I've been looking for new rom to suite my diamond.
I want 6.5 cause of the improved behavior of scrolling and since its a little more fingerfriendly in the menus.
The issue is that every rom is so tweaked that after 5Mins I get memory usage of 90%!
Therefore I'd like to find a basic WM6.5 that hasnt been touched and tweaked,
So I can use it with my own software customizations and thats all.
I dont like the tweaks so much since it kills the memory and cause problems to softwares like IGO and Opera which needs a bit more memory.
Thanks!
looking for same here..
I have responded to both of you guys privately on a recommended ROM so as that we don't offend other chefs here.

What I have recommended is a Rom that has been customized but it consumes very little memory and it's fast and stable.
Please can I have link. Thanks

Heh. Well, your sig just gave you away.
im sorry to ruin all the party but ive tried the rom you reccomended, and it aint such a memory saver too!
I had it yesterday, this rom is *loaded* with tweaks.
maybe there's something else?
i've never noticed big differences with or without all the tweaks, ever "official" just with tf3d2 is fine for me
Use lobsterdave's easy to follow kitchen and cook your own.
Much easier and you won't have anything you don't need.
as the post above states
make it yourself....that way you get what you want...and not what a chef thinks you want.
i'd like to cook one myself but I couldnt find a basic rom with the latest wm6.5

Im sure you're well aware that both WM6.5 and the tf3d2 (for diamond anyway) are both in beta/experimental stages (Hence, there is no such thing as 'official 6.5' atm), and that even if you don't tweak them they are bound to have memory leaks? (tf3d was a memory hogger for 6.1 btw INMHO) Just the fact that you found no 6.5 rom to suit your needs of more free ram, is already a clue dude.

I think you're misunderstanding.
You don't need a base ROM. It's all included in the kitchen along with all the packages. You can of course create your own packages and add what you want to the kitchen.
Then after you've selected what you want in your kitchen and what you don't want you can cook it into a ROM. Before you cook you don't have a base ROM, you have a whole load of files in their raw format ready for packaging into the ROM.
As I said, use lobsterdave's kitchen which is exceptionally easy to follow and has instructions.
Where can i get lobsterdave's kitchen?
I googled it and it gave me this : http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=e...0vJ&q=lobsterdave's+kitchen&btnG=Search&meta=
Can some provide a link?

Since the ROM is for a Kaiser then no It wont work. ROMs contain more than just the OS, they have the drivers and files required for that particular device also.
Thanks for the reply. It is really a great looking ROM. I wish Dutty would make one for the Hermes.

Yes but porting from one device to another takes a little genius for all the parts to fall together, at least from my experience.

how true that is! Might be better off just installing the dutty's apps via cab. Then again why not just wait tell poorlyducky uploads his new vista themes and use them instead. I can't wait to see a Faria (any word on that Dr. ) or K rom with the Vista themes.
Dumping a ROM and cooking is still a little over my head at this point. I'll keep enjoying all the great recipes the chefs here are cooking up.
Wow!!
Damn that is a nice looking rom.
Wonder what would be required by Dutty to create a hermes version too for us less knowledgeable folk???
My Kaiser is a company owned phone so I can't play around with it and, as much is it erks me, must run the official rom. Ahhh I hate official roms they suck.

Umm, last I checked, there is at least one, perhaps two, hermes ROMs that are using the same build as the keiser ROM from Dutty, and I'm pretty sure that I've seen a cab or two that install the keiser stuff (com manager, dialer, etc) on the hermes.
Unless you are looking for a nice all-in-one package, everything is already around, just have to look for it.
First of all, HUGE thanks to psuarmy, bilbobrian, and bepe (they know why). Last year, in my first period class (basketball), somebody decided to jack my 8525 and took off with it which upset me a lot. Well, i finally got an 8525 so i can cook for it. I've spent quite some time getting it all ready and it's finally good to go.
I offered this same service for the Kaiser and a lot of people seemed to like it so i thought i'd bring it here. It'll bring a lot more load on me, but i'm on summer vacation until the 25th and then school starts (will continue to do this even when i have school hopefully).
Most chefs tend to cook what the majority of the people like including myself. When i cooked my first ROM and asked people for feedback/suggestions, i did get a few programs that everybody liked but there were many suggestions of programs that each different user liked. So i could have cooked Livcast in which Joe wanted, but Mary wouldn't use it at all; that kind of thing
I couldn't get anybody to cook what i wanted so i did it myself So i'm opening up this thread for ANYBODY who has a request to cook a ROM which can include ANY program (or rather anything they want). I will cook commercial programs, but will NOT include any license/registration key; that's up to you to get. The format should look something like this:
Programs: Thousands of these.
Games: Thousands of these to
Version: Here you can tell me whether you want a cube version, non-cube version, diamond build, etc.
Other: Whatever else you'd like.
Preferred Upload Host: Have problems with RS? No problem, just tell me the site and i'll upload it there. I can also upload to Jannaa's blogspot thanks to her generosity!
You can help aplace4u.biz to stay free.
Chances are that I probably have access to the programs you want, so i'll make them to an OEM if i don't already have them.
I'm on summer vacation so I have quite some time and i'd like to devote it in helping out (not just here but anywhere). If this doesn't go so well, i'll just ask a mod to delete the thread.
This is 100% FREE and i'd like to help as much as I can, but if you can/are able to, i have PAYPAL @ ksallstar2013 at yahoo.
Thanks to all the following supporters:

Ooo! Like the sound of this.
Programs: Samsung time, iContact, Windows live, office, pocket rar, softkey changer, pocketIRC, Schaps advanced config, Oxios Memory, phm regedit, and finaly pbar.
If you dont have any of these, just ask and ill post them up.
Games: just the default ones will do
Other: button 5 fix, and com manager toggle vibrate fix. As clean as you can, maybe take out error reporting, managed programs, and clear storage as well as the normal stuff like welcome centre.
I would like HTC connection wizard in there as well.
10 button black comm manager, and this dialler.
Version: I dont mind to much, I dont use anything like the Cube, just the newest you have. (WM6.1 of cause) I see build 20273 around, maybe newer if you have it
If i missed anything, just say and ill get right back to you!
New chef???

HAHA that got your attention huh?
I just thought I'd start a thread for people who might be considering upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.0 or 6.1. You should post why you like a certain rom, which features you like, and what could be better.
Since (and I am pretty sure on this) that all of the builds are based on "chunks" of the OS taken from other phone's distributions, there isn't a "hermes specific" guide to improvements that these newer OSs give the user.
So if you feel like it, post away. Hopefully if anything, this will serve as a basis for which rom to choose.
Please don't spam the thread with posts agreeing with other users. I didn't intend for this thread to be a discussion. Try not to post based off other posts, and please
DON'T QUOTE ANYONE!
This means if someone says "I like schaps because its purple and neat looking", don't post "YA IT SURE IS". Just post AGAIN stating that it is purple, as well as what else you like about it.
Reserved for future use
ROM: CRCs STABLE (v11.2; 17-Jul)
This is a great rom to use. Battery life is excellent, and my phone never hangs / crashes. (hence the stable). I like that it accepts dialer customizations (3G dialer from the kaiser for instance) without making you go through a graphic nightmare trying to get it to work.
I *have* noticed some WIFI issues however... Not being able to connect to networks that I KNOW are open. It will say you are connected, however you won't be able to transfer. This however is only a very rarely encountered issue, and usually at WIFI hotspots in restaurants and hotels. It ALWAYS works on my home network.
Rom seems on par with most when speed is considered. It is not either slow, nor exremely fast. Quick enough to do most any task with less than a 1 second wait.
I would definately recommend this rom for use by anyone who is considering their first upgrade, or anyone who wants a very useable rom with a good basic set of programs and tools.
Thank you for bringing this up
Personally, I would say CRCinAU's roms have been the benchmark for other chefs to 'match' or 'better'
These days abusalza is that chef. Again these are my personal opinion, you really NEED TO FLASH ALL THE ROMS, to find what you like and what you don't.
No one can tell me what I will like and what I won't like, as it is down to preference.
So, in other words, .... this thread is pretty useless
in here is a link to rom benchmarks (great job be veyka) to assist U:
>>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419158
Why did you post that? tell me, is there anywhere out there where there is a "consumer reports" type of ROM review?
Rom choice is.. very much what you like.
I can tell you from exp, and I have flashed almost every rom here, as im sure many other people can, that its the ONLY way to know what to use.
There isnt a bad rom, just one that isnt right for you.
since joining this community, i have flashed many roms. I have flashed almost every release during that time, it would exceed 100 roms.
now, what i have noticed is that it doesnt matter which rom i chose, i end up putting the applications on it which i like. Some of the roms have these and others do not. so really, find what it is you like, get the cabs for it, and almost all roms are the same.
there is the stability and speed of roms which is different. but with a 400mhz processor, the speed is barely noticeable unless you change the pagepool.
There is one rom that i always return to when i am away for a while, being Berds 4.31 SS
I find there is a huge difference in speed and battery drain between different WM6.1 roms.
I would personally hold up CRC and PDAcorner as the best two out there atm.
(main difference is if you like your rom vanilla or not)

bepe's kitchen is in there download and read the entire thing.
download every hermes kitchen you can find and just start messing with stuff.. RGU's are all registry entries. modify and open xml's to see what they do. and just start poking around, eventually (3 months) you'll get a working almost stable build! Every change you make be sure to note it incase you need to go back and correct.. Also note what you did to fix stuff.
Then when you have questions PM and i'll try and help as much as i can but i'm still new.

Also the Hypercore kitchen has a good manual with it.. On porting, the noob way for porting is easyportoven, otherwise search xip and sys porting and there is a nice thread on it..
The rest is just trial and error.

Ok, now I know some of you are going to be like "what the hell you want that for?!?"... I have my reasons.
Basically, I'm looking for a 6.1 ROM for the AT&T 8525 that would be most like an official one released from AT&T ...if they had a brain. I guess what I'm looking for is the tilt 6.1 rom ...but for an 8525, complete with all AT&T bloatware, annoying sounds, stupid settings, etc...
Anyone know where I can find one?
Almost every single ROM is the outcome of what you mentioned. There never was an official release for the 8525 so you're only going to find cooked ones. Install hardspl on your device and run any ROM of your liking.

I am aware that there was no official ROM for the 8525. But I have been unable to find a ROM that would be "like" an official ROM. They are all someone's idea of how to make it "better". They have sounds removed, or animations gone, at&t apps gone.
What I am looking for is a ROM that WOULD be an official ROM if one were produced. FOR EXAMPLE, an official 6.1 Tilt ROM made to work on an 8525.
I was hoping someone knew where I could find one, so that I didn't need to repeatedly load ROMs until I found one I like, I could just flash it on and be happy.
Perhaps I should make a request for a custom ROM from you? I hear you do a great job...
If you want a 6.1 ROM for the 8525, you will have to install hardspl; no way out of it. Once again, most ROMs in the Hermes Mobile 6 section remove animations, usless programs, etc.

I don't see any problem with installing HardSPL. That doesn't bother me and as far as I know it doesn't affect the functioning of the device.

Never said I did... No, I don't think they will. I didn't expect them to. As a matter of fact I KNOW the will NOT. That is why I am here looking for someone who has created a cooked 6.1 ROM with the "official" look and feel to it.
Maybe someone will come along and actually read my question...
We answered you're question and it's rather vague. You're basically asking a modified version of "what's the best ROM out there that includes..." That's for you to decide and you should go and try them all out. All ROMs mention what they have, tweaks, etc.

I don't understand why Ricky has to take down this ROM because NRG says so, the right of the ROM is that the copywrite belongs to M$, if you look @ other parts of the XDA forums you will see that more than one person will present a ROM, without being told what to do with what they have cooked, it's an artistic liscence we hold and a right to use it, modern day society cannot prevent the future....
Oh well I guess it was a sign of respect that he took it down... Oh well... I never got a chance to try it which is a bummer...

SORRY IVE HAD TO TAKE THE ROM DOWN BECAUSE NRGZ28 ASK ME TO
HE SAID THIS ON YAHOO
ediz28: well IF were you, I would show some respect and just delete it now...

Click to collapse
Sounds like to me you showed respect by having his name in the title.
Why not work together for one uber-rom?
Now Now...
Everything will work out for the best sooner or later
I asked him too because today I'm releasing ver 1.1 of my ROM with all the stuff that he added to it, already built in. There's no reason to have two very similar ROMs floating around. I could understand him modifying Kavana's ROM when Kavana was gone, but I'm still here and I can debug my own ROM
