Yes you can ROM files can be writen over, just not removed.
Have you tryed?

If you do a search on here for "esmertec" or "jbed" you should find some alternate java cab files to install. It will even allow you to install jbed on your sd card if you have one.

Thanks again!
for some reason, I had a permission issue last night.
I installed the Jbed Dash WM6 i found around here, and i still get the same issue.
am i missing a font or something?
I also having some sizing issues with that one.
is there a fix? or installing a different one is the only fix?
thanks

Try and soft-reset device then install may be a process running .
Is this with every font? Just taht you may want to try the fix of Tahoma placing #Tahoma.ttf in windows directory as older java reads the first font .ttf

Ok,
so I take the Tahoma.ttf font from my PC and put it into the Fonts folder in the phone?
and name it #Tahoma.ttf?
i tried this, and all the font is still 0000
i also tried it without the #
thanks

Bump?
my windows folder already have a _Tahoma.ttf
i seem to get this issue with every java app i installed.
thanks

hi, does anyone know how to fix this yet?
I can't play any games properly or read the story if all the text is "0000"
i tried the latest Esmertec.Jbed.20080912.5.1a.SP

Try Java fx

Intent Midlet Manager + GMail Font Size Fix ?

I have installed the latest Intent Midlet Manager available Here on my Universal with the latest Helmi_C WM6 Rom (v1.1).
But i get very small font sizes
Tried searching here but could not get a Fix
Anybody know how to fix this
the midlet manager seems to be for the wizard and not for universal. maybe it went wrong there....
do a hard reset and it should be normal.
is there a version (v.11) available for Universal.
Cause the default version cannot run the GMail app ?
I have soft reset it but does not work (a hard reset would remove the app)

You can add this key to fix.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tao\intent\conf\sys\ui\midp\vnd\font]
"stringfont"="andale,24"
"size"="24"
"labelfont"="andale,24,bold"
"alttextfont"="monotype.com,24"
Quote: Posted by pshetty: But i get very small font sizes Tried searching here but could not get a Fix Anybody know how to fix this :confused
There is a switch in the software. Open Midlet, open Gmail app:
Select... Menu < Goto < Settings
The "use small fonts" switch is enabled by default. Uncheck this, save, close the app and restart:
Font is still small but useable on Universal.
Excellent product if you need to access gmail wirelessly.

Thanks for the advice, however when I open the registry, the registry only up to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tao\intent\
then there's no further folder. Why's that?! Thanks!

With your registry editor you have to add each of the folders mentioned in the post up to FONT, then you have to put in the four strings recommended into the FONT folder.

sdkcerts.cab

Hi ,
I have been trying different vesion of Comm Manager on X01HT, most of them are good and installation without problem. When I tried to install the schen 10 button version, sys said no premission or something like that , So I kept reading the thread and then I found and installed the "sdkcerts.cab" (from the same thread), after that, install this 10 button Comm Manager and it could be installed this time.
So I am wondering what is this sdkcerts.cab?
What's the function of it?
I am a bit confused. Hope someone could explain it to me. thanks a lot guys!

SDK Cert is a certificate used by the developers or programmers to sign the file/s you're using to make it/them eligible to be installed on the device. It's just like a consent from the developers for their OEM softwares to their users. To make the device accepts the file/s, the SDKCert have to be installed on the device for key matching purposes.

Thanks so much for your description,
is this sdk certs an universial file? or specific for a particular program (unique) to install?
For example, if I have 2 program A and B need to install sdk certs, do I need to install one for A and the other for B program? or just install one and then not need to install anymore?
Sorry for my stupid questions

Doesn't matter at all.
And what if I don't want to use it later? I installed SDKcerts to write one read-only file and now I want my WM6 to be idiot-proof again How to unistall SDKcerts?
hello sir, im new here..my question is where can i download sdkcert 1st.cab for my htc. thank you
Hi everybody!
I have a question: can I savely uninstall the "sdkcerts" after I installed the programms which need sdkcerts (Pro2 Notification Manager and Spike's MicNeo TaskBar Varients)? Or does these programms need the sdkcerts to run on my device?
In advance: thanx for the reply
Greetz,
Michael
Almost all has them
almost all the roms has sdkcerts by default! sometimes it doesnt works so good so the cab must be installed again... only once... if you try to install something and has no permisions intall this sdkcerts and then your new app.... it doenst works... maybe is wrong cooked
for taskbar yes! its needed! to change the dll!
want the sdkcerts cab... search...
Thnx for your reply.
As I wrote in my post, I already installed the sdkcerts.cab and the programms (pro2 notification manager and the stuff from spike).
But my question is: do I have to let it (sdkcerts) on my device or can I uninstall it when the programms are running?
Greetz,
Michaël

Michael, I know this is a slightly old post but did you ever find the answer to your question? I too have been searching for ways to uninstall/remove installed SDKcerts WITHOUT having to perform a Hard Reset.
If you or anyone can answer this or help point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks a bunch!

You're welcome. I've tried it since making the above post, and it appears to work. Upon uninstall of the sdkcerts, programs with drivers requiring sdk certs won't function anymore.

Make sure your fonts size is set to medium
Hi jmermel,
Thanks for the reply.
I've checked ad the font is already set to medium.
The problem must be somewhere else...
The same thing has happened to me many times with different roms. In fact it even changed back to normal with a soft reset on some of them.
Hi,
have you the cab file of this comm manager?
Thank's

Just to make it clear, this problem also happened with other comm managers like the one from HTC Kaiser (10 button) or the one with 8 button... so maybe this has to do with some font that is changed by some piece of software.
Just guessing...
No more ideas about this...?

I have notice this problem too on many ROMs, I think that the issue comes from your today theme or do you have Wheather Panel installed on your device ?
Each time I install this soft, it happens.
Funny- I use weatherpanel too!
me too...I will try to uninstall and see what happpens
No doubt...That's WeatherPanel causing this problem.
Would it be possible to get any workaround???
Go to the weatherpanel folder in the theme folder and remove/rename the 2 TTF files (font files) that are there.
After that softreset and commmanager should be normal again...

Fix for the .Net texbox input issue in Yahoo Go and WLS on the HTC S630

Here is the Fix for the .Net textbox input issue present in the HTC S630 that affects WLS and Yahoo Go !!!
Soft reset after installing the .cab
Thanks to Vertigo1md1032 at http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?postid=10489722#post10489722
Tried but did not work
Hello there,
I installed the Cab (install to: device) on my unlocked X02HT with dopod rom.
Turned the device off and on again but no change.
I am using FuseSP and PocketDOS and still both have this annoying numeric keyboard problem
Or does this hack only fix the Yahoo Go and WLS issues?
On my HTC S630 it fixed the problem I had with Yahoo Go, I really don't know if this fixes other apps (this should fix the input problems in the textboxes in .Net bassed apps, but I haven't tried any other) and if this works with other ROMs apart from HTC's one, I guess is just a matter of testing it.
The instructions that I have from that forum are:
- copy the .cab to your phone
- run the .cab with File Explorer to install it
- restart your phone (or shut it off, then turn it back on)
- it should work after that
It worked!
Hi,
I am using softbank X02HT with Dopod C730 ROM. This fixed the input bug with Yahoo! Go.
Thank you so much for this fix! I'm always grateful to smart ppl that come up with things like this!
Yus
does not work somehow on my x02ht dopod rom
as mentioned before i tried it with my x02ht with dopod rom. i did not try it with yahoo go but with other apps i had this numeric key problem with and there was no change...
funny thing is i can install the .cab file as often as I want to. It looks like it installs fine. And then just for fun if I click the cab again after reboot it installs it again. It does not tell me it is already installed even after installing it for the x-time. Is this normal? I tried to installl to device and storage card. no change.
Cheers

Sufficient System Permissions... same old problem.

guys,
i been trying to get help for a predictive text problem i'm having since i installed pdaviet manilla2d v18 on my hermes. it comes with those diamond keypads and predictive text for enu/esp/fra/ger/ita but not for portuguese (??????)
this rom is special cause it managed to get manilla2d working fine on hermes and still letting me do everything else, without compromising much speed. it's a found and i want to keep it until i find something better.
this rom won't let me install this cab HTC EzInput QVGA FullKbd 0409-RC1.cab which contains the same keypads but with various language packs. it will end up with the insufficient system permissions message. i did get it working on the V19 but this rom version is so buggy i had to step back to V18. I have also tried installing separate language packs but they won't work.
this insufficient system permissions problem has been covered before in this forum but has not been resolved as the one who had the problem found a different cab to use.
the only ways i see for fixing this would be get rid of security - which i've already tried using a microsoft program that keeps querying device for ever and ever and won't let me change anything or maybe finding another similar keypad kit with language packs that won't bump into the security level of this rom.
chef has released V20, will try this too in the mean time.
Check if you have .net 3.5 installed on your Hermes. I find it missing a lot. Re-installing might work too...

I do, yes. This is one of the first things I install after a flash, without it I can't run AdvConfig... have considered that too.
