psfreedom.ko
and the installation is a little vague. if u dont get a message, just an extra line or two, its installed ok. you can confirm that it's installed, by trying to install it again and getting an "already exists" message
Btw im not using cyanogen (but still using a rom, which requires partioning), so i cant guarrantee what i said will work for you

Also, you should post in that thread instead of creating a new one. Might be a good idea to do some searching/reading in said thread.

I did exactly as described in the guide, exept for the "Remove Watermark" thing, as it is for windows x65 and x84. I have a 32 bit system.
I used the Energy.DIAMOND.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.21.7z ROM
I used the "flash from internal storage" method. Again, I did exactly as the guide described. I did change the ROM name to what is described in the guide, and when i did that, my pc warned me if i changed that which was after the .xxx , the program couldnt work properly anymore. I continued anyway because I was pretty sure it would work. I changed the name to DIAMIMG.nbh
Maybe that's what's wrong?
I used the MTTY program, and selected USB.
I typed: set 14 0
I typed: task 29
In the guide, only one file failed to be erased. I had four un-erased blocks.
I typed: task 8
I immediatley disconnected my device and held vol down and back for over 2 minutes. The startup screen came, which displayed TouchDiamond as normal, but this screen stays there forever, no matter what I do.
The only thing I can do is enter bootloader. Then, when i hook my device up to my computer, "serial" changes to "usb". When i check control panel--> device manager, I can see my device is hooked up. When i disconnect, it isn't there anymore. That means my pc still recognizes my htc.
Is there any way to fix this? Was it a wrong ROM version? Was it a Wrong HardSPL version? Please help me.
I've made a backup before I even started with the Hard SPL, but i'm not sure if thats the ROM, or the settings and some files on my internal storage. It's about 30-60 MB.
Please help me.
Also, I have downloaded the original rom from htc, but i'm not sure how to flash this, as activesync doesn't recognize my HTC device.
Again, please help me. There has to be a way.

btw u can still get ur original rom from htc netherland site....use ur serial number in ur device

I downloaded the rom from the htc site. i just flashed it and it works.
Now how to flash the energy rom? im still not sure which method to use, because it's now working like the htc one. it's a .z7 file. The htc rom was just double clicking and following the instructions. It may sound stupid, but i dont want it to happen again

glad ur device is working again. and dont worry if it happens again. becoz you can bring it back with htc rom always.
if i may suggest, how about you try a non-energy rom jus to kick in the confidence in you.
try another custom rom....then you can be sure if its really ur device or the energy rom file that is corrupt.
some users hav had issues with their energy rom files downladed being corrupt

Hi there...
File with z7, it's compressed file. You need to extract it first to a new folder. Then you can try to flash again.

Hello again.
I did notice when i first downloaded the energy rom that it was a 7z file. But when i tried to unzip it, there was no such option in the drop down menu. This is my mums pc, so I think it's not installed on this pc.
I'll try to unzip it today after school.
If it doesn't work then, I'll try to flash a few other roms, just to be sure.

It's working! I just used 7Zip and ran the RUU included with the ROM. Ill try several as maxsence 2.5 is a bit sluggish, ive tried two, but the 23699 build doesn't have cookie 2.0

now do you (or everyone else) believe me when i say there are some energy rom files that are corrupt or refuse to flash to diamond.

no, it was not corrupt, I was just so stupid not to unzip it first, that's all.
There may be some files that are corrupt, but i haven't witnessed one.
Now i know how to, i'm one die-hard flashin' mother******
