Hi
I wonder if someone used the Remote Desktop software that comes with the Mobile TP2.
I would like to know how to configure with my pc, I tried putting the ip and the domain of the network and says the computer name or IP is wrong or failed network connection.
Please a little help
Thanks
I tried with the usb cable connected to the pc and give me "the problem of computer error or wrong ip or network connect problem", and I tried connecting to the wirless router and keep trying to connect but in the end appears "the remote computer is not configured or has been reached the maximum number of connections, or network connect problem".
All help is welcome
Thanks

Does your phone connect to the internet?
does your computer connect to the internet with public ip address?
Remote Desktop to Windows 7 works fine. I know that doesnt help you much but atleast the app works!!
Do you have XP Pro? Ya need Pro to enable RDP

It works fine for me Vista & XP, Spain to Ireland. First make sure that the PC is set up correctly to allow RDP by trying to connect PC to PC, if that doesn't work it's the PC that is the problem.
I use Xp Pro, so its ok!
Hummm gonna try pc to pc and see if it works!
Tnks for help^^

1. It doesnt work if you have NO password for Xp login, so you have to set a password.
2. Enable the Remote acces option
3. Open port 3389
4. Disable Firewall

On your PC:
- System Properties (right click on My Computer)
- Remote tab
- Enable remote desktop check box (check it)
- On firewall, port forward 3389 to the IP address of your XP machine
- Go to http://whatismyip.com and note the IP you are given.
- Try to remote in from your phone with that IP

Hmm... I can't get it to work. My Universal says:
Cannot connect. Likely reasons are:
1. Specified computer name or does not exist
2. A network error occurred while estabilishing the connection.
What I've done:
- Enabled the Remote Desktop on my computer.
- Forwarded the 3389 port to remote desktop in Windows's built in firewall. (I don't use any other one)
- Checked what is my IP
- Started the Remote Desktop Mobile on my Universal
- Entered the IP to the computer name
- Entered a username without any password, and domain
P.S.:
My Computer is behind a router. Maybe I need some other tweak?
P.P.S.:
What is the best Remote Desktop application if this one does not works? Maybe I should try another...
Help please.
Thanks

You need to set up your router to forward it to your PC. "Port forwarding", I think is the word, should be under Server/Application setup on your router.

WOW! You're fast! Try it, and post the changes
Well, I've found some things under my router Remote Management setup.
- Enabled HTTP
- Enabled UPNP
- Enabled PPTP
- Enabled IPSec
I'm quite new in router setup, because I've just get my first router about 1 months ago.
Maybe I'll try to pull out the router, and plug the internet directly to my PC. If it works, than the problem is in my router setup.
I've just realised it if I pull out the cable from the router, I cannot connect my PDa via wifi Saaaad
Now I must play with the router settings
Just a quick question. When switching on the wifi on your universal, which access point does it connect to ? Or you need to setup a adhoc between the pc and universal. Your universal must be on the same ip range as the desktop.
Let me know if this has been done yet.
There is some advice for setting up Terminal Services under XP SP2 at this link.
http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27117
You also need to be able to ping the XP SP2 machine successfully from your XDA. Try vxUtil to make sure that you can do this.
I do this at home through WiFI and it works well, particularly through the 640x480 screen.

Well, I won't encourage you to mess with the router if you don'tknow what you are doing. As of a router, Remote Management setup -> Enabled HTTP sounds to me like that just opened your router to the outside world, and if they are able to brute force their way into your router, your router is at their mercy.
Anyway, since you said that you used your phone and PC at the same router, you ought to able to do it with the LAN IP address, which should start with 192.168. At your PC, Start -> Run -> "Cmd" -> "ipconfig". That should display your network stuff, look for the 'IP address'. Use this address instead of the one you get from whatismyip.com
Sorry for nnot posting this time. I've been busy.
Well,
To hanmin:
I didn't played with the router, because of no-time, but I'll try what you've said. But I know ehat I'm doing, I'm just not experienced about advanced networking. But maybe time will teach me. Or you guys
To mikeycrawford:
Thanks will read it, and if there's any solution try it too.
To wh1t3w0lf:
Well, I want to try remote desktop via internet, not via WiFi. I mean I want to connect to my computer from my work, so I didn't selected ad-hoc connection. BTW thanks for the help
So thank you all your helps, I will have 2 days break, maybe then I'll try all you've written. And of course post the results.
Cheers,

So if he logs in form work, his gilrfried can see what he is doing.
I hope you guys can understand it, I'm writing a bit messy.
So can I do it form my PDA to PC too? And the anwer is yes, can I get a separate program for this? I think my friend uses a program what is called VNC.
And another question: I know the built-in remote desktop in the best program for this process. What are the most useable programs? I mean: best speed, or more beautiful look.
Cheers, and thanks for helping

It is possible.
This is what I do:
-I hook up my xda to my laptop, activesync starts recognizing the device and select the "Allow data connections................on your device while it is connected to your computer"
-Press next it saves the settings, synchronizes, after that I open the browser on my pda.
Give it a shot and see what happens.
Maybe is a matter of rom.

Hi All,
I hope I got this in the right place.
I just bought a new HTC P4351 with WM6(5.2.1622 build 18128.0.4.4) and installed Finster869 WM6_RDP. What I'm wanting to do is connect to my VPN SSL, which I can do fine, and use Remote Desktop to my PC at work to run apps I need to unlock accounts, reset passwords etc.
As I said connecting to my SSL seems to be fine but when I try to run Remote Desktop to connect to my PC I get the connecting... then Cannot Connect likely reasons. 1. Remote computer not setup. 2. Maximum number of connection. 3. Network error. Now I can use my home PC and it works fine. It acts as if my Mobile has the RDP ports blocked or something. Any ideas?
Sorry but I'm really new to the mobile setup. I'm not sure where to start to trouble shoot my issue.
Thanks
Try using VNC. it works wonderfully
hi,
i would like to connect to a remote session configured with aspecific remote desktop port.
with the default rdp client i am unable to connect.
do you known another rdp client for that please?
thank you
have you tried specifying the host as hostort?
Yes I have tried to specify the port like x.x.x.x:3391 (3391 is my remote desktop port)
With my Windows XP Computer, I can connect to this remote port.
The problem is really with the RDP client in Windows Mobile I think
Thanks

I have tried to change the default port through the registry with the application provided in your link but the problem remains :-/
Perhaps it is a restriction from my provider ?
Does someone already manage to connect to a specific remote desktop port ?
Thanks

Hmmm
try a network sniffer either end
http://www.cam.com/vxsniffer.html - 30 day trial on your hd
and
http://www.ethereal.com/download.html - on your pc
checking the outgoing packets and incomming packets
it could be a firewall issue, so check the port you chose does actually get through
otherwise yes maybe you provider

Hi guys, i have a problem! When i try to connect at my PC, it say that:
CANNOT CONNECT. LIKELY REASONS ARE:
1. The remote computer is not set up for this.
2. Reached the maximum number of connections.
3. A network error occured while connecting.
I insert ip name and password. Help ME!
How are you trying to connect? Remote Desktop or VNC?
Are you connected on the network via WiFi?
Is the appropriate port open from your router?
Try to turn off the firewall on your PC or open the appropriate port.

Remote Desktop.
Yes, i am connect on the network via WiFi
What Port i must open?
Yes firewall turn off.
What port i must open? And on what ip adress? On the PC or on the MOBILE Ip Address?
I try on Windows XP and work, but it was blocked on login to PC and say: Account Restricted..
How i can enter on WINDOWS 7 ?
Right click on Computer-> Properties....On the left side choose Remote Settings and select: Allow connections from computers running any version of remote desktop (less secure)
I do it, but nothing, doesn't work! Why?
windows 7 firewall is off?
Status Windows Firewall : Disabled.
i really run out of ideas...did you use on remote desktop the username and password you use to log in your windows 7 pc?
Try to use as username: computername\username
Nothing Would you try to enter and view setting with TEAMVIEWER?
you have to do port forwarding on your router box
3389 and 3900.. but on the xp, i not must open port..
