I asked about these two over in the HTC Forum but no replies so wonder if anyone here can explain please.
1. Under the Messages tab I have an entry that keeps returning. If I open it I get the window headed SMS/MMS, with the following contents:
Orange
19/09/09 12:19
Update Error: -0053 9804
Totally obscure to me, so hope someone can advise please.
BTW, under Menu, the final option is Copy to Phone. What would that do, or when would I want to use that?
2. I'm repeatedly getting a message that "SIM card is full. Please remove some messages." What messages would these be - text messages received? phone call history? How can I remove them please? And why do they get stored in the SIM? If I use SIM Manager (which I've now forgotten how I accessed!) then I see nothing amiss:

Copy to phone would cause the SIM contacts to be copied to the phone memory.
"Please remove some messages". This should mean that your text message inbox is full.
Looking at the screenshot my guess would be that your SIM can only hold 10 messages

Thanks, that makes sense, although seems a very small number?

Contacts? Or the weird message (which is where I get that menu option)? If the message, I don't understand why, or what that would do?
10 messages was quite normal in the old days when using just a SIM to store them. Don't know that the current limit is to be honest
Copy to phone is just for contacts as far as I know of...

Sorry to make heavy weather of this but I'm new to this stuff and still confused on this point. I'll describe this again.
When I use All Messages in Mail, one of the messages is the strange one I described. 'Update Error: -0053 9804'. Two 'softkey' menus are offered: Reply and Menu. If I click Menu I get the following options:
Delete, Reply, Reply All, Forward, Follow up, Select Text, Copy to Phone.
It was the last one I was asking about, and it doesn't seem to involve Contacts.

It refers to copying the sms to the phone's memory. If you store messages on the phone you are not faced with such a small limit, which is why many descriptions of phones say "limitless" or "nearly limitless" for the message limit.
Some sim chips have a 10 message limit, some 10 for sent, 10 for received, and maybe 10 for another one. And others give you 20 or 30, my home phonen has a 35 message limit. Not much, but at least it's easier not having to erase them every other day or so.
So yeah, if you want to keep your messages archived, it'd be best to save them on the phone's memory.
Thanks, understood.
Any idea what the message itself means? No reply from Orange to my query of a few days ago.

Finally got answer from Orange by phone call. It's somehow due to fact that I recently took phone to Canada.
Now academic as I've decided to switch to O2.

Hi
I've noticed a problem with my TP2, wondered if anyone else had it and had found a way round.
I store all my contacts as international codes (i.e. +447799xxxxxx etc) so I don't have to mess about when on holiday. However I've noticed a problem with this and the Touch Flo interface.
When I get an SMS I see it on the touch flo page, double click and i see the touch flo SMS interface as follows: -
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
However when I send, it drops the + from the beginning of the message. Concequently, it tries to send to 4417799xxxxxx which is invalid and goes into my drafts folder.
If however from the front page I choose the "All Messages" soft key and reply to the message in the standard threaded WM6.1 interface: -
then it works fine.
Any idea how to fix this (without removing +44 from all my contacts!)
Cheers, Sy

Just a clue...
I am not a friend of manila or tp2 but just an idea - maybe you have something wrong with the regional settings?
I also had this problem..
I´m wondering, did you install .NET CF3.5?

Yes, but before i had the same problem and after also.
remember notify HTC support !
I'm not sure but I think something goes wrong when restoring contacts via sprite-backup. I noticed an ';' behind or in front of a phone number once.
Try editing the contact, selecting and saving the phone number and see if it happens again.

Forget it. They are interested in selling not fixing. Terrible customer support
I don't use Sprite Backup, but my contacts are synced OTA to Exchange, whether that makes a difference or not I don't know.
I do have CF3.5 installed, but don't know whether I had the problem before (I installed it when I first got the phone).
Strangely the problem also seems a little intermittent - for example this morning I did a test reply using the TF interface, and it worked okay?
I will send a message to HTC though so hopefully they'll look into a fix!
Oh, and just noticed my regional settings were set to US not UK, so I've changed this to see if it makes a difference. Though the regional settings don't seem to make any direct reference to phone number format so we'll have to see if it actually makes a difference.
Further investigation suggests this seems to happen on the 2nd reply. i.e. in an SMS thread I reply to a message and it's okay....reply again (before another from sender) and the + gets dropped.

why all those double threads
Some of us HTC One X owners have noticed that the phone asks again for a PIN SIM code when you are in a bad-coverage area for a certain amount of time... if you don't notice it, you risk to miss calls or messages since you are out of the network. I'm learning to develop android apps and so I wanted to build my first useful (I hope) app for me and for the ones that have noticed this issue of the One X.
SIM Locked Notifier enables you to activate a ringtone or vibration (or both) when PIN/PUK is required. In this way you avoid missing calls or messages when your phone is out of the network, waiting for a PIN.
Get SIM Locked Notifier on Google Play!
I hope you find it useful, yesterday it warned me two times about this PIN issue (I'm happy because my app works, but I'm worried about this issue... hope they solve it soon).
The app is not heavy, it does nothing until the SIM State changed broadcast event is fired and the state is PIN/PUK required.
REMEMBER: run the app at least once after installation to enable the SIM Locked Notifier monitor. You must do this only once after installation, then it works even after a reboot.
Should this be the reason for me to get a lot of these messages? The content is my Operator name, my area name and my area code.

They appear a lot, and they come as a SMS from a number 50. The thing is, the interrupt anything that is running (pauses) and stand in front of everything, just like old iPhone messages. So they are different from my normal SMS, that just leaves a notification in the status bar.
If this is it, I'm gonna be so glad that now I know the reason...
P.S: My SIM is not PIN locked, so this may be the reason I see those messages.
Greetings, Santroph.
I too have been having this problem on random occasions and have missed calls/sms's etc that were important.
This app appears to be working perfectly +1 for this and thank you for all your work.

Try to enable the PIN on the SIM card and see if it asks you for the PIN randomly.

A little bump for visibility
I hope someone else will find it useful, yesterday it "saved" me twice from being out-of-network.. HTC must solve this issue in the radio code (I think the problem is there..).
Just updated to the new firnware, which has new radio fw.. maybe the issue is solved now.. I think my app will have very very few downloads, btw it has been a good test project to learn a bit about android
Inviato dal mio HTC One X con Tapatalk 2
good app
im on 1.29.401.11 and the issue is still there
any chance this app could also notify when theres no signal on the phone?
where theres an X by the signal meter?
reason i ask, mine one x sits on X for a good few minutes before asking for the pin code

I also had the same issues yesterday, so it's making me think it is an hardware fault of the HOX and not a radio firmware bug....
About the App, I can not extend it in the near future since I have very few time to dedicate to Android development.. but maybe one day I'll update it with your feature BTW, I hope you like the app and find it useful.
Possible solution
Thank you for the App! It really saved me while I was experiencing this issue.
Here is the possible solution:
1) Dial *#*#4636#*#*
2) Open Phone Info Menu
3) Turn off!!! IMS Registration required
I'm continuing to test if it's permanent solution, but for the last 3 days the issue did not occur.
Hi everyone!
I've had my One X for about a month or so and I'm really enjoying my phone! Although there is one thing that really bugs me! When I want to send a SMS to a new contacts, or call a person, every single contact I have shows up. That means both Google, Facebook and SIM contacts. The funny thing is, they only show up in the "Phone" app and the "SMS" app contacts list. If I manually go to "Contacts" app, then only the SIM-contacts show up. I really only want my SIM contacts showing up there.. Is there any way of working out this problem? Here's a picture showing the problem: imgur-dot-com/ZxEGo
Thanks in advance!

You can "manage" contacts at: on your phone, go to People, select Menu (3 dots on top right) and select "Manage contacts". There you will find options for "De-duplicate contacts" & "Merge contacts". Use Merge contacts if you have multiple accounts synced.
Additionally you can go to each contacts and "Edit" and link them to their duplicate entry.
Hope this helps.

That is in the People app, not the Phone app.
Unfortunately there is no way to remove these additional numbers unless you disable contact syncing from within Facebook. It's especially annoying when someone changes there number but doesn't update it in Facebook. You then end up two numbers for one contact and don't know which one is correct

Why not just phone or text from people? You can set it to show whatever contacts you like. Long press whoever you want to phone or text and bobs dad pumped your gran.

How do you remove the error message "A large number of text messages are being sent. Press OK to continue or Cancel to stop"
Is this gone with custom ROMs (I'm on stock). This is really frustrating and coded really poorly. I have to send a text message, WAIT, and if I click anywhere other than "OK" it auto-cancels my message. I have to repeat this for every text message until my rate of texting slows down. Aarrrggghhhhh Google!!!!!!!
Surely this must be the 1000th thread on this but I just spent an hour searching on my phone and couldn't find a definitive solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What device are you using? what is your build number? there are many g-nex variants, this information helps understand your problem.

This is completely different than what the OP is having troubles with.
To my knowledge none of the custom ROMs have removed the built-in limit on sending text message rate.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Ah so the custom ROMs dont' have this problem? How do I turn it off on stock? Drives me crazy.
You'll only be able to override this limit if you can build your own
version of the Android platform with updated settings built-in, or can
get root access to the devices you're using in the field.
Either way, you can alter the SMS rate-limiting as follows:
# sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/
settings.db
To increase the number of SMS messages allowed per period:
sqlite> INSERT INTO gservices (name, value) VALUES
('sms_outgoing_check_max_count', 101);
Or, more simply, to remove the period check altogether:
sqlite> INSERT INTO gservices (name, value) VALUES
('sms_outgoing_check_interval_ms', 0);
However, I'd be more inclined to find a way to not send so many SMS
messages (assuming you can't simple use a data connection). Surely
you can batch multiple answers into a handful of SMS messages? If
it's a simple multiple choice questionnaire, then you could even fit
the entire session into a single SMS.
Anyway, hopefully that helps.
Regards,
Chris

So this isn't your typical "my autocorrect is messed up" sort of thread, this is some genuine weirdness. I'll post screenshots if you'd like in a followup message, but since I'm having trouble with this word on my phone, I'm posting from my computer.
This all started when I tried to type "forehead" into my phone, and it corrected to "foread." I then went back to re-type and as I type, here is what's happening:
f-o-r-e-(typing 'h' erases the 'e')-(typing 'e' erases the 'h')-a-d. I asked my fiance to try it on her phone, and the message she sent me shows "foread" on my end, and "forehead" on her end. I went so far as to add "forehead" to my phone's dictionary, which took some creative backspacing, and it will now sometimes let me type it, but if I try to erase it, it trips repeatedly over the "H" and "E" while erasing.
Again, if you would like to see screenshots, I'll gladly provide them. But I'm really hoping someone else out there can either duplicate, or explain this issue. I understand autocorrect fixing OUTBOUND messages, but I have no context by which to understand INBOUND messages being changed.

It was the font, you're my personal hero right now because I really thought I was losing my mind. For reference, here's what I'd tried:

I've still not nailed down exactly which font gave me the issues, but on emui5 I was using ifont, which worked seamlessly. You can still use it, but it'll place an .hwt file in /storage/emulated/0/HWThemes for each font you install. Then I just move them over to /storage/emulated/0/Themes and they show up as a theme in the theme chooser app.
