Re: Unable to adjust BT headset volume - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Re: Unable to adjust BT headset volume
Dear All,
So sorry to trouble you all, but I have a issue with my bluetooth headset's volume when connected to my TP2.
I used two of my BT headsets. They are namely Jabra's BT3030 and SE's HBH-IS800.
Both keep indicating that the volume cannot be adjusted and that I have to use the controls of mt headset to do so.
However my HBH IS800 does not have any volume control. Thus I am unable to adjust the volume.
Any solution? Most appreciate your help and assistance over this matter. Thank you
Regards,
Peter

UPDATE: Just called HTC and they have noted the problem. They would be coming up with a hotfix for it.
Hopefully soooooooon

Is there any solution for this problem yet?

No fix yet?

BT headset/handsfree profile - this might improve quality

Hi all,
I swapped my old O2 G2 BT headset for the new O2 one and have to say I noticed little improvement. I even upgraded to the 3900 build of the stack but no difference. However I then gotta thinking....
By default the profile being used was hands-free, but I seemed to remember the XDA2 using only headset. So - I found that by holding the -vol button for 15 secs I could register it as a headset profile (the XDA2s cannot use any of the hands-free bits anyway - voicedial etc etc).
Well, the audio quality is improved and the range appears to be better. It is still not perfect (or as good as it was on the XDA2) but it is now useable.
I am going to test for the week before I decide if I shall get a refund or not.
Cheers - Rich
Hi Rakh!
Where can I get the BT3900?
Thanks!

the -vol button on the side?
When did you do that? - it doesn't seem to do anything on mine??
Thanks

Hi, yes the -vol button on the side. Switch it off (red light) wait 5 secs and then hold the -vol button for 15 (yes fifteen) seconds!

Hi,
Nope - still doesn't seem to do anything on mine. Either i'm doing something wrong or it only works on the xdaIIs and not the M2000 (they are suposed to be the same hardware but it might be a software thing).
Thanks anyway,

-vol button on the side of the O2 BT headset - not the XDA2s
Sorry for the confusion but I didn;t figure out what you were doing unitl now
Rich
Ahhhhh - doh!
Thanks for clearing that up.
I have a Jabra BT250 - and yes I was using the vol- on the phone
--ian
Jabra phones default to the headset program. Holding in the +Volume button on the headset while setting up for pairing turns on the optional Hands-free profile. This is just hte opposite of what the original post was about. The original poster had a G2 headset which defaults to Hands-free, but can be forced to Headset Profile.
Hi,
So what's the difference between headset and hands free?
--ian
Hands-free enables support for voice dialling etc etc etc. Headset simply allows you to use the mic and earpiece of the headset. I presume that the added functionality of the hands-free protocols take some of the 'bandwidth' from the voice part of the protocol and as a result exagerate the bad sound quality...???

Jabra headset
Hi to everyone!
I'm a Jabra user myself but I can't seem to enjoy the last number called redial feature with my XDA2 device (with ROM by Dr. Stein).
Any suggestions on how I can use this feature?
Thank you very much!
i have a motorola HS850.
it defaults to handsfree
anyone knows how to force it to headset?
it used to work such that when I open the boom on an incoming call, the call will automatically be answered.
now it doesnt work that way..
it just waits for either the bluetooth action button or the green answer button on xda iis to be pressed..
i have downgraded by BT [ recently upgraded to 3900 ] back to 3500 and the Motorola HS850 can auto answer whenever the boom is opened..
Guess 3900 is not perfect anymore
My HS850 works fine with BT 3900
Perfectly clear. Not tried switching handsfree to headset tho.
jabra bt 250
i m using a JAbra bt 250 and a qtek 9090..i tried the setting...but dont kno if it worked...in my shortcuts..it says hands-free connction to jabra..but i want it to be headset...coz thers too much of crackling right now..?

AVRCP with A2DP

Well, I just got my stereo bluetooth headset to work with my SX66.....but I can't use the media controls on it (I believe thats called AVRCP).
Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? I'd like to be able to use the media controls on the headset so I don't have to control everything with the SX66.
Same thing here...
I got Jabra BT620s headphones and they sound great with SX66... but only the volume control and start/end call buttons work. Have you found a solution for this?
Thanks

Motorola HT820

Has anyone had issues with the volume control on this headset?
I just got one to go with my 8525. It paired without issue. the music sounds great and calls work without issue as well.
However, I lowered the volume using the buttons on the headset and soon realized that i can not raise the volume. So now the head set is basically useless.
Is this a defective headset or is there some issue with a2dp?
thanks
mine are great

..have used them with HTC wizard and artemis using a variety of roms and they've been pretty flawless. sounds like a fault?

I had tried many roms but still have problem with BT headset. Please help???

First of all, I would like to says big thank to all rom cooker. You all did a very great roms. However, I still have a little problem that annoy me a lot...
I had connected the stero bluetooth headset with Hermes and choose both "Wireless Stero" and "Headset" profiles in bluetooth setting.
Then when there is incomming call, the Hermes will not ring. So I had a lot of miss calls.
However, if I disable the "Wireless Stero" profile in bluetooth setting, the Hermes will ring normally.
I used to use the Prophet before and there is no problem. The Prophet will ring normally although I choose both profiles.
The stero bluetooth headset is the same, iTech Clip Radio.
I had tried on many roms and found the same problem. So I guess that maybe I have to modify the registry setting to enable ringing on "Wireless Stero" profiles. Can somebody help me to solve the problem please???
I have the same issue and assumed that's how it worked since I just got this Jabra BT8040 that supports wireless stereo. It would only ring through my headset when wireless stero was enabled. If there is a way to get the phone to ring also that would be great. Right now I do the same thing as you, disable the wireless stereo until I need to use it.
My guess is this is by design since all sound is routed to stereo headset then so would the ringer. This isn't an issue for me since the Jabra BT8010 I can turn on/off stereo by simply pressing a button on the headset.
Sorry don't know of a solution.
Thinking about it I guess you could use something like mortscript and make a button that turns stereo pairing on/off to make it simpler I dunno.
I have similar issues with the PAYS rom, when listening to music via my BT earpice (Jabra) where you click the answer button on the earpice it then takes the music from the device and plays it through the jabra ONLY for about 5 seconds and then defaults back to the device?
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Control bluetooth headset volume? Sony HBH-IS800

I just paired a Sony bluetooth headset (HBH-IS800) with my Tilt 2 and the volume is quite loud when listening to music. I put media player sound volume down to 5%, apparently the lowest, and it's still very loud. The only other option at that point is going down to 0%, obviously too quiet :-|
Also, the main system volume slider on the side - no effect on the headset whatsoever. Whether it's maxed out or silent - the bluetooth headset is still too loud.
Does anyone have any recommendations on:
1) How to go between <5% and >0% volume on media player?
2) How to get the main volume control to affect the bluetooth headset volume?
3) Any other ideas on lowering the music volume overall? Maybe another (better?) music player could work? Maybe a reg setting I can modify?
Any advice is appreciated - the headset is so cool - I'd love to make it usable!!! - TIA!
-Fnortner
P.S. - I called Sony - their answer: "We don't support the headset unless it's paired with a Sony phone". Boo Sony!
I have the same problem with this headset.
I had it running on the Touch HD with volume control from the device works perfectly.
Is there any solution yet?
same volume control issue with BT8040
With both Media Player or PocketTunes, I am not able to alter the volume on the BT8040, either from the Tilt2, or the earpiece itself.
Never had this problem with the same earpiece and my original Tilt.
Same problem here
I have the same problem. I have a bluetooth set which I connect to FM transmiter. The problem is: Volume is all the way up so the music is horrible, it gets distorted. I'd like to know how to manage the bluetooth volume in the system settings, is there a way? Pushing the left buttons (system volume) wont affect bluetooth volume, neither any other volume control within the settings. Any help appreciated.
I have found a solution that works for me. I use Nitrogen Player and you can just turn the equalizer on and change the preamp level to close to the bottom. Works a treat for me.
Code:
Options -> Settings -> Equalizer.

I have a bluetooth stereo headset and when I pair it it tells me that I can not control the volume from the phone.. any way to fix??

Same problem to me... I listen often to internet radio, but now it's too loud :-(
Same Problem here...
If anyone came up with a solution for this that works native to the ROM (vs just adjusting the eq) post it here, and I'll do the same.

I have a stereo BT headset, and whenever I pair it with my (tmo US) TP2, the phone throws up a standard "you have to adjust the volume from the headset, can't do it from the handset" warning...and when I do use the volume controls on the headset, the volume does adjust accordingly, but without any feedback from the phone (no volume slider or other indication), so the adjustment is obviously happening in the headset's circuitry, and the audio coming from the phone is at a static, un-adjustable level.
From the research I've done, the culprit is the sub-par Widcomm bluetooth stack in the phone, and I haven't yet found anyone who has engineered a replacement stack. I know the possibility exists (I upgraded the bluetooth stack on my Wizard a couple of years ago to get one that had the A2DP profile), but I just don't think anybody has made a replacement for this model yet

Thanks for the reply! My situation is backwards in the sense that the headset doesn't have volume controls - and what I seem to be finding is that there doesn't seem to be an immediate fix for controlling a headset from the phone. I did use a tool called "Advanced Config" to find a default music volume that I can change, so I lowered that from 100 to 50 and now the volume is at least comfortable. However I have no control over it yet....
Could these issues be due to USB 2.0 versus USB 2.1 ?
I got a Motorola H17 (USB 2.1) and everything works perfect. Have volumn control from phone and headset and all audio sources work fine.
Oooops. Meant Bluetooth 2.0 vs Bluetooth 2.1.

Yes, for some reason, the BT stack in this phone seems to assume that all BT stereo headsets also have built-in controls on them and won't allow them to adjust system volume. I think we're probably stuck with that fact until somebody finds a BT stack to replace the TP2's native one.
The best workaround for now may be just to find and use a headset that does have volume controls. I'll be posting a review soon of the ones I have now, the Plantronics/Altec Lansing Backbeat 903's

So when you play music through it, you can control the volume on the handset itself, and with controls on the headset? If so, I'm guessing it's because that's a monaural (not stereo) headset, so it may not be the same volume. My headset has BT 2.1 on it, and while I can control the playback etc on the phone, the volume controls only adjust the headset volume, not the volume on the phone.

This may be true since it is only monaural. The volume control (on the phone) still controls the phone (thus the headset) while the BT control only controls the BT headset.

Good evening,
If it can help you with tcpmp-0. 72RC1 - GF5500Edition - Alpha4. 1 can adjust the volume of this famous helmet HBH-IS800 and it is easier than with nitrogene.
Good evening
Ichtus
if its is supported by only sony phones(BB storm too) then can we get the profile from a xperia and install it on another device
I have seen multiple people state they can adjust the volume both on their headset and on the handset asystem volume. I thought perhaps it was the BT stack EXCEPT I was able to do this as well before I did a hard reset now I cannot adjust the 2 volume controls independently. The handset volume is static. Will someone that can adjust the system volume with a headset compare settings/egistry entries with me?
Is there a way we can adjust the volume of the line out from the bluetooth connection, anyone, lately ive have noticed that most devices are doing this, dont want to revert to a old stack but there has to be a way to combine the headset volume with the bluetooth volume
