Just wondering how well the Touch Pro 2 functions when holding with one hand?
- How easy is it making Phone Calls, Call Holding, Mute, Switching from speaker, handset, to bluetooth, Contacts, Display Keybad, etc?
- Can one text with one hand without sliding out the keyboard with on screen keyboard? Does it have a on screen keyboard
like the iphone and autocorrect when trying to text from portrait? If it does how responsive is it releative maybe someone who has used the iphone?
- Can one use the web browser without sliding out the keyboard? Can you easily navigate without having to sliding out the keyboard?
I guess overall what I am asking is that I currently have an iphone and what I really liked about it was being able to use it so well with one hand. So I am just wondering how well it functions without having to slide out the keyboard?
1. easy, Smart dial, instant touch controls for speakerphone, hold, mute bluetooth switchover, keypad display. It doesn't get any more convenient or faster.
2. HTC's touch keyboard is a breeze. Think iPhone's keyboard with a little dash of T9. Also auto-predicts add in your most commonly used words. Almost forgot, smart dial also uses most commonly used numbers.
3. Ditto on Opera web browser or Skyfire. browsing is a snap in landscape or portrait mode.

Simply put, yes, yes and yes. Try the Touch Pro 2. You will have at least 14 days with some US carriers before you can return and get your money back.
Think iPhone, but not locked down AND it has a physical keyboard too!
i had a iphone 2g and 3g jailbroken etc did alot of custom ****, gave them both to family members for tp2. It to me is a better phone in every aspect.
I find the onscreen stuff fine but actually trying to press the hardware keys while holding the phone in one hand is quite hard. You have to really strech your thumb down to the bottom of the screen, the buttons are right on the edge, that is poor design really but I guess its to maximise the screen size.
I actually dropped the phone trying to do this.

I am strongly considering ditching my Treo 700w for a Dash. The reason: due to the severe memory limitations on the Treo 700w, I am forced to use the Treo 700w more like a smartphone than a pocket pc phone.
For example, Voice Command and Transcriber are unusable since neither can be used while another app is running without the device crashing. For me, these are defining features that are unusable on the 700w. Also, the 240x240 screen is too small to make pocket excel useful, or to read e-books. Windows media player is decent with a 2G storage card so music playback is acceptible, but the small screen hampers usability for viewing pics or videos.
As a result, the one thing that has consistently impressed me about the Treo 700w, and which keeps me from smashing it in frustration, is the ease of placing calls, doing PIM lookups, and performing google searches on the go using one hand. How does the Dash compare? Given the lack of a touch screen, I am concerned that one-handed operation is severely impaired - especially compared to the Treo 700w. Thoughts?
the dash/s620 has to be just as good if not better, otherwise there's no way to navigate on smartphone os
Thanks JwY. I realize that navigation on smartphone OS has to be via buttons since there is no touch screen. What I was wondering was whether the Dash would require more keystrokes/actions to do something that is done with less effort with the Treo 700w --given the UI extensions that Palm has developed for the 700w.
For example, while driving I can dial someone by just using my thumb to enter a few letters of the name, using the dpad to scroll to and select/highlight the right name then pressing the dpad center button to dial. This works way better that the T9/xT9 on a PPCPE device as the 700w will find the name I'm looking for after only 3-4 letters.
Another example: while driving I can do a one-handed google search by scrolling down to the google search panel, then using my thumb to enter the search phrase, then use the d-pad to scroll through results. If the results include phone numbers, I can use the dpad directional keys to navigate to the number I want then press the dpad center button to dial.
Checking voicemail is also virtually effortless on the Treo 700w due to the voice mail applet.
Net-net, the Palm UI enhancements on the 700w are a step above what is natively included in WM5 from my experience -- and therefore hard to step back from. That's why I would love to hear from someone who has used both the 700w and the Dash.
i think you also posted this on hofo? i gave you a more detailed explanation there, so i hope it helps. if not let me know, then i'll retype it here (i'm more active on hofo).
I Have The 750v And The Dash, Im Using The 750 Now But The Dash Is Great, Better Screen And Easy To Use . However The 750 Is Easyer In The Phone Functions. Just Get Rid Of Your 700 And Get A 750
I went to my local AT&T corporate retail store to try the Tilt 2 again because the first device I tried at another store seemed slow and not responsive. I had a similar experience this time around too. But I have to believe that most of that can be chalked up to the fact that it has the stock ROM on it and also every noob in the world has messed with it inside the store. But it did leave me with a few questions.
I could not get the screen to go landscape unless I flipped out the keyboard. And when I pushed the keyboard back in it would go back to portrait even though I was still holding it landscape. Is this a setting somewhere? I thought the Tilt 2 had a true accelorometer.
When in the browser I would touch in the URL line and start typing out a www address. But every time i would get a few letters into it and another text field would open at the bottom and start intercepting my typing. Anyone know what that is?
While the Tilt2 is equipped with an accelerometer, TouchFLO itself is not designed to re-orient itself in landscape using just the accelerometer.
That being said, some applications do go into landscape mode when you turn it with the keyboard closed. The Windows Mobile SMS application, some versions of Opera, and other various apps. Otherwise, to "force" landscape the keyboard needs to be open (or use some 3rd-party app/tweak).
Also, out-of-the-box, the stock ROM is actually pretty responsive and fast. Its one of AT&T/HTC's better built stock ROMs out there. Of course there is always room for improvement. I suspect the slow/unresponsiveness is due to the fact that its a demo unit thats already been messed with.
As for the additional text field in the browser, I have no idea what that is. Only thing that pops up normally during normal browser usage is auto-complete that makes URL suggestions.

You can use G-Config (available here on xda) to add programs (including TF3D and the Start menu) to the sensor database. Works great!
I have mapped one of the hardware buttons (long press on the answer key) to rotate the screen. Find it better than auto rotate depending on the orientation.
I love this phablet. Came from lg g3 and I have to say I love the Note 4 little more.
But there are a few things that I don't like. I hate actually.
1. The bottom of the phone, non-screen area. Space is small vertically and I constantly launch an app on the dock when trying to press the home button. Especially when using the phone one handed. Samsung could have moved the screen up put the logo on the bottom to make the space larger. This is a QA usability fail.
2. Fingerprint sensor limit to 3. While I was able to program 6 fingers, it doesn't always work well and needs multiple swipes. I also would like to see apple like sensor that doest need swiping.
3. IR remote software is terrible. Just give me a programmable remote like LG G3.
4. Front camera distortion. With wide screen format the distortion is so bad at top and bottom I can't believe it made it pass the QA..
While I can't really say much about points 1, 2, and 4 I can say there's this really nice remote app in the play store "Smart IR Remote - AnyMote" by Color Tiger that works really well though I think it's a paid app.
Point 1: I have never launched anything while pressing the home button. I even have a case on which reduces my flat usable space to push it. This is not a "QA fail", it's your personal preferance.
Point 2: I use my thumb which I scanned in twice holding the phone 2 different ways to compensate for different usage scenarios and I get it the first time 95% of the time.
Point 3: I agree that the IR software could be better, but I think it is better than HTC's. The software on my One M8 wouldn't work with my DVD player. With the Note 4 the setup was faster and it works with my TV and DVD player.
Point 4: I honestly haven't used the front camera, so I can't say much on it. I will check it out since you mentioned it though.
I agree on all points except #4 because I NEVER use it, but number 1 happens to me often. Maybe I just have big thumbs, but I am constantly launching something or hitting something when I press the home button. Best phone available IMO, but everything can't be perfect for me.
Number 1 used to happen to me all the time. I Just moved the icon from above the home button. Problem solved!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using XDA Free mobile app
Press with the edge of your thumb and I bet it won't be a problem anymore. That's how I do it.
Try pie controls and set one of the first row as your home button... I never even press the home button anymore. Saves a little wear and tear over time as well.
some launchers allow for adding vertical padding, i don't know if it applies to the dock area but it's worth a shot if you're not set on using samsung's launcher. personally i have more issues hitting icons or long pressing by accidentally touching the sides of the screen when gripping the phone vs hitting something while trying to press home. but that could just be because we hold the phone in different ways maybe.
i have pretty good luck with the fingerprint sensor so long as my fingers aren't grimy or sweaty. but i found it to be generally a worse setup than the iphone (which works surprisingly well and fast) i turned it off after about a week. if it wasn't a swiping gesture i probably would have left it on as i found it awkward to swipe my thumb while trying to hold the phone.
3 and 4 i don't really use so i can't comment. i tried out the IR and it worked fine with my projector. i'll take a look at the FFC and see if i get any distortion.

I cna very agree with 2), I love apple's implementation of the finger print scanner. I hope we see future phones utilize the same way rather than require swipes.
3. is very solvable by using a programmable remote on the app store (smart remote IR+) which is VERY nice.
The rest I do not really have any experience or trouble with but we all use our phones differently.
I bought a remote app. But I feel like I shouldn't have to buy another app with a phone like note 4.
I'll try the home software button on dock.
Longtime owner, user, tweaker. I have an ongoing beef with some odd pen functions, but I am using a Wacom Feel Stylus designed for this pad. When I am randomly surfing and click on a link to open it, I get an onscreen search bar that refuses to respond to almost anthing I try to do with it. And, in my own world of necessities, the pen is my only type of input. I have limited fine motor control with my fingers and most screens do not interact well with them. Hence, the pen and the reason why I will keep this tab alive for as long as I can.
Does anybody know some hidden pen settings that will turn off this anoyingly random search bar? I guess I need a fresh pair of eyes, too. ;-Deano
btw- I do have the aftermarket(paid) pen command app but see nothing relevant in it for this minor PITA
I installed Bliss 11.10 on my old Panasonic Toughbook. I'm pretty impressed so far, other than my touchscreen seeming to be out of calibration, and if I try to use the stylus it "touches" about half an inch away from the screen. Never the less, it's functional, except I can't input text without plugging in a keyboard. When I touch a text field a little keyboard icon pops up next to home on the panel, but I can't get it to do anything. Is there a way to just make it automatically open the keyboard when I click a text field?
