Tomtom Version 7.915.9196 - HTC Excalibur

Im trying to get this version to work. Apparently it does work on smartphone as some people in the vox forum as done it.
It comes up with map not found and i cant see a next button to even get a trial map. Anyone got this to work on an excalibur?

Problems with TomTom7 on Touch Pro 2

Hi, I see some threads that suggest TomTom 7 can be installed on a Touch Pro 2. I bought TomTom 7 on micro SD and it won't run. I get a message "Your device is not compatible with this version of TomTom NAVIGATOR!" Is there something simple that I am missing that is causing this. TomTom support were no help.
Offtopic: Why not ask your question in one of the threads you have found
Ontopic: Officially the TP2 is not supported at this moment. It will work, just ask Google
Hi PGLion.
I started a new thread because none of the other threads were actually about TomTom7 on the TP2, they just gave me hope!
On the ask Google suggestion, I may be a bit slow, but I have not found anything that helps me. If you have a link that you think will help, I'd be very grateful if you could post it.
TT7 on TP2

yes,
try >"7.910" "(9196)"< as search terms in google.
before installing that version you should also chek the reports of other users stating that after installation bluetooth stopped working.
You want "ttn7.915.9196.vga_black.cab"
Works fine.
In fact a quick google takes us to this very site:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482075
Bluetooth still working fine for me.
Yes, TomTom7 DOES work on TouchPro2. I use it almost daily. It's very nice.
But it DOES cripple bluetooth (at least the build that I'm using). It replaces a couple of bluetooth drivers in your Windows directory that are incompatable (or so it appears).
If anyone's having issues with this, PM me. I'll find the thread (I think it was at PPCGeeks) that has instructions re: fixing it.

To save looking - you will need to rename or delete the following dll files in the \windows directory:

i too can confirm that TT7 works on TP2, might be best you use a software called cabinstl to install the cab file to your required location
The biggest problem I'm having is some serious GPS lag on my Verizon Touch Pro2 running TomTom (I've tried v6 and v7).
TOMTOM 7 install issues on Tilt 2
Has anyone had problems with the install going automatically to the device and not having enough memory to run?
Mine works, but I have a few issues. The physical keyboard doesn't work correctly (when I type, I get multiple non-english characters entered, but the on-screen keyboard is fine). The keyboard on my previous Tilt (original) worked fine with TT6. It also appears that there's no GPS: it shows reception of 0 satellites, yet it works fine. Seems way to accurate to be getting position from cell phone triangulation. Also, I'm using the "black VGA" map, but there appears to be an issue with POIs. Gas stations were shown on screen in completely undeveloped areas. Fortunately, I wasn't looking for gas.
TT7 (V7.915) working OK on my stock UK Vodafone (WM6.1) TP2 with no major lag or loss of any other features. Gets a lock fairly quickly (10-30 seconds).
Custom POIs are accurate and as expected.
Satellite reporting is behaving itself.
Hardware keyboard: Worked fine first go, then started printing double/foreign characters (eg: A gave A+A(Umlaut)), then back to OK after I went into soft keyboard settings and re-selected English. Exited TT, came back in and hardware keyboard seems OK still.
The only major issue I have is that TT sometimes crashes while loading ("We're sorry..." Windows error screen) and I have to turn the phone off/on to get TT going again.
Edit:

Installing TomTom 6 on Tmobile TouchPro2

Hi guys,
I'm hoping there is a solution to this problem. I received ttn6 (taster edition) when I bought my Kaiser/TyTn II. I've tried to install it on my new Tmobile (US) Touch Pro2, but I get the error: "Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again." Is there is reg edit that will make this work?
Also, does anyone know who to remove TeleNav and all of the other T-mobile bloatware that came on the TouchPro2?
Thanks!!!
It won't work; it wants a QVGA screen.
can you use a screen resolution changer to change resolution first before running TT6?
There are ways to get TT7 to work, but the rules of the forum prohibit talking about it (since TT7 is not sold for PDAs at all.)
TT6 won't install and neither will the "Taster" versions, as they are coded for the QVGA screen and the CAB installer refuses to load them. If you can unpack and get them loaded manually (it IS possible) they WILL run, but will look rather "odd".
i have the tt6 version on dvd i purchased directly from tt last year for my SE p990.
I tried installing last night via tt home on computer to sd card, then put it into tp2.
it installed, but when it got to choose the languag screen, to chose defualt language for tt, i couldnt read it as it was too garbeld.. but i was still able to pick out letters...
i could always purchase garmin or other software, it just makes me mad as i spent over 80$ for it last year....even if the forum could advise on installing tt7, id rather have a program specifically designed to work..
upgrading from my SE p990 was long over due, and i am tired of crashes, unreliable programs, freezes etc.... the last thing i want to do now is start to weasel things to work for my tp2...i just thought a simple screen resolution change would suffice.. kind of like how you can change it on your computer...
I had the same issue, as I had upgraded from a TYTN 2, to get around I downloaded TT7 (7.45 I think) and used my legally paid for TT6 maps, this will work once you sort the bluetooth issue (2 files need renaming I think, easily done, search on here if you get an error when trying to run)
I used WVGAFIX3 by Cotulla, run it on your phone and tell it to use a lower resolution. This leaves a black bar at the bottom of your phone screen but allows older QVGA apps to be run.
When finished re launch WVGAFIX and put it back to full screen resolution.
A bit messy but it does work!!
Do a search for the program!
i will try that...it might hold me over till a better solution comes up.. or i get more $ to buy a better program...
What about iGo My Way? I bought that a while ago for my aretemis because Tomtom was so pathetic and I love this one. Would it install on the TP2 correctly?
IGO 8.3 works perfekt. Older versions may work, if you play with the settings.

TomTom7 Navigator problems

Hi,
I've search the forum to find my answer but with no result... Let me explain my problem:
I'm using Christians WM6.5.1 ROM (latest build). Everything works fine except TT7. I've tried several caps but none of them works perfect... The thing is that it won't recognize the build in GPS module. The app says "No GPS device!"
I allready tried to set the settings to "Another NMEA receiver" on the GPS-baudspeed of 57600 and COM:4... But it won't work...
With my TyTnII I didn't experience any problems but I'm pretty desperate to find the solution so I won't need my old Garmin Nav.System any more.
Does someone has an answer to my problem? Or maybe the same problem?
Please help!
hi.
i am also using christian's rom and i am using tomtom 7 without any problem.did you update your gpsfix data?use quick gps and update your data.if you cant get proper signal it will show 'no gps found'.once you pick up the signal it will work properly.
good luck.
Well the main problem is that the gps device that is build in the xperia x1 wil have to find the gps locations..
The first time it will take about 2 to 10 minutes before it finds the locations. After that first time it will take a few seconds to 30 seconds before it finds it's locations..
I had the same problem and it drove me crazy untill I found 2 posts on the internet that saved my life.
Just place your Xperia somewhere on a table in the garden and wait for it to load.
Greetings from Holland.
If I'm not wrong you should use the internal GPS and set the baudrate to 4800. 57600 is way too large.
Okay, I don't use Win 6.5, but also using 6.1 57600 is not working.
Hi,
I've tried your tip but without any results... TomTom tells me that there were no satalites which I was conected to but still got my location pretty pointed...
I drove the entire way on my TomTom but without GPS fix... I downloaded the newest position with QuickGPS before I ran TT7.
Could this be a bug or is it locating me on another way...?
i am using tomtom 7.915.9196.vga_black.cab without any problem.which radio version are you using?seems you are having very weird problem.good luck.
I use TTN_7.916.9189 and there are not problems
got christians rom too and tomtom 7.xx runs better than under windows 6.1 stock rom
Got it working... Don't ask how I did it Cause I really have no clue...!
But I'm really happy it finally works! Now I've got to see how I can get it into my "On The Road" panel to set it as my default navigator
also using christian's latest clean WWE rom.
it does find some satelites in tomtom 7.9xxxxxx, but still not possible to navigate or find a way.
what did you do?
i even let tomtom run till my battery got empty, but no luck?
maybe its the radio, still got the old one i think?
going to update to 7.915.9196.vga_black.cab now, hope that helps

TomTom Navigator Display Problem on TP2

Hi everybody,
I searched the forum and couldn't readily find anything related to this problem.
I loaded EnergyROM_21885_RHODIUM_17.Dec.2009_Titanium.rar today on my new ATT Tilt 2. And then I loaded TomTom Navigator 6.x for the first time on the Tilt2 immediately after the ROM upgrade, so I have very little loaded on the Tilt2 except what came with the EnergyROM package.
I saw the exact same issue posted in an Xperia X1 forum: "The screen doesn't display properly. In portrait the TomTom screen only shows in the top half of the screen, and there are 3 screens showing up next to other, kind of overlaying each one like a deck of cards. In landscape they space out slightly better and the programme is useable, but still it looks terrible, and using the phone as a sat nav in landscape isnt exactly practical. Basically the tomtom display is coming in at like quarter size. Has anyone seen this or know of a fix or settings that can be played around with for it?" IN response, someone theorized: "I think because TT6 is made for devices 320 x 320 and 320 x 240. X1 has a wvga 800 x 480."
Anybody encountered this problem and have a fix? I hope there is an easy tweak for this. I've uninstalled/ reinstalled and soft reset to no avail.
I have a legal copy of TomTom and it's worked fine on 3 previous HTC Windows Mobile devices including my previous Fuze. TomTom tech support won't help because the TP2/Tilt2 is not on their approved list (nothing manufactured in the past 2-3 years is on the list.) I've seen talk of TomTom Navigator 7, but that must not be sold in North America and TomTom is phasing out any support whatsoever for TTN6 I'm told.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Dave
I got the following from TomTom Customer Support:
The Navigator 7 software has only been released in the European market. There are currently no plans to release this software in North America therefore,we are unable to offer support for Navigator 7 customers. We do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
For further assistance you are more than welcome to contact UK support. For contact information please click the link below:

(I bought a copy through a UK website.)
yep all your previous HTC phones were supported screen wise. They do actually have an offical tomtom 7 out that supports our phone and you can use that however I dont think it will work with your maps. It only works with the newest maps availabe....
You'll have to upgrade if you want to use tomtom on your phone.
That said.. I'll throw you over some more information but it's not anything you cant find by searching google so I wont clog up the forums with it.

HELP !!!
i went to tomtom.com tp2 is nit supported so what do i do now i just dont want to get lost !! gees ? pm is Ok
I feel your pain...I have the same issue with my Tilt 2 with no solution @ this time. No other choice @ this time but to use AT&T Navigator.
Guys (or girls)... a simple search of "tomtom" in the Rhodium "themes, applications and software" subforum will give bring you this thread right at the TOP of the list.
New Tomtom 916.9189 Specifically for TP2 Released
That said... I believe this version only works with some of the newer maps... not the old tomtom 6 versions. Odds are if you are using those your maps are WAY out of date as it is.
I will add that it works perfectly with version 7 or 8 maps. I have been using it since I got my Tilt2 and love it. You will have to update the maps and then reactivate them.
The screen get off during TT navigation
Hello all
I am quite upset as I did not find any solution for weeks. TT7 works fine. Just one very disturbing stuff come up when call ending. Within one minutes the screen get of. All you know that during navigation incoming call interupt navigation screen while you accept the call. Then screen switch back to navigation mode. After hang up, the screen get black in one minute.
Any suggestion please???
Thanks in advance
TomTom Navigator fix for AT&T Tilt 2
I had the same problem as all of you have described with TomTom Navigator 6 not working on my new AT&T Tilt 2. The problem with TomTom Navigator 6 is that it will not support the higher resolution on the newer large screens. I got it to work on my Tilt 2 by installing WVGAFIX4. You can search for it on here on XDA. This app reduces the screen resolution so you can use TomTom Navigator. Make sure you have run this and selected one of the smaller resolutions before you install Navigator 6 on your phone. Sometimes on my Tilt 2 I have to do a soft reset to get it back to the original resolution. TomTom has abondoned us in the US and so far this is the only fix I have found to use Nav 6 on my new phone. Funny they came out with an IPhone app but left out all the windows mobile users.

Now if you mean so that your super old maps still work.. Yes you'd be stuck with the old tomtom... OR you can just get the newer tomtom and buy the updated maps (as I'm sure roads have changed since the tomtom 6 maps were released years and years ago) or heaven forbid do a search on google and find out where else you can get maps.

did i get the wrong tom?tom? software, map?

Hi, everyone. I have been searchng for a whole week for tomtom navigator software that would be able to read my map, but i got no luck. Two weeks ago i bought tom tom naviator software form ebay, the package was brand new and it came with a map and software dvd. the software that came with the dvd was version 6.032. it has a problem loading up due to confilcting resolution. Ive tried navigator 7.45, 7.9 and they seem to work with the phone but it was unable to read the map. Is there a verison inbetween 7.45 and 6.032 that that can work on rhodium and still able to read my map? thanks.

Hate to say it but a little research goes a LONG way. Version 7 software wont work with version 6 maps. You'd need version 7 or 8 maps. Its discussed at length in any number of tomtom related threads on here. If it's pssoble get a refund as you ordered the wrong stuff.
Heard about a guy who managed to run tomtom 6 on his HD2 after installing and running WVGAFIX , Try it.
