Cheers,
I'm trying to install the new Android SDK on a machine running 64 Bit Vista SP1, but when I try to install the included driver Windows tells me the driver is already up to date and wont let me continue. Can someone tell me how to override the driver Windows has assigned so that I can install the correct one? Hope this is the right spot to ask this question, as I've been searching for hours for an answer!!! Thanks!

The TMobile My Touch is a Sapphire handset (Magic) not a HTC Hero so might be worth asking in the Sapphire Forums Here

Hi there!
Want to repeat my post here:
Did anybody have successfull tries to update ROM from Vista? I can't do it with AKU3.2 beta8 by standart way, can't do it with MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe (got 'ERROR 150 ROM UPGRADE UTILITY ERROR'), can't do it with mtty (can't choose USB, only COM). Is it avaliable another way to do ROM upgrade?

Thanks for irrefragable answer
If you have RC1 there is a problem with the Windows Mobile Device Centre (so im told!) and so no sync at all apart from folder and files. If you have the first Beta release it works on sync - duno about upgrade yet though.
I'm awaiting the fix....
you can enable the WMDC in RC1...there is a thread on here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=61046&highlight=
that shows you how to enable it....mines working and sycing with Outlook 2007
ive not tried any sort of ROM action though...not willing to brick my wizard...
Damn - mine wont sync for love nor money!
I've done a hard reset - even reflashed the thing. Added the registry entry - forced WMDC.msi to install and still nothing - MWDC just crashed with a hideous error whenever i run it manually from control panel too!
AARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!
which version of vista are you on?
I am on RC1.... build 5600
strange, thats exactly the same as me.
all i did was ad the WHOS key, reboot, download, reboot....sync!
When i run WMDC i get:
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))
at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceManager.IForeman.StartFactory(Guid factory)
at Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DeviceCenter.Program.Main()
Im not a happy bunny!

Hi, new at this, I got given a HTC touch that is running windows mobile in norwegen or something. Would like to put on a new os, WM6 or later, or even try some of the after market os's but I need a bit of a guide and lack the termonology to figuire out half of what's on this site.
Got told I need to do some basic hacking and flashing of roms or something because the os language is harder to change then a setting in the OS itself, I don't need to back up any of the stuff so just a guid and perhaps a few deffinitions for some of the words/terms used would be really helpful. Allong with links to what ever software utilities I would need to make the update/change. Currently I'm working on a desktop with vista 64 and another with vista 32 so as long as the utilities work on either of those platforms I can use them.
Thanks in advance for any help/links any of you give me.
Folks,
I have a small prob after upgrading from Win XP SP3 to Vista Ultimate 64b.
The system always asks for the MSVCR71.ll which is already copied into Win/System32.
Also, I tried it with Ervs Visual Kitchen 3.0 and the newer 8.7.
I posted the error warning @ htc-developers so please find the overview here: http://htc-developers.de/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2069.
Installed on machine: NetFramework 3.5 SP1 incl. SDK, Visual C++ 2005+2008 redistributable.
It would be nice If someone could take a look onto this.....Thx in advance

I really don't like Windows Vista, It's not good an operation system for cooking Rom.
Already recognized that, but what shall I do? downgrading to XP again?
Guess I'm not the only one trying to cook with Vista.
Yeahhhhh, downgrade to Xp.
Or use XP in a VM with VMWare Player!
No way,
I know cooks working on Vista an it works fine. i guess there is only one small application I forgot to install. Won't downgrade again to XP
Thx Anime for that VMWare thing. Will test it later
Okay, I think I got it. The MSVCR71.dll needs to be copied also into Win/SysWOW32
Has there been any update on loading roms with Vista? Or do we still have to have an XP machine to configure our s620 with modified ROMs
If anybody can point me in the right direction.
Cheers
You can flash with Vista just the same as XP, XP is just preferred more stable method as uses active sync rather than WMDC, but i flash with Vista 64 all fine
Thanks for the update. Is there a sticky for that? or do I have to modify the xp one?

I have no problem flashing my Excaliber using Windows 7 Ultimate 64. I would assume Vista of any flavor can do it as well. I find Windows Mobile Device Center works better than the old ActiveSync application, at least on Windows 7.

Hi and welcome to the forum,
If you look HERE you can see how to run XP on a universal, BUT before you get excited over it, its not anything you could use day to day as its so slow and not enough memory to run it, otherwise everyone would be using it so I recon "NO" is a fair answer
Regards
Jay
ok thank you, but i don't wanna install windows xp, i want to install windows CE, light, and compiled for xcale/arm processors, but i don't know how to do it
xborkya360
i also wanted to find windows CE for our uni, but i think more and more that existance of winCE it is fake/joke or something else. couple of people says what they saw or even run WinCE on Uni, but then i ask to post link, everyone says "it was long time ago and i can't find any links...so on"
now i think what WinCE for Uni it is fake.
tell me if i wrong
best regards...
