best video player for touch hd - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hi;
I was searching a good video player for my hd, and it seems that there is no such player because of the accelerator issue. There was some rumours that coreplayer will release a special edition for hd, but there is nothing about it on official web page. So, I was wondering, do you all convert your videos and wait about 30 minutes to watch it on hd in reasonable quality or is there a good player? By the way a need a video player that supports subtitle.
Thanks a lot and sorry for possible mistakes in my english.

Hello mate,
When it comes to videoplayers on PPC i think Coreplayer is be the best choice. You dont even have to encode your video to another codec/format. Coreplayer plays my dvdrip's (Xvid) movies perfect and smooth on Touch HD.
If you want subtitles on your video you should use Mp4ForHD and encode the movie with srt-subtitles. It works very well with the integrated videoplayer which supports mp4.
Try these settings if you want to encode you video:
608x256
~1100 Kbit/s (bitrate)
Audio: mp3/mpga/Acc
Madswk

wmp because it has has hardware support
coreplayer because it can take everything out of the box

Maybe it's just me but the playback in coreplayer skips frames sometimes and isn't really as smooth as i'd want it to be. At least that's the case with xvid videos. Any idea how I could get it to run smoother? Currently running Dutty's 3.9XT Turbo.

CorePlayer is damn good nowadays, their new 1.3.6 is really wonderful for movies now, everything runs so smooth and I rarerly see any skips.

damned, another new version already
1.36 coreplayer
I have to agree, coreplayer plays even 700MB Avi files without conversion or anything else. just play from SD Card

Why shouldn't it work? Have worked on both VGA and WVGA for me so I don't see a problem with the HD. Download the trial and try it.

That's really strange, the software is all same as Topaz except bigger screen and that shouldn't affect. Are you on a custom ROM or something? Possibly WM6.5?

Yes, I'm on the latest wm6.5 manila 2.5.1. Coreplayer 1.32 works fine though.

I have HTC HD and it works with CorePlayer 1.3.6

will have to try this out!

What rom are you running?
I've tried the cab version as well as pc .exe version and neither install. The cab just says unable to install and running the .exe comes up with an error saying that the device attached is not supported? How did you get yours installed?

I have it installed on my HD.Version 1.3.6 Build 7427 and it works excellently!
I have my shipped rom and radio.

so everything runs smooth now with CorePlayer 1.36? because i'm still running 1.3 and it even skips frames on 170 MB xvid clips. Must say it's quite annoying to be forced to encode everything to *.mp4 only to watch a smooth clip/film.

I dont think it is because of 1.3.6. It is more on what kind of video you want to play

can anyone give a link for the latest version. im running WM 6.5.

Yes, so I realize. I'm referring to xvid video. The filesize doesn't really make any difference, it will still skip frames every few seconds.
Now I'm not sure if it's the phone that can't handle the xvid files or if it's coreplayer. Some mentioned that the videos are alot smoother in v1.3.6, and i simply wanted to know if that is the case.

I tried alot of different movies and music videos but they don't show to good.. So I was wondering is there anyway to get movie or videos playing better on the Dash?? Is there a app or something I could use to play movies better?? I mean I tried .wmv, .avi, .3gp and none of they all played pretty lousy...
Besides TCPMP because I tried installing it and it said "Unsuccessful because it wasn't made for my phone" and I don't know if it was because I used the wrong one or what..

Try istalling the TCPMP/Player in my YouYube WizzStar thread, the download is located in post # 1, that one is beefed up a little and should give you very good video resolution quality. Install it too your SD card. It will work on the Dash, I know that already! Let me know how things work out for you.......!

.mp4 is the best to use to recode good quality films for dash @ 320 x 240, just keep the bitrate low, mono sound about 92kbps will keep the size down.
You can use SUPER © http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html it's free.
I use A-One FLV to AVI as i use it for YouTube but will encode any file to .mp4.
Consider using 3gp format. The quality is good and the file size is small. There are a number of 3gp converters available.
thanks
im interested in quality and speed not the mb
thanks guys
well. i converted a video with that program "super" to mp4 and it works very crapy and slow
can somewone please tell me exact the format file, video format, sound format, rezolution exactly for the videos to convert ?

The MB will play a big factor in quality as the larger the file the harder it is for the Dash to read the ammount of data to frames.
Anyway .mp4 is the best mobile codec.
320 x 240
Lower the bitrate and keep the fps the same as original source.
Already commented on sound.
Oc'in your device will also help with playback and having a good media player on Dash?

Well don't use a frog but TCPMP will do it, you will want your vid's in .mp4 to which there is loads of software available for mobile conversion online Super © is a free one.
The trick is to keep the file size down you can do this via mono sound as the speaker on phone is mono and keep the bitrate down and also keeping the bitrate down on the video.
Hope this helps it is covered in other threadz on here.
there is an alternative , divx mobile . http://www.divx.com/mobile/requirements.php
average size when using divx converter for a full length movie is ~ 200 - 250 mb.
using it on my htc s621 , flashed with kavana's 6.1 rom .

RMVB on Excalibur. Does it work?

I´ve tried this (a guide posted) and this (Mplayer smartphone port).
Unfortunately, none of them worked. So.. is it really possible to watch RMVB files? If someone says so and points me to the right direction, I´ll keep Dexter and Supernatural updated!

Yes... Xilisoft is the one... However, let me say that playback experience is by far much better in Coreplayer than Mediaplayer. I haven´t tried TCPMP, so, I don´t know if it works on it. (I just thought that this is one less soft to install)
Anyway.. about my initial issue, NO! Excalibur can´t play RMVB. But it can play Mp4 (I should know it...but... anyway).
Once it can play Mp4, use Xilisoft video converter and Coreplayer to watch it! Or... if you own one... use iPod to watch videos on the go!
Regards!

Yep CorePlayer should be defacto video player for everyone have not found anything come close as TCPMP was the early version of CorePlayer "Freeware" the codecs are old and not as refined as CorePlayer, WMP just sux @ doing anything, thanks for the info regards Xillisoft what's it like for AVI to MP4 quality wise?

video playback.... choppy

I tried putting a small video clip on my memory card. When I open it it plays like it's in slow motion, and it's really choppy. The audio for the clip plays in normal speed.
so a few questions...
Is there a best format of video files for my excalibur?
Is there mabey a player better than windows media player?
I hacked my psp a few years back. I was able to download full movies and watch them on it. I may be asking too much... but I'm wondering if it's possible to do this with my phone.
when I'm at work with my phone in my hand the ol' boss doesn't mind. Of course when I'm hanging on to a game system.... the **** hit's the fan!
Here you are a free bit of software that can recode videos http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html download link @ bottom there is lot's of speal...
I use A-One FLV to AVI but it's not free, there is alot of software that can do it.
I recomended SUPER as i know lots of peeps use it, so set the resolution 320x240 keep bitrate down on video larger it is larger output file, audio can be set to mono and again about 64kbit/s and still be fine, .mp4 is a good quality for Mobile video or for even more compression .3gp

Try VLC Media Player you will want codecs CCCP is XP & Vista compatable "if you have any other codec packs installed then do not install"
well i actually wanted to start a mobile movie thread
like..i will be encodeing movies for mobiles..which will play without a hitch...and patches...
and uploading them on rapidshare or megaupload..
sooo what say??
what happens if you run out of battery in the middle of a movie, can you fastforward it afterwards and in an "easy" way? If it's possible, it depends on the video format, video player or both?

The very best media player

hi,
i'm looking for an awesome media (video) player for my phone.
i'm looking for a good video player that can play a lot of different file formats.
avi, mpg, mpeg, mp4, wmv, etc.etc.
on my laptop i use VLC, and i really love it.
but i can't find a mobile version of VLC.
anybody has a clue for an awesome videoplayer for my phone?
The latest version of TCPMP plays a whole slew of formats. If you want a media player with alot of functionality, Kinoma Player (shareware) has many different functions. Not sure all the formats it plays.
There's Core Player, a branch of TCPMP that is a pretty smooth video player as well. Finally, DivX has an app for WinMo as well, so you could give that a try.
tcpmp and core player are the best on my opinion
i've looked up tcpmp on the web, and found a page about it on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-tcpmp-v0-72rc1.html but it doesn't seem to be the right one.
when i instal the cab, the program says on startup "unexpected program error, send crash.txt to the developers......".
so it doesn't run on my pocket pc.
i tought i found the tcpmp website with http://coreplayer.com/ but it costs me 24 bucks.
the free version is very difficult to find.
any ideas?
i found yet another release on this forum.
that one seems to be working a bit....
but the movie quality sucks big time.
the sound is on and off all the time.
the picture is shocking...
it's looks like the phone has to work really hard to let me see half a second each time.
it's like:
the audio........... is not .......... like it's ............. supposed........... to be..............
(and the video is the same).
am i doing sometyhing wrong?
I had to look really hard also for a 6.1 TCPMP. Then on this site there seem to be quite a few different ones. I got mine at http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/1059593835-post107.html it says it is version 4.0.3. But it is open source so people do whatever they want with it. Mine is pretty ugly to look at, but it has always worked (except for the initial crashing - see below). Would like a nicer looking version.
Which one did you download?
This fixed my crashing "If you are having issues with no video or the crashing issue on the HTC HD2 this may help you, You will need to go into the Video settings and change the Direct Draw --> GDI and it should resolve the issue you were having."
i don't remember which one i downloaded... wnloaded about 5 of them from different sites.
i installed all of them (one at a time) to see which one worked best.
the one i've got is worked the best way... but like i said it's shocky... to say the least.
i'll try the one you just send me.
i don't care for looks, i just care for video quality.
i can't believe that a simple viedeoplayer can be so difficult to find on windows mobile.
isn't the whole idea of mobile windows, the idea that you have a mobile version of windows?
and isn't windows also (largely) used for different kinds of media? e.g. video, music etc...
windows media player is the best...

EDIT: Granted they are in the MPEG-4 format you get from, for example, the Videora converter I linked.

all i know is, it's a 700 mb avi file that plays beautifully on my old laptop with VLC running on win xp.
now i'm trying to play that same file on the video player you linked, but the quality is awefull.
the audio stops and starts playing every few seconds, and the video just 1 frame a second (and every now and then, it skips a few frames to catch up with the audio).
i personally just think that nobody bothered to make a descent video player for win mobile. OR (and please forgive me for saying this), the phone simply sucks totally (mostly because it has win mobile on it....).
