I have tested Resco, Spb and Sprite.
Resco seems to backup and restore correctly, but reports problem with closing manilla.exe and some other executable.
I used Sprite once, it seemed ok but in the log it reported that it could not back up QTV.dll. This seems a no go!
SPB seems to backup and restore with no issue. I did not see a log though (and my trial period is over). The only drawback is I did not see it restore individual files as resco does.
I'd like to read other's experience before buying one of these (at the moment my choice is SPB).

I am using SPB for year now. Very happy with it. Give me 100% restore whenever I got screw up with the bad tweak or registered edit or gone crazy . Had done many times of backup and restore with it. Usually SPB will backup everything on your device. (excludes external memory). No issue with it so far.
Spb Backup was the most stable Backup software I ever used! Both Sprite and Resco gave me some errors when restoring a full backup with Manila enabled, Spb wasn't interested in it!
So, if ypou want a good deal between functionality, stability and price: Spb is your choice in my opinion!

Hey guys,
SPB Backup is running for several years now on my Universal and I really don't want to miss it anymore, especially since we're all doing ROM stuff as discussed a lot over here.
Today I bought the new HTC S710 (Vox) and a while playing around I was sad to see that SPB Backup won't install on the Smartphone interface. Ok, I should have known, but a lot of Pocket PC apps WILL actually install and work.
The question now is, what is a SPB Backup like tool for Windows Mobile Smartphone? E.g. like a tool that creates an entire image of your situation which can be restored later.
Thanks for the tips!!
Is there a program finally that is able to backup WM 6.1? If so, where can we find it?
it depends what you want to backup
Other then tha basic pics, music, stuff like that.
What can we backup?
*Asking as a noob cause I'm sure there are people out there, that are not informed on what really can be backuped.*

sprite backup works. now i havent tried a restore from the file it created, but i have sprite backup V6.1.0 build 2192 and creating the backup file works, so i assume the restore works too.
for example i backup the contact and the sms.... if you have wm 6.1 you can use sms pack to backup the sms... look it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378344
Sweet thanks and Sprite restore would, restore what?
i think all... look :
Sprite Backup 6.20
Award-winning Backup for Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 (Pocket PC and Smartphone)
If you have customized your device with productivity applications or if you don't want to lose your call history, SMS messages, pictures, ringtones and more, then make the smart choice for your smart device.
Cool, thanks.
BTW those are some nice lips in your pic. reading your name kills it though LMFAO
nooo... i like this nick....
take sprite backup here : http://rapidshare.com/files/99697656/Sprite_Backup_6.20.rar.html
I dont need a program to back up my stuff.
I use Outlook 2007 for contacts and Calendar.
I pics and music are all my storage card. (Desktop computer also)
SMS can use the program already on the phone. SMS Backup.
Like i said, this was/is for noobs
i think too that this is an unnecessary program

Then remove it.
We upgrade Roms for speed and more free space.
Extra programs only slows down the phones.
i havent update it, i found it for you but it isnt by me
Folks I am no guru like yourselves but hope you can shed light or make some suggestions. I was wondering why performance was so appalling after installing all my apps after upgrading the ROM (btw this also applies to original WM5 from HP) . I have tried WM5, WM6 and numerous WM6.1 ROMS always the same problem.
Issue is filesys.exe taking in between 85-95% CPU until application removed.
I watched the system using acbtaskman
All ROMS work fine after initial install. I see filesys activity during active sync and SD CARD or file system access as expected , but never goes above 50% CPU. I then start installing apps and watched for the issue . This is how it went as I also wanted to track memory usage for leaks as well. All applications are installed on Device not SD Card (except TomTom). Also in most cases this is not USING the apps just installing them.
Action..............CPU..........Memory Hit (Start at 29/30 Meg)
SD Card In........OK............27.5
SPB Mobile........OK............24.4
TomTom...........OK............23.6
mNotes(4)........100%.........24.3 - removed reset
easysync 426....OK............22.4 25.0 after reset
SPB Weather.....OK............25.0
SPB Finance......100%........24.2 - removed reset
MS Money........100%.........24.0 - removed reset (not supported I know)
eWallet.............OK............24ish
SPB Plus...........100%.........24ish - removed
Resco Explorer....OK............21.8
Opera Browser....OK............21.8
Is this just me or do others have problems. Looks to me that old apps and SPB code looks flaky. i.e SPB Plus and SPB Finance. As MS Money 2005 PPC doesn't work (and this was last UK version) and SPB Finance have a real pain that I dont have a working financial application (oh and Ultrasoft wouldn't install).
Found fix
I know I am replying to myself but I found the fix somebody on xda has been kind enough to post instruction on how to patch the program I used in WM5. Here is link to the info :

Is there anyway to create a backup of your current settings, apps, etc. for the touch pro 2? I searched the forum and came up with zilch. I had tried the SPB backup utility, but it doesn't seem to work while touch flow 3d is running. If anybody knows of a utility that doesn't conflict with TF3d, or knows a workaround to get the SPB backup utility to work without removing TF3d I would greatly appreciate it.
I use "Sprite Backup" http://www.spritesoftware.com/
and it works good for me...Tj
I'll second the vote for Sprite Backup. Works fine on the TP2.
Thanks a lot for the speedy response guys, I'll try it out now.
RE: RE: How to Backup TP2
With Sprite, does it back up your APPS also?
My HOPE is to find a backup program that restores my phone just like it is today. With apps that are working and my serial numbers already in.

I think XDA UC Customize does this, never used it so i'm not 100% sure.
SPB Backup
SPB Backup will do what you want, and it does it very well.
I did some heavy testing of SPB Backup vs Sprite Backup about 3 years ago on a whole bunch of 8525's (work related project). At the time, Sprite had a few very serious bugs, but SPB worked great. I still use SPB Backup today.
If you're wanting to back your stuff up so you can flash new ROMs and do a minimal amount of work to get your apps/settings back, you should try SASHIMI over at winmo-experts. It takes a bit of work to learn and setup, but its well worth it
I'm aware that the new stock TM Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade has a program on it called Mobile Backup. On the ROM I'm using now I have PIM Backup. Specifically what I'm looking for is how to backup email settings without having to do it every time I flash the device. I'm also there are ways to create your own cabs, I assume XML; but I am far from having the expertise to do this from scratch myself. I get that most of these programs will save my contacts, messages themselves but it is the settings itself though I'm a reasonable guy if a program does it all I'm not going to complain; any ideas? Thanks in advance!
