To all participants in these forums:
I want convey a HUGE THANK-YOU to all of the contributers to these forums.
A couple of months ago I decided it was time to replace my IPAQ 4150 for something with a bit more functionality. As I was researching what my next device would be, I stumbled across xda-developers.com and my decision was made. I decided on the i-mate pda2k specifically becuase all of the hard work done by the people here meant that I would no longer have to wait for the vendor to issue upgrades and I could customize my device to MY requirements!
After having read most of the Blue Angel Upgrading threads, and the wiki (about 20 times) I've managed to perform a number of upgrades and cook a half-decent extended rom. (naturally I screwed it up a couple of times, and had a brick for about a week but I managed to recover after having read many of the "help-me" threads)
A special thanks to MDAIIIUser, TheLastOne, HappyGoat and a few others (you know who you are) for contributing so much of their time hacking and converting roms, troubleshooting extended rom issues and also for being so incredibly patient and helpful when answering questions from newbie's like myself.
I look forward to being a contributer to this community and I hope that I can bring 1/10th of the value to the forum that many of you bring every day.
So, once again - Thank-you to all!
.... and you didn't have to ask one question????
Fortunately, the mistakes I made were similar to those made by many before me. Most of the information I needed to repair the brick I had created was available in the threads.
Now I see that i-mate has released the 1.40 rom so I hope all of my effort and frustration wasn't for nothing!

Can you point out where, or the link to, the 1.40 rom is???
Thanks,
Tom
I think I saw someone say they were uploading it to the ftp site.
Try here.
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Blueangel/
Please let me know how it works out. I'm curious to see what's in the extended rom.
you know, I am sorry to hijack the thread somewhat, but I need to say thanks also, I did ask one question, but "search" led me to may answers, I have given a few things back to this site, but I do plan to add more, so... Thanks everyone...
You are all very welcome...I do this as a hobby, and appreciate the positive feedback..!
I just thought I'd take a moment (one previously spent fiddling with my phone) to say well done and thank you to both Tom_Codon and meschle. Which ever flavour of ROM you've decided to put on your device I'm sure you'll agree that it has breathed new life into it.
I for one feel as if I just got a new phone. I haven't soft reset since Friday (which is a shame as I do like my animated splash screens), all my apps are set up, my home screen is just the way I like it....... so what do I do now?
Congratulations guys your efforts are much appreciated and I for one look forward to finding something more constructive to do with my time than hard-resetting my phone (well for a week or two anyway).
Cheers
Matt
I totally agree with you!
It's really amazing what these guys have created.. I don't know what would make my phone better than now. It's nearly perfect, just as I need it as my constant companion.
In this way, thanks mates..
lets be careful though
.....come on guys, I know the likes of Tom and Meschle are fantastic guys - with a lot of skill....but lets not make their heads TOO big....lol
If we big them up too much HTC might hear about them and take them away from us

I think Tom and many other cooks etc are well able to beef up the skills in HTC etc, but would not last long there.
Tom likes to produce new roms every month, but will be told 'that feature you just cooked is fantastic. We can sell that as the the new feature in next years model. We dont release new features unless we can sell them with hardware'

Thanks matt - this is encouraging Lets not forget fracoon - hope you finish your rom soon your beta is very promising
Well, I only know this forum for 2 weeks, but I could say that I am really impressed of the great work done on these ROMs.
I can't imagine the amount of work it is, but for sure the result is amazing
I'd like to put my 2 pennies in as well...
Thanks guys, tom meschle, fracoon and who ever else there is... i've had my xda orbit for a while, had other xda's b4, and work with loads of xda's, but since joining this forum, my xda has hit another level...
the time and effort u guys put in, my hat goes off to u guys... ive bin trying to cook my own rom, but failed miserabley, but i'll keep trying... im sure uguys will help
thanks again guys...
I can see a new MTV show coming soon; Pimp My PPC
Bunch of Cordon Bleu chefs in the kitchen taking some sad old OEM XDA and cooking away until voila! A new pimped-up device handed over to the poor ole charity case that will be able to now proudly be seen once more down the pub with his mates (a position for me I think )
Respect Gents, you make a good product so much better
Thanks to all
I also wish to thank all the people, who make ROMs and which happen to be much better than the original one.
This forum is a knowledge base for those who owns Pocket PCs. At times it is better than the manufacturers' support pages. To those who have created the Cook ROMS, you guys has shown a thing or two of how to make a ROM stable. Keep the good work.
If i can i would give 1000 Stars to the xda forum!!!
Is is the best i personally know and i deeply hope from the bottom of my heart that out friends like tom_condon and coolgadget come back.
There are only a few people kicking at the the forum - and most of us live the right spirit of the forum!!!
I think that it is interesting to buying a htc thanks to this forum because with original roms does not work well. 1000 stars to xda. We have new phones thanks to developers of the forum.
RESPECT
I absolutely agree with macguffin.
I've had tom's bb3.7 and 4.0, and I was totaly amazed! Until I join the xda forum I had my device with slow wm5, but now THANKS TO LOCAL GUYS I have brand new Artemis - I couldn't even imagine anything like this before. Now I have Meschle's ROM(seems better for me). I'm also sad that a lot of "internet newbies"(don't know how to search and ask) comes here but heads up guys...it's everywhere. I think if we stick together we can make this forum better!
Thank to all of you here who spend your nights with pimping our devices. You show me new way of using my phone. I don't wanna call your names because I know there are a lot of members who want to share their knowledge - no matter how they are skilled.
I'm sorry for my english, it probably isn't too good to describe my feelings.

Thanks to the chefs. Also many thanks to the developers who make the tools, which make these ROM's possible, thanks to Bepe, Pof, A_C, Gullum and NNcuong to mention just a few.
i am using B&B v3 Ger - Rom on my XDA orbit
and its much better than the original wm6. i love it!
hopefully soon the ger version of 4.1 will come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hiya everybody!
I would love if someone could give me directions on where I can get good ROMs for flashing my brand new Artemis...
I'm brazilian, but I'm looking for a ROM in english with the best functions that people could get together....
I'm totally new to modding in here, tho I'm sorta pro in modding Motorola's MotoMING phone (my last one)
So if anyone could help me with directions of a newbie guide, I'd be glad....
I could write a newbie guide myself later on....when I lose the newbie status LOL
Check here for tips http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=362
There are also quite a number or ROMs in there too.
Although I would definately recommend this one.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365312 .. great speed, very light so you can add all your own apps and customize it how you like. Generally speakingm, after flashing alot of ROMs to my Orbit, I tend to stick with Meschle's ROMs and usually stick to his latest Vanilla. Although as I say there are alot of others, depends what your looking for from the ROM.
Any other questions Id be glad to help. I also have quite a collection of prgrams n customiations n stuff if your looking anything.
Thanks a lot for the hand!
It surely will come handy! I got the USPL to go over the CID locking system....
The carrier problem can be solved by the carrier itself, at least nowadays.....
To tell the truth, I'm in need of some tutorials on the best programs to have, what kind of stuff fits well in it...
I work with game design, and I'm starting to develop on python....I was wondering if there is anyway to run python programs in it too...
Last but not least, how much knowledge is necessary to work with Artemis?!?!!? LOL
Hmm unfortunately I dont do programming n such, i think you probably be better off asking those questions in the artemis developement / hacking section
If you were to develop Pocket PC applications, you may use eVC (free) or VS2005/8 (more expensive)
No idea about pythons.
How much knowledge? Probably nothing or as much as it is needed to read english. All you need is to experience and experiment to learn.
Regards,
Carty..
@fubofo
Thanks for answering again, man! I know that not everyone is a fan of programming stuff....
I got the ROM you said you were using and I'm gonna flash it today...hope it works and I don't end with a 15 hundred bucks brick....
@Carty
When I said knowledge, I ment time spent studying stuff made for it and etc...but still the ability to read english is way too complex for some people in my country....
I'll take a look at the eVC and see what can be done in it....
I have Eclipse's SDK and Visual Studio 2008 here....any of them is good for it?
Just wanted to say this is the BEST site on the net I know of for everything there is to know about HTC's like my 8125.My first post here was a dumb question that I had.It only took a few minutes to find perfect answer for it.I've only been playing around with upgrading my phone to WM 6 for a few weeks. When I came to this site...That has changed.I want to learn as much as I can about my 8125.I would like to replace the housing myself when I feel that I can do it myself. So that's it...Thanks to all mods and members for tons of info.
LOL
Glad there was already a thread for praise.
I had an Apache for quite a while before I learned just how amazing that phone could be. Now, I'm on to my Titan & am loving it. If I had to use the phone in its stock form, I'd probably hate it. With what I've learned the phone can do, I love it... and what I've learned, I've largely learned here.
XDA-Dev is fabulous.
Thanks to all!!!!
Welcome to Paradise! And of course Happy Flashing to all the new members!!
I Agree
What can I say...
This site is awesome, however I have also found that you get back what you put in.
Still consider myself a relative newbie but working on that thanks to XDA Developers
i've recently read an article about mobile phones and the scene in a local computer magazine and xda-devs was mentioned as the legend, bible, and all those super-uber-extra-mega praises.. ^^
Without Xda-Dev my diamond would be dead (or maybe just sold
Just have to sign up to thank you guys.
I have been five year Palm but had to jump due to a move to 3G Japan.
After two days I was about to smash my Diamond into little pieces, it was so unresponsive compared to my Palm.
Then I stumbled onto this site and was reminded why it is I chose winmobile, despite it being spawned from the beast.
It's because of you guys, the hackers and tweakers, tirelessly tinkering until perfection. If it wasn't for the tweaks and the utlities (like gsen) my diamond would still be a source of frustration than the delight it has become.
Once I get my finances in order I am definitely going to paypal some cash somewhere. I would super keen to donate to anyone making a system font manager, something that can cleanly link and unlink fonts.
Richie
This is one great site, it is a wealth of info and has got me on my marry way so I thought i best say thanks before I left
THANK YOU
Hello everyone,
I would like to give some feedback on my experience with cutstom rom's available for the rhodium.
First of all, I want to thank all people on this forum who are kindly providing their work and time. thanks to all of you guys
I was looking for a custom rom in order to get something that isn't on the last wm 6.5 official/stock rom : speed (i'm using a french/european version of the rhodium)
Because many people on many different forums told me that I had to try those custom rom's, that they are much better in pretty much each aspect, I tought "let's give it a try"
So, I came here and, since the last 2 months, I tried barely each "energy" rom's (those one's who seemed to be the most downloaded/popular) but also some other ones.
Actually, I am kinda disappointed. As a matter of fact, I think i didn't get out one single positive point from the whole experience.
For example, I can't even tell you how much business calls I missed, don't even want think about it.
ROM's I tried are slower, more bugged in a general way, and poor "amateur-style" designed (last point which is logic, but has to be said) than the last stock/original HTC wm 6.5 (european) rom
As a consequence to what, I strongly diss-recommended to any professional user to try anything here while he has to use the device to earn money : it's a very very bad idea.
For me, technically, a big part of the problem comes from rohdium's hardware which is simply to low to run wm 6.5 smoothly, no matter how you try, it's not doing it / end of the story
Now, I got back to the stock wm 6.1 rom which runs..normaly
Sometimes there's a lag in a menu, but I can go on with that..at least I'm not loosing money anymore.
Finally, I'm not saying all of this in order to start a flame war but only to spare time to the professional user who needs his rhodium to work with : if you read me, just stick to the wm 6.1 stock rom, it is definitely the best option you have

Its based on user preference. I used to like Energy, but now in my opinion its just slow, overloaded junk. I used to think the same until I found Valkyrie. From there I was a fan of that ROM. However, the chef left so now I make my own ROMs. Just to make sure, have you tried Valkyrie, WCX Iluminati, Simplicity, Eden or even mines (in my sig)? I talk to the Wild Child (the WCX chef) and I know he takes pride in his ROMs and they are rock solid. I have tried them before. Try his, try mines, and try the ones I gave you on the list. See if you like any.
If not, maybe you like Sense 2.1 ROMs with 6.1. There is chefs cooking that around here. Look around. There is way more chefs and better selection than when I first started with my Rhodium.
If you want speed and reliability from a cooked ROM, you need to try Ondraster's LBFAR ROMs. They are definitely the cleanest ones in the forum.
Yeah the reason that my dad and I use a custom rom (valkyre) is because we want to miss a lot of calls.
Come on, I use my phone for business everyday and I never have problems that you descripe. What did you expect then? That when you are messing with the software, all your problems will be solved?
I agree that some roms are more stable and faster then other roms. But that's the choice that you make when using them.
Some people are just not made for driving a car, maybe you are not made for flashing...
One last thing, change your topic title, it's not feedback it's flaming.
That's not flaming, that's giving advice. And it's (generally) good advice. Flashing ROMs is fun, tinkering with settings and mods etc. is fun. That's probably why a lot of us have stuck with WM for so long.
But my experience with flashing ROMs is pretty similar to the OPs. Fun, but ultimately most have too many bugs, quirks, and so on for people who don't use their mobile device as a toy. Also, the claims that this ROM or that ROM gives some great performance boost is mostly bunk. These speed gains are mostly imaginary.
Time after time, with every device I've had, I ultimately find that the closer to stock the phone is, the better it performs. That's not a flame on the chefs out there, I have a lot of admiration for them, and whenever I get a new phone I can't resist the urge to flash lots of ROMs and tinker, tinker, tinker. After a few months, though, when my phone becomes a tool rather than a new toy, I invariably go back to nearly stock.
On my Tilt 2, I'm running the "official" new Tilt 2 ROM (the one with Sense 2.5) and Cookies Home Tabs, and that's basically it.

comon i know you're pissed because you loosed the world cup ^^
(--> u see the difference ? that was a flame)
no seriously, don't be pissed i'm giving my point of view it's all.
besides, take it for what it is but i'm a system engineer..I think flashing a pda is counting within the things I can do
sure i didn't test them ALL..but like 20 of them.. after that, it's only a matter of time..
and this thread is because, now my estimation is that I spend enough time trying..
maybe i could point out "the professional user who doesn't want to spend 4 months searching around" ..ok ok u got it xD
but i think u got also what i meaned
