I was wondering if any other tmo touchpro 2 owners had slightly squeaky battery covers, more specifically, when pressure is applied to the upper right hand corner of the cover, there would be a creaky sound or on any other corner or place on the battery cover....i'm wondering if its just mine...
Squeeky Battery Cover
I have T-Mobile's HTC Touch Pro2. Can't hear any squeaks.
I have the Telus TP2 and I get a squeak right near the volume buttons. I'm glad I'm not the only one, it's a PITA actually
Is it enough to swap my phone out, though? That's a good question...
No problem with mine. But I did read somewhere about Tmo tp2 owners complaining of loose battery cover.
I think I may go back to the TMO store I bought it from to see if there was anything they could do..hopefully there is cuz the creak is annoying..

Mine does too. Its just some plasticy fit/finish intermittent sound- no big deal.
As long as there are no funny noises from the front of the phone, and the battery cover
doesn't fall off by itself, I wouldn't really be bothered about some squeaks.
Mine squeaks when I press the front corner where the End call button is. But I started tilting the screen up and down, and now it doesn't squeak as much anymore

Yes, it does squeek whenever I press the end button. Will try the tilting if that fixes it.

Hey guys, my T-mobile Touch Pro 2 creaks whenever I press down on the bottom corner with the end call button. Even when I slide the screen out and squeeze that corner it makes the noise. Does anyone know how to fix this?
I don't think you can expect anyone to respond with a fix such as a registry edit for your problem. Best to return it for an exchange if possible.
mine does the same, i always assumed it was just the nature of the hardware..
I noticed this on my brothers tmobile touch pro 2. And his is less than 20 days old.
But my tmobile touch pro 2 does not do this.
When I was checking his it did the cracking noise and did not feel correct.
Are you going to return yours and how long does it typically take to process an exchange. Can I just walk into a tmoible store to do it?
mine does too. its more of a feel than a sound. it doesnt appear to be hurting anything.
Mine too. Hadn't really considered it as a reason for repair until now
That sound comes from your battery cover. I have the same problem with mine as well. It's because the battery cover is not sitting plush against the innards of the phone.
Simple fix.
1) Cut a piece of paper about 4 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide.
2) Make 2 folds... one from the left and one from the right
3) Place it on the battery and put the battery cover back on. Make sure you place it exactly as shown in the picture to avoid breaking any of the plastic locking extensions!
Problem Solved!
Pictures Here
Mine did the same (1 month old) , however with time the sound disappeared, if you try and slide the keyboard and hold the lower right corner of the screen then squeeze gently with both fingers you will hear the sound..... not sure if its considered a faulty thing, but I am fine with it...
Over all I'm happy with the build quality of my GSM GNex, but it has one minor flaw.
The plastic edge around the screen. Top, Bottom and Right side are perfect and rounded smooth (just like my SGS2), but the left edge i kinda rough and not rounded and smooth like the others. It has a rough feel with a slight sharp feel if you slide your finger over it and makes a "small" rough sound.
Do any of you recognize this? Or is your GNex perfectly smooth like the SGS2?
mine feels uniformly smooth on all sides. one thing i don't like though is dust being trapped in between the said edges and screen. other than that it's flawless
I'm very happy with the build quality on my verizon version.
My only gripe about my GN physically is the rear cover. Just below the camera if you put a small amount of pressure on the cover and then release it, you can hear a slight clicking noise as the cover pops back out.
Other than that, flawless.
My problem .... frigging power button on side of the phone!!! I have to be so careful not to do a screen shoot its just unbelievable ...only other way of switching screen on or off is to hold the phone form top instead resting it on your palm

My Gnex is perfectly solid despite having dropped it on tile twice. Yeah, I'm a klutz. There aren't any creaks in it, no popped-up glass, buttons are smooth, no loose or rough joins anywhere.
As I mentioned in another thread, the "flimsy" back cover of the Gnex has an advantage in that it doesn't fly off and let the battery go as well when the phone is dropped. Every smartphone I've ever owned would, when dropped, fly in three different directions when it hit the ground- phone in one direction, back cover in another, battery in another. The Gnex stays in one piece.
Somehow I've only managed to break two phones in my life despite my constant accidental drop testing. Neither of the broken phones was a Samsung (one was a SE X10 dropped into a sinkful of water, the other a BlackBerry dropped on pavement). Admittedly the Samsungs feel a little flimsy next to a lot of high-end phones, but the fact that they are lightweight and plastic actually makes them more durable, IME.
Mine is fine, outside of one extremely annoying issue. The vibrate motor on my unlocked GSM Nexus makes the phone rattle on the bottom right side (obviously where the motor is housed) if I'm not holding the phone on that side. I am normally a vibrate all the time guy...now I only have it vibrate for phone calls because it annoys me so much. I love how powerful and silent the motor is when I'm holding it...(at least compared to my Droid Incredible 2). My Verizon Nexus didn't do this at all before I returned it. Sad.

put a layer or two of masking tape on the back of the cover until the space has been taken up. problem solved.

Mine too. I've exchanged 3 times and they all have the same problem. I think it is because of the curved glass.

I am curious. What are you talking about here? do you mean the virtual buttons on the bottom are not aligned? Could you do a screenshot to show what you mean if that is the case? I have never heard of that one before.

I have bought a new Galaxy Note 2 a couple of days ago but there are some problems with build quality, I don't know if they are widespread or not!
The battery cover squeaks when I press over it, mainly near loudspeaker and volume buttons.
The volume and power buttons feel a bit loose, i.e. they move half a millimeter vertically.
Do you have the same problems? Is my device defective? Do I have any chance with warranty to fix these?

buttons do feel a bit loose, but no biggie for me especially those on volume. battery cover squeaks a bit when pressed too hard, but it's plastic, and plastic with right amount of pressure squeaks.
I have minimal movement in the buttons. A fraction of a millimeter, if any. I have absolutely no squeek with normal use but can fine an area that squeeks if i try hard. Make sure your cover is properly fitted.
Mine doesn't squeak in normal use either but if I push it, it will!

I have some problems. F... Phone for 600Eur
I hate plastic, so I hate Samsung for that. But sorry the buttons don't feel loose, and what do you mean by back plate squeaks near speaker grill, when do you try to open it or just normally press it when it's firmly sitting there? If it's the latter then mine doesn't squeak too.
But other than these, I don't like build quality, how can I when it's all plastic!
My phone makes an awful noise when I drop it. Solution - don't drop it.
My phone makes a noise when I press the back cover. Solution - don't press the back cover.
Is pressing the back cover of the phone something that you need to do in normal use?
Anyhow I saw a comment a while ago that taking the cover off or putting it on in a certain way can damage the tabs along the edge and cause it to squeak. Check the tabs and see if they are all there or are damaged

It's a flagship for crying out loud! You really think the solution is not touching or thinking about it? Don't get me wrong, I love every bit of my phone but Samsung really has to do better with build quality of it's flagships. What was wrong with S2 design? It didn't squeak and was more scratch resistant...

I agree! Infact on S2 the bottom bulk ensure that I hold the phone the right way. Holding Note 2 is a dicey affair as its symmetrical design makes it difficult to know the orientation. I HATE glossy plastic button against the Matte finish, practically indestructible thin plastic on S2. Although I don't like the exposed bottom bulk which is not covered by the battery cover! I personally prefer the plastic cover on Galaxy R which completely cover the back including the area around the MicroUSB port which can easily get scratched otherwise.

While plastic, it is much stronger than some of the more popular alternatives out there.
Which do you prefer?

I have a Galaxy Ace which squeaks a bit. So I use a case which makes it not squeak at all.
You could try that.
Back squeaking would be gone if you put a business card between battery and back cover, so don't think that it was made due pulling it off in a bad way or anything else!

My battery cover squeaks on the opposite side -- near the power button. Although this is probably because I'm using the official flip cover and the portion of the battery cover near the volume buttons is quite stable and thick. Honestly it was initially annoying as hell because I noticed it a week after getting the phone, but it doesn't bother me as much now. At least it doesn't really exhibit the squeaking when I'm actually using the phone -- only when I'm making myself notice it. LOL.
The buttons (volume and power) are a bit flimsy. Way too easy to press, especially the power button. But I'm using the official flip cover + IntelliCover app. So I don't have to actually USE the power button anymore. Not a real solution, but it's a good workaround for those using flip covers.
One more thing to add to obsession list, bezels tend to squeak on certain points!
bezel is coming off
any one expensed the bezel around the screen coming loose?
bought 4 days and already seeing this
It's like that from beginning... Nothing to worry about! Maybe a mechanism to avoid breaking...
Mine has nothing wrong... no squeaks, no loss buttons

yep, took it off and put it back on several times, you would only notice it if you were holding it to play a game like asphalt
the creaking cover is near the part where you stick your nail in to take the cover off
while the bezel creaks right above the volume button

My mom's Gnote 2 on AT&T does this as well. Its annoying, but I think they all do this to some extent. If you take the battery door off it doesn't do it. But when you place the device to your ear for calls you can hear the creaking.
Mine used to be silent, but then with me taking it off and on a hundred times trying to figure out the wireless charging I think the tabs get a little worn and don't hold the cover in place as tightly as when new. Sucks, but I bet money a new battery cover will fix it. I just try not to pay attention. I know, that's not what we should have to do with a $650 device, but it is what it is (still the best phone on the market).
I chatted with Samsung asking if this was normal and he said no. I don't think the Galaxy S III had any creaking going on.
Can more people comment?

Jajaja same here. Right behind the volume buttons. Was not successful with the wireless charging. I think with time or exsecive on/off its bound to happen on a plastic cover. It's flimsy on its own but on the phone, I'm surprised how sturdy it is.

The Samsung Flip Cover replaces the battery door with one that is slightly thicker. It's not really noticeable, but the phone feels a lot more solid and all of my creeks went away.

Never had that issue with the SIII, but it is an issue with the Note II. Samsung was no help and doesn't have the T-Mobile version in stock yet. A rep told me "this is the first we are hearing of this issue".

I got a flip cover, but it's hard to use the phone 1 handed... when you pull it out, you need to flip the flap without dropping the phone... and then it kinda hangs there uselessly unless you fold it behind the back which feels weird... I don't know, it looks sleek as heck, but more annoying than useful IMHO
In any case, I'm using my Nilkin case with my Note II and with that I don't hear any creaking because it's a hard shell case, actually makes the phone feel better in the hand (I swear Samsung wants us to drop the phone by making the largest, most unwieldy phone and then putting it into a glossy, plasticky and slippery frame. Sheesh, why can't they take a note from HTC and put some rubberized plastic on it? At least it'll be more scratch resistant.
My back cover and case creak, so annoying! Hope to see some replacement back covers with NFC soon to see if I can fix this...
figured out the issue, the bezel appears to be "loose"
even if it seems perfectly attached, try pushing it in towards the centre abit(so it exposes more glass), mine popped and the creaking is mostly gone.
bezel loose?

Do you have creaks right side or around of screen? I have creaks of right side near irda blaster.
Mine 10.1 has creak issue near left speaker. It can be even seen as the frame is on same level as silver border
Creak like creaking sound or ???
Yes mine started as creaking and now the whole right bezel is separating from the screen completely. Along with burnt pixels.
Yes. Right side and bottom left are creaking on my 10.1. No separation though. I always have it in a case so I don't notice it.
I passed the device under warranty. Waiting for the result from the service center. Quality is terrible.
I thought I was dreaming, so there are creaks
yes!
Dood yea mine does the same thing. I was wondering If this was something to be worried about because I dont see or feel anything wrong with the device even though it creeks. I really dont want to get a refurb but do you think its something to pursue?
I have it too on the left side of the screen, where is the slot for micro sd card. I didn't notice it, before i read this thread and look on my device deeply. I hope it wont be expanding more.
