lets open an audiovox 4100 section

i don’t see why we shouldn’t open a section for the 4100 here. A lot of the developments that goes on here also work on the 4100.
I have done some research on it and so far I found out that the ppc4100 use 2 file to flash the rom one is the boot and the other is the WM image just like the others do. Now both of those files are nb0 format and can be extracted with dumprom.exe which is available here. It can flashed back on the ppc4100 using a flash card to hold the image and triggering it by booting with the bootstrap.
Wish list
to edit the image file ( to change certain files)
to compile the extracted files from the rom ( to customize the rom with new programs or to custom update to a newer operating system )
what does anyone think?
u can change the press icon on the 4100 its located in a file called bobo.exe in the windows folder.
see? its almost the same there is very little change i think we need to sit down for a little while and think about how good this will do.
it will bring in more readers that would like to read about the 4100 thus u will generate more traffic that also will generate more donations
so pls i dont know how to get the athoraty's attentions here at least concider it
or comment
thanks
I am very intersted in the 4100 development as well.. I was hoping someone in here or maybe a few would be interested in sharing some knowledge and possible experience. I have done a lot of research and played around quite a bit with this over the last week using various XDA tools as well as hex editor, ect. If anyone would be interested in helping please post us here.
hey jr97ai. might as well start posting here maybe we will catch someone's attention and they will declare the ppc4100 a worthy of this site
---------------
the original rom files for the 4100 are the currunt morst recent update from at& however, both files are *.bn0 extention. as follows.
SP_E0402_230A.nb0
SP_K1112_230A.nb0
i recieved those files from audiovox a little while ago. jr97ai and myself have been working on this and have extracted the files out of the romfiles with the use of dumprom.exe. (great app by the way). i think jr97ai knows alot more about this than i do and can explain a little better.
i will attach the bootstrap rom file along with a letter that came with the cd that was sent from audiovox. i can attach the rom file as soon as i free up my bandwith
I have been playing around with mkrom and have been experiencing some problems. as it says on mkrom its not the most user friendly program. no its not, not at all, not even close. but i still try anyways lost but still trying.
if anyone can somehow point us to a direction it coul dbe verry helpful.
there might be a possibility tto use the exsisting xda WMse existing rom to use on the 4100. they seem to be similar. they do use the same operating windows after all.
well i tryed to post the rom file many times it didnt work. its uploaded in the ftp if someone can post it.
every time i try to post it shows this err.
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/sp_k1112_230a.rar
question to anyone who can answer.
to change the operating system from win2003 to 2003se wouldi need to change the bootstrap as well?
i am thinking i could use a nb1 and rename it to nb0 it should be the same.
if you would like to see a new section appear for the audiovox 4100 please post saying so. maybe that will gets omeone's attention.
we got 60 views and only 2 ppl have posted.
ok .. so the rom for the 4100 is in the xda ftp sire. the file is called SP_K1112_230A.rar under ppc 4100

im working with audiovox ppc4100 , and if u wanna dump with rom for make permenent rill file and dont losse it when u make a hard reset ,,i think the best solution its when u replace rill u can make a completat backup in a sd card then when u have to make a hard reset u can restore your backup and all will work ok...by the way i have working well mms, photo contacts , npencil , ms money , etc.
not jsut the rilgsm
now that we are able to flash the rom to the ppc4100 i am thinking we could change the operationg system. i am running towards the wm2003 se . i am trying to look for a basic rom nb1 format so i can try to flash it.
i am thinkiing it will work but i am worried about the phone part of the ppc.
do u have any thoughts on this?
No ppc4100 folder, any help please!!!

I need to reflash my PPC4100. Looking for rom and can`t find it. May be somebody have a original ROM from AT&T, or custom ROM, or WM5 ROM?

can we add erom to the main memory ?

hello there
i wonder if we can add those few more erom megabites to the main memory and/or main rom ? (this is off course in case we dont need any of those additional erom sw )
many thanx
It's technically possible if you're deep into the Uni-fu, but as it's currently irreversible the Uni-fu monks have not made a utility publicly available to do it. It would add to your Storage, BTW, not to your operating ram.
uni-fu ?
thank u for the reply , i guess it would b a much better use of those few megabites .... i d really like to give it a try , but .... what is uni-fu
That'd be kung-fu for universals, ie, not something we ordinary mortal users can expect to master easily.
is there any links where mortals can learn to b gods
:?:
You're asking a very difficult thing, and dangerous.
I unlocked my Ext_ROM and cleared it, then it would show up in the install list.
I have in there at the moment about 9.5MB of installed programs, so whether it is merged with main storage or not, it is being used.
I'm sure when Buzz has a tool that works for repartitioning the DoC without possibly wiping it and properly bricking, he will let us know.
Right now I'm quite happy that his energies seem to be directed towards the SIMlock =)

new project: modify the HR buttons (plz check it out)

so...my idea goes like this...
1.what is the first thing u think of after your device got lost\stolen??
W.I.M.P (or any other anti theft program)
2.what is the second thing u think of???
what if the person who found\stole my device performed HR(?!)..
ok so what i was thinking of is having a way to change\modify the buttons sequence (witch every body knows) to perform HR so it will be like your own locking code..
****************
another thing that have to be done in order to prevent unwanted HR is to change the "1234" numbers u r being asked to enter when trying HR from the software to a personal code...
****************
unfortunately..i dont have this kind of tools and knowledge to do it so i'm asking u guys...
plz check it out !! it will upgrade the whole security issue...
Well there is also a thing like Clear Storage under the settings page wich also does a hard reset.
u missed the point..i'm not looking for another ways to HR....
no, but a thief can use that instead.
Or upload a program to do a HR.
Best thing to do is to bake WIMP in your ROM so it will be active after a HR. And get a sort of 'own signed' HardSPL so your thief can not flash it.
But I think he could flash the HardSPL, anyway, i think not many thieves come that far
good point !
but where is this coded ?
it must be before device loads bootloader ?! and if so - this is then hardcoded on the mb ... which maybe a bit tricky to change..
but i am sure we do have some more into deep guys on board .. so why not give it a try .. and brick another device ;-)
I think olinex can fix a way to 'sign' a rom with your code, so the hardspl can only flash roms that are signed with YOUR code. Building those roms is not very hard from existing ones I guess.
I am only curious, if the device can be locked in that way so no SPL can be changed (without password/right code/right SPL rom). I don't think that is possible.
Building a functional ROM with antitheft program full running is not hard.
Also make sure, the antitheft program can't be killed by advanced taskmanagers.
At first, it should stay invisible.
But, unless an XDA-noob steals your phone, don't be worried. Just a hard-reset surviving should be enough for 99% of the thieves. No 'simple' thief will know about reflashing and SPL
This looks promising! keep up the ideas!!!
YOu might want to look at this: http://www.pocketpc-live.com/pocketpc-softwares/ultimate-theft-alert-v3-for-pocket-pcs.html
i know it does not do what yo want, but i thought you may find it interesting because if there is some type of security development the messaging and locking features from her are very nice.
how hard will it be to take the official 1.93.456.2 rom and add W.I.M.P to it by cooking???
any links for a guide plz?
Maybe you can try cooking Ultimate Theft Alert v35! into it. Already guides are there which can me modified for diamond. Look here and here.

wow read all of that seems pretty freaking neet
Thanks

I'm not a programmer....
but i think it's simple.. should go something like this:
Code:
if (diamond.stolen) ;
then do "change HR combination" ;
for i in buttons do
buttons.change;
end
i wish i had known more about it and have the guts to try it
ok....i was thinking about it while showering...
when u do "clear storage" u r being asked to enter "1234" to confirm...
all we need to do is change it too....
now...if we change the HR buttons sequence and the numbers to enter for HR from the software......what other way to HR u can use????
i think this is the best solution...
anyone know how to do it?

I am running NRGz 21855 Dec 31st Standard build and it is pretty sweet. A few bugs but it is still nice. NRG also puts out another TP2 ROM which is less than bleeding edge but more stable codenamed Pheonix. Also sense 2.8 (used to be called Manila) has recently been released for the Leo so we will see it baked into Roms including the above listed one very soon!
Omg kroniced thank you to for repling, Im having a hard time with this, there is a good chance im going to be asking for help. Thanks alot for the link man, I really mean it.

Well sadly i dont get alot of time to work on this, only weekends mostly because of work and what not. kroniced send me this perfect really cool ROM on the link of this page, its just like Max Manila 2.5/2.8, its really cool. So im looking around to the pages on how to get it and im stuck at step one. For some reason it keeps giving me a fatal error when i try to back up my phone with Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3. I read from the forums you need to back up before changing ROM's. I dident know that I thought it would be like changing the wall paper or theme of the phone. Sorry really noob at this. I need like a dumbies video of how to do this or some really easy way to understand how to do this please i beg you all lol. Sorry guys this is just giving me a hard time, im gonna try and do it by tonite. please all your feed back is very helpful to me and I thank you all for it, remeber I have the tilt 2. Thank you all, wish me luck! All help is appreshated very much!

So what exactly happens when you run Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3.EXE? Is it a connection error, a program error, a device error? If you have a Tilt2, you probably need to install this to your device before you run the executable. BTW, you're not backing up your device with HardSPL, you're replacing the stock, HTC bootloader with a patched bootloader, a process which you only need to do once. It's also not necessary to back up your device before flashing a new ROM, it's just recommended if you have important stuff saved to main memory, since you lose all the data on your device each time you flash. You will not lose data when installing HardSPL with this executable.
Hay thanks for reasponeding DaveTheTytnIIGuy, here is what the error seys, "ERROR
[246] Device not reasponding" -"The update utillity cannot get respones from your PDA phone. Please check that your USB cradle/cable is connected properly between the pc and your PDA phone. And also check your PDA phone."
Now my phone is connected, im possitive it synced as well. I dont know why is seys that. As far as anything I have on my phone just all my numbers, the rest are things like music witch i can put back on, but thats on my 8 gig memory card.
I down loaded the link named "this" to my comp. How do I get them on my phone, extraced them to my phone?? Not really sure how or what to do.

A .cab is an installer, just like an EXE or MSI on a desktop computer. Don't uncompress it, just put the .cab file as is onto your device, disconnect your device from the computer, browse to wherever you put it with File Explorer Mobile, and open it. Install it to internal memory and you're done. Also, try disabling your Antivirus/Firewall and ensure you have Windows Mobile Device Center (Vista/7) or ActiveSync (XP and lower). And no offence, but you might want to hold off on flashing for a little while, at least until you get a bit more acquainted with Windows Mobile. I recommend that everyone who flashes their device at least understand the technical aspects, since that highly reduces chances of bricking as an end result.
DaveTheTyntIIGuy thank so much I did what u sed and i instolled it with no problems to my phone. You just helped me in a big way. Now I know how to download programes to my phone. So I think I have an idea how to do what i first came here to do. But your are rite 100%, I gotta get a understanding of this before I do anything so I dont screw up my phone. Thank you alot. So now that I downloaded the enablerapinew my phone is ready for when I decide to get a new interface on the phone like the Manila 2.5 / 2.8 / ext. ?
Get accustomed to you phone by doing the minor cabs and tweaks found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524655
Most of this stuff is harmless and will get you use to using cabs and changing things on your phone.

No, that .cab enables RAPI (Remote API) on the Tilt2, which allows programs like the HardSPL unlocker, on the PC, to control the device to an extent, which it needs to do in order to flash HardSPL.
Hi, How can I get the actual version of manila running on my Tilt 2
Thanks
It's listed in this key in your registry:
Its HKLM\Software\Manila\Version

minor correction: HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Version
On the stock Tilt2, the version is 2.1.19183217.0
Note that this can also be seen by looking at the About section of the Settings tab in TF3D.
This is awsome DaveTheTytnIIGuy, the programe you sent me worked. I was suscussfully able to flash my HardSPL, with Rhodium-HardSPL_V2_00R3. Thank you. So now I'm up to the next step witch is finding a ROM.
Is it possible to get Manila without flashing a cooked rom or is manila a cooked rom? I guess what I am asking is Can you get Manila as a CAB file or do you have to flash it as a ROM?

The only way to get a different version of Manila is to change ROMs. If you're using the stock ROM, you'll need to switch to a cooked ROM to get one of the newer versions of Manila.

NAND ?

Hi developers,
i have a big question:
I read some time ago, that it is possible to install android on NAND of the HD2.
My question is : is it possible to install it on the NAND on the Touch Pro?
Because it is really slow, if i run android over MicroSD card, and it would be awsome ,when android runs faster.
Best regards,
BikerBoy030
At the moment (and to my knowledge) the answer to your question is no. User e334 tried but failed and bricked his phone. You can read more about his attempt in THIS thread. He was attempting to find out a few values that are apparently required but he did leave a few hints of his findings in that thread.
By the way, what version or build (neopeek-variants or xdandroid) are you using and have you updated everything to reflect the latest that is out and relevant.
brick !!! too sad
So, is this the end of hope for NAND on touch pro ???
pls somebody told me !!!
For now, yes :enter sadface of choice here: However, the xdandroid dev team are steadily working at improving stability and adding features some doubted at first; such as camera which is, in testing phase atm. The only thing I can say is that, "it ain't over till it's over!"

Just FYI, NAND will not provide any improvements in speed. The optimizations really need to happen in the system, moving to NAND will not solve those problems.
The HD2 guys had a ridiculously complete port of Android when they were still on Haret. We're still not near that stage.
They have it easy, they just rip builds from Desire, etc...
thanks for the fast answer:
that is really sad, that he briked his phone....this is such a sweet phone
I used xandroid, updatet all and could use all programms etc.
But it wasn't smooth...it stocks a bit at all, what it did.
It feels like it used a "bullet-time-mode"
Maybe it would be enought if i willl overclock it to 710 mhz this COULD be enought, but i didn't tested it.
Wich version is more smooth: neopeek or xandroid?
Regards:
bikerboy030
To my knowledge, OC'ing will not help stability. If anything it will make it more unstable. Neopeek builds seem smoother but requires more setup time upfront (multi-partitions and what not). XDAndroid builds may seem rocky at first but are much quicker to setup and it has a nice plug-n-play feel.
n-Joie! (Enjoy)
i had no problems with the stability, it was only too slow.
than i will try neopeek, maybe it feels better.
the problem is: a good friend owns a desire z, overclocked to 1400mhz...that is smooth.....
but if the touch pro works smooth, it would be fine
Well, i can be totally honest to say as far as speed, that XDA android runs quicker then WM does even on my touch pro. I am running wm6.5.5 NRG rom (jan.4), which is pretty zippy to a month ago version of 6.5.5, noticably, but android is actually visually faster. Now that camera is working fine, battery i get around 7-8 hours with little less then normal usage, and would honestly use it SOLELY if it didn't randomly drop data and needed a reset to fix (which i usually just stay in WM when it happens.), but ALSO mostly since at work (IT Tech) i use tethering a lot to grab a driver almost daily (our net connection is 'clear' and is a bit worse in speed then my phone. SAD yes.)
Hmm ... I'm one of those people who eagerly await with great versions of NAND. What exactly is needed to it came to Raphael? Of course, I'm not asking for what must have been fixed and asking, I assume that in theory it already is. Let me add that I've read about, whose founder bricked his Raphael.

Knowledge of how to write a bootloader? What do you mean?
We have one called tinboot that dzo wrote for the vogue guys. That's what the RHOD is using, but A LOT of work needs to be done to get it to work on other devices. It's not even a full NAND flash for the RHOD....

I would like to know what is needed to version NAND and how this process (creating nand and tools that you need, such as the bootloader and other ) should follow you. Of course, theoretically. Perhaps someone from another country would take on this (not everyone knows looks at XDA;-) maybe after the publication of the national forums that someone will take).

I'm no dev, so I won't be able to help you out directly. But look up tinboot, and look at what us TP2 guys have for a NAND bootloader thus far.
ACL has a GIT repo for our NAND tree that is publicly available as well.
