I read somewhere, that you can turn off string messaging and have it the old fashioned way, but I cannot find that thread anymore...
can anyone hit me with a link?
Thanks
AO
I think you mean threaded SMS? Have you tried turning it off in Advanced Configuration?
You can get it here.
or just go into Settings-> All Settings -> System Tab -> Text Messaging

First, how do you get internet settings back? I know everytime u flash a rom, you have to set up the connections again but how do I do it?
Second, how do you turn off the autotext when writing a text, its very annoying and you used to be able to turn it off by holding alt and space in 6.0 but 6.1 is different.
Third, anyone notice the threaded text in the english 6.1 now is a little off, the new text shows up in the middle of the whole conversation.
Fourth, How do you get the sms sent notification to turn off? seems smart tweaker app doesnt do it anymore.
Threads for proxy settings are all over this site If you're t-mobile try this

link does work and I am T MOBILE
Ok so ive answered two of my 4 questions
to setup internet again follow these:
Delete the Chinese settings under Settings -> Connections -> GPRS, then add new
1. T-Mobile Data, Connects to: The Internet, Access point: wap.voicestream.com
2. T-Mobile MMS, Connects to: WAP Network, Access point: wap.voicestream.com
Delete the Chinese settings under Settings -> Connections -> Proxy
And I also found out to get rid of annoying sms sent notification by just going to text messaging OPTIONS>ACCOUNT SETTINGS>UNCHECK "REQUEST DELIVERY NOTIFICATIONS"
Still would like to turn off the annoying auto text during text messaging and finding fix for the threaded text message english rom
are you uk?
yes i am ok
Just got a new TP2 replacement for the TP1 I dropped, it came pre-loaded w/6.5, and im still running on the stock Sprint ROM w/no other apps, etc.
Ive read other posts, but maybe im just retarded or missing something.. I installed advanced configuration tool 3.3 > enabled "sms delivery notification" under messaging > soft reset > send text to gf > get reply from gf... *** no delivery notification!!
Anyone know why? Do I have to disable threaded layout or something? Or do they go somewhere other than the standard sms inbox?
Thanks!
If you're using the HTC messaging app you need to enable delivery notifications while writing a message. Menu -> Tools -> Message Option
thanks for the reply. but i cant seem to find 'tools' under any sms menu button.. and I assume by htc messaging app, you are referring to the one that opens if you select the sms icon in TF3D nav bar and then just tap the screen?
sorry for the n00b question lol.. but ive only had this phone for a couple of days now and am still trying to get the hang of it.
You're welcome. The Menu appears when you writing a message.

Follow the screenshots. . .
my menu is identical to yours, only it ends with 'recipient phone number'.. there is no 'message option' in the menu.
i also reopened advanced config and verified that 'sms delivery notification' was enabled.. and indeed it was. is that all you did to enable it on your phone, or did you use a different method?
thanks again for the help!
Maybe the Sprint stock rom doesn't support this feature. No idea.
hmm any idea how i could find that out?
Maybe try this?

1- I cannot find where to configure MMS Settings.
2- Some keys with Function Key are not working on my qwerty keyboard. Like Symbol key, Fn+., Fn+B, Fn+N, FN+h, FN+j
Is there any CAB file which I need to setup? Please Help me in this regard.

RE 2: Have you tried the CAB posted here?
I have fixed the keyboard issue, thanks
I also found where to configure MMS Settings, but it is appearing disabled.
SMS/MMS -> Menu -> MMS Options -> Servers if I go here, I can see verizon wireless but it appears as disabled, I cannot edit

Have you tried running the connection setup to see if it set the right settings for your service provider?

I can't remember where I found this, but hope it helps:
MMS server settings are locked by default, to unlock it so you can change it:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI
and changed the key
EnableServerEdit from 0 to 1
I have installed mms cab file, now I am able to edit MMS Settings and I have configured MMS Settings according to my carrier but the MMS remains in the outbox and am not able to send
lol I can't figure out where am I wrong.
Hi...
There are a few things missing on stock app sms. One is the option for stop auto coverting sms in mms after 5sms's long, as you can read it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1100920
google it, and find this is a problem from back versions till now:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2318
Other missing options are:
- Make a phone call from sms (if I get a sms from someone saying me "Call me please", I have to exit sms, go to contacts, search for it, and make the phone call)
- Save contact from unknown number (if someone send me an sms "This is my number", I cannot save directly from sms list... again, must write it down, exit sms, go to contacts, and add a new one)
Its simple things and liked to know if its possible to change and add this little options in stock sms app. I like the stock app sms... its simple, quick and usefull, but missing little things ruin it..
Thanks in advance
Hi, experts
Galaxy W with Android 2.3.6
I found that it seems there is a limit of 3 concatenated messages for long text SMS. Entering a single char after that makes the message to be converted automaticaly to MMS. Erasing back that char converts again to SMS.
Can anyone confirm this? Is it from Android or from the device? Is there a way to override this limit?
The problem is that the receiver of the message may not have MMS service activated with his operator, or have a phone that doesn´t support MMS (they still exist...)
Any help, please?
Thanks a lot.
Hi....this is something that appears on custom ROMs aswell. You can (by default) type 3 text messages worth of text before it automatically converts to MMS. The good news is you can disable this function. If you open up messaging on your phone then press the menu button and access the settings, you'll find an option showing "SMS to MMS"....uncheck the box and that will disable it.....there's also an option to extend the conversion threshold to more than 3 SMSs......
Hit thanks if this helped....
CM9...I don't HAVE to.....I just.....can..
Nope... May be the settings you described are for custom rom. My phone has a stock rom: XXLA2 - XXKL3 - XXKL1.
There are no such settings.
Thanks anyway
My apologies...as an alternative, you could try downloading handcent....there IS an option in that app that does what I explained. .
