Well i already tried speeding up my HERO by following the steps from another thread here in the forum and it just didn't work for me.
So Heres what i Tried and it just seems to work out for me! And its very simple too.
THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: DOWNLOAD "OVERCLOCKWIDGET" FROM THE MARKET AND SET THE MIN MHZ TO (128000) AND MAX TO (528000) MHZ. THIS SHOULD HELP KEEP THINGS RUNNING SMOOTH.
^^^^Also from the settings of "OverClock Widget" you can set the MHZ Frequencies while the screen if off to the a low but not so low Frequencies in order to save battery!
So if your like me and like to have a lot of widgets on your phone then Using Task manager to kill certain apps might just do the trick....
First of all never end applications such as
com.htc.socialnetwork.provider
com.htc.provder.weather
HTC media uploader
Touch input
HTC Location Service
and more! They do not have an icon if your using "advance task Manager" All other apps are good to end such as music, peep, market, Messages,Mail, Google Mail, and of course Browser which uses a lot of memory.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes...
Heres the link to a video i made to show the performance of my HTC Hero!

Thats the way i do it to.
But i also noticed, that some widgets uses more battery than others. After i removed quick calender and digital clock, i got better battery performance. That might also have some effects on the processing power
I tried this...
This afternoon and so far this morning the Hero is far more responsive after I wake it up (which was when it was at its most laggy).
I can now immediately slide around the home screens. Before I had to wait a few seconds or suffer ignored screen swipes.
I was not using the Stocks app or widget but it was set to auto update so set it to never update.
Maybe its a process that runs regardless of whether you use the app or widget ??
Know what I think might work? An app that reboots the phone.
User selects frequency of reboot (daily? every 2 days? every week?)
User selects time of reboot (12 midnight? 3 am?)
User defines Countdown period (15 seconds? 30 seconds? 1 minute?)
At the user-defined time, the app will run itself, and prompt the user "Reboot Now?". A countdown timer will start.
User can select 'Later', 'In 10 minutes', or if there is no interaction/input, when countdown reaches 0, the app will reboot the phone automatically.
This way, users will always wake up to a 'fresh' phone. What do you guys think?
Rebooting the device won't make it faster. On the contrary you have to start every apps for the first time so it takes more time.
You'd better leave it on and turn to airplane mode when you don't need it.

Tell that to my phone. It's back to it's zippy self after a reboot, and only slows down after I run Maps, Browser, Google Talk, Market and HTC Mail

I think clock should also be spared of killing, as if I recall correctly, something bad could happen to set alarms (not setting off, volume too low etc.)!
Hi guys, need some help.
i've just rooted my Hero thanks to this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=543571 and Quick Boot (which needs root) now works perfectly.
After i've installed overclockwidget i cannot start it as it gives me an error "Star-up error - cannot start Overclockwidget (need Root)".
Any ideas?
thanks in advance.
Surely increasing the CPU speed will also increase battery drain ?
Its also likely to lead to instability and additional heat (Hero gets hot enough when working hard).
Personally I would be wary of doing this.
I have no real issues with battery drainage after tweaking the processor speed; lasts about the same as it would w/out the tweaks.
I do see some minor performance improvements, but on the flip-side, the phone can also get sluggish at times upon waking it up from sleep.

wrong, mine runs at 528 MHz, and I haven't overclocked it
I can confirm that mine shows 526 (the widget number) as well out of the box. And changing the settings doesn't appear to do anything. It's always returning to 480Mhz - 528Mhz when I restart the app / widget. I've tried this both with SetCPU and OverClock Widget.
The Hero (at least some Heroes) seems to be immune to fiddling with the cpu. And I am sure I'm rooted, because I enabled paid apps in Android Market with MarketEnabler and that's working.
MarketEnabler didn't work out of the box tho - because it had a script that relied on Grep and Grep isn't installed, so I had to empty the AndroidMarket cache by hand from the terminal... Maybe there's something similar preventing fiddling with the cpu speeds?

Guys,
Browsing the web I stumbled up on to this article:
It describes how you are able to get a good performance out of your Hero, Hence that it's just a experiment so not sure if it will work!
http://www.majicware.com/HTC-Hero-Speed-Issues-Experimenting?vzWMwp
I'm going to post updates as I will test it.
The article actually sounds quite interesting...I've also noticed that killing tasks doesnt necessarily get rid of some of the lag (although I dont have that much lag to begin with).
I think I'll give this a try for a couple of days too.
Well lets keep us posted on this case. I will give a update tomorrow.
I'll see if that works for me =)
sounds promising =D
thanks for sharing
ill give it a try!
If the phone is syncing then it is definitely very laggy. This is also the case when the memory us low. Obviously if u have apps like task panel or the, music player running at the same time things will slow down too.
For me task panel has worked well. If I keep the free memory at around 50megs then there is almost no lag. I'll keep an eye out for other things as well

I have been using the Hero for a few days. On day one I hated it, it was so slow. Then I started using Taskiller to kill tasks like weather, clock, mail, peep etc that are running in the background. Not much help. In fact, it seemed the more frequent that I killed these tasks, the slower my Hero ran.
After a few days of use, I realized the trick to speed up the Hero (or android in general) is DO NOT kill tasks unless you are running our of memory. By running out of memory, I mean really out of memory. My Hero is using 160MB memory right now, which may seems a lot, but it is running very smoothly. Killing some tasks reducing memory usage to, say 90MB, wont' really speed it up. Unlike Windows Mobile, as long as your memory usage is not 99% and have memory left for additional apps to open, just leave it. Remember the Hero has 288MB memory, 100 MB is already reserved for the OS to run, and android memory management will kill unnecessary tasks for you when you run out of memory anyway.
Now, the important part. Do not kill tasks manually too frequently. You have to understand when does the Hero slow down: when it is fetching data. If you use an HTC widget, do NOT kill the relevant app that the widget requires it run in the background. For example, if you used the HTC music widget, don't kill the music app running in the background. If you killed it, you would notice a very significant lag when you go from another page to the page with the music widget. This is because the music widget is trying to open the music app and access the music on your micro SD. Once it is done, the music app will just become idle until you start playing music and there is no more lag. But if you killed it, the widget had to open the app every time you reach that page after killing the app. This causes lag.
The same go for the twitter widget. If you killed Peep running in the background, you will notice a lag when you go the page with the twitter widget. This is because the twitter widget is starting up Peep again and has to connect to your twitter account to check for new stuff. But if you leave Peep running, it will do so only at the regular time interval that you set.
I am now running the HTC clock widget, music widget, bookmark widget, twitter widget and full of stuff on all of my 7 pages home screen. I have clock, weather, music, peep, mail and many other apps running in the background. My Hero run very smoothly.
I hope this helps.
Hmmm... Well, I think it is pretty obvious and common sense that the apps used for active widgets should surely not be killed. For the others, I find that I am better off killing them. Even if this should not be the case, and the effect only "psychological", I still fail to see what would be a benefit of not killing the applications.
Android market should define some criteria that applications must meet before they're made available. Applications should also be benchmarked and rated wrt connectivity requirements, CPU-load etc. This would be a deterrent against applications that load automatically even when there's no config (like peep when there's no twitter account), or puts such load on device that it runs out of juice in a few hours (power manager). If this is done on android market one could also hope that vendors also would put a bit more effort into optimising their own stuff.
've stopped obsessively killing Apps...running smoothly. Android Dev video posted on similar thread reassured me that the OS is meant to take care of all that anyhow

Well, I dunno; that way madness lies, or at least iTunes Appstore madness, where new apps, and upgrades, take weeks to get approved, and are still equally buggy. And new apps often get refused, for no good reason.
I like the timeliness of the Android store; and I'm suffering with dodgy apps too - my Hero currently won't last overnight on standby - but it's still miles better than the iPhone nonsense
Well I stopped using the task manager to kill apps for a couple of days....but there is no real speedup and its just the same.
BUT it also means that its pointless to kill the tasks to begin with since it didn't make a difference either (like other people are now saying). If anything, the browser and apps like people/contacts load up faster beacause they are still somewhere in the background (I used to always constantly kill these apps).
The part about not suspending the phone straight away has made a slight difference. Before, when I turned the screen on I constantly had a lag especially sliding the screen left and right and going to the messages page. But if I let it go into standby by itself, when I wake up the phone, it barely stutters (and if it does, its only for like a split second on the first slide).
...if only there was a shortcut to just lock the screen....
I found uninstalling 'Power Manager' sped my phone up massively. I shall try this and see if he's onto anything.

Aren't there apps for locking in the market?
don't know will this speed up things and to whom it may apply, but until today i never ran my Stocks app, seeing as i don't care about stocks so i opened it, opened settings and found out it was set to update every 1h with 4 preset stock somethings....so those not using it might also wanna check that the thing is switched to Manually, one less task that shows up for no reason :/

Apple's problem is politics. I wasn't hinting towards any such subjective valuation for Android. What I'd like is a clear set of technical requirements (example: an application that auto-starts during boot even without necessary configuration data should not be accepted), and a site back-end with numerous emulators that runs applications through their paces to obtain performance/power/network rating before they are made available for download. Extensive testing would require manual configuration, test and monitoring, but even some simple automated tests could sort out the worst offenders. Ratings should be displayed with application descriptions on the site, and would also work as a simple form of tech feedback to developers about things they may need to improve.
good points.
I've since discovered that any app that registers to receive async alarms will be started at boot, even though it doesn't necessarily need to be. not really a problem, but the cause of a lot of processes running at boot for no obvious reason.
Hi Guys,
I'm Adam Saunders, author of the original article.
Just a thanks to everyone that is also trying the experiment. So far I've had a lot more positive results from people than negative, so the hunch is somewhere on the right track.
I was going to try and find an exact reason as to why killing tasks repeatingly will slow the device down. It's been said its the way that Android kills apps but saves the state, so the process isn't actually running, and by killing that off, the orphaned state is possibly the problem. Sounds feasibly, but not read anything official to back up that claim.
Confirmed, it's been three days since I stopped killing the processes and any lagging (which was very slight for me in the first place) is gone. Thanks for the tip, Adam!

Old one replaced build.prop with wrong version. Reinstall and use the new Wifi update.
Also to get rid of android-rebooting-problems with GPS Test application do the following:
1. Start terminal emulator
2. su
3. cd system/lib/hw
4. rwsystem
5. rm sensors.msm7k.so
6. rosystem
7. exit
8. exit
9. restart phone
So how is it? I'm too lazy to install it.

Seems like a really nice build. I'm using 320x428 with 144 dpi. A bit slow because I'm currently not running in NAND but I would expect it to perform quite well once I go back to running NAND again.
I haven't tested it very much yet as I'm doing some experiments in WinMO at the moment.
just tried
hey
i just downloaded this and i have to say im impressed about this.
as i love the eclair design and everything and the donut speed i have to say this is impressing because it is FAST! not as fast as donut but pretty much the same. that could be due to the 500 mHz OC but i just like that build.
just needs to be optimized a bit, maybe a few apps like astro and others
and as the developer has a new phone we need a new one.
But i have to say its awesome!
i love it already and just tried it for 9 min.
just the OC needs to be removed i noticed right now and is there any way to set another value for the screen sensebility because quiet often it does not react on a touch.
so keep updating this!
nick
nice rom but it chews through battery like crazy. With a full charge battery will drop from 99 to 75(battery fix removed OC and set 1400 value) with just a 10min phone call and a couple txts. I think what we need is a new kernel highly optimized for battery life using the latest patches. Judging from the name alone of the kernel its running right now 2.6.25-01051-gc362ac-dirty and the fact that 2.6.25 was released in jul 2008 i think theres room for tons for improvement.
Does anyone know how to adjust the microphone gain? my friends complain they cant hear me..
The wifi scan interval is set to 15 seconds by default in this release. That will have a negative effect on battery life if you are out of range of a known network and have wifi enabled. I'll put together an update to change this when time allows. I use 120 seconds myself.

Thanks to update.
It working good on Polaris.
Also i change interval to 180 and density to 120 in .prop
Here's an update that changes the wifi scan delay to 120 seconds and also (not tested yet) changes the model name from Vogue to Kaiser.
i'm still trying to figure out if it's possible, somehow, to flash an update.zip file (to be able to use the cyanogenmod skins) with the nomorootfs we're using, instead of converting the skins to metamorph format
does anyone know if it's possible or how to do it?
Can't get wifi to work with updates, which one should I need?
kallt_kaffe's works for me. If something isn't working like it should, power off the phone and remove the battery. Then hold down the power button to remove any remaining power left. Place batter back in and try again.
Also, make sure to always fix permissions when you apply updates, even for wifi.

Certainly think mod needs work. So far the battery meter is off, and all this time I thought it drained less power. A lot of pop ups to force close apps. A lot of apps are running that I don't use.

Have you removed or renamed /lib/modules/hw/sensors.msm7k.so? After I removed that it runs very stable for me.
kallt_kaffe how do you do it?
I'm new to the androidinstall.tar method. I'm tyring to run from haret but it seems impossible.
You said you where experimenting with something in winmo, so that implies you're using haret? Are you running from haret?
When I try, Polymod, and Mssmission they don't show an install option, when I try myn and incubus I get it installed but I get no sound. It was actually your gps kernel that let me get things installed all other kernels i tried had non-functional dpads within the installer environment. Also, trying another kernel once installed didn't fix the sound issue.
Anyhow just let me know if you're using Haret. I wonder whats up with the sound and missing install option. I tried the install two different ways one with a 2gb fat32 partition, and then another attempt using three primary partitions 1.3gb fat32, 300mb ext, 300mb ext. All installers then would give me options beside's fat, but not all intallers would have an install option.. I'm using radio 1.71.09.01.eMo, model: kais100, os: wm6.5 (shifu v.3)

battery life has been fantastic for me on this build...
although I reverted back to 400mhz and got rid of compcache.
I am sure that OCing to 500 by default is draining the battery faster.

Hi i found an app called auto killer memory which ive been running for a while. this app has worked wonders for my wilderbeast, its on fire. so ive been tampering alot with things but this seems to have stabalised my phone loads. presets i set to lost, enabled advance mode, apply at boot, ticked all system tweaks and of course when promted enabled super user. my phone is now running sweet and battery has improved too. i dont know if this makes any sense but i have noticed a difference. whoop whoop. am i over optimistic that this works the same as the v6 super charger/juwes ram optimiser ???
Ok I've ammended my settings within this app after doing some research And in memory values I'm now running at 6/10/16/100/120/160 to keep my phone running snappppppy. To explain the values in brief...... if free memory goes below 160mb my phone starts to kill empty apps etc etc as free memory goes below next value the phone starts to kill corresponding apps. Kind of makes sense to me now. Ok I know my settings makes the phone kill more frequently but its damn snappy now,and it can lower the oom settings by long pressing the app in processes section you wish to lower and choosing lower oom. Lowering the oom basically gives the app less chance of being killed.
Personally I haven't had a low memory situation since I rooted and installed cm7, the app your talking about I have installed after reading one of your other posts about it, I presume that it would work the same way as juwes after setting the low memory values, I don't use those settings with it though as I have juwes script installed, the other tweaks seem fine but again I think I had some of them covered from editing my build.prop (still have work to do on that though) and a few other little things, I can't knock this app though as it does seem to have made my battery last a bit longer since installing yesterday, I'd personally rather change the settings myself than have yet another app doing it for me but until I figure which setting seems to be helping my battery out I'll keep it installed.
A couple of other apps which might help you keep it smooth,
Autostarts- I swear by this app its one of my best buys from the market, why use a task killer when you can just stop the app starting in the first place??
Fast reboot pro- after time apps hold memory which they don't really need, hit this and it'll quickly reboot everything (unless you tell it to leave something alone) freeing up spare ram.

The only problems I see with having higher settings are if it closes something you use regular it'll be slower to open that app, I'd rather keep them set low and have apps open quickly.

Change the view from pages to mb and these are the values when it will start killing processes etc. Ie. When your memory gets to the amount your phone starts freeing up starting with the highest setting (empty apps)
Its all explained above, just that you have the pages view instead of mbs.

ahh the pagesettings are the same as the MB ones?
i thought its two different things

i tried supercharger and juuwes but had issues which i think were specific to me but one of the issues was bootlooping from supercharger as well as other things. im not saying one is better than the other but as you and myself had issues with one of the mods then its an alternative for others to use. i prefer this as you get to control the settings and mods yourself from the app. also this is available for s-on whilst the others i believe need s-off.

I got a boot loop from supercharger. I had to wipe my phone and start again from an RUU as all my previous backups became corrupted. Nightmare. TBH in the few days that it did work, i saw/felt no difference.
Using CM_7.1.0.1 probably wouldnt advise to use the supercharge, CM_7 minfree values are set to a pretty good level to keep things in order i think

I have tried supercharge script and does make phone smooth. Also Ive use ram manager new app and that too made phone smooth. But this app (Pro) is so far great. I tried out your settings for now to see if it suits me and had the app for an hour and the phone is very snappy and smooth (which is most important to me). I hope there is a slight battery improvement that many have said on the net but will test more and will leave feed back. A big thx m8!
no probs mate, like i said i have tried the lot and this one for me is really good and you get to be the controller lol.the only drawback i have noticed is that it takes a little longer for the phone to boot after a reboot but !!!!! im ok with that.
LMFAO looks like I didn't pay enough attention... I've used a lot of tweaks already to make my Willy faster, more snappy and stable but to be honest nothing gave it such a boost like that
BTW: are you still using the settings of the op?
Holy crap, I've read that really often here and elsewhere but it's the first it applies to myself: feels like a new phone

I use aggressive setting mostly, all advanced tweaks except sdcard boost one as this bumps read ahead up to 2048, just my preference you might prefer 2048.

I see. I just have to sort things out now. Regarding the SD card read - I have it already done by sdbooster (@2048) - I'm at a point where I should make a documentation to stay on track and to avoid double tweaks lol.
I'm also very interested into scratch's build.prop lol (guess that would help to drop even more tweaks). Thx again - I've not forgotten about your tip re. AMO - just shifted it too far lol.
This is a formal request for any developer capable of doing so, to take a look at this problem.
There is a growing number of users noticing a severe battery drain and hot phone at times, caused by the runaway process; (gsiff_daemon)
The threads discussing this as of now are scattered and unorganized, and with the number of users experiencing this problem, it would be excellent to have one central thread for everyone to work together on this.
Here's what we know so far:
The problem occurs for most on a hot-boot, and can be triggered by forcing a hot-boot.
It is not carrier specific, At&t, Tmobile, and Verizon users have all confirmed this problem.
The only reliable way to rid of this at this time, is a reboot, although some have had luck ending the gsiff_daemon process, or renaming the file, although this requires further testing.
Here are a few threads that have been started on the issue, with some good reading:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30074303#post30074303
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800812&page=3
Anyone capable of looking into this, and know what they are looking at enough to determine the cause, will be eternally thanked, and i will personally donate a case of beer(or soda) to whoever fixes it.
Thanks!
is this Gsiff_Daemon issue only for rooted users? I just got it too...after rooting...I never had this issue since june 30, since I've had the phone
I just renamed the file.. problem went away. it doesn't run anymore.. and haven't had any negative effects that I can tell....
do any of you guys have the "increase volume in pocket" setting on in phone-->settings?
also do any of you have motion settings enabled and/or autorotation on?
Seems it has to do with the gyro issue
also are you guys rooted or non-rooted?
Crapppp
Jellybean didn’t solve it. Gsiff_daemon just popped up for me. Just renamed it AGAIN.
Hopefully it won't pop up again

System Tuner Pro 2.5.5 (STP)
Rebooter 1.6.0, Author: DAVIDJR621
BetterBatteryStats 1.11.0.0
Battery: /menu/settings/battery/
NORMAL OPERATION
- Reboot normally until system settles in fully loaded and in idle
- check SetCpu. Scaling should hover at 384mhz and with occasional spikes usually up to 1512.
- check BetterBatteryStats, switch top drop down selection to "Process" and secondary selection to "Since Unplugged". "gsiff_daemon" should NOT be listed there
REPRODUCING THE ISSUE
- Open Rebooter app and launch the HOT REBOOT option and wait for the system to reboot and settle.
- Open SetCpu and you should notice that the scaler will be at 1512mhz >90% of the time. IF NOT...repeat the hot reboot step.
- Open BetterBatteryStats as you did above and notice that "gsiff_daemon" is now listed in there.
- Open Battery info and notice that ANDROID SYSTEM is at the top of the list usually around 60%. Now STARE at Android system and click the refresh button...and notice for a brief Milli Second you will see,,,,"gsiff_daemon". Not sure about this but interesting.
- Open STP, launch it's built in Task Manager, make sure you allow viewing of SYSTEM and KERNEL. (at the bottom you can click on their ICONS) Scroll down near the bottom third of the list where it shows KERNEL elements, and you will see /system/bin/gsiff_daemon. Click on /system/bin/gsiff_daemon. Under CPU Consumption....you can watch the % climb.
- at this point, if you KILL /system/bin/gsiff_daemon, the CPU will settle back down to 384mhz and the statistics of cpu usage will not climb/grow.
WORKAROUNDS
- kill /system/bin/gsiff_daemon/ after a hot reboot or reboot your S3
- with a Root File Explorer, rename your /system/bin/gsiff_daemon to /system/bin/gsiff_daemonBAK and reboot normally. This should prevent the issue but it is not known whether it is adversely affecting any system components.
- /system/bin/gsiff_daemon/ should not show up in STP if you have renamed the file.

What JB ROM are you using? I had the issue when I was running stock, rooted, with the Sammy KT747 kernel, but after flashing CM10, landing the AOKP KT747 Kernel, and running Pimp My ROM on it, I've never seen it crop back up. (knocking on wood here).

What is the difference of having or not having a period?
Upper casing probably doesn't make a difference though

Eyecon82...really...don't worry about the period. It's irrelevant.
So long is the file is renamed, it wont be triggered/found by whatever normally triggers/finds it.

It looks like it's sending gyroscope and accelerometer data to the locapi, (location application interface) and there's some reference to sns there as well.
So, why would a location app need accelerometer data? Or maybe the question is why would someone who's getting my location data need my accelerometer data, too? What's in it for Samsung that they would bother developing it and roll it out? Why wasn't it there in June?
Ok, having a little fun speculating, but perhaps blackboxing for car accidents? Your phone log is the first thing they check and see if you were texting, or whatever, right before impact. Oh, wait, if they have a location-accessing app, they don't need your locally stored log. Nah, probably something technical with the compass....

Yes, I don't have any evidence to support this other than what just happened on my phone. I was out for about a 15 minute walk and I got back. Phone was hot and i noticed a severe drop in battery. I remember reading that Goog Now tabulates how far you walked/jogged monthly or something. Maybe this process is capturing that motion/data for it? Just my speculation. No evidence. I think I'll try renaming the file as I dont really GAF about how far Goog thinks I've walked.

I am having this issue. I've just rooted my phone and the file seems to no longer be in /system/bin and running a search for it the file isn't found. Yet it's completely killing my battery. It's quite annoying to have to monitor battery use and kill this off or restart the phone so renaming it would be nice to disable it fully but I can't seem to find the file

You sure it's gsiff_daemon that's causing the issue? Have you renaming qosmgr in system/bin?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry, didn't have reply notification. Yes I am sure. I Google'd it after seeing it using 30% of my battery with about 50s use. I will try renaming qosmgr but how do you diagnose which process is actually doing it? This time battery doesn't specifically say gsiff_daemon but not sure if that's where I saw it before.
I have attached my battery use screenshot. Game and screen a the top, fair enough. But 13 hours on battery and 75% drained, 6% of which is 7 seconds of the gpsd process. It's a little odd

fix yet ? mines doing same
gsiff_daemon
Mine has been doing the same ever since the kitkat update.
I am running an unrooted EE note 3 (n9005) in the UK.
Gsiff_daemon is constantly my top battery drainer according to the battery app (35% - 47%).
I have not been able to find any consistent method to either activate this rogue app or to get rid of it.
Is there any solution without rooting it as I understand that renaming it should do the trick?
+1 from me about this problem.
Uprooted, up to date Note 3.
No solution so far, will try turning off WiFi when screen off and auto rotation... Let's see...
Hopefully it'll be fixed soon or in next version. It's a shame, though, my Windows phone pals are teasing me!
Best regards,
Doncho
NOTE: Im turning this into a sharing thread where everybody can post and share their techniques on how they save battery consumption. I'll quote all the useful suggestions here in the first post
I would like to start off by saying that all ROMs basically consume badly just like the stock version. There could be little to no differences between them with regards to battery performance. Right now I would like to share my observation, on what I presume to be one of the best ways to save battery while maintaining good performance.
glennlevi's Technique:
1. Get Antutu Battery Saver Pro (Free version can be found in the market). Install and untick the option control cpu speed.
2. Using No Frills CPU, or any other built-in cpu settings app, select your default governor (bcm####) and sio as your I/O scheduler. Maximum Frequency should be your highest available, and Minimum Frequency your lowest available.
3. Manually adjust screen brightness in settings to about 20%.
4. Untick Background Data and Auto Sync in settings, under Accounts and Sync Settings.
5. Get Ram Booster (Free in market) and install. Open. Under settings, set Boost Level to aggresive, set whitelist apps and tick your launcher, sms app, keyboard, and Ram Booster and Antutu Battery Saver. Untick Show Overlay Widget in Overlay Widget Settings. Enable the widget in the notification bar, refresh every 5s, Report Style Dont Show. Under Advanced Settings, set Feedback to None. Clean Ram using this app everytime just before you turn off your screen or want to stop using your phone.
6. Drag down your notification bar and tap the Ram Booster Notification. Now wait a couple of mins while browsing through your phone (without opening any apps)
*You can use other task killers if you want, but Ram Booster is the best IMO. A better replacement however is 360 launcher's cleaner widget (which will save more memory, ram and battery usage since its all in one app)
7. Open settings and go to Applications>Running Processes and look at all running apps, you will see some auto-start apps like Beats Audio, DSP Manager, Google Mail, Google Maps, Google Playstore and others. Uninstall all user apps that have autostarted. Download Titanium Backup and use it to uninstall stock bloatware, like google maps and google mail, or other custom bloatware like Beats Audio (If you dont use them at all). Clean Dalvik Cache using Titanium Backup and Clean Cache using Ram Booster. Freeze seldom used apps like Google Playstore. Just unfreeze when you want to use them.
*You can use other apps like Root Uninstaller to remove system apps, but IMO Titanium Backup is the easiest to use and has one of the most functions.

1. any type of widget should be avoided( except maybe clock) as they are juice hoggers.
2. ANY app that suggest or implies that they save battery defeats their own purpose for they themselves consume battery life...figures.
3. ANY app that has "killer" attached to it isn't really helpful because most of the app be it user or system just restarts after. Same goes for anything with "booster"..

5. keep most settings to a minimum.

i do. well, not full kernel, just kernel module. search bacem-tweak in dev section. but i find that the best thing you can do to save battery is keep your phone sleep as long as possible. that's means remove bloatware, limit installed app with service, and only turn data/wifi when needed. combine with undervoltage, usually i got 3-4 days in single charge. in some very rare condition i got 6-7 days.

First off I would like to quote myself -
"Right now I would like to share my observation, on what I presume to be one of the best ways to save battery while maintaining good performance."
As such, Im sharing this because
1. I think it might help other people.
2. I've tried it and compared it many times in many different rom, and what I recommend is based from my own experience
3. I know youre a dev. Im not, obviously. That doesnt mean I cant share what I think is useful. This is also backed up by the fact that Im not claiming Im sure that these actually work and that I can back it up with additional information. Again, this is just based on my experience.
again I would like to repeat the quotation from myself:
"Right now I would like to share my observation, on what I presume to be one of the best ways to save battery while maintaining good performance."
There you go. I hope that clears it all up. So please dont pick on me or anything just because Im not a dev. Thank you.

Well, thanks anyways for noticing my thread. Now I know some of my suggestions may be far from the theoretical facts that you know, but there are times when actually testing something and comparing it with others yield better results than just looking up the figures. Thats just my take on it though, so Im not saying thats all there is to it.
Anyway, maybe I'll edit this thread and make it a SHARING THREAD instead. I'll just regularly view it and put all suggestions that other members have in the first post

Sir i want to ask you onething, offtopic, in nexus there is no memorycard slot, so we have to keep all data including gallery files and even a new rom in phone memory. If we want to flash a new rom, then how can we do that? While we wipe the data and cache before flashing all data will be deleted? The rom file too?.
