REQ: French kmap - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Could someone please upload the et9.rhodium.* kmap files (windows folder) from a french azerty tp2

With pleasure... But inside these files, it is written QWERTY and the map of the second line starts with Q (as expected for a QWERTY keyboard).
Harvey

However, here they are :
http://www.geocities.com/hrowson/et9_french_tp2.zip

How the hell do you get this to work :
Format:
// c0, c1, c2, c3,..ck, where
// characters on the first column (c0), trigger the dead-cycling
// (c1,...,c3,c1..) when Symb + [first column character] on SP,
// or Fn + Space (PPC) and the current character macthes character
// on the first column.
this is from "eT9DeadKeys.txt"
With my TyTN the "Fn" + "Space" used to role through the "special caracters", "e"->"é"->"è"->"ê" for example.
How do you do this on the TP2 ?
Thanks for help (this is the source of my mapping keys question earlier).
Harvey

Oh.. looking closer in eT9.Rhodium.040C.kmap.txt I noticed it looks like the french layout despite the comment that says it's QWERTY.
Tomorrow I'll try fiddling with it to change
// Row 4
{0x10 0x10 0x10 0x14 0x00 0xff} // CAPS - 0x14 = VK_CAPITAL
{W W W W W 0x13}
{X X X X X 0x14}
{C C C C C 0x15}
with something like
// Row 4
{0x10 0x10 0x10 0x14 0x00 0xff} // CAPS - 0x14 = VK_CAPITAL
{W W W W W 0x13}
{X X X X X 0x14}
{C C C Ç Ç 0x15}
Would you guys say the would allow me to get "Ç" when pressing "FN" + "C" ?
Harvey

Thanks Harvey... indeed the 40C keymap shows AZERTY layout.
However, even after update of reg [Mobile Device\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\Ime\KeyboardLayouFiles\07FF to eT9.Rhodium.040C.kmap.txt it still types QWERTY
Anyone an idea ?

You might want to check the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537707
You can map the french characters yourself and make it te default keymap.

Awesome!!!
just be careful to change the one before last "C" - aka the 4th "C", not the 3rd "C" as shown in the wiki.
you just solved a major problem I had with my TP2.
Now it's just about...perfect.

any of you fellas that made it work can make a cab file fix ? or registry fix for samishi ? Merci

HTC 8525 (AT&T) upgraded to WM6 - Some keyboard keys are incorrectly mapped

Hi All,
I bought an AT&T 8525 phone and installed WM6. Since then, there some keys that are incorrectly mapped and there is no possibility in the OS to modify them.
The incorrectly set keys are not the standard ones but the ones accessed by pressing the blue dot key (upper marked symbols).
They are: Q displays ! instead of ~
W displays @ instead of !
E displays ? instead of @
A displays _ instead of ;
S displays " instead of -
D displays : instead of _
F displays - instead of ?
Has somebody experienced this and perhaps managed to solve the problem? In the ATT forum there is a CAB file (Shortstring...) but it does not work.
Many Thanks for your support,
I hope this information will be useful for other 8525 users,
Best Regards,
Adriano

I have an 8525 and it worked fine for me.
you can also locate and install Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool v1.1, it has many useful features including the one to change the language set of the keyboard... I chose English instead of Cingular, since I don't have the Cingy/ATT branded version... if you have the 8525, then you select the Cingy layout...
I can concur... choosing CINGULAR in Schaps Advanced Config tool fixes the keyboard problem. Thanks Schap

I have also had this same problem with my 8925. I have tryed everthing suggested, including changing the registry keys myself. I have still yet to figure out how to solve this problem.
So far I have tryed in the Advanced Config Tool:
English Reboot and Nothing
Chinese Reboot and Nothing
Cingular Reboot and Nothing
German Reboot and Nothing
Any other suggestions?

Hold up. Looking closer. I see that what you have listed is the settings I need. Here's what happens on mine
Q Key return @ instead of !
W Key Return ! instead of @
T Key Returns # instead of a *
V Key Returns a * instead of a #
X Key Returns a & insight of a "
S Key Returns a " instead of a ;
D Key Returns a % instead of a :
C Key Returns a : instead of a =
L Key Returns a = instead of &
Again,
I have tryed Advanced Config with most of the languages and still had no luck. Could it have something to do with the ROM?

[Q] [Desire Z] Special characters

Hi all !
I tried to look for a thread talking about that, but I didn't find some ...
I have a problem with my Desire Z, with the physical keyboard.
I need to write specials characters like the : < or the : > and others
But I don't have them on my physical keybord, even if I do the key : FN + Symb I have only few special characters ! where are all of special characters I have with my tactical keyboard ??????
If someone has few informations about that, that would be very helpfull !
Thanks for reading my poor english.
On the G2 i hold Alt and K to for like 2 secs and a small menu will pop up allowing me to do 3 additional characters one of them is >. For the desire z i am guessing my alt button is your FN button. Give that a try
Thanks for the answer.
I tried again to long press on all the keys of the physical keyboard. I have other specials characters with most of the keys but no < or > ....
And for the letter : K , I have only one other character : ?
I dont know why its a : ? ....?!

This works the same on the Desire Z
Hold FN & K for 2/3 seconds & a menu pops up with '>'
Hold FN & J for 2/3 seconds & a menu pops up with '<'
Doesn't work on the German version of the DZ...all I get when I press and hold FN-K is:
üüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüü
...because the German Umlauts sit on jkl. Hoping for an Update...
Maybe I have to say that I have french Desire Z.
I think it's a problem with the localisation of the language .... maybe, maybe not ...
I up the post !
nobody have informations about that ?
Desire Z HW keyboard problem
hi to all,
i have purchased htc desire z from O2 (CR) and also had a problem with HW keyboard, on the second row from the second or third key the special characters were shifted by one key....
O2 wanted to exchange the phone for a new one immediately, but a second phone we unpacked at the store had the same problem....
ive got my money back, and i have no new phone 8((
im so far hesitating to purchase the phone again elsewhere....
I have the german version of the desire z and for > and < you can press the FN key with the key label SYM and an magnifying glass on it
Weird, as my German Desire Z (stock Sense ROM) with German keyboard setting only allows these characters with the SYM button:
'...' ¥ · ® © ± [ ] { } \ |
Holding Fn + something else for two seconds doesn't work for any key.
Same problem.
I dont know if some dev can correct the problem, I think its software and not hardware.
I will try to call HTC to know more about this problem
EDIT :
I just called HTC center. After 30 minutes on the phone, they don't have a solution for me, their best solution was to use the virtual keyboard, I said it is not a solution for me, I bought a HTC Desire Z to always use a physical keyboard, and if some countries don't have this problem, why I have to stay with this problem without doing something. The guy on the phone told me he will send this problem higher and if he has informations he'll call me back.
Maybe people who have the same problem can call HTC to show to HTC that it's a permanent bug, permanent missing option and we need this option back. (I need in fact, but I think I'm not the only one who need the < and > when I use my physical keyboard)
I'll give new informations as soon as I have news
Thx again for reading my f****** poor english

Yes without doing something it's only possible with virtual keyboard.
But if they do something, they can "fix" that by including < and > in the FN+Symb combo popup.
It's easy to say something like that. But for a customer like me, I can't let them saying that. Why because I'm using a Azerty Desire I dont have these characters and why US people have them correctly with their physical keyboard, in fact there is no problem for US keyboard, only for French keyboard (and I guees German too).
It's not my problem, it's their problem, and I hope they will fix it.
Saying to use the virtual keyboard is a funny joke, when we know that the Desire Z has a physical keyboard ! People you buy this smartphone does it because they don't want to use the virtual keyboard ....
These kinds of answers make me crazy so sorry because its totally stupid and think people are stupid, I AM NOT !
I agree with you. Yes, it is normal to expect that you will be able to input the same characters on the HW keyboard.
I do not understand why they left them out.
Especially weird seems leaving out different characters on different layouts while barely/not using the symbol key and pretty much omitting Shift-Fn-.. combinations...

Does anyone know if at all possible to swap the Z and Y symbols on a QWERTZ hard kb on an Austrian Dezire Z?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Work-around (lame but nonetheless)
Hey all,
I ended up here yesterday, also looking for a way to input the "less than" or "greater than" symbols (<, >) on my Desire Z using the physical keyboard.
I don't have a solution, but I have found a workaround that is acceptable to me (until somebody finds out how to add symbols to the SYM list ).
Just enter the symbols as "quick text". Then, you can press then MENU button on your keyboard while typing, press "quick text" on your screen, and then select the symbol you want.
It's a good idea to delete the default quick text messages (unless you actually use them ), so that you won't have to scroll to select your symbols of choice.
I know it's far from perfect, but better than the only other way to get to these symbols. At least for me (Desire Z bought in the Netherlands), I would have to:
1) close phone
2) tap text area to activate onscreen keyboard
3) tap '12#' button
4) tap '1/2' button
5) tap symbol (e.g. '<' or '>')
6) open phone again and continue typing
I also know this is a pretty obvious "workaround", but I thought that the possibility that it might provide some relief to somebody somewhere made it worthwhile typing it out
For the rest, but the way, it's seriously an amazing phone (and OS)! My previous phone was a Touch Pro, with Windows Mobile 6.5 I think (or 6? Don't even remember - and never got around to flashing it, sad as that may be ), and this is amazing. I'm not so much of an Apple person, but I can now for the first time understand what they experienced when they played around with an iPhone or Apple for the first time. The gap in functionality and userfriendliness is mind-boggling.
So, bar the fact that it's not so easy to type "<3" anymore, great phone
< and > characters have been added to the SYM list in the OTA 1.72 version I know this version has been pulled out by HTC but I'm sure the SYM list will also be updated in the next OTA.
But I still can't find the degree symbol. Am I missing something?
Sent from my Vision using XDA App
What still is totally missing is the clause symbol (§). I did not find any way to type this (neither hard- nor softkeyboard). I really hate it, as I need it regularly.
The '<' and '>' characters are available through the C and V chars.
@Becksman: I found § in the 'S' menu.
(Although I'm not sure for the Sense ROM, I'm on Cyanogen 7)

[Q] Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 keboard(HW)

lo, and respect!
I have a question regarding the new Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0.
The only reason for me purchasting a desire Z, is for the hardware keboard.
I currently run virtuous, and have some issues
I`m from norway, and we have the letters æ,ø,å
Thise only com as cappital letters and so do the letter i (Æ,Ø,Å,I)
it dosen`t matter if i do a backspace, or anything else. (the only way around it is to close the hardwarekeboard and type the letter with the software one, and then go back to the hardware one) The hardware keboard also only have english as a possible selection of language. (don`t know if this things are "connected")
So, the question: Will this be fixed ?, I hope so, cause I really would like to stay with this ROM. If not fixed, thats ok 2, I would really like 2 know. So that I eventually can seartch for another ROM
did you try long pressing the hardware "a" key to get to Æ and Å and the "o" key to get to Ø... on every rom

Thx for the reply!
I do have the letters. When I type it gos like this: sÅve, lØve. - and I would like it 2 go like this: sove, løve.
The problem is only 2 the letters Æ, Ø, Å and I.
btw
the letter Å - I can get å with Fn Å, obvious that don`t work with the letters Æ, Ø and I

I don't get it, I'm able to get the æ and the ø simply by long press. runing Unity 1.24
Yes, I can also do that.
Here is the thing:
I have a scandinavian hardware keboard - with the lettere æ,ø,å on the keboard.
The keboard is the reason why i got my desire z.
Obvius, I type a lot, having 2 longpress the letter a (and so on) and selekting letter from the meny isn`t any god -takes 2 long time
What I was woundering is if this ROM will come with a scandinavian HW keboard.
Then the problems with my letters will be gone - I think
Btw, thanks for input

PROJECT - wireless Keyboard, send WP7 keys via wifi, like bluetooth keyboard

Hello, Im starting a new project. The concept is simple.
Send ip packages to wp7, and a background task translate it into keyboards inputs. so it will works like a bluetooth keyboard or something.
I already able to simulate keyboard inputs. but it only works with special keys such back, home, search, volume, play, lock... when i send a `A` key,, it doesnt make any effect.
but my goal is to send char keys inputs.. im trying to somehow enable the "hardware keyboard". like when we press PgUp into the simlator and type text into it.
I calling the WM6 method EnableHardwareKeyboard(TRUE). but it has no effect also.
Im also sending my current project. The vs2008 for the native dll (for sending keys) and the vs2010 for the silverlight app..
Please, anyone can help me this simulated hardware keyboard works?
Thanks
and... for testing purposes.. the 177 is a Volume Key.
Maybe the problem is exist because there are no GWES keyboard driver inside system.
You should try to test it on HTC Gold or on another device with built-in QWERTY keyboard. It may work there . . .
What kind of inputs u tired already?
unfortunately i dont have any device with hardware keyboard.
I just tried keyboards inputs, with sndKbd_event() function.
If you guys have a device with built in hardware keyboard, i would like to send a app to you.. that prints all inputs detected... I want to see if there are any specifc behavior when a user "opens" the hardware keyboard.
why not. upload fully working XAP
Im uploading xap and source for it.
Its log into text box ant key event... So please. open app, and open and close the hardware keyboard. Let us see if something appears in there ! =)
I installed it on Gold. well, UI is not really clear so my observations:
1)when I slide keyboard out it seems no effect on the program.
2)when I press 'a' on the hardware keyboard "65down" and "65up" appear (0x41 is 'a' symbol) as well 'a' appear as text.
3)if I enter at the right edit box "65" and press "Send key" I see 65down and 65up, but no 'a'
the same thing happens to me too. Maybe i should make more research in wm6..
Or maybe try to simulate the inputs via "mouse pointer".. Tring to artificially press the soft keyboard.
For now I don't know how to simulate those keys .... Unfortunately.. I have no clue after all..
Thank you very much cottula. .. This means that the hardware keyboard does not send any key event when opened..
I will try to study a little more the wm6 core.
Best regards.
I've got this somewhat working, just need to figure out all the keycodes
Edit. And hiding the virtual keyboard on device would be nice too
Edit2. So I can send volume keys and such and they work, still have to get qwerty keys working so I don't have it any more working than you guys have...
For some reason.. the qwerty Keys does not works...
All KeyCodes for Windows Mobile are decribed here at this post.

Yeah, I made a new app myself, completely in C# that runs in the background and hosts a server and I sent the keycodes from my laptop via wlan. I could use volume keys, also delete key worked and enter key worked too. Tried those in word. Figured out the key code of the back button too. So, no idea why qwerty keys won't work. Maybe we need to get the phone think that it has a external keyboard (like pageup does in the emulator)? Could cotulla get a registry dump with hardware keyboard open and closed and compare them?
We tryed using this with a phone with hardware keyboard. And this is the result.

It seems that the presence of hardware keyboard has no effect after all on app behavior. there must be another configurarion that send the correct key to the form, but i didnt know it yet.
I made a litte research on WM6.5 and there is another C++ native method to send Keys, maybe i will try them soon..
Plase. can you send me you app that already runs with background task??

I'll put it on github so everyone can help us figuring this out. It's pretty basic, done in Visual Studio 2008.
Ok, so the solution will be here: https://github.com/jessenic/RemoteKeyboardWP7 as soon as I've got Git extensions installed on my laptop. You can fork that and submit pull requests. I could also add you to the admins of the project if you want. I started working on toast notifications, but they need an int32 appid and I haven't figured one out yet.
Edit. Committed. Maybe the keyboard ID is wrong? WinCE7's keybd_eventEx's last argument is the keyboard ID.
Is the time between the sending and the receiving of the enter, or del key, big? Or is it quick?
