AC - Naked ROM
This ROM is designed for "professionals", that is, someone who needs functionality and raw performance over endless crap, gimmicks and slow animated uselessness.
Testing shows it to be extremely fast, uses 45% of memory day-in-day out.

Use it if you meet this criteria
1. use the stylus often and dislike big controls designed for fat fingers
2. need raw speed and good looks without animation
3. want minimal installed cabs so you can use your own which you keep in /Storage
4. do all your Comms (phone, messaging, tasks, calendar) from the Today screen
5. use your device as GPS on the move (tested with Garmin, Microsoft Voice command over bluetooth)
6. do not use MMS, upload to facebook or youtube.
7. prefer original WM over HTC apps and feel where possible
8. hate Microsoft Media Player and use CorePlayer or Pocket Player Bundle
9. prefer Voice Command to read out your calls and text messages rather than fancy ringtones
10. don't like Titanium or Manilla that much ('cause it ain't included!)
Installed apps
Adobe Reader 2.5
Office (without Onenote)
Total Commander (replaces Explorer)
HTC: FM Radio, Calc, Camera (inside Pictures & Video)
.NET 3.5

Known Issues
prob: no longer asks for screen calibration on install.
fix: Do manually via Settings > Screen until I find a fix.
prob: after installed you'll get a white screen saying "please wait".
fix: Hit one of the top icons and it'll go away.
note: I'm looking for a fix without enabling HTC's RunCC.
prob: clicking the battery icon doesn't do anything (it should really invoke power).
fix: access manually via Settings until I fix.
prob: screen text is default (one size too large imho). Need to find the registry key to notch it down a level.
fix: do manually via "screen"for now.
prob: the background is a gif as I can't workout how to get the compiler to use a jpg for the Default_stwater.
fix: none
issue: slight colour banding because of it.
prob: empty Tools folder on Start-Menu.
fix: delete it from /Windows/Start-Menu/Programs
issue: can't find the location to kill it so you'll need to do manually.
Do you have pics of your version ?

AC - Professional ROM
This ROM is designed for professionals.
It is extremely fast and uses 41% of memory whereas most take 60-70%.

Don't you think it would be fair to mention that those "most" roms are using TF3D, and you are not?
There are many roms, in which you can have this "professionalism" in memory and speed if you switch off all interfaces and leave bare WM.
So, be fair, and change this line. Compare it ONLY to bare roms without manila. Then it may be not so super-special, but just another rom without manila....
But of course the "professionals" will see it. It's the "not professional" who may fall for this advert....
P.S. If I switch off manila, then I have 39% after boot-up (with lumos, and other software in background). Is that something special? Not, it's standard. At least with Nataly roms.....

Dude cut him some slack.. The guy is just contributing his work. It wouldn't hurt to make a general comparison of his rom with others regardless if it is with touchflo or not since he is not asking money for his rom. At least he did not name 'whose roms were those.' If he wants to call it a professional rom then so be it, nobody has monopoly over that word is it not? Let the user judge for himself if this rom is worth his while or worthy of such title.
Here's two reasons ...
1. there are no startup or scheduled services running so battery life is rather good. In standby last night with no activity and full charge the battery still shows as full (that's 8hrs standby!).
2. there is no Manilla OR Titanium. Which other ROM does that? There is no Windows Media Player. Which other ROM does that?
You'll have to try it out and see why.
Other poster >> I'll zip up the kitchen and post as soon as I get a moment. What are these two packages - if they really add value I'll include them for next release.
Look, I'm cutting slack, etc but... If you publish something, then it's up to public to judge it.
So, it's good there's another cook, only let's be fair. It used to be, that such roms were called inthe thread title [naked] or [no manila] or anything else, BUT it was clear.
reason 1 - hmm, to me it looks like the common fault of all diamonds - battery metering, especially at full charge isn't reliable. For me the way to check it is to measure the mAh drain of the battery. This is closer to being objective.
reason 2 - every rom which is provided with kitchen can do that (remove manila), and lately there are lots of those, so practically everybody can adjust the rom to their liking with or without manila or titanium.
Anyway - what I'm suggesting is a clear and consistent naming and comparison of the roms. Since pietrucci stopped doing benchmarks there are no reliable scores to compare speed, memory etc, so people look at descriptions. Therefore those descriptions should be as accurate (and fair) as possible especially when you are trying to compare one rom with the other.
Good luck with your project.
Well I agreed with what you were saying and made the changes you suggested. I've also changed the 41 to 45% memory as this is what it uses with constant usage over a couple days.
A.
snoopy20, will you make a new b.23004 ROM with 2.09 drivers? And kitchen actually yet...

OK, so you've got a fast and stable rom... but a rom that doesn't do almost nothing...!
In that way, it's better buy a cell phone instead of a PPC/PDA...
Ignore the whingers...
..., their venal sniping and their inane comparisons with the work of others.
As the saying goes: "There are none so blind as those that will not see..."
I like that your ROM is geared towards using your phone as a tool, not a toy.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the future...

I agree, cut the chef some slack. I take "Professional" as in 'professional users only'. Naked roms do take some patience and skill to tailor to your needs. Some people want a rom that takes little effort others do want more control.
I''m agree with huisie. You make a good job and this ROM realy needed. First, I d't know any other naked wm6.5 ROM with fresh build within. Sec, I d't know any ROMs without WMP and so many deleted trash.
I think You wrong to call your ROm 'Professioal", but the name "Bussiness" are fit correctly: this ROM not for a play, it's for job.
Truely speaking... I am loving this ROM... Thanks a lot....
Excellent, the first happy customer.
I will update to 30004 soon and aim to wrap up the kitchen asap.
If anyone knows how to or where to ask in order to solve these little bugs please let me know or ask away on my behalf.
PS) I'm after stability and bug-free operation over compiling to the latest XIP release so I wont be doing daily updates. Most XIP updates seem to pertain to fixing OEM compatibility and Titanium issues anyway so it's not so much an issue with my ROM.
PS2) I think TaskManager is mandatory but when compiled into the ROM it doesn't run automatically, hence I provide as a separate package. The compiled voice command doesn't read out calls/messages either which is why that is as a package too (tested and working this way).

Thats the question: is it really time for WM6?
So far i believe that the device cannot digest what we have so far of WM6. Too many non-functional things or bugs if you would like to say =_=
Device auto-locks and asks for password and if you dont have a password you cannot get into the device other than by soft reset. Asks password even for activesync! PDAViet has problem with activesync in vista as it disconnects after 5 minutes. WiFi only turns on from Comm center. Hang up's on 25MB free RAM. A lot of memory leak! 10MB to run SPB Time -_-...
The password/auto-locking issue is main i find very frustrating and also the memory problem. Infidel's ROM is fortunately safe on RAM but not on password/auto-lock.
Need i say any more bugs? If you have anything more to add please do as I am going to stick either with WM5 as someone posted earlier.
WM6 looks nice but it's not fuctional right now I guess!
and I'm really confused about ROMs and Versions!
now I have time to try...but after my classes starts, I think I'll back to WM5 AKU 3.5 and install my programs!
so now playing with WM6 maybe a good ROM will show up soon!

unfortunately I haven't met with ANY of your serius bugs... not a memory leak, not a requested passw without setting it.. not a soft reset in the last 4 days.. I'm using midget's first WM6 rom..
Urm.....
We have a leaved version of an RTM build purely for development purposes.
It's not complete, it was never going to be commercially released for this device, and it's missing lots.
And you're complaining?
It was never meant to be used by non developers. We use it because we like to play with things, but you can't knock it because you don't want to use it due to the bugs, most of those bugs weren't there in the pure base release from Microsoft. They are things we have introduced by installing non WM6 software, hacking the ROM, and so on.
im using the viet pro one and having no problems!
had it for about 3 days now and not needed one reset! still got 20mb ram free, and i use tomtom all day and internet explorer.
as for password on activesync, well my activsynch asked for a password once then asked me do i want it to remember the password, i clicked yes and not been asked since.
Nuclear, you were in on the other thread on this subject:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291291
I don't think this thread adds much to that debate.
I can say from personal experience that I have a friend that has been running the roms on various devices for several months continuously, for low level development, Live instant messenging for 6 hours daily, web browsing over wifi (with Picsel), and general phone use, and never found it to have any significant negative side effects.
In fact, getting rid of the HTC Phone Skin and replacing it with the new default dialler improved the speed of the device so much that he would never go back.
Frankly, with the ability to make custom roms, even if the Crossbow leaks end here, there's still a great deal to be happy with right now.
You've been complaining about the wifi problem for a while.
My friend doesn't find it to be crippling, but I advise him to use VJVolubilis for this anyway, or just the CommManager. The functionality could be hacked back in if required, although it's hardly worth the effort for one extra click.
He's not noticed any major incompatibilities, although he tends to write his own stuff anyway, and no noticeable memory leaks with the default system.
He's also never noticed any peculiar password issues. ActiveSync always worked fine. Maybe he's not been exposed to the problems you've experienced, and this may be due to differences in builds, but in his opinion, even the existing Crossbow leaks are more pleasurable to use then the normal WM5 roms. It's not a major advancement, mostly cosmetic as far as most non-developers are concerned, but still enough improvements to make it worth experiencing at least.

Some people are Mac users, and crave simplicty, in which case I advise them to use a Palm (Sorry, Access Garnet OS device now), some people like to tweak, and play, and learn how to do thigs themselves, which is where we like to play with Windows devices

Vijay555 is spot on there. In my opinion (and I am using Indra's version), the current state of WM6 for the Universal device is excellent, and while still not perfect, way better than any of the officially released roms. I use my Universal for work, I use it really heavily during project meetings, for mail and internet and so forth, and I found no real reasons to complain.
However, WM6 is NOT an official release and if you install and use it, you cannot criticize its bugs. The fact alone that it was not officially made available to you by T-Mobile, Qtek or O2 voids all your rights in that area.
Your only "right" is to help all the goodwilling people in this forum by identifying issues in a positive and constructive manner so that they may be taken along in future releases.
Personally, I think that until now, WM6 (and already AKU3.5 to some extent) has proved to be a breeze of fresh air compared to the older release roms. I will not be going back to WM5, WM6 is stable enough and fast enough for my personal needs.
Nuclear, just some friendly advice. If I were you I would either go back to a release rom and stop whining, or stop flaming the current release and start giving some feedback that is actually useful. We all know that WM6 only came to us by "accident", and that we should be grateful for what it brings instead of pissing on what it doesn't bring.
(Now can someone close this thread please? I think enough has been said about WM6 and its bugs/issues)
I have seen so many complain about WM6, which I definitely not understand. I have been using the WM6 PADVIET 2.00.4 pro now for quite sometimes.
I have to say it is great ROM. It is very stable, it has good performance, battery live is great .
Well Yes agreed it has sure few miner bugs but they are not Stoppages. Looking back all the ROM’s that started here they had as well “bugs” beside missing or not jet functional OS application. Well it is up to everyone whether those miner issues are so important for their own.
As I believe this forum is a kind developing form. We are using ROMs that officially not exist and will never exist for our Universal. Only those guys which spending time and efforts, making it possible to see and operate those in our devices. Those people need our feedbacks to find out issues they were not aware or had not the opportunity to test the functionality of those application. Indeed as we can see after sometimes there are new ROM’s and they are better than previous ones.
Just look to largest software company our Dear M$. it has probably the best programmers, biggest budgets to come up with software’s which suppose to function perfectly . However, it ends up always with upgrades, missing futures. In fact most of the software companies existing because of the deficient’s of M$
However I have seen complain issues which leads that the WM6 seems a crap but many user here do not observe those issues at all. In my previous upgrades to AKU 2.0 ; 3.3, 3.5 etc. I have observed that one same ROM after installation seem really making a lot problem but after reflashing it next time the ROM looks and operates great. Therefore, I have learned to flash a new ROM at least twice before installing my applications.
Talk about application software. Most of the current application software versions are not ready for WM6 therefore some of them giving trouble for entire OS and slowing down or leading miss functions.
Furthermore, all the available WM6 ROMs are routed from only 1-2 different basic version of WM6. Therefore major differences of those based mostly by Reg. tweaking by each cookers.
Well what I am trying to say here is: a child has to learn working before running. It needs support, experience in order to archive running ability. Therefore, peoples testing and feedbacks will lead that this child will run really super fast. At least the first indications are obvious for that.

Hi,
where can I get Indras WM6 Version. I thought it did not come out yet. Can you give me the Link to this Rom Version please?
Thank you...
now try using wm6 on a G4 version of HTC Universal, makes all the difference in the world (trust me, i have g3 and g4 )
I have been using Midget's WM6 ROM for over a week and it works for me! No real problem, me I don't miss video call since not many of my friends got it anyway, WM6 fix my SIP problem, all my major programs work so far. Only thing I would like to fix is the occasional hang after a soft reset.
The new Windows Live is great, spead is great, new icons/graphic is great, no real memory leak observed, no problem with ActiveSync 4.2/4.5 nor Vista, having to turn off Wifi in commgr is not the end of the day. I tried the PDAVIET WM6 ones but could't get my AvantGo 6.2 work on it for love nor money. I am sticking to Midget's WM6 ROM for now and waiting for Helmi's new release!!

Bootloader version 2.1 = G4

Pocket Plus 4.0 has just about every feature that you would want to upgrade ROMS to get. What's especialy interesting to me is the finger scrolling and the program switcher. It also has file compression, multiple button assignments, totally customizable home page tabs, ect. It's pretty nice. Check it out (and no, I dont' work for them.)
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en
I'm thinking about going to meschle's vanilla ROM and installing this. Hopefully it should be very fast.
Try it, Its Cool.
It's the best today plugin/launcher/shortcut thingy I've tried to date. Didn't install the finger scrolling, got it already, nor the task manager, got wizbar, but oh my, the today plugin, wow, it's great, what I always wanted for my phone. I can have shortcuts to anywhere at all. You should all give this a try. I have heard people are finding it buggy, I haven't had any. If you do install it remember to unlock htc home if you are using it, with the home customiser, so that you can put pocket plus on the top of the screen, that way you can have full pages shortcuts.
Buy it, its good for my karma.
I run Meschle's vanilla ROM and SPB Pocket Plus 4.0. It does everything it says on the tin. Far better than most the standard cooked ROM's we see posted (I should know - I've tried them all). Hat's off to Meschle though - his ROM is the fastest of them all.
just a quick question - if you install this and dont like it (doubtful!) how do you remove it? im downloading the cab file now for meschle's awesome awesome touch 2.1

Or to put it another way, you could pay $30 for a bunch of features you can get for free through a choice of excellent ROMs on this site...!
I'm doing just that as well. I have always seen Vanilla as a starting point to customise from scratch- install what you want; obviously the more you add, the slower you go- but, you have a very fast starting point, and a huge degree of customisation. I find the "black" ROMS too slow, and have too much "on the plate"
This works v well with Pocket Plus 4.0. Word of warning though (posted this in the Vanilla 2.0 thread, but it has been ignored! )......
the "smart-scroll" in pocket plus clashes with HTC bioscroll. I could then get neither to work. Using Vanilla 2.0, Meschle suggested what registry entries (all the HTC Bioscroll ones)to remove to remedy this, but they kept re-appearing on soft-reset. As no-one else responded to my post, the only option left to me was to revert to Vanilla 1.0, without the bioscroll.
Tried everything- installing "enable bioscroll", and then uninstalling; removing the registry entries one by one, and all at once. The second option- removing all bioscroll registry entries stopped the top right minimize/close/ok button from working. A trial and error one by one removal exercise from the bioscroll settings in the registry seemed to implicate the "finger pressure" value; but with no extra help (noob'ish) could get no further.
Sorry to ramble on
hmmm? i just downloaded for free? maybe its a trial
I love spbpocket plus. I've been wanting a finger scroll thing and never realised 4.0 had it! never tried biofinger or what ever.
I use black satin atm is it really worth installing a vanilla one and this will i notice a lot of speed difference and what will I NOT have any more if I go that route?

Some of the SPB features seem to be a little more clean and smoother than some of the freeware that we use. And it's a good option for those that don't want to flash thier ROM to get certain features, like bioscroll. And I've donated for all my ROMS.

So, does the Vanilla 1.0 without bioscroll work well with the SPB software? That seems like a perfect combo. I'm also considering downgrading back to WM5 to install this. I've yet to have a WM6 ROM that was as stable as my WM5 OEM ROM. The cooked ROMs are great as long as you soft reset everyday but I think my original ROM was the most stable. If the SPB software is stable on WM5, it may be a good alternative to WM6 ROMS.
@shawndh
Yeh- it's working absolutely fine now- just seems to need no traces of HTC bioscroll to work properly. I have it working across the board (givers tou options as to which software you want to operate it in)- there do seem to be a few teething troubles around (if you check the pocket plus forum on the sob website), and there are upgrades planned eg options to alter screen sensitivity, and increase the no.of progs that can use it; but once you get the knack, it seems to work well with Vanilla 1.0 (thanks Meschle!)
spb is not really recommended
Tried spb plus version n i a not recommended. It is crappy pc and it make the screen really ugly unless you start adding more stuffs. The more stuffs added the slower the loading. HTC home is a much better choice and cleaner look.
Diary and traveler is recommended however.

Yea, I just tried Pocket Plus, Weather, and Diary. The home screen was way ugly compared to HTC Home. I put my HTC Home back on, but I did like the fact that I could DL weather with my proxy
My whole system got really slow and I actually had to uninstall Pocket Plus and hard reset and restore my device. (this happens to me with this ROM when I have custom dialers/comm mgrs not burned in the ROM). I didn't get to see the scrolling action, of course, because I hadn't fully removed all traces of the biotouch/touchflo stuff. But I was really impressed with the Weather & Diary programs. I may just keep those on my current ROM. I hate the fact that HTC Home will not DL weather reports through proxy.
Integrate SPB Diary in HTC Launcher
Hi there,
How do you integrate SPB Diary in TodayScreen (i have HTC Home installed)
without seeing the scroll bar?
Is there any way to customise the place where it apeears?
Can you integrate it as a program in HTC Launcher?
How?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah this is a seriously cool program and our friends at pxdxa have kindly found some iPhone style icons for this.

downloaded an installed on a 8525
kind of slow, I have had problems with this build before with battery life and overall stabilty.
like you said you tested it on a dopod so maybe there is some hardware incompatabilities.
sorry but right after flash flashed right back to schaps 4.22. Maybe you need to spend more time tweaking to accommodate for user with other devices

Really? What did you use to test this? The hardware between the 8525 and Dopod 838 Pro is identical except the keyboard layout (tytn vs 8525). I used to run schaps ROM on my dopod for quite a while, and I didn't notice any speed difference at all.
EDIT: I've just been thinking - it's probably due to the setting in X-Button to close applications when you press the X - this keeps the most memory free at all times - but can slow down performance - as each application has to start from scratch each time you launch it.. To change this, click on the X-Button icon at the top right, then press the configure 'spanner', tap on the "Button" tab and select the option "End programs by tapping and holding X". This will speed up switching between applications after you've already launched them once.
No problems here
I though I'd give it a try. Even though I can't use the video portion of the 3G dialer - it has everything else I typically use in my personal build.
Nice job!

Thanks Matt, although most of the credit should go to you for the kitchen I looked at all the applications and functionality that "most people" would use in a general day-to-day usage of the device and tried to cut something that would save people a lot of time learning how to use kitchens etc just to update. Some of the features that people might want to swap and change I've tried to keep in the extended ROM so that they can be uninstalled separately if the user wants to...
The development will probably track the updates of your kitchen and have a few tweak/updates inbetween depending on what happens (application updates etc).
edit: Oh, and did you like the default ringtone? It can also be deleted as it's in \My Documents\My Ringtones if you want to free up more space or use something else.
Just rolled & uploaded Release 2 of my ROM. This adds Bluetooth Voice Dialing support using Cyberon Voice Commander.

Yeah - I've been meaning to do these for the past couple of days but got side-tracked with fixes... I'll whip something up now...
Ok, I've fixed the ClearVue PDF issue and corrected the X-Button configuration that was making things look really slow (when really it was a misconfiguration!). Release 3 should be fully functioning and FAST!
I have added benchmark of this ROM to my benchmark thread. You can check the results here.

Thanks KarhU... It's interesting that although it didn't get top marks in everything, there is less than 1% across the board different between the top scorers and this ROM. Some of them we missed out on by 0.1fps!
It was kind of expected as I have it running background processes etc for voice dialing etc - which will take up some resources - however it was nowhere near the difference that I was expecting...

Current benchmarking apps have their limits. I am well aware that actual differences between ROMs are in magnitude of single units of percents. Problem is that all currently available benchmarking apps are aimed to test different devices, not different ROMs on the same device. Factors like GUI responsiveness although important from end user point of view are omitted completely. I started thread in Development and Hacking forum to find a developer who would address this problem, but except from one vague reply it has no progress...
Release 4 has just been sent to the mirrors.
Changes to this version include:
Mapped button 5 press to voice dial.
Added voice dialling to Appbuttons.
Added fix for scrolling slowness in Pocket IE.
Changed keyboard skin to match theme.
Unbundled OS ROM from Radio ROM due to popular request. You can now choose your own radio version.

The fix is registry based. The registry entry is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam]
"DelayTime"=dword:00000001
I tried changing that value, it seems like the same. It's a small time difference. I took a picture of a car @30mph and with both settings it seems about a car length off. with shutter sound off, it's about a 1/2 car length. I changed the value in both binary & hex to 1. In these settings. Thanks for the help
Chris
First off I would like to say great ROM. It feels nice and peppy and doesn't have a bunch of things that I don't need. With that being said I do have one problem. Ever since I flashed to this firmware I cannot get my phone and the pc to sync back up. Its as if the computer doesn't even see a device connected to it. Is there someway to fix this?

I would say this has something to do with the PC. I've had this happen to me on random occasions with multiple ROMs. Try soft resetting the phone, then reboot your computer. Try changing the USB port your cable is hooked up to.
It's annoying when it does happen, but it isn't related to the ROM.
Big thanks to DFT for the WM Builds, xda and the i900 communities for their kitchens and tools, heineken78, keff and any others that I've neglected to mention.

No, its not CFC compressed, at least not that I'm aware of.
I installed it, boots and looks mostly OK, but for me neither IE, not Task Manager start - they just show the hourglass (or how should we call the new rotating thing?) icon and never actually start.
Going back to trashcan's 28008 for now.
ie??
why ie? put it skyfire or opera. skyfire has flash and is what I am currently running. I like the tabs in opera though. I had both running for a while and switched back and forth but then skyfire got a new update and it just blew opera away! put skyfire in and don't even mess with ie!

Just like Windows, removing IE from Windows Mobile causes more problems then its worth. Though I do agree, Skyfire and Opera are the way to go however I'm just going for a base rom with just the bare necessities for it to function. No extra programs or anything.
"by the balls" as they say
I gotcha. Keep up the great work!
Haha yeah. Thanks.
Sorry about IE and Task Manager not working, turns out they got corrupted while I was doing something earlier. I replaced the AT&T boot animations while I was at it too. Still working on the USB problem unfortunately.
Here's the dl link for the fixed rom. Updated first post as well.

IE rendering engine powers much of WM interface - for example whole messaging app is built on top of html + activeX... you can't really get it out and have a functioning device.

Cool, those two work now.
Some issues I've noticed:
1. No Media Player, so if I click 'Play all songs' in Home Screen - phone hangs, if I double click music file - app hangs.
2. 'Getting started' item in Home Screen can't remove itself - app hangs (can be fixed by Home Screen Customizer of course).
Some apps that would be cool to have by default:
1. Microsoft My Phone - good for restoring files and makes initial setup easier.
2. Marketplace
I'm with you on leaving out as much as possible. Build a lean and stable base and we can install our own favorite apps.
Why did you go with build 23xxx instead of 28xxx? I'm not up on the differences. Just curious.
Have you tried using a 0 (dynamic) page pool? I really like having as much free ram as posible. I actually got rid of the trashcan rom mostly because Windows kept running out of ram and closing Opera or Flexmail for me.

WMP probably has the same problem as IE and Task Manager had. I'll fix that for the next rom. Gonna have to look into the Getting started thing.
I'm aiming for a lite build rom that doesn't have any extras, this way people can customize as they see fit and not have to deal with apps they don't use or be forced into someone else's preferences. I'll make some cab files for apps that I leave out such as MyPhone, Marketplce, the WM widgets or Livesearch.

Yep this way mostly everyone will be happy and the rom (hopefully) runs as smoothly as possible at the very core.
Decided to try going a different route than trashcan's 28xxx roms. Also I noticed that the 28xxx branch hasn't had any new builds since 28232 back in Feb, where as the 23xxx branch is still coming out with new ones. Though frankly I don't see much differences between them and unfortunately there isn't any sort of changelog for these builds. The 23xxx seems to handle the MMS in Messaging differently then from what I remember in 28xxx or maybe trashcan's rom just did it differently.
I was unaware we could even do dynamic page pool (first time chef, can't be helped =x) I guess I could try it out as a separate rom for the more adventurous. In theory it should speed things up and free up ram...I'll check it out.
Glad to see progress! The only thing I would really like to see is if you can find a nicer calculator to put into the Epix. The calculator on te epix now looks like somehing straight from WM5.

I totally support this. I only noticed these two, since they make it easier to bootstrap the phone and install all the other apps (actually just Marketplace would be enough, since it can install the latest My Phone). But I'm totally fine with installing Marketplace from the SD card .
Regarding Media Player - yes, look similar to IE/Taskman problem. It also does not exist in Start Menu. I do see it in Windows folder, but it would not start.
Fenrir, snd me rom, sys, oem folders pls. il check for problem and clean.

I don't think Marketplace and MyPhone should be in ROM, because they are often updated and updates are mandatory - which means that after about a month, you will still have to redownload Marketplace and MyPhone, otherwise they will be old and won't let you do anything except upgrade.
(Also, I don't use them much, I do upgrading via Sprite Backup, so I prefer clean ROM).
Fenrir, I tried the fixed beta2, and I think we still have the battery problem - my epix (about 3 month old 1800 mAh battery) lasted about 20 hours of use with only occasional checking of e-mail and web - approx. 1 hour of those twenty, otherwise it was connected to 3g, but in standby and with no data downloading - I don't have a direct comparison or benchmark, but I think that it lasted about 2 days with trashcans rom and similar usage.
I'll keep using your rom, and will post more findings about battery.
BTW, thanks for fixed IE! That was quite a serious bug, because since I (or some app) tried to load it, the start menu stopped opening. Now it is OK.

I use both XP and 7, though for the purposes of flashing and cooking ROMs I use XP only. I'm using the Omnia kitchen. Technically any Omnia kitchen should work, but I've had mixed results. osKitchen would've worked and did create a bootable ROM but it caused problems since it assumed it was Omnia's resolution. You should be using Grandprix for the flashing, I guess I'll update the first post with instructions for those who have forgotten. Here's a link to the kitchen I'm using: Link
Mid way through April I was thinking chances are nothing's gonna be released, maybe I should finally attempt to cook a ROM myself. Fortunately I was successful with help of course.

Turns out WMP did infact have the same problem. I forgot to put WMP in the start menu list, so I'll be sure not to leave it out again. I'm going to try to fix a few more things before I post an updated ROM so please bare with it in the meantime.

Hmmm on the bright side at least it wasn't as bad as the first beta ROM. I'm not sure what else I can do to improve it aside from some registry edits but I'll look around and see what I can do. Unfortunately I cancelled my data plan a few months ago so I don't have any way of testing myself, and these past few days I've just been home studying away or working on the ROM so not much usage on my phone. Keep me updated on the battery.
Haha yeah the IE was a pretty bad one.
Edit: Oh yeah I forgot I found some other minor problems as well. Phone canvas with the keypad shows an unnecessary scroll bar. Also in-call screen, top row middle button which is suppose to be the Mute button is blank and not working. Both fixed in upcoming ROM. Getting started refuses to work properly so I'll end up pulling it out, rather put the efforts into fixing other things. I doubt anyone uses it but the built in Help (Windows Mobile) will be gone as well if I choose to take this route.
Edit2: Dunno if anyone has noticed and I neglected to mention this, but the only 'extra' app I've put into the ROMs is a finger keyboard, same one that heineken uses in his ROMs. Its an SIP keyboard so to switch to it either go to Input in settings or press and hold the keyboard button and then select Finger Keyboard. Originally I was just messing around and trying it out, but I'll leave it in if people like it. Though probably unnecessary with our QWERTY keyboards =\
Welcome to XevRev Vogue Series!
If you have never flashed a custom ROM onto your phone before, you must unlock your phone! Instructions can be found here!
This is for CDMA based Touch (Vogue) phones! GSM phones (this means your Touch has a SIM card) are not compatible and flashing this ROM onto a GSM could render your phone permanently disabled!
This is the first release of XevRev, based on WM6.5 28014 and 21889 with XPR compression. You will notice the similarities to NuVogue because NuAngel and I are real-life friends who share our knowledge on cooking.
The basic methodology of my ROM's is to create a suitable "OEM" replacement ROM. That means there will be a focus on stability, usability and ease of use; along with an "out-of-box" experience that should require no major adjustment once flashed. This also means that the ROM will feature a very trim set of "stock" applications. I want to enjoy using my phone, and any tweak or change I make needs to make my experience more enjoyable and simple.
One of the main points of XevRev's core builds will be the focus on SenseUI. 1.0 will utilize the same SenseUI 2.0.2016.3224 packages found in NuVogue 8. There will be no focus on Titanium due to the ridiculous amount of tweaking and (imo) "garbage" applications required to make it work flawlessly with little hassle.
XevRev will only be released with carrier specific builds. I have developed XevRev with Verizon in mind, but I would hope that the other builds are just as stable and capable. The main reason for a focus on carrier specific builds is that it seems to get programming/roaming update working (at least on Verizon). This means you can program your phone without flashing back to a stock carrier ROM like some people have had to, or manually updating PRL files. It also means you won't have to update your PRL after using some REALLY old carrier cabs (which just REALLY ticked me off).
I will now explain how XevRev development will move forward for the short term. XevRev will not be developed like many roms, and will not receive a "major" release every build (example with NuVogue 1,2,3, etc). Instead, it will receive minor updates addressing issues with the current software, then major releases that add new features.
1.0 series
This series will focus on getting the basics right. There will be ZERO focus on GPS features in 1.0 because of my inability to test them because of letting Verizon's customizations run. *edit* 1/21/11 - I have obtained my new XV6900.
What is on the XevRev 1.0 to-do list:
Adding MightyMike and Juggalo_x's tethering fix to beta 2! TOP PRIORITY!
Setting the following registry values to be default out-of-box:
Getting nueSIPDefault or another SIP Default software to make Swype primary keyboard.
Disabling WM built in word suggestion.
Disabling Swype's built-in auto suggestion.
Removing Music tab from SenseUI
Removing Programs tab from SenseUI
Removing Wi-Fi options from com manager.
Finding a fresher default sound system to drop in.
Finding the "Verizon Train" sound effect for messaging. This is only for myself and not for the main build, just so I can bug my buddy to hell and back with it! lol Found it on my new Touch Pro2. Muhuhahaha!
Making Opera the browser that will load from SenseUI Home screen.
Making about:blank he default page that will load from SenseUI Internet screen.
Replacing Earth with Opera logo in SenseUI Internet Screen.
Possibly replacing HTC Mega theme with a different theme.
Possibly cooking in SBP Time (demo).
Possibly replacing ArcSoft Messaging client with another SMS client.
Possibly removing nuePerformance.
Possibly add an auto home screen lock that doesn't completely @#$% me off.
Possibly add in EZ Input. ADDED IN 1.0 BETA 2!
Possibly remove Total Commander since it is a power user feature.
Fixing the weather update on the home screen. COMING IN 1.0 FINAL.
Remove any modules that are not doing anything at all!
What is on the XevRev 2.0 to-do list:
Porting CDMA Phone Canvas to QVGA.
Making Youtube app function.
More to come...
XevRev 1.0 features!
System
XPR compressed ROM. This is the best compression to use on Vogue, and provides faster loading and better loading performance then no compression at all, and faster overall speed vs LZX.
SenseUI 2.0.2016.3224 based mostly on Mega Ext TMO_UK_1.33.110.2 package, along with crazy4tricks's Manila SenseUI 2.0.2016.3224 package.
HTC Default M2D theme.
HTC Vogue Dialer with working program codes on Verizon Wireless (*228 PRL update and phone programing should work 100%).
xTask 2.3b4, with task icons pre-disabled. I picked this task manager for ease of use.
nuePerformance - for boot benchmarking.
nueSIPDefault - for setting SIP input to a different keyboard during boot.
ArcSoft Messaging 5.2.2.64
Imaging
HTC Vogue Camera app from PPCk (if anyone has anything newer that works, please let me know!).
HTC Album 3.0.1918.2223.
Input
Swype Keyboard 3.9.22.22(apparently) with Baly23's Touch like skin cooked in. Original WVGA Swype theme has been removed to save space! Keyboard loads much faster then when installing manually, but may still be too laggy for some (looking for feedback). Please donate to Baly23 for this wonderful QVGA skin!
EZ Touch Input from HTC Mega! This package shouldn't be as buggy as the old one found in PPCK. I have discovered no bugs with it.
Internet
Opera Mobile 10
IETools
Microsoft MyPhone 1.06.2718.0001
MySquare 1.3beta3.1
HTC Facebook 1.0.07.1
Productivity
Microsoft Office 2010
Utility
HTC Calculator from PPCk.
frNotepad 1.4.3.
SpbScreenshot - for reporting bugs on XevRev.
Pocket RAR - Supports ZIP and RAR, so why have anything else?
Foxit PDF Reader - Picked over Adobe Reader because of Adobe's own software being filled with security holes.
Total Commander - Popular Registry Editor
.NET CF 3.5 cooked in.
Mortscript COMING IN 1.0 FINAL!
Games
Solitar
Bubblebreaker
Carriers
Verizon Wireless
Sprint PCS
Alltel
Telus (CA)
Bell (CA)
Cellular South
Cricket COMING IN 1.0 FINAL!
Noticeable things you will find missing from this ROM
Codes folder - I have removed this from my dev builds, because for whatever reason, it would prevent my phone from receiving PRL updates from Verzion's *228.
Gobs of games - Seriously, how often do you play these things? I drive around to places, I don't take a bus. If I did, I would take my Nintendo DS instead of playing on my Vogue.
Carepackages *poke's NuAngel* - Takes too much space up in the rom, plan and simple. You can delete it, but the space is never freed up.
Crappy default themes from PPCK - Seriously, how old is some of this stuff? I want my phone to feel fresh, not dated. Replacing the default theme is a high priority.
SenseUI themes found here - Many of these themes are based on the dated look of Sense 1.0, and they are just ugly. Instead look in this thread for Sense 2.0 themes. Unsure how many are optimized for QVGA.
Manila 2D Customizer (M2DC) 0.29.235. This is not compatible with this build of Manila 2D 2.0.

21889 Series
Changes between 1.0b1 and 1.0b2
Added Build #81+
-Added MightyMike and Juggalo_x's tethering fix. I'd rather be safe then sorry. Not sure how well this fix still works.
-Added aGPS Confirmation package from HTC Mega. I don't know why I forgot this. Please test GPS features and give feedback!
-Added EZ Touch package from HTC Mega, seems to be working great! Perhaps this will fix whatever bug people talked about with the PPCK package found in NuVogue. If you want this as the default SIP, remember to set it in nueSIP!

If any links are dead or do not work, please private message me and I will fix them! All link to new domain name now.
If you want another carrier other then the ones listed above, simply request it and I will build both flavors for that carrier. I may release a generic one in the future after beta testing is completed.
Have fun and good night everyone!
I look forward to everyone's input. Development of XevRev started 09/24/2010, it was almost to the point of release in early November, but I've been busy with my new job! I hope everyone enjoys the fruits of my efforts.
I am considering a Paypal donation link, but I'll leave that for another day, along with the first screenshots.
Are both 28014 and 21889 equally stable? I know that 28014 is 6.5.3 and 21889 is 6.5 but was just wondering if they are equally stable lol.
Bell #80 doesn't work...please.

my testing with 21889 has been that it's as stable as the 28014 build. i would like feedback on 21889 to see if others find it stable.
The manila packages I'm using are from the HTC Mega, and that ran on 21889 which is why I thought to try it. SenseUI feels much faster with this build, but it's not as thumb friendly with task managers and hitting the start button. My new Touch Pro2 uses 21887. so I'm wagering that the builds in that series are stable.
As for build 80, I will fix it when I get home later. Is the link wrong or is the file corrupted somehow?
*edit* Fixed those links. Should be good to go.
I am uploading Beta 2 builds tonight. In addition to the builds I have previously done, I will be adding South Cellular. My upload speed is currently crap, so I may have to upload the rest in the morning after I get access to a cable connect.
I have uploaded pics from the beta 2 Verizon builds. I couldn't snap pics of Swype and Touch Input for whatever reason.
Beta 2 will add what has been listed above previously, I think the biggest is a much newer EZ Touch package then what everyone was used to in NuVogue, in addition to the aGPS prompt (GPS should work fine after this on all GPS enabled phones). I also added the tethering fix just in case, I need to do some file checks to see if the default PPCK files are already hacked or not (or I might just as in the IRC chatroom when I have time).
I'll make sure the uploads and links are posted (correctly) before I head to work tomorrow afternoon (EST -5 GMT).
If the testing of beta 2 goes well, then I will make my next release the true 1.0 and start working on some real improvements (Like getting Youtube to work, and adding QuickGPS).
Testers, please give me input on the following:
Swype Experience
Touch Input Experience (Beta 2)
Can your phone be programed and receive PRL updates on your carrier (I have confirmed this working on Verizon only!)?
TouchFLO Experience
Dialer Experience (particularly on non Verizon, and on all 28014 builds!)
21889 Stability
GPS Experience (Beta 2 only please)
xTask Experience
Any repeatable crashing on any build!
I recommend everyone to reboot your phone after your first boot with XevRev. This will particularly increase performance in 28014 builds (for whatever reason). Thanks everyone for giving my new rom a shot!
Sorry havent been around for a while, been moving. Will install this and test as soon as i can find my cables (hehe).

Remember to reboot your phone once after initial flash to get the best performance, especially with 28014 builds!
Instead of making everything brown like the mega sense have you considered black like the newer 3d versions of sense (ie. Rodium ). I made the Black theme on the second post of your link (sense/manila 2.0 themes). I have tonnes of system files that I ahven't deleted yet to get rid of every trace of brown from the mega if your interested.
P.S. gonna flash this baby on the old Vogue after Christmas to test it out, cool to see someone new take up development. My old Vogue is now a "PDA / MP3 player" for my oldest Son since I moved to the Desire but this looks fun enough to test out.

RE: ROM for Vogue (Bell)
hi,
I've been reading your posts, and seeing all the releases.
What's the best version for my HTC Vogue, on Bell ?
I think you now have a Beta 2 ...can I use that on it?
thanks
KC
also, any kind of GPS/Turn by turn navigation like tom tom or something that could be incorporated into this build, or if you guys know of a good one for Vogue on bell ?
I'll be sure to donate soon...
thanks
KC
For Bell, Use either Bell Canada ROM (unless they are still around in the US, let me know if that's the case then I'll figure something out.)
As for turn by turn navigation, Google maps is installed. i am currently unable to test the GPS features, but next week I am going to go threw the process of flashing my Vogue so it will have working GPS for testing (lots of time off for the holidays).
As for the theme, I world love to have a nice black theme like on my new RhodiumW, if anyone has a link to one that will install in cab format, I'll oemize it and toss that in instead!
Installed it yesterday evening. Everything is running smoothly; no crashing. Only thing that I have a problem is that the Weather doesn't update under the clock

I'll zip up all my graphic files for my jmitr mega black theme and send it to you. With four kids and Christmas coming soon, be patient though!
I designed my theme based on the Rodium look, it's the closest I know of
Jason
awesome. look forward to it. I'd love to see some pics of it if you have time to post a few.
As for the weather issue, I'll look into it.
Well, its going to take me awhile longer to get GPS up and running. Even though I got the GPS unlocked easily, for some reason my ERI has disappeared on the phone, now I can't program it. WTF
The GPS works fine with Google Maps on my Bell Vogue.
Good to know. I plan on adding QuickGPS at some point, but without being able to test it, seems like a pointless idea atm.
I unlocked the GPS on mine finally, but I still haven't figured out the ERI issue. If anyone with a Sprint Vogue could do the following it'd be a great help:
Dial ##diag# and put the phone in diagnostic mode.
Open the file system in either QPST or Bitpim and navigate to /ERI and tell me the name of the file there + extract/rar it.
This information must be from a Sprint Vogue, no other carrier will help me. ~_~ The file names seem to be completely different between carriers.
Yes, my phone is completely ERIless.. (WTF). I might make another post for this issue so I can fix it. I have NO idea how I nuked the ERI, but its really gone and I can't program the phone anymore. lol Perhaps I can test GPS features using a laptop and standing outside.... in the snow..... wait, I don't like that idea. lol
Hopefully this week I'll have time to dig into XevRev_V a bit more. I'd like to make a few tweaks before I really dig into making a Touch Pro2 release for my new phone (and i really hate Verizon's stock roms!).
