[REQ] Data Auto Timeout - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hello,
I've tried searching but can't find anything except for the all singing all dancing tweak programs, so what I would like to know, is there an app that will simply disconnect the data connection after a specific idle time.
Say if the data connection isn't used for 10 minutes, it disconnects.
If there is such an app, could someone kindly point me to it, if not, could some of our gifted members make one? I wouldn't of thought it would be too difficult.
Thanks.

use HDtweak in the stickies at the top of the forum. That has an Auto-Dicsonnect on idle setting.

Thanks for the reply but like I said, I dont want the whole tweah everything program, just something to disconnect the data connection when idle after x minutes.

I understand, but HDTweak doesn't have to tweak every program, it simply gives you the option...if you choose to use the auto disconnect tweak and none of the others that is all that will be tweaked (twunk??)

Exchange Server

Hello there,
I have an exchange server configuration on my Trinity, and i have a strange problem. The device keeps automatically connecting using 3g/gprs, which, besides eating a lot of bandwith drains my battery fast!
Is there a way to prevent this? i have set on activesync the peek and off peak time to conect manualy but it keeps doing it.....is there a way to solve this? like making the device to auto-disconnect after like minute of inactivity? any ideas?!?
Im using the latest indigo_lite rom but i used to have the same problema with other roms.... i didnt on any wm5 rom beucase i got this account a few days ago.
All the best,

"Use above settings when roaming" should be OFF, if you want to disable automatic connecting be GPRS
I've have set is to ON because I do want to check it once every hour at peak times.
Battery is on 80% after a day, that's less battery drain then b4 or with AX3L's ROM, etc.
Hello,
Thanks for you anwser,
I have set all this and still connects from time to time....and it doesnt auto disconnect the gprs/3g connections...this is what is causing the battery drain...
thanks,
OliveiraJMR
Turn off your infrared port. That alone makes a lot of difference.
Hi,
isn't the Roaming option more about data connection when connected to a provider other than yours? A least, this is the way my Trinity behaves. I have this option off and this avoids data connection when I'm out of the country.
As far as I'm concerned, when choosing "manually" for sync schedule, I do not get automatic connection. Maybe some other application doing this (say wheather application or newsreader, browser, etc...)?
This said, I'm usually set up for a sync "as items arrive" and so have a permanent data connection running. Even with this connection I'm down to 26-34mA of energy consumption when Trinity is IDLE and it doesn't take to much bandwith either as it only maintains an https tunnel open without however exchanging data, except when there's something to sync (mail, appointment, contact, etc...).
Bye.
another thing : What's the version of your Radio ROM ? If it's an old version, you might want to consider to upgrade to a 1.46.xx.11 version. Made a big difference for myself.
Disable Push e-mail.
If you want to prevent your device from automaticly dialing up in order to check your email, then you should disable direct-push in your Communication manager.
(of course you loose the benefits of direct push while its turned off)
PS.: There is also a button for disconnecting from data network, this will only work after you turned off direct push.
Hope that was what you were asking for.
Have a nice weekend.
I Found the problem...
I was the weather app that was connecting randomly
Still if i left the connection on it drains my battery fast ?!?! I think i will try another rom or someting

Data connection keeps turning on?

the Data connection is turning on on a regular basis and I can't find any scheduled tasks set up to access the Internet, but some rogue program is? any ideas any one and/or any way I get find out what is causing this.
I have the same problem.. And I'm a little bit tired!
I wrote on this thread with no answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529622
I have a flat data plane but I don't like that PDA face things on his own initiative!!
me neither, I'm in charge - not my new toy! Lets hope someone helps us out this time round.
I had the same problem. In my case the 2 apps connecting to the net were Google Maps and Funambol.

Well, I don't use funambol.. And anyway: there are no program in task manamager! So: something is going wrong with manila..
I had the same 'problem', but my brother suggested to turn it off and on again. It did work as far as I could see.
I think it may be google maps causing this, but I'm not sure (and don't really care, since this 'solution' worked).
Any number of added apps can be doing this (Worldmate live is a bad one for example) or any apps still running and not shut down.
Obvious things to check first are:
Do you have automatic email check set?
Have you disabled auto-update in weather and stock quotes?
This drives me crazy too, afaik I have turned off everything yet it keeps turning on... A fix would be highly appreciated!
its the activesync...
turn it off, i mean, delete the settings and you'll be fine. activesync triggers automatic data sync, hence turning on the data connection
I use ActiveSync and don't have this problem. If it was ActiveSync, why would it cause the problem for some and not others ?

Well.. I tested all day.. And I can say that I solved the problem!!!
I think that last time I closed gmaps.. I answered in a bad way to the question about updating Glatitude..
So: Gmaps seemed close but it was updating my position on the net!!!
When i opened gmaps i could see my avatar in the map.. So i understand that it was still online..
So.. I think I've solved!
Anyway we need a "netstat" on pocket pc...
Thank you for your advices.
Glad you worked it out.
I put this in the developers forum a while back. Maybe someone smarter than me will work out a solution to this sort of problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530634
As with the poster here. You will have an application that you have inadvertently set to autoupdate. The only thorough solution is to go through every program on your phone and check each setting meticulously. Alternatively. Back up your personal data and hard reset. Then reinstall your apps one by one, testing for an hour after each one. Eventually, you will find the offending app and can work on finding the setting in it to stop it connecting to the net.
Hi all,
the thing is there are dozen possibilities: activesync, alle gps-stuff, all auto-updates. So instead off looking up all these settings, you could also use the nodata.cab - works fine (phone need to be unlocked!)
greetz to all
Kjoere
thanks for all the posts, haven't checked for a while. I have checked everything and noting is set to auto update so very strange and annoying. Will try the nodata.cab - if I can find it?

Thank you! That is very interesting.
It also can be the build-in Facebook app in Contacts in manila. It has feature to automaticly update in 2 hours. At least, I had mine turned on as default.
The only reliable and "ultimate" solution is really Modaco NoData as mentioned above.
On the other hand not taking third party apps in count, basic traffic of HTC device is nothing to be scared of. Updates for weather, stocks and A-GPS are just few bytes in size... Obviously, GMaps, mail autocheck, Messenger etc. are different story, but none of these are started on their own... BTW, ActiveSync has nothing to do with Internet with one exception - Exchange mail sync, if you have any.
What you have to understand, is behaviour of the active data indicator (small G, E or H next to signal strength). If it's there does not mean, that any data are transferred at the moment. It just indicates opened data slot with current brodcasting tower in the cell. It could stay opened for hours after trasfer even just of few bytes. It closes usually only for two reasons - your phone switches to another cell (and has no reason to open data slot again) or the tower is busy and closes inactive slots to gain more capacity.
Except few rare cases in some coutries you're charged only for data transferred, not for time of the connection and therefore it doesn't matter. In Europe from 1st of July (some new EU limit) one Mb shouldn't cost more than 50 cents and with these basic updates you will NEVER reach it in one month...
Obviously, roaming is another story, but in settings of the standard services you can limit updates just for your country.

ASK: How to keep "Data Connection", OFF!!!!!!!!!!

How in the crap to i keep this dam phone from switching this on by its dam self? Im sick and tired of it flipping it on whenever a program wants to talk to the Internet or whatever, and Doesnt tell me, ask, me or what ever. I just checked my account and the %$&^#%^& has already used nearly half a MB of data. So, how can i force it, when i turn OFF the Data connections, to STAY OFF until i go back, and turn it back on manually?
Also, Since when does the GPS use data? WTF?
probably using A-GPS ??
anyway, download and install nodata, perfect for your situation
Have you tried the tiny and useful app no-data?

It may have been, i turned it off. I didnt think Agps would use Data, only look for towers, which i thought the dam phones did anyway.
I haven't tried nodata, but ill give it a shot. (long as it doesnt kill my wi-fi)
I think he meant quickGPS, where the phone downloads the gps satellites' information for a faster lock. This does require a connection so it's logical the phone'd be trying to connect. But from what I understand it only needs to download the lists once in a while, not every time you check your position. I even read somewhere that the lists it downloads are good for seven days, which would mean it'd try to connect once a week if that info is correct.
Hi!
It can be the Facebook app, build in the manila. Try to go People -> More -> Actualisation and Events -> Settings and turn off the automatic actualisation of state. I had mine turned on as default.
It also can be a Google maps or any other application that have feature to automaticaly connect to the net.
Hope it will help.
Sry for my english.
Sorry, forgot to report back. Nodata seems to have solved the issue. Sucks it was nessessary. You would think if you turned off Data in the phone settings, it would stay off.
Thanks guys.

The time is not correct.

I have a stock ROM Tilt2 and I am loving it. The best phone yet. However, the clock has been off several times. It happened again today, it said 3:23 PM and it was actually 4:24 PM. I have a cab installed to stop the 1h 2m flip (if it matters). I have figured out that if I turn it to airplane mode and then back to phone, the time updates to the correct time.
Is anyone else having this same issue? And is it a problem with the phone or AT&T?
I've had the problem before. When I had the Touch Pro(Fuze) from at&t but unlocked for Tmobile. and when i first got my Touch Pro 2. i never really figured out what was wrong for the fuze but my tp2 stopped. I noticed it happening when I would unplugg my power that's when it would change time when I had my stock battery. When I changed it to the seidio battery it stopped happening. I don't think the battery has anything to do it but it might have just be a coincident.

I could have sworn there was a setting in activesync somewhere that would let you disable the time sync with the host PC...but I'm digging now and I can't find it anywhere in the menus on the phone or on the PC client.
I wouldn't be surprised though if there's a switch for that in the registry somewhere, I'll see if I can find anything that looks related...don't hold your breath though
Also has happened to me...
I have a Tilt2 stock ROM, and have had this happen several times. In searching these (and other) forums, the only thing that I have seen that remotely resembles this issue is the time zone issue (which I must suffer from as well since my time zone is always reverting to Indiana..I live in Eastern).
The first DAY I got my phone I noticed this time issue, and I chalked it up to an incomplete charge up or something to that affect, however it happened a couple of other times. The time on the phone would be off by some major amount of time (several hours), and it was not just the hour that was off, but also the minutes (so it was not purely a time zone issue).
I could not find anything to MAKE it correct itself, so I manually changed the time to the correct it, but I have not found anything to address this issue. Luckily it only happens every so often, but I would love to find out why...
Happens to me. Hours and minutes off.
If its off by 8 hours, I know to just fix it. If its off by 20 minutes, I'm late to class.
There's an app in the software recommended thread. SynchroTime. It's your only fix. When you see the time is incorrect, run it and it fixes itself. I have no idea why the time isn't synced to Tmobile's servers, or even an option for that.
i have the same issue, on AT&T as well
I am having the same issue on an AT&T phone. I have been all over the phone looking for a place where you tell the phone to sync to network time, with no luck. My laptop was off by four minutes, as well as my phone, so i believe it is an issue with syncing to the laptop, but i would prefer it sync to at&t.
Any ideas?
The only time I have observed TP2 to be off by one or two hours, was after running a GPS program, that was wrongly configured. The GPS application caused also a time change.

Guys, don´t forget to vote!
Yeap has happened to me too. I'm using the stock ROM and it happened many times in the past. Actually what I observed was that the manilla clock was wrong (hours and minutes), while the windows clock was running ok. I have no idea how that's even possible.
I could not find out however the pattern of the above. I'm sure it has to be a manila thing though, cuz now that i have it disabled and using SPB mobile shell I have no similar incidents. It would be nice to know the fix though.

hey guys.. i have this problem too. i have a sprint touch pro 2, and i installed energy rom this morning.
the clock is wrong because the time zone keeps changing to GMT when i live where it's supposed to be GMT +8
here's what i noticed:
1. for example, the exact time here is 8:30am, the phone always changes the time zone to GMT and using my local time, but the minutes are slightly off. (8:19am GMT) So when i change the time zone to +8, it becomes (4:19pm)
2. everytime i sync with my computer, the time corrects itself, and all i need to do on the phone is to change it to the correct time zone, and it's all fine.
3. the time becomes incorrect everytime i restart the phone, or turn flight mode off and back on.
4. when i remove the sim card and turn on the phone without the sim card, the time remains correct!
5. i concluded that it has something to do with the network. i went to settings->phone, and theres something there about time synchronization. unfortunately, i dont know why, but when i disable it on my energy rom, the time still updates.
6. i tried using the same sim on another windows mobile device. i turned on time sync on that device, and when i restarted the device, the time became incorrect also! but on this phone, when i turn off time sync, it obliges, unlike my touch pro 2.
7. the culprit here is the network. the phone syncs with the network's time, which is minutes early, and the time zone is set incorrectly.
why doesnt my touch pro 2 obey when i tell it not to sync time with the network?
i cant text because the time is messed up and the message gets lost in the recepient's mailbox.
i hope this gets resolved soon. i've been searching for a definite fix but i found none.

marv, did you do a hard-reset right after installing that ROM? It's always a good practice, and a hard-reset is what ended up fixing this issue when it happened to me.
Found a solution that works for me
yup.. newly flashed rom.. and i hard reset a lot of times..
anyway.. i found a fix for it! i guess this is what many people around the forum are looking for. for some reason, the time synchronization setting in settings-phone doesnt seem to work.. i dont know why.. so i edited it through the registry..
go here:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL
and anything that says time sync or time zone sync, i changed it to 0. all is well now. and i'm so happy i found a fix myself.

Other than editing your post above to have a title like "Found a solution that works for me", that's all I know of. You could create a new post, but I would probably hold of on that until (if) you hear from other members that your method worked for them as well
oh alright..
this problem ocurs normally when you got your phone set to synchronize the time with your network, problem is that some network don't broadcast the right time sometimes.
you can disable it by looking in phone settings for network time tab and untick the box.
setting vary from from windows builds.
alternatively import the following reg setting to you registry;
HTML:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"NITZEnable"=dword:00000000

[Q] Phone Incorrectly Reads Battery Level

Hey all, I'm in need if some advice/help. My Galaxy S3 seems to be incorrectly gauging how much battery life it has.. For a better explanation, here's a familiar scenario: phone is 100% and will slowly keep creeping down by a percent with little to no use. In a few hours it "dies." If I leave it for a couple of minutes or do something like take the battery out however, it'll have a reading of 36%. I can do this several times in a row! Another instance is say it was at 100% and drops down to 80% in an hour or so. If I leave it in standby the battery level will actually start creeping back up after a couple of minutes.
I have tried these steps and suggestions to combat this problem:
flash to CyanogenMod
buy an extended battery
calibrate the battery with apps
wipe battery stats
I've run out of ideas short of bringing the phone in to T-Mobile and have it replaced. Google searching has turned up pretty fruitless so I'm asking here before I make anymore moves! Thanks for all the anticipated help.
Please do a factory reset and leave just the Rom and Gapps. Nothing else on there for a some time to experiment.
Please install BetterBatteryStats from the Play Store. Make sure to enable Root Features from under settings >Advanced Settings > Enable Root Features checkbox.
Next reboot the phone and then leave it alone for some time. Preferably overnight. In the morning, hit the Share button in upper right corner of the app. Choose text as the output format. It will save a text log in /SDCARD folder. Attach that here.
ok I will try this
Currently letting my phone run the tests. Just out of curiosity I have noticed something funny already. With 55m 49s on battery, it says Wi-Fi has been running the whole time (100% ratio), and I definitely have Wi-Fi turned off.

There are variety of reasons. Please Turn off Google Location Reporting.
Please post a log as I described before.
Here's the log from BBS
Are you sure you turned off Google Location Reporting ? If not then do so first. If you had done so, please turn off location service all together.
Under Settings >Wireless>Advanced, do you have "Keep Wifi on during sleep" set to never ? Also uncheck Scanning always available. Lastly what's the deal with your calendar ? Do you have so many events on there ?

You most certainly have some Location Service going on. Please check again. You will need to wipe data for Calendar and then sync it just the one time with Google Account.

This looks pretty good. Please get the app called "Kill Mediaserver" and use it as the name says. If possible, copy everything from the external sd card onto a pc, format that card to FAT32, then copy everything back to the card.
You do realize, you have Google Now. Please understand it will have a hit on battery. So long you are aware of this, keep it. Otherwise freeze it. Earlier in this thread, @Karpfenhai has posted a mod for Google Play service. Use it please.

It may or may not. I do not recommend Greenify as the principle it operates on is flawed in my opinion.
