Hi,
I installed Dutty's latest 3.9 ROM a couple of days ago and now I am only being notified of roughly 1/3 of the text messages I receive. ie, for 2/3 of the text messages I receive my phone does not vibration or play a ringtone. Anybody else experiencing this?
Cheers, Jamie Kitson
Is this the reason to open a new thread? Why don't you ask here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507372
And, by the way, did you try to change parameters in Settings/All Settings/Personal/Sounds&Notifications/Notifications/Messaging:New text message ?
I installed it after struggling with the terms and concepts of a WinMo for two days
Now I love my WinMo HD and I have no such problems as you mentioned...
Lets see for a few days and how it goes...
Regards,
Faisal.
Hey, bud, what's with you posting this on every forum. If it is about Dutty's ROM then post there - but of course you already have....
If you want people to help then don't abuse the system and close this thread.

Yes, I've finally gotten around to looking into this whole cab making malarkey and while this is an existing one customised to fit my needs, it's a good learning curve
It's the palm threaded SMS app and it just plain rocks - really
So anyway, I've tested this on WM6 (Black 4) and it really works. Everything is already set up in this for using with T-Mobile and MMS works too! It integrates nicely with the HTC homescreen and includes a custom alert tone (hope you like it! )
Just to make sure the install goes OK, please use the task manager to stop the messaging \ poutlook \ tmail processes before you run the cab as I believe this could cause problems.
You will lose your existing SMS and MMS messages in the standard messaging app so if you want to keep them, use PIMBackup first
It's a fantastic app and I recommend giving it ago and if you're on T-Mob, I've just made it a little easier for you
Cheers,
Smiffy.

EDIT 1: Fixed MMS settings

If you ever vist bristol I may be tempted to reward you. thanks.. a handy cab.
Any screen shots of threaded SMS? Also if i uninstall your cab, does everything go back to normal?
Thanks

Good point! Nice work on the cab Lord but some reassurance would be fantastic
Service provider?
Have installed it and its quality. I can't send mms though. In the settings its set to cingular. I've got the tmob settings bar the centre number any ideas?
screen shot
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/10/18/treo-750v-threaded-sms-mms-app-hacked-for-all/
looks like that
I'm looking at it now - I did test it on mine first but I think it probably kept the registry settings when I uninstalled it and re-installed it.
As for uninstalling...on my T-Mobile UK MDA Vario II, it uninstalled perfectly and everything reverted to the standard messaging app...BUT, as with anything like this, please don't just take the poster's word for it - use PIMBackup and and back it all up first!! It will most likely work OK, but...sh*t happens ;-)
Smiffy.
Thanks man. Your word is always good enough
OK, there were 2 places in the registry where the MMS settings were stored and I only changed 1 but it's sorted now (tested 3 times ;-)
And no, my word isn't good enough ;-) Back it up!! :-D
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Fixed and fantastic
Think this will quite possibly be the first cab i'll install after future flashes. Intelligent fuctionality.
Cheers Lordsmiff nice work
Forgot to say that when i uninstalled first version my old sms and mms were still there. When i reinstalled the new ones reappeared. Like lordsmiff says back up just in case but it didnt completely remove messages only temporarily when using the app.
You're right, it doesn't remove the old messages, it just uses a different message store but, at the risk of repeating myself ;-) back it up anyway
Which reminds me - if you want to reflash your device and then get all your threaded SMS messages back, you need to backup a file in the Windows folder called "PalmMsgV001" and also a folder in Windows called "MMS"
The file has all the text messages and stuff in and the folder has all the images etc from MMS messages in (I found that out the hard way )
Copy those two to your storage card and then back after a reflash to have everything back in threads
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Moved to rapidshare at mod's request
Anyone have any ideas where better to put it as I know some people (myself included) can't get them during working hours...damn those proxys
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Is it possible to install this threaded sms cab then alter the network settings by installing one of the available operator cabs or does the setting need to be entered manually?
Thanks.
i havent looked at lordsmiff's version... but if its anything like the ones i posted there is a possible issue of mms not working if you enter the settings manually... but his could be different...
There's not much chance of it being too different - it's based on your cab
If you want me to mod it for your provider, I can do that for you
Just PM me the connection details and I'll see what I can do
Cheers,
Smiffy.
i had another thought if you wanted to run with the idea.. i go back to work today so my time is going to be limited again.
The original version where based on the sprint connections, when i extracted all the files from the cingular treo rom and dumped the registry i compared them, i noticed all the reg settings were pretty much the same except for 2 lines and of course all the provider settings. But im thinking that if we left out the hard coded provider settings and allow the user to enter them manually that this may stop the "sometimes" apparent connection issues with MMS. So basically have a generic threaded cab with no provider settings hard coded at all... and if someone wanted to feel ambitious enough they could make cabs with just the hard coded reg settings for different providers (not the whole app)..
Hi!
Sounds great! Can it also be used for a other provider ? If yes; how do I know my settings ?
Does it show a alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

I really love this app and would like to go back to it. MMS has always worked for me when using shogunmarks version but I think its limited to 300k.
Since your offering lord would you make one for AT&T?
I linked the settings I would have just posted them here but didn't want to miss something so I linked the main page for you.

One thing everyone should know when using this app is if you use any kind of app that closes programs like HTC Task Manager for example you need to add the Palm Threaded app to the exclusive list so it does NOT close when pressing x.
What happens a lot of times is most people write their txt msg and just click the x but with the threaded you have to wait until the msg is actually sent.
So the app should be running most of the time..
Hi,
What about the new sms notify; does it show an alerts and integrates it good in the HTC Home Screen ?

Hello everyone
I am a heavy texter and using black shadow...but my device is running slow. I have sktools and optomize the ram every so often, usually around 15-20k free...
but whenever i go to type a message or email, the app will open then take literally 15 seconds to initialize...like if i type it will miss a lot of characters...
it seems like the top menu bar is refreshing or something while this is happening. why does it do this? it drives me nuts everytime i need to send a message!
after 15 seconds, the message will write completely fine.
please help!
btw i have my kb backlight on all the time and the phone will only display 3 words after entering 4 characters...

If it is on every ROM you have tryed maybe a hardware problem with your phone, Shadow is the only ROM ive encountered this with. have you tryed Sleuths Varient: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308019 this is based on LSVW's last release, i have used this since release date and it does not have the strange keyboard slowing, or try the new LSVW release: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307951
these are the most stable ROMS i have tryed. also my point about the Shadow support forum was only coz the cook (Jasjamming) of the ROM requested that all questions and downloads of the ROM were on the Link i provided on my last post.
Personally i am waiting for Sleuths next ROM, they are the best!!
Try turning off the text auto completion or reducing it somewhat. I found with early WM6 roms that starting typing a text or email would lag due to auto complete - so I now have mine set to suggest two words after 3 characters.

I have just removed the word suggestion and left auto completion on and there is no more lag. thanks for fix
Been trying quite a few different ROMs out over this past week, think I'm currently on the mUn ROM. I forgot to take the message (SMS) ringtone that's with some ROMs, maybe the official versions released a few weeks ago, the tone says (in a female voice), "You have message". Can someone please send me this? or upload it?
Thanks
here u go
Thank you very much.
I much prefer this one "you got post"
Hope its OK to post
Hi All!
I just upgraded my Rogers TyTN to Windows Mobile 6. I've got most everything back up and running. There are a couple things that are nagging me.
1. When I create a new SMS and start typing the name of the recipient, it also searches my SIM card. Anyway to disable that?
2. When I open an SMS or Email it doesn't open at the top of the SMS/Email. SMS will open at the end and Emails will open somewhere in the middle. Both times I have to scroll up. Can this be fixed?
I think for now, those are the 2 more noticeable problems for me. Everything else appears to be under control.
Thanx in advance,
Dan
Is there anybody who can help? I've been searching all over for answers.

download Schaps Advanced config tool, will allow you to set sim card properties on contacts (number 1). On number 2 that seems unusual (I do not experience that). Try installing threaded SMS install it and see if it helps. You may also want to look into some of the cooked roms (either 6 or 6.1 version), these issues are addressed in most of the cooked roms.
Thanks for the Schaps config tool. Will be trying it tonight.
As for the messaging screen problem, I'm using the official HTC ROM I found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320829
Dan
The Schaps config tool didn't help. It just allows you to hide the SIM contacts in the Contacts application.
Hello? Anyone? You guys are supposed to be the best. That's why I posted here!
Dan
As aaronsmckee stated "You may also want to look into some of the cooked roms (either 6 or 6.1 version), these issues are addressed in most of the cooked roms"
If you can't deal with bugs, stay away from 6.1 until they get everything worked out.
I am currently using schaps wm6 pro 1.34 and love it. I don't keep contacts on my sim card so I don't know if it fixes that, but it definitely fixes the e-mail/sms bug you describe.
You can find Schaps 1.34 rom here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359458
It'll be a helluvalot more stable than the crackerjack "official" rom.
If it works for you, don't forget to donate to the chef, they need to eat too.
Patience is required!!!

As per previous posts. You really need to blow the official rom and grab a cooked one. But before you do that I strongly suggest that you do some reading of the wiki and the posts that accompany your chosen rom. My personal suggestions would be K's or CRC's both cook great fast & stable roms.
Again pls read before you post dumb questions and demand answers
Found my answer on HowardForums
It was a simple and common registry tweak for PIE's 4-way D-navigation that caused the problem with Messaging scrolling. No need to blast away the ROM and install a cooked one.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?p=10674995
Could you please post here what ROM you used?
I have Rogers TyTn and would like to upgrade to WM6 but I don't know what ROM to use.
Do I have to unlock SIM / CID before installing WM6?
did you upgrade the Radio ROM too?
Thanks

You could use Arcsoft Messenger instead. It looks like HTC Messaging Client, but pages the messages instead of loading them all at once.
Hi
The best thing to do is to change ROM to Jackos - check ROM developement section.
If you don't want to change rom - check this thread. I installed the patch and it solved messaging problems on original 6.5 ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664915
But I strongly recommend Jackos ROM, everything is better with it.
