Hi, I've recently got myself a new Hero and I've liked the experience so far, but I'm one of those scandinavians who has ordered my phone from another EU country and find myself not having English (swedish/norweigan/danish/etc) as a locale choice when starting up the phone for the first time, which forces me to download the subpar scandinavian keyboard and wordlist from the market.
Are there by any chance some friendly scandinavian hero user out there who could share a factory resetted scandinavian nandroid backup? It would help me, and probably many others quite a bit!
Be my Hero!
I were in the same situation as you.. ordered my Hero from another EU country and wanting it to suggest Danish words in the dictionary.
After numerous attempts of putting a scandinavian nandroid backup on it, I realized that the roms on a Hero bought in Denmark and one bought in England are identical.. never figured out where they made it act English though.. but found another solution.
CustomLocale.apk is an application referenced within one of the threads in this sub-forum, and it allows you to force your phone into another language. For me it altered both my wordlist but also 2/3rds of my menus became Danish.¨
Apparently CustomLocale.apk is shipped with the Android SDK, loaded on the dev-rom .. so you can either extract it from there, or google it.

I guess that could work, but I still want the phone to be in English, just need to be able to get the English (Swedish) option when changing locale/language - so it uses a Swedish dictionary and such. A scandinavian nandroid backup should be enough for that right, and probably easier too? Should be like any other Swedish-bought phone after you've restored that backup I assume hm.. Just need a nandroid backup though.
I tried restoring my English bought Hero with a nandroid backup from a Danish bought Hero.. no luck.
CustomLocale.apk has multiple options for Danish .. where only one of them also replaced the menus.. reckon it's the same for swedish.
Would you be kind enough to upload the Danish nandroid backup here, so that we can have a look at it? Thank you.

Hi everybody,
i m , thinking about buying a HTC diamond with windows mobile because i need a cellphone with chinese system to write messages etc.... importing from china takes a long time and is more expensive so i need you help. my last cellphone was a chinese nokia so everything was ok i can use chinese interface;
I took a look on the forum i saw the differents threads but informatic is a bit weird for me, the guy from the cell phone shop told me that i need to install a rom 6.1 for chinese language but when i saw some post it seems that there is a lot of differents roms some without pinyin or other stuffs. so i download one but i m not sure that it will work.
So ask you guys a question, is there one rom which is totally chinese i mean i need to use chinese pinyin 羅馬拼音 simplified or traditionnal chinese. Hqs one of you tried one particulary good ? and can give me a link to download it ?
Thank you everybody for the work you are doing and for helping me

hi,
i'm making a little Up, because i really need to know
thank you very much
Aya
you can download some chinese rom from www.592ppc.com
you also can install ce-star to get chinese support
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418738
Is this what you're looking for? Rom with a chinese interface?
If it's just chinese sms/emails and such, just install CE-star. You should have the disc in the box.
I just use CE-Star(it came with the phone) to write/read Chinese character, I think it does have PinYin supported as well.
And for interface, I tried Diamond TF3D config (which can be easily found on this website) and change the interface to traditional Chinese without any problem, though I am more used to the English interface.

Hi all,
I am new here and I have been snooping around. This is a great forum.
anyway, So on tuesday I recieved my rogers HTC touch diamond with a 3 year term extension. The phone came in WIMO 6.1 FRENCH. I was a bit pissed because I'm pretty sure that I specifically asked for the english version. After reading another forum post, it seems another user ran into this issue with rogers. they don't seem to carry the phone in english.
I wanted to return the phone but then i stumbled upon xda developers and hard spl'ed the phone and loaded new roms on it. the thing runs pristine now. I am in love with this phone. I do want to keep it but I dont want my 3 year lock-in with my carrier.
So, I was wondering if anyone has a dump of the french version rogers rom for the diamond? this way i can revert it back to manufacturing defaults and return it within my 30 day trial window and then just buy one BNIB off ebay or someone off howard forums.
can anyone help me out here?
I also got a French ROM on my Rogers Diamond. They do have english versions as well though. If you do a search you will find a link to the english Rogers ROM.
My guess is that they would not check if the ROM was supposed to be french or english. They would just check that it is a stock ROM and spl.
Check this thread for the English version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455347
To restore back to orignal state,
1) Flash the OS ROM
2) Flash the original radio
3) Flash the original splash screen
4) Finally, use the Soft-SPL method to change the HardSPL to the original Rogers SPL
5) Return it

thanks for the reply. I hope you are right about them not checking.
the contents of the box have french documents. I hope that they dont clue in
well I guess I'll give that a go. I hope they they dont charge me the $200 policy for used or damaged returns. but if they do its worth not having to lock-in for 3 years.

If you just want to input and read Chinese (but have an English language device) you can do what I do. I use Atom's ROM CHT with Manila 2.1 and additional PlumSIM 6.1 for both simplified and traditional input and it works great. Alternatively you can download the full Traditional Chinese version (everything is in Chinese) from HTC Hong Kong using my serial number HT989LL00828. If you want to input Simplified Chinese you still have to get PlumSIP.
Finally you could get CE-Star. But I am having problems with the display in some programs and the onscreen keyboard is tiny, so I prefer above solutions.
thx, guys. I've already found the chinese.cab, and the chinese input~~
can you share which .cab file you download? Thanks!
in this , http://ricky119.com/chinesesupport/ ,you can find many useful resource , Chinese(Asia Language) support for Non-Chinese ROM , i suggest you choose the one can support Chinese PinYin Seek in dial panel ,this is important and very very helpful .
as friend #5 said , it just support "input and read Chinese " only , i think is's enough
but if you want a 'chinese language WM device ' , i surmise you can't find it here ,you would find it in any chinese website ,such as pdafans , 52dopod...etc
Dear All,
Sorry donno whether is this the correct forum to post in, but i have recently digged up my Diamond and wanted to pass it along for my mom (in Singapore) to use, as she is only Chinese educated (she couldnt read eng), can anyone point me in the right direction of where can i find custom chinese rom (meaning all wording in chinese (not just writing chinese)?
I tried searching this forum and some chinese forum, all only pointed me to HTC website for 2.03 official rom, but as they need the serial no (mine is a SG set), they would not allow me to download.
Can some good soul point me to any source which either can download a custom cooked chinese rom or a place where i can download the official HK chinese rom without the serial?
PS. I went to the official treat that list the HK rom but that is 1.93 and also its rapidshare which no longer valid anymore.
Thanks in Advance.
Warmest Regards

I like to use English OS in my diamond,I come from CQ.
thanks to bro help, i have sucessfully flash the china (chinese) (21890) 6.5 titanium 2.1 clean OS on the diamond, cool was pretty fast and low mem usage abt 54% - 57%
and the full screen chinese wrting and the chinese wording for 90% of the icons are cool, my mom now starting to learn to use this phone, breathing new life to my diamond.
the only strange thing is there is no connection wizard to setup the phone network, it will assume you are using either china mobile or china unicom? hence my nodata will not work... cos no data couldnt detect any data connection hence have an error, i have to call singtel to deactivate all GPRS (incl MMS) services to my mom (my 2nd line) line.
Anyway one knows where can i download the network connection wizard cab?
Thanks in Advance.
thanks all bro,
i managed to find a standalone cab for the connection wizards
Hi there!
well, i don't have a motorola defy, but my sister is gonna have one soon, and we're kinda worried. my sister isn't exactly that good at foreign languages, and won't accept anything else than danish (our native language).
we ordered it from a site that apparently shipped it from uk or something, and it didn't say anything about supporting danish- can anyone tell me if it supports danish out of the box, or if we have to update it ? i'd really appreciate it, and so would my sister
You have to give us the mod version in settings>aboutphone. Without that, we can't give you an answer...
So, you ask it to vendor or you're ready to flash Defy with our advices when you'll receive it in case you'll not have danish language.

Is there any way we can find out without opening the box ? it's because the site that we ordered from have a bad return policy, or else i just misinterpreted something. and i don't know if we can return it :/ (it's an online retailer)
Yes, on the Defy box, normally there is a sticker with the phone identification (IMEI, ...). And there is a table with countries where device may be operated, so languages of these countries are included.
On the site it said that it supports english, german, spanish, french. But that's with android 2.1. Does 2.2 have danish as default?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Can someone PLEASE tell me, if it supports danish after updating it to android 2.2 ? quick reply would be greatly appreciated !
Probably not; if danish language isn't supported by this Eclair version, no chance in official Froyo update...
But, after backuping initial ROM (for guarantee, in case...), you can flash with 3.4.2-177 Nordic Froyo (very good ROM), it has danish !
